This is one of the most interesting and lovely scents I've ever smelled. The first 5/15 seconds have a very strong wave of durian/jackfruit smell. If you've never eaten either fruit, you might be put off by it but if you've smelled fresh durian it doesn't give off the same rotten trash smell- think more overripe jackfruit mixed with durian. After the initial spray, it instantly transforms into a tropical, fruity, milky/custard scent, I love it so much. It smells so intensely tropical and creamy, I definitely get the condensed milk note mixed with avocado and the lime peaks in and lightens everything up a little. The dry down is also lovely in my opinion- I still get the sweet milky nature of the condensed milk but it becomes more grounded with the amber note. It's lovely on my skin and after a few hours of wear it becomes more like a skin scent. Lasting power is not bad either- the bright tropical notes last for 2ish hours on me but the dry down lasts for quite a while on my skin (albeit subtle). I love this scent, it reminds me of Vietnam.

i love this perfume sooo muchhh! durian ice cream with sticky rice coconut milk.. my god please make it last longer. The durian’s gone within an hour and what’s left is an intimate sugary smell. I had to reapply so many times.

i like what this smell does. first whiff is SO durian which on its unpleasant side registers as hot garbage juice to me. HOWEVER; if you’ve stuck long enough with the fruit, you know that once you get past that strange off putting rotting smell and eat it, you may start enjoying it and associating it with something more creamy, rich, delicious and subtle. eventually as you come to appreciate it, scent does a 180 in your brain. this perfume does just that, because i thought i was past the stage of hating durian smell, but i actually frowned in displeasure when i first sniffed this. 15 seconds in and the foul aspect of durian is gone, replaced by something creamy bright and delicious and i started wondering if i made up the stench or if my nose & brain just needed acclimating. this is such a complete and fun illusion of growing to love durian and i’m here for it. my one downside is that on me the avocado-condensed milk & keffir lime note sort of smells like one of these cheap 90s paper wrapped chewable fruit candies and i dont care for it much. i see what james was going for but i find it slightly lacking in the savoury lactonic/creamy dept for a durian and a bit too much on the zesty agrume & sweetness. it leans too sweet for me in the end. but no matter this is unique and fun to experience if you’re thinking of getting a sample for the hell of it, do it!

I hate durian, so why do I like this? The opening smells exactly like durian, but the stink dissipates and I’m left with this fruity tropical creamy scent that I’ve never smelled in a perfume before. It’s only a faint durian, and it also reminds me of ripe jackfruit. Jackfruit has always smelled like a less offensive cousin to my nose. The lime lifts everything to an appropriate extent, ensuring the heavier notes don’t overwhelm and become cloying. It’s definitely more faint than some of the other fragrances in this house. The first hour of this or so is so so beautiful, then the brightness starts to fade and it becomes more ambery with a perfumey undertone to it. Not huge on the end dry down, but it doesn’t stop me from digging this. Now this is a work of art!

To me, this smells exactly like durian or jackfruit flavoured pastillas (a Filipino dessert made of condensed milk, milk powder and sugar). I like it. But that's because I have grown to not mind the smell of durian, especially after migrating from the Philippines because the smell now just reminds me of visiting extended family relatives in our ancestral provinces when I was a kid. It's nostalgic for me. But I wouldn't get the full size because the dry down is a little bit too much of a heavy musk for me. The longevity is also not the best amongst the d.grayi fragrances I have tried.

What a fantastic and unique fragrance! I wasn't sure I was going to like it when I first tried it, but it's grown on me quite a bit! I really get a wet soil vibe from this and it makes me feel like I'm working in the garden under a citrus tree whose fruit hasn't quite ripened yet. The durian isn't super heavy and the avocado makes it creamy and delicious. Highly recommend if you're a fan of green and creamy fragrances!

This smells like a sweet durian dessert, think sticky rice with durian- I don't know, I personally really enjoy it. I love durian so I assumed I would. It most definitely does not smell like dog poop- stick to your designer frags you uncultured swine lol.

The durian literally stays for under a minute before we're left with a custardy, sugary, jackfruit scent, which is still quite pleasant, but does not live up to the name. Projection and longevity also disappointing.

Bought 6 samples to ease into the brand (...well, I would've bought more but some of the others I wanted are out of stock and I wasn't brave enough to blind buy the travel sizes). I've decided to review these without looking at the scent notes first. I like looking after I've typed up my review to see how good my nose is at detecting notes! With that said: Oh lord, the reviews aren't lying. The first 60 seconds STINK! But I guess that makes this fragrance very true to its name... I was so excited to try this after spraying it on paper--after the stink dissipated it smelled surprisingly pleasant! Citrus that, to me, smelled specifically of lime and a creaminess that I couldn't quite place. Whipped cream or maybe custard...? It was vivid, zippy and zesty yet gourmand, but unfortunately on the skin it's a bit muted and muddled. :( On skin, beyond the stinky opening it settles into a sort of green/unripe banana scent? for a little while. Not unpleasant at all but not what I was expecting after trying it on paper first. The banana scent goes away after about 10 minutes and that lime/custard combo ushers in but it's nowhere near as bright and distinct as on paper. On me it fades into a skin scent fast and has a muskiness that, again, makes the overall composition feel a bit muddled. It's still identifiably tropical-smelling but I'm disappointed how faint it is. Can't imagine this will last longer than 2 hours. Oh! I clocked the lime! And the condensed milk (custard)... I guess the musky base I'm smelling is the amber, and maybe the avocado explains the green banana vibe I was getting. This is an easy pass for me but it was still a fun one to sample! I'm really digging this brand's vibe, I might just blind buy those travel sizes after all.

i've never smelled the fruit itself so i can't comment on how similar it is to actual durian, but as a perfume it's really interesting! on initial application i fully understood why it has a reputation of being so stinky: the opening of this smells like dirty gym socks with a hint of gasoline, nearly made me gag. but then it dries down to a citrus-y vanilla custard scent. there's still a hint of dirtiness, but it leans more toward the gasoline than the dirty socks so i don't mind it. the lime here is really beautiful. wish the performance was better, it only lasted about 4 hours and became a skin scent after the first. overall rating: 🩷🩷🩷🖤🖤 3/5

Who wants to smell like this? Even if you enjoy the taste, this fruit is so nasty you can't even travel with it on public transportation throughout most of S.E. Asia.

The opening smells like a fresh fart from a putrid ass, but that only lasts like 5 - 10 seconds. What you're left with is a scent that although unusual is quite pleasant. Thank the durian for that, and yes, it is front and center. If you have ever smelled durian I'm sorry for your nostrils. Assuming you tried it after, well then you would know the taste is much better. That's what you get here with the durian note, something much better. First you gotta get past the nuclear amount of fecal shit from that initial first blast.

@gunderlawe There are many notes that smell unpleasant at full concentration, yet are beautiful when mixed in the right ratio with the rest of the formula. Few people want to smell like pure civet.
