Vampire Blooms

Vampire Blooms is my favorite as a room diffuser (after trying out about a dozen of theirs). It smells like orchids, carnations, gentle amber, and a little dustiness - makes me think of a funeral parlor. It's also my favorite orchid-forward scent of Demeter. I wouldn't really like it as a perfume but I love it in my walk-in closet, had it in my office before that. I think it fits into the idea of old 70s/80s movie vampire women in a white nightgown, slinky and dangerous. Demeter lists the notes as red ginger orchid, midnight orchid, twilight orchid, oud, amber, yuzu, pink grapefruit, jasmine. I don't really smell citrus myself though.

I have never smelled belladonna in real life, but I think I would expect it to smell like this. To me it's flowery, but in a heady, intoxicating way. It's not vampire in the way of gothic castles and caskets, but in the feeling of walking through a stone walled garden full of flowers in rain at night, in something that smells good but slightly off, as if there is some hidden sense of danger lurking, like vampires who are human, but not really. I love this one, I think it's perfect for the alternative/goth people who like a little bit of uncanny in their perfumes.

i got a sample of this last year and became immediately addicted, something about it just deeply resonates with me lol. i’ve been meaning to get a full size bottle. but if you like a sexy, vampy fresh but dark floral scent, you’ll be all over this <3

Well, I'm not sure this smells like something a vampire would wear, and it doesn't make me think of vampires or anything dark or spooky. It's a fresh, sweet floral blend that's very pretty and feminine, but in my opinion leans much more to the light than towards darkness. Dracula Orchid and Maile Leaves are two notes listed for Vampire Blooms on the Demeter website which do not appear here on Fragrantica, but all I can really smell in this is white flowers, regardless of what's listed or not listed. I'm thinking that when Demeter said "Nicotiana plant", Fragrantica heard "tobacco leaf", but Demeter really meant "white tobacco blossom". At any rate, being that white flowers are just about my favorite accord in perfumery, I like this scent a lot, but I don't think it embodies its dark & spooky theme as well as does Transfixed, also from the Dark Flowers collection. I understand that white floral bouquets are often associated with funerals, but that's not so for me. To me, white flowers are simply the ones with the strongest & sweetest scents I know, and the ones I feel the most connection with because they've always grown in & around places I've lived. I wish I could get the belladonna note in Vampire Blooms; I think if I could, it might go a long way towards helping this fragrance live up to its name and make it a little more exotic and mysterious, like I'd hoped for. But if I forget about the concept and concentrate just on the scent itself, it's beautiful!

White flowers and MORE white flowers! Definitely disregard the notes listed here on Fragrantica; they're not accurate. There is no tobacco leaf here; it's white tobacco -blossoms- that overwhelmingly dominate this fragrance. I can't get anything else from this but sweet white floral goodness, in fact- no belladonna, no musk, no vanilla, nothing else. I do adore white flowers, but I've got to say, this is not very "dark". Not very "vampiric". White flowers have never meant "funerals" to me; I've always associated them with the sunny climates where I've seen them growing. I don't get the mandarin peel Witching Hour is supposed to have, but I do get a hint of something like orange blossom distinguishing itself within the white floral chorus being sung by this perfume. Blooms? Definitely! Darkness and vampires? Keep looking! UPDATE: 3/23/23: Vampire Blooms is great layered with Demeter's Kitten Fur!

I don't detect much musk in this so I have to layer it for sure. Initially it's really really strong but it does pass pretty quickly so I can't complain too much. I quite like it and don't regret blind buying it like some people have. Surprisingly despite being strong and a vanilla scent I wouldn't say it doesn't work in warmer weather but that could just be up to my personal preference. Never smelt belladonna so I can't say how accurate it is but it does have a very unique scent to it that I haven't had in any other perfumes I've tried. Would I buy it again after finishing this bottle? Who knows. But it's a keeper for sure!

What I'd imagine or remember a fruity floral fragrance from the 90s would smell like. There are other fragrances out there that exude a vampiric mood more effectively than this one, but I can still definitely imagine someone who really liked the style of Winona Ryder, Christina Ricci or Rose McGowan in the 90s wearing this cologne. A bit mall gothesque. Someone who was really into watching Charmed or The Craft. Longevity is not that great, but decent for a cologne. I got a good 3-4 hours out of this one before it became a skin scent altogether.

This reminds me of standing in a garden in the middle of winter with the few flowers still blooming scenting the air. It's a bit cold, a lot piney on opening and has a really nice dry down. This one is very much an intimate fragrance in that once it dries down others would only be able to smell it when they hug you. I really really like it, especially for a blind buy.

I live in the desert and go for night walks often. This perfume smells like the night blooms in late spring when they're ALMOST overwhelming. Quite pretty, but i do wonder if my husband, who spends that part of the year swollen and miserable due to allergies, may have a negative response to the very realistic smell.

fairly certain the notes are wrong on here. there's no musk or tobacco. fresh, white florals, not too powdery in the way some other powders tend to be (as in, dusty smelling). it's a great scent, but nothing about the scent itself brings to mind vampires besides for the exact type of flowers they used.

I don’t really get this one, so I’m glad it’s not just me. It smells very bright and sunny and sweet! It smells pretty much the opposite of how I expected it to smell. It’s pretty, but the sillage and longevity is poor so I’m not sure I’d buy it again.

I don't sense any tobacco, maybe tobacco bloom? In any case, a sexy and intoxicating floral. Gets better with every use.

Simple, floral, jasmine heavy perfume. Pretty basic. A liiiiitttlleee too grandma-ish for my liking, but for the price point it's not the worst.

To me this is candy sweet, which makes it kind of boring. Disappointing, considering the potential of the listed notes.

First impression: Night-blooming flowers on a cold autumn night. Orange blossoms and jasmine. A touch funereal - like the flowers are just on the right side of dying. But instead of this invoking gothic and bloodthirsty plants, it smells grandmotherly and dated.

The fragrance opens with a strong, powdery note that, while powder itself isn't always offensive (and I often enjoy powdery perfumes), quickly takes over and dominates the entire composition. However, this isn't the soft, comforting powder I typically appreciate. This powdery aspect, combined with what I perceive as a rather musty undertone, evokes the impression of visiting great-grandma in a nursing home. The image of aged floral arrangements and slightly dusty drapery became overwhelming, overshadowing any potential for the promised "dark floral" character. The belladonna, Dracula orchid, and nicotiana notes were completely consumed by this overwhelming "great-grandma's nursing home" accord.

worst perfume i ever smelled i tried to lie to myself that i like it, but i couldn't it was my first blind buy fail <3

Disconcertingly sweet and floral. If they were trying to evoke the feeling of a room full of white lily bouquets heavy on the greens but strangely without the scent of green they nailed it. To me it's cloying, claustrophobic even, and reminds me of a funeral in an overheated room. The accords and notes lists are nonsense. It's a linear, one note fragrance. Like all Demeters I've tried, it powers up strong but fades fast.

underneath the baby powder, all i get is that nauseating dogwood tree smell that hits you right in the face as soon as you step outside on a humid day in the southeast. nope nope nope. not for me, besties!

Hmmm, this smells like sunscreen to me
