Sunshine

Wow! Its such a sweet, smooth, warm fragrance that is very reminiscent of a cotton t-shirt being dried in the sun. Its in the family of fuzzy sweater because they are both very reminiscent of clean fabric. Though sunshine is warmer, sweeter(vanilla) and breezier. fuzzy sweater is more like a cooler version but by no means the same. Just in the same family. I feel like sunshine reminds me of a lotion I used to have with either cocoa butter or shea butter. Maybe im wrong but it gives me that sweet lotion smell. Its light and I feel like demeter captured the warmth of the sun with this one :) its lovely! I feel like I could wear this anytime honestly. Lesser in fall and winter though. Wearing it in the winter would remind me of summer.. so I think it would be ok to warm me up! This one is a love. Simply because I could see myself wearing this all the time!

The company is up-front with what exactly this smells like: A clean cotton t-shirt, freshly laundered and dried by the sun. It is a very tender and sweet scent that brings back memories of visiting my grandmother in the country. The longevity is brief...within 2-3 hours the scent is nearly gone. The silage is appropriate for a woman of any age in any setting. Those standing approximately 2-3 feet may share this experience, put I believe using this scent is mostly an intimate pleasure. I definitely will be repurchasing this scent for that comfortable, just out of the shower and relaxing feeling. Appropriate for the spring or summer, and great for layering under a more powerful juice to give a warm accord.

This is a nice surprise. It smells exactly like Floating Island dessert (madartej in hungarian)! It is very delicious and I keep smelling my wrist. On me I smell bourbon vanilla and maybe some alcohol with fresh notes that are very mild. I think I am very content with this blind-buy after reading all the comments on here and I'd define it as a cute and happy fragrance! The lasting power is not the best, but it is acceptable.^_^ 9/10

On my skin it starts as powdery, then I notice sunscreen—a blend of orange blossom/Neroli, coconut, jasmine, and vanilla. Together the powdered laundry musk and the sunscreen it incapacitates sun-drenched cotton. I envision a shirt freshly washed and hanging to dry on a clothesline along the breezy summer coast. Think BeachWalk by Mason Margiela ,SunBum, Soleil Blanc by Tom Ford.

I received an oil rollerball of this as a free gift with an order from Demeter. This isn't a scent I would have been quick to try based on the description of "cotton warmed by the sun", but since what it actually smells like is vanilla with a hint of flowers, I think it's lovely! Part of me feels it ought to smell like its description, but with these kinds of fantasy scents that are mostly artistic concept, I don't really fault them for not getting it right as long as it smells good. A lot of reviews seem to mention citrus, which I don't get from this- just mostly vanilla, with a floral whisper so soft I can't decide if I'm imagining it or it's really there. It could just be something with my body chemistry and Demeter's oil formulation, since I've noticed this very faint floral quality with another of their scents in the oil version. Longevity is decent- I put some on a few hours before bed and could still smell it when I woke up the next day. Seems to last *forever* on clothing! Very feminine and pretty fragrance, and one that should layer well with my favorites. Thank you, Demeter!

I initially did not like this fragrance, but I sat on it and came back a couple months later and tried again. I'm glad I did. This does remind me of sunshine. I get notes of clean linen, powder (but not dry powder, more clean and soft), and vanilla. There's also a small touch of citrus to brighten up the vanilla. This is not a fragrance to leave an impressive scent trail to get all the compliments. This is close, and just for you. It's comforting to wear on a cloudy, dreary day when you miss this summer sun. It's clean skin right out of the shower with a sun dried cotton t-shirt. Very soft all around. My son thinks it's an "old lady" perfume, and I can kinda see that with the powdery notes, but I think this is all ages, all genders, and all seasons.

According to Demeter this is supposed to smell like warm cotton that's been in the sun. Well, I'm not sure how your sun-warmed cotton smells, but mine does not smell like vanilla with a touch of citrus and maybe some yellow flowers. To be fair, on initial spritz, this smells "warm" to me and there is a touch of something in it (citrus? musk?) that smells like clean linen, but it's well hidden beneath the vanilla. The drydown is nearly all vanilla and lasts for quite a while (4+ hours) but is a soft skin scent after the first hour. Overall it's a pleasant, if not ground-breaking or unique, scent that's easy to wear.

Received this beauty in the post today, and its such a lovely fragrance. So very clean smelling, with such a nice grounding of vanilla, who wouldnt wanna wear this. Perfect for Spring/Summer here in Australia. I can definitely get away with wearing this at the beach. Unfortunately it doesnt remind me of clean shirts and cotton or any of that, it just reminds me of - happiness. I havent smelt anything quite like it. It projects moderately, carries in the breezes well, and lasts a while, been wearing it for a few hours, and no complaints from me. Scent = 7/10 Longevity = 6/10 Projection = 6/10 Bottle design = 7/10

I have been eyeing up the Library of Fragrance perfumes at Boots for a while now, and finally bought two! Sunshine wasn't one that caught my eye, but unlike the ones that did (rain, snow), it did catch my nose! A lovely fresh vanilla scent with a hint of citrus. I definitely recognised the scent as it brought back memories but I couldn't put my finger on it...until now! It smells exactly like Licor 43, a lovely liquor with 43 ingredients, the most obvious one is vanilla. Very lovely smell and I can't wait to layer it with more musky and smoky scents, to create something more dangerous.

Sunshine is the spring-summer perfume for me. I am an autumn-winter girl I like warm fragrances and I find it difficult to wear perfumes which are defined as "summer scents". However I love Sunshine because it's is fresh yet warm, clean yet sweet. It somehow smells bright and happy as its name. It has a beautiful mix of vanilla, citrusses, soft powder and musk. The only bad thing about it is the longevity. It is has a weak longevity but sillage is better than any approximate Demeter fragrances. And the best part is Sunshine lifts my mood every time I wear it.

When Demeter says" like a cotton t-shirt warmed by the sun" I totally get what they mean -It smells EXACTLY like this (I'm a lil bit of a hippie though ;)). You know how you can taste the sunshine in room temp strawberries? I can smell something similar here, but with a soft, worn t-shirt. It's glorious. A must try for everyone!

This is a really pretty scent, although not what I would say sunshine smells like. This perfume reminds me of Lavanila's Summer Vanilla, which I don't see in the database at Fragrantica. It is really a creamy, warm vanilla. I like it, but not what I was expecting!

This scent is warm and soft. I really like it, I had no expectations with blind buying this and was pleasantly surprised. If this fragrance had notes listed I would say they would probably be vanilla, powder, musk, orange blossom and ozonic notes.

Vanilla! Slightly ozonic at first, with some soft citrus, but the dry-down is almost all vanilla. Lots of compliments with this one.

Hmmm its not bad, i think it would smell better on other people than on me, especially i think for women over like 35 years i dont know why, i feel like im to young to wear it. For me it smells like sunscreen mixed with a big swoosh vanilla and laundry but not the one i like...its not bad but not pleasnt to smell for me. Just neutral ig. I wont wear it though. It doesnt smell like i expected from the reviews i read, but who am i to juge blind buying a perfume based on comments hahaha😩!!

i 've had this perfume for a while and i've never loved it, i wore it a few times but it has poor longevity as demeter perfumes often do and so most of the bottle was used on heavy spraying. i like the smooth florals in it, the lotiony-vanilla notes, but i find the aldehydes are wayyy too strong for me and it ends up smelling very soapy and alcoholic. i think this could be better as a perfume to layer with, or spray heavily in the summer with your sunscreen.

this was the first perfume i got as a teenager. at the time, i hadn't really smelled anything else so i liked it and wore it a lot. it smells like a texture, or like the feeling of rubbing powder between your fingers. it also has a vanilla scent, and a subtle laundry on a clothes line scent. it's somewhat nostalgic. i haven't worn it in a few years and don't plan on wearing it again

This mainly strikes me as a lemon-tinged, sweet skin musk scent. I'm surprised that most of the reviews point out vanilla, which I can understand with the sweetness, but for me this is much more skin musky than anything else. It's okay but I don't love musky scents and it gives me a headache after a while.

My mom took one sniff and said "Cabbage Patch Kid." She's pretty spot on. I was hoping for more of a fresh laundry in the sun smell. This is just so vanilla.

I only smell sweet vanilla. It's pleasant enough, but not what I associate with sunshine.

Although no notes were listed, yet seduced by the description, I blind bought this one at Boots about a year ago. My impression: oily! The juice itself feels oily on my skin, so does the smell. At first, a mild lemony and confectionery vanilla slightly reminiscent of a French quatre-quart (the greasy type you buy in supermarkets), minus the strong salt and butter. Contrary to most of Demeter scents I own, this one evoluates, very quickly. It dries into some sort of non-descript powdery floral, akin to those waxy lipstick from the 80’s. I cannot find any note that would suggest clean t-shirts drying outdoors on a warm, sunny day. Note that I'm aware this is neither supposed to be a laundry detergent scent, nor was I looking for it. In the end, there's no much personality or clarity to back up their “it took 2 years to compose this fragrance” claim. As LA2000 said before, it really feels like they were rushing to produce this one to meet some corporate service level lol NB: Quatre-quart is a straight forward pound cake that contains equal part flour, eggs, butter and sugar, as indicated in its name.

I have mixed feelings when it comes to this fragrance. It’s a super sweet sugary vanilla scent with a slight hint of lemon and a “clean cotton” vibe. Mostly a warm vanilla though. I usually like sweet scents but this one bothers me. It’s kind of greasy and buttery which makes it hard to like. On me, it smells like a cheap, oily pastry. I do find it quite nice the first ten minutes when I can still sense the lemon, upon drydown it gets bad. The formula is quite oily, be careful when spraying so it doesn’t get on your clothes. When it comes to sillage and longevity, I would say it’s decent. 2/5⭐️

Vanilla sugar cookies and fresh laundry. Clean, musty, powder and raw honey thankfully counters the majority vanilla and strikes appropriate balance. Ends up reading as warm, nutty, vanilla. Strikes me as more feminine than some of Demeter’s exclusively feminine fragrances. Guys could pull it off if they love vanilla. Projects well, but vanilla is too ‘cheap teenager’ for me. Medium duration (longer than many of Demeter’s worst performers).

At first sniff, I really enjoyed this - it was soft and laundry-like. But as it dries down, a vanilla note comes out and gets much stronger. Vanillas are very hit or miss for me, and this one is unfortunately a miss. If you like vanillas, you'll be happy to know this scent actually lasts for an entire work day, unlike some Demeter fragrances.

I remember buying this in the morning, spraying it on my shirt, going to the beach, and smelling it on myself for the entire day. it made me feel really warm and happy. like a nice hug. 10/10 would recommend for cold winter days as a pick me up. unisex.

was not a fan... too powdery, and the vanilla note is not only strong but also veery cheap smelling (on me though!! could be diff for other people). gave me a horrible headache :( used once and gave it away,,,,

It started out beautiful, an airy sunscreen smell. It dried down to a rancid coconut smell on my skin. Longevity is abysmall.

As a Texan, I know what sunshine smells like. This aint it. Envision this: you spent a night out on the town drinking tequila at the local honkytonk. You have now awoken with a splitting headache, in the trailer of some unknown paramour. You throw on your clothes (which smell of sweat, cigarette, and regret) and sneak outside. The sun hits you dead in the face along with the humidity. You realize you are in some godforsaken area of east Houston. You stumble through your obligatory walk of shame across the trailer park while Earline judges silently you from her porch. That is the version of sunshine you’re getting here. 0 stars. Do not recommend.

Boring and disappointing. it takes up to 15 min for the initial alcoholic note to disappear.

I view the Demeter line more as fragrance novelties than as fully realized fragrances. That said, "Sunshine" didn't work for me, even on that level. My impression was of a sharp, citrus-y orange blossom top over a vanilla sugar cookie base. I am a huge fan of "laundry" scents, but I didn't really get a clean cotton vibe from this one. Any "clean" is really undermined by that very gourmand,clashing cookie dry down. Not really sure who this would be for. Perhaps a child's starter fragrance? The whole thing feels rough and unfinished, like some poor nose was rushing to meet his quota. Demeter has many better, more fully realized options than this. In my opinion, "Sunshine" is for Demeter completists/collectors only.

A perfectly nice scent to spritz on if you want to smell fresh and warm. There's a good bit of vanilla here, along with a subtle floral. To me, it's not so much "t-shirt drying in the summer sun" as it is "sitting on a park bench on a warm summer night enjoying a vanilla soft-serve ice cream cone." This sits very close to the skin, but I have been enjoying soft wafts of scent for several hours now as I move around. A few sprays to the neck and wrists and one or two on my shirt and it lasts quite a while. Sweet, tender, fresh and sunny. Will definitely re-purchase. I can see me reaching for this not only in the summer, but also in the winter when I need a pick-me-up from the shorter days and lack of sun.

My new fav scent from the so wonderful & unique Demeter Fragrance Library! It has a clean scent and it really does brighten my day when I spray it on. Sunshine to me smells like... vanilla! With a burst of lemon! I'd eat this scent if I could! It's so very delectable to me - I can't stop smelling the bottle :) The downside is it doesn't last long on the skin and I really wish it would!!!

Gross! I tried this on recently, imagining it might smell somewhat like that sun-and-fresh-air scent of laundry when it's been drying outside, and was I ever wrong. Instead it was a sickly sweet mess not at all like "sunshine", but more like gross sugary vanilla. Not my style at all – it was so bad that I had to wash it off as soon as possible.

this smells like laundry that was dried in the sun and vanilla; i've had the oil version of this for a few months now and it doesn't smell as nice as it did when i first got it unfortunately so i've put it on and immediately taken it off but the fragrance in itself is quite nice;; nothing special, but rather soft and gentle

Although the fragrance description notes warm cotton/linen, the actual scent itself is more of a warm vanilla. Imagine freshly baked cookies wafting through an open window on a spring morning. The smell is incredibly pleasant, and I found myself taking many deep and long smells of it throughout the weartime.

To me this smells like a warm summer breeze, on a beautiful day, walking outside, looking at flowers, eating ice cream. I think they nailed it.

This smells really nice. The name is fitting, the scent reminds me of a Sunny day on the beach. I like wearing this, with Marc Jacobs Honey.

Synthetic angel food cake. Close to good but not good enough to consider blending with that one chemical note.

Very sweet vanilla/honey smell. Very nice, reminds me of ice cream, or some other dessert.
