Strawberry Cat Shortcake

Fragrantica got confused by the notes on this one, don't be misled. It is not smoky and does not smell like ash. The top note is prickly ash berries, which has an interesting aroma like a unique pink pepper scent. Anyway, this is my favorite of the cat collection by d.grayi by far. The catmint note is a fresh and green complement to the yuzu, prickly ash berries, and strawberry. In the heart notes this evolves into a much more pure gourmand, with strawberry, biscuit, and cream, and a little bit of green still lingering. The drydown is subtle and primarily sugar to my nose. Unfortunately it only lasted around 6 hours on my skin.

I’m immediately met with a burst of strawberry that immediately smells like syrupy strawberry jam spooned over warm scones. There’s a soft biscuit-y quality underneath it with a little sharpness that I’m guessing comes from the lemon note. On my skin it also has this faint green edge, almost slightly minty, which is perhaps the catnip note in there. As it dries down it becomes sweeter and more jammy, like thick strawberry syrup soaking into shortcake. The opening is incredibly strong but settles into this soft musky strawberry scent that stays very close to the skin. Cozy, playful, and very dessert-like!

My favorite scent on my skin that I've found. I love to layer scents but this is perfect as is. Enticing, sweet without any bit of cloying or sickeningly, warm. I find wearing it boosts my mood just because I enjoy it so much.
