Suntan Lotion

This has been a repeat buy for me, as I went through a whole sample bottle pretty quickly. Slightly astringent orange blossom. Could be unisex I'm thinking. It does smell slightly of chemicals but that's also kind of the point ...you will smell like you've been applying sunscreen all day.

I have owned this one for a while. It has an incredible opening and is nice for 30 minutes to an hour. It is extremely accurate to suntan lotion during this time (note: it is quite chemically, as is suntan lotion ? I'm not sure what these other people complaining expected it to smell like). I spray this during summer, which it works great in, of course, but also sometimes in the winter when I miss the warmth and memories of summertime. It brings back those memories vividly. Unfortunately for me, after it has dried down, I really cant stand the smell. It smells strangely powdery and is a bit noxious. If you want something that smells exactly like suntan lotion, this it it, however, bear in mind that you'll only have it for an hour since you'll have to wash it off after it dries down.

I was hoping for a 1980s suntan lotion smell, but it's more like a citrusy bathroom cleaner. But I find it blends really well with Demeter Orange Flower. I needs something that's bit lighter and more floral to lift it, and I'm thinking it might also work with something quite woody. It's not what I thought it would be, but I'm happy with what it is.

Smells exactly like what it’s called. I don’t hate it. It has a hint of Sunless Tanner scent to it. I’m interested in playing around with some layers, I think a little coconut is gonna do this one well.

This smells like 1980s suntan lotion. Specifically, it smells like Coppertone's Bain de Soleil Orange Glacee. That was the one that came in the white tube, with the lettering that would always flake off well before the tube was empty. For a prettied-up and less synthetic (if also more expensive) take on this fragrance -- and one that will also actually last more than thirty seconds on skin -- try Bobbi Brown's Beach. I found the longevity and projection on this one shockingly poor, even by Demeter standards. I had to bury my nose in my arm just to smell it, and it lasted, literally, only a minute before it was gone. Of course, it's possible that my sample just came from an old bottle that had lost its mojo, or that I'm anosmic to some particular aromachemical, etc., etc....but I've seen enough other people complain of exactly the same thing that I suspect the problem here is on Demeter's end. I don't demand endless longevity or (God forbid!) yards of sillage from a fragrance, but there's a bare minimum level of "can this, in fact, be smelled at ALL?" that I do expect to have answered in the affirmative, and this EdC couldn't even clear *that* hurdle. I'm sorry to say that this places it firmly in the "Not Even Worth Demeter Prices" bin for me.

This is the first time I’ve had to take a shower because a perfume made me nauseous/sick to my stomach. I recently ordered this due to people telling me it smells like Bobbi Brown “Beach”. It does not!! I sprayed this on my wrist, there’s a slight coppertone smell. However, this scent mainly screams Mothballs to me. It has an unbearable chemical smell. 6 hours have gone by and the scent hasn’t faded.

This smells like a bathroom cleaner, floral and citrussy one. I'm pretty sure that Mr. Clean has a multicleaner surface cleaner that's exact on the spot with this scent. I don't know about this being suntan lotion scent, I have never smelled a suntan lotion horridly like this.

This does not smell like any suntan lotion! I ordered a small spray to try it out and i was disappointed, smells like a laundry detergent and not in a good way.

Ew. Since when do suntan lotions even smell like this? Gross. This just smelled like chemicals.

Demeter perfumes have a certain charm to them, though while some are lovely, others are downright terrible. Despite being hit or miss for me, I enjoy their little bottles and cheap and cheerful price point enough that I give one a go now and again. Demeter fragrances are literal to the point of photorealism. Whereas other great summer fragrances capture the vibe of a day at the beach (Bronze Goddess and Coccobello do this the best in my opinion), Demeter's Suntan Lotion highlights just one aspect of the the scene. Even the more direct Beach by Bobbi Brow or Sun by Jil Sander still create an overall image or impression rather than replicate a singular scent. Since this scent is so singular, I find it best suits very casual summer outfits: think jean shorts, a fitted 70s style t-shirt, running shoes and a cute baseball cap.

MUCH better than BB Beach & Miami Glow. Beach has a weird note I don't like, this doesn't. Beach also disappears. You will smell this all day! Love. Right up there with Bond 9 Fire Island, which I have heard is disc'd? Not sure, I have one, it will last the rest of my life probably, but this is just as good!

Photorealistic white creamy chemical sunscreen. Don't be fooled, this is not a tropical banana boat sunscreen. This is almost like an over the counter pharmaceutical smell. Very nostalgic and the sillage is excellent, but it only lasts about 30-45 minutes.

I am really surprised to find that most reviewers think this smells very chemical, yet 5 people feel like this is similar to Beach Walk?
