Shy Plant (MẮC CỠ)

i didn’t know how much i could love ginseng in a smell until i sprayed this on me. to me, it is the conductor of this harmony. it’s the first thing i could perceive, and it is a picture perfect ginseng. it smells like bitter dirt and dark roots. if the earthy smell that i pursue in green perfumes was a cool girl, this ginseng would be the original it girl.. i first tried this during a heat wave, the ginseng was so intensely present it surprised me and almost put me off. dry down is both green and sweet. it leans on tea and the honeyed sweetness of mimosa, saffron & angelica root. the ginseng together with the oakmoss and patchouli make for a strange edgy green scent. when i wore this on a cooler summer day, although still very much present, the ginseng didn’t pierce through all the other notes as clearly and blended in much faster. this is a really unique earthy green smell, i got a travel size bottle and might consider something bigger once i run out. edit: i just smelled coven from andrea maack on paper and both are eerily similar although mac co has a touch more pungent earthiness in its top notes and a slightly sweeter dry down than coven.

I recently purchased a few samples from this house and was really pleasantly surprised! Everything I tried was very unique while still being totally wearable. This one was one of my favorites. It smells just like smoking herbal cigarettes in a pottery studio. The clay and ginseng are definitely the most prominent notes, with tea, angelica, and basil lifting them up and keeping them from being too heavy or earthy. As it dries down, it smells more and more like an art classroom- it brings me back to middle school. The overall impression of this scent definitely leans fresh. Lasts long and projects pretty decently! Lovely for the spring but will absolutely be wearing year round.

The basil / saffron up top are doing the lords work. This opening reminds me of tossing a giant serving of delicious green vegetables on a steaming bowl of Phở. On the dry down it diffuses into an aromatic, spicy, green halo. Think forest nymphs smoking herbal cigarettes in a foggy wood.

Wow this leaves a strong impression for sure. I get intensely natural and medicinal greenness up top. Like spraying a mist of a special herbal tincture. I vaguely notice the addition of clay, but I am left wanting slightly more. The patchouli is unmistakably present, and I feel like it makes almost too early of an entrance here. What I'm missing are these softer interior notes that I yearned for when initially deciding to purchase this fragrance. I LOVE clay, tea, and mimosa scents deeply. "Shy Plant" is still a very unique scent and I enjoy the approach the perfumer took to make such an evocative and specific combination of smells. If you love this profile of earthy and green notes then this might be a hit for you.

This is really cool as I love green scents. Most Im drawn to are mossy, earthy, dirty. But this one is spicy. It opens like a bag of Krunchers jalapeño chips, strong green bell pepper and the greens section at the Vietnamese grocer. Incredibly fresh and spicy. Then it does something unexpected and morphs into a fresh, bracing bar of Irish Spring. It stays there more or less the rest of the time then fades in a puff of vague soapy musk. I personally love it but you need to find the right window of opportunity for it.
