Violet

This was the fragrance that made me fall in love with violets- not to say that this is an authentic or even particularly interesting violet scent!! It fades quickly and in my opinion is nicer in the bottle than on skin. It was my first violet though and I think it's a good introduction, pretty and sweet but not overly complicated. A while ago my beloved roommate and I did a love spell in our living room and part of it was choosing small objects to enchant. She chose a necklace I think and I chose my small splash bottle of Demeter Violet. Not an objectively great fragrance but still one of my favorites. Every time I wear it I feel as though I could fall in love.

I have almost no idea how to describe this scent. And since I've never smelled real violets, I can't even vouch for its accuracy. However... It's dark, delicate, and sweet, and like no other floral I've smelled. Definitely feminine. Not the least bit powdery. Almost fruity, but nope, not quite. In fact, I've never smelled anything, ever, with this particular quality of refreshing sweetness. If someone told me this was a beverage instead of a perfume, I'd drink the whole bottle, no questions asked. And if it tasted at all like it smells, it'd be delightful.

I'm glad I bought this overall; it's a sickly sweet interpretation of violets, smells legit and realistic, although extremely concentrated. I layer this with Geo F Trumpers Violets to get a rich layered violets experience. Like Trumpers, this is floral, powdery, but masculine. Would recommend if you're into violets.

A sweet violet that goes on light and fades quickly. It's definitely one of the more fleeting Demeter scents I've tried (which tend to disappear quickly anyhow), but sometimes a sheer, pretty scent is just what I want.

Powdery and sweet, very reminiscent of a sweet candy smell. For me, it's a bit of an "old granny" fragrance, but not in a bad way. It's good fragrance for springtime, just when the weather is picking up.

This violet is sweet. fragrant, candied violets. Not the powdery, cosmetic kind. I find this nice and enjoyable to respray throughout the day. The aroma & joy of candied violets without the calorie!

A deep, smooth, powdery floral, and very pretty. I layer this with a few other florals to add some depth and dimension.

I'm sorry but this smells funky, almost rotten. I know Demeter is all about photo realistic scents, so that is probably why it smells nearly nothing like it's synthetic note that is commonly used in perfumery, so if you were expecting it to smell like the violet note in Bvlgari Femme,Dsquared crystal creek wood, French Kiss, Rosa Pop, Lipstick Rose, L'eau D'hiver, Insolence, & it's flankers, ect, you will be dissappinted. I couldn't tell you what a real violet smells like, because I never buried my nose deep enough in one to know that it even has much of a fragrance, so I can't speak on accuracy, but this smells like a flower that was left to macerate and rot in a vase. That and it's sweet, but I wouldn't feel comfortable wearing this for fear that people would think this funkyness was caused by my body.

Even though I’m a guy, I tried this due to getting it in a batch. Definitely feminine, not unisex. Smells purple. Starts floral, but sweetness builds. Many people relate to car air freshener, which is painfully accurate. There is a slight powder, which helps mature and make it less juvenile, without being too elderly - even though it still rides the line on both. Medium strength/duration. Fades after a couple hours. Even as a guy, it’d be easy for girls to do better. Not offensive, just don’t waste time on mediocre.

If you are into violet scents, this one is not a sharp and fresh one, it's a shy, dry, sugary one, I also get smell of pollen. I dont' know wich type of violet they used but I was expecting to find a more realistic one

got as a GWP and it smells like a huge whiff of baby powder! def unwearable for me, but if you love a baby powder floral.. go crazy

Super sharp and soapy. Like a cheap air freshener or fabuloso floor cleaner.

Super sharply green, cheap violet scent like an air freshener.

This is a pleasant 'violet' scent, ...but it is by no means a convincing violet scent. It is far too sweet and heady, and also lacks any green, leafy aspect... Having said that, I do enjoy it for what it is, and wear it semi-regularly. The scent only lasts a couple hours, at least beyond the skin. I also recently layered it with Jean Patou's 1000, which seems to alos have a similar 'anisic' construction to its violet accord. I'm sure some will accuse me of mixing 7-Up with Champagne, but frankly, the combination worked delightfully at improving 1000's sweetness and complexity during the initial phases, with the Demeter scent later leaving early, as is its wont. All the same, I think it would be wonderful if Demeter did add a second violet scent to its line. One similar to the fresh, watery scent of old-fashioned violet cologne, including both ionones, and violet leaf absolute. They might call it 'Green Violet".

Poudre up to the elbows! Sweet and powdery, not your photorealistic Violet, I detect a lot more Mimosa. I had a bottle of Demeter Violet a few years ago and it had a heavy liquorice note which seems less prevalent now. I have a lot of violet-centric fragrances in my collection, I'm actually pleased this one is so different. If you are looking for true violet, a bottle of Yardley April Violets never goes astray, it doesn't have the in and out true violets are known for. Demeter's version is a powdery boudoir scent, soft and fluffy like a pair of slippers adorned with feathers in a very pale purple hue 💜

Violet right from the bottle smells sweet and powdery to my nose, on my skin it's quite a different matter though. At first spray on my skin it smells just as if I had picked a violet, it doesn't include the leaves of the stems it's not very green, it's just the flower. Once it's been sitting on my skin for a little while, the powder definitely comes back though but it's nowhere near as powdery as it smells in the bottle. Like other Demeter scents it doesn't have a great longevity however it is a nice scent to add to your collection if you're looking for violets.

To violet lovers, I'm looking for perfect violet for years and years, I had high hopes with this one, I know Demeter has reputation as brand producing quite realistic singular smelling scents, but for me it doesn't smells like realistic violets more like candy, sugar sweet version of it. If I would smell real violet scent I would know right away. Is there a perfume that smell exactly like viola odorata, wild violets ? Anybody knows ? Please PM me.

I got the rollerball of this as my first Demeter fragrance. I avoided Demeter for years afterwards. I'm a huge violet lover, and I can't find violet anywhere here. It's sharp and chemically, and still somehow chokingly sweet. I've never come across a violet I truly disliked, but I couldn't even bring myself to put this on my skin. I've since tried other Demeters that I really enjoy so I'll call this one a fluke. Such a shame! :(

Demeter Violet is nice. Nothing to knock your socks off. It is VERY powdery, and very sweet. I wouldn't call this a straight-up violet because I get a lot of honey too. So if you think you might like a mixture of powder, honey, and violet this fragrance might be for you. And just when you begin to think it might get a little cloying....it's gone.

Reads much more like orris butter than violet to me. There's a sweet opening that's a bit like violet candy, then it just smells oily :(
