Tsuki

A gaze at the night moon This is one of the most unconventional fragrances I have smelled. That is certainly not to say it is undesirable, but more of a contemplative fragrance that evokes memories. The opening is a ray of bright, juicy-tart lemon backed by an aromatic combination of herbal basil with cooling juniper berry and peppermint. As time goes on, the lemon starts to subside and the aforementioned aromatics circulate prominence of their notes. toward the end of the wearing, the cooling mint aspect seems to take over and combine with the fresh, spicy-green patchouli which eventually dominates as the aromatics dissipate. This fragrance reminds me of a cool spring night, sitting on the Okinawa seawall with a bright moon overhead...

What a splendid blind buy. I usually do not do it. But this time I felt for the good reviews here. Thank you ladies and gentlemen. I wanted to try something different, something not hyped, not the usual "niche" brand. Di Ser Tsuki filled my sense of smell with a beautifull blast of herbal, green, mint freshness. It surrounds me with such a natural herbal soft aura. It is so comforting both to my nose, my brain (the way I reflect on Tsuki as art of perfume), my soul (the way it made me feel). You can actually detect the ingredients in this beautiful perfume. It is not a difficult perfume to understand. It is balance, its harmony it is beauty it is Japanese.

This took me by surprise, after not really grooving on one or two other Di Ser samples I'd tried recently. At the first blast of mint I was pretty sure this was not for me. But then! The coolness evaporated and suddenly there was patchouli, like a stoner arriving late to a dinner party because they forgot snacks. Somehow it all works, and somehow a perfume developed from a garden in Japan smells to me exactly like traversing the wood floors of the earthy-crunchy-natural-holistic marketplace of my youth (Thornes in Northampton, MA). I love it so much I just bought a full bottle, my first in several years. Very unique and rejuvenating.

Tsuki means « the Moon »in Japanese. The fragrance is a crisp combination of yuzu, lemon and mint with spicy herbal notes from basil and a light touch of patchouli. A mix of juniper and coriander almost creates a boozy feeling that is both surprising and unique. Musk is not listed in the ingredients but I get an herbal, minty and musky dry down. If you are a fan of mint fragrances, this could be your holy mint grail.😊🍃

On my skin Tsuki opens with bright and sour lemon, and refreshing mint. The mint smells muddled, as if it were crushed together with sugar and ice, and cools my mind off tremendously. The drydown is sweet, green and peaceful. This is a wonderful fragrance to wear in the summer heat! Thanks to Rajesh Balkrishnan I was able to sample Tsuki. My mind feels as cool and silver as the moon!

This one was surprisingly good. I liked it on my first wearing but fell in love on the second. To me it started off with a bitter citrus and eucalyptus, then the dry down added a refreshing caraway to my nose. A very odd combo but it was very invigorating. Only later would I see it's actually mint and fennel/coriander that are what's actually in it.

My favorite of the 10 or so Di Ser that I’ve tried. This is actually aromatherapy. It’s a mint bomb with patchouli and herbs in the background. So refreshing and one of my favorites for a spring morning. 5/5

I really enjoy this spicy mint and citrus fragrance. Very cleansing and invigorating smell with the refinement of Japanese culture.

Di Ser Tsuki (2000) - minty basil - Upfront, I will tell you this isn’t a traditional cologne or western perfume. #yasuyukishinohara crafts an end-to-end, farm to bottle, all-natural perfume using ingredients from his farm in Hokkaido Japan. Starts with Peppermint mixed Lemon and Basil. Fresh, clean and uplifting. Then, the mint sweetens and I get a pine trees and juniper berries. It dries down to a Fresh Patchouli accord. What makes it different? Unlike western perfume that resembles an orchestra playing, Japanese perfumery showcases the talents of each ingredient like soloists. It’s not the quantity of ingredients, but showcasing quality & mastery and how each transition to one another. As a wearer, this is a perfume that you take in slowly and gives you pause to be mindful.

One of the more affordable fragrances in the DI SER line—around $100 for 30ml—Tsuki opens with a burst of bitter citrus and herbs, coming across as somewhat medicinal in nature. Once the top notes settle and Tsuki warms up on the skin, I get a pleasant green aromatic spice that reminds me EXACTLY of the scent of Aveda products. Tsuki is beautifully blended and high quality, longevity was decent with just a few small dabs from the sample, and sillage was low-to-moderate. I love the fragrance, but the similarities to Aveda, at least at this point, will likely deter me from pulling the trigger on a full bottle. But I’ve got a good amount left of my sample, so perhaps I will change my mind after repeated wearings. Definitely worth checking out.

The peppermint blast at the beginning made me think: toothpaste. And the lime at the beginning screams: bugspray. But the dry down is not bad with the lime and patchouli. Reminds me of the MUJI store steam scents. Organic, light, and Japanese. Surprisingly, long lasting. Edit: Upon trying it again, I see the appeal of the strong mint more. This is due to a personal experience of smelling a strong mint fragrance on a man while working out and just thinking he smelled so fresh and clean like an invigorating morning routine. I might try to wear this at the gym too for the same effect

A mesmerizing and therapeutic citrus spice fragrance, my first foray into this eclectic Japanese natural fragrance house takes its name from the moon and is absolutely resplendent without overpowering. The central note is a beautiful green geranium which is surrounded by notes of lemon, grapefruit, coriander, basil and fennel. This is like getting a nice relaxing therapeutic massage. It is calming, serene and rejuvenating. Moderate in sillage and projection and beautifully blended. The perfect fragrance to curl up in bed with after a long day or to rejuvenate tired nerves. Enjoy!

Since I'm not a huge fan of mint, I've been dismissing this fragrance not knowing it's actually not as minty as voters led me to believe...I smell more basil and juniper tbh.

if you’re into this try montes la jolie instead it’s just an all around better version imo

First impression- an intense lemon blast that luckily isn’t a medicinal or lemon cleaning product style citrus opening. I was really excited to try this but after maybe 20 minutes it becomes almost totally mute and disappears. Maybe it’s supposed to this based on the description of the fragrance? I will say that for the notes that did last, it is a well crafted citrus, herbal and green compound; it feels fresh, green and not overpowering. After a few hours - Hours? I’ll be generous and give this maybe 30 minutes max before it totally went away and left me with nothing. Not a skin scent, no citrus aftermath, nothing. Sillage and longevity- basically nonexistent. When I try these samples on I try to start out with smaller amounts and build as I never know how intense something may or may not be. With this one, I basically bathed in it and it still had poor projection and poor longevity. Would I buy a bottle - Based on the poor performance alone, no. 3 words to describe this scent - fleeting, citrus, fresh

Immediately thrust into a musty dental office. I'm getting my teeth cleaned. The air conditioning tundra/sound of the drill bits are making me nervously twist my hands into the sleeves of my sweater. Notes of peppermint, surgical lights that have not been dusted in a few weeks, a few decaying plants in the window, clamminess. Within maybe five or so minutes it dissolves into a more woody scent. The mint is less clinical. I get a lingering basil note. I'm cleaning the drawers below my bed with a natural essential oil-esque soap. At 30 minutes its effectively gone. I will use this on my pillows at night while I brush my teeth as to evade dental nightmares Edit: after months of trying to enjoy this, it has worsened and now smells like a used mint dental floss. I actually hate it

Ok so at first spray I thought it was too minty, like bubblegum mint. However, when this dries down the peppermint is less prominent and the patchouli comes through! It's a cool patchouli vs a warm Patchouli which I *love*. This reminds me of a natural store 😅 so meditative, clean, peaceful scent. ☮️ Love this and it's officially on my wishlist.

A study in the highest pitch and camphorous aspect of mint aromatic. Probably my least favourite from the house (it was a blindbuy). The top notes have some 'semblance' of complexity but I would have prefer more depth, twist or something interesting that extends to the base. It has poor usable longevity so I spray it on fabric to help with that somewhat. Will be good for frequent top ups during high heat but won't be a repurchase for me as it lacks the extra factor. Personally, if I want another mint scent, I would go with Lush's Dirty. Not a perfect substitute for Tsuki (as Dirt focuses on the greener and leafy aspects of mint) but you get a natural smelling mint scent that is a fraction of the price and does not rely on screechy laundry musk. Terrible longevity too but hey, its easier on the wallet.

Minty, medicinal patchouli and lemon. Very natural smelling, like at the Life stores with natural remedies. Not for me who likes more wearable scents :) If you want mint - try Diptyque Eau Menthe instead!

i had mixed mostly good feelings on this one & i think you'll sort of understand why in a minute it's sexy & beautiful for what it is - a green woody outdoorsy citrus scent that verges on being a good quality expensive air freshener (hey i know some of you are spending $100 or more on room sprays & Diptyque candles so you know what i'm talking about) but i still like it, i wouldn't mind owning a travel size or possibly a decant some day it's bright citrusy, woody, clean, mentholated, herbal, medicinal with notes of terpenic camphor, burning wood smoke, & peppery yuzu - it has a recognizable Japanese construction - clean natural smelling ingredients specific to & mostly found in Japan... why is this important? it has that quality of being executed well by a skilled artisan of their craft

Opens very minty. And so natural smelling too like Mint leaves. I use mint in cooking and tea so i recognize that smell of mint. Doesn't get more natural than this. As it calms down that's where the lemon and basil comes in. Not zesty lemon, mixed with mint and basil tones down that zestyness. It's more the sweet nature of the lemon here. Don't detect any patchouli here, but i guess it's there to round everything off. Overall just very natural smelling. Of everything i've tried, this house makes the most natural smelling and simple scents out there, PERIOD. Beauty in it's simplicity is the right term to use for this house. Not seducing or sexy in any way, just refreshing and clean smelling scents that makes them appropriate for any casual or job setting.

I get SenSen breath mints:herbal medicinal licorice chews with a soapy edge, drying to distinct mentholated patchouli, like a New Age book store. Not bad, ever, but i smell like Billy Joel Keeping the Faith. And my husband hates black licorice and is none too fond of patchouli. It just misses being hippy patchouli and dries to a softer version, definitely more green as others reviewed, but overall, it’s too much herby licorice for me. Just herbal, or just licorice, or just mint would be fine, but the combination here is too much like 1950’s breath freshener to me. Which is kind of funny: my sister thinks it's hilarious and kept the sample so she could smell like SenSen.

A herbal lover’s dream straight from Di Ser’s own garden in Sapporo. I clearly pick out geranium, mint and juniper creating an uplifting atmosphere. For reference, this is a natural and more luxurious version of F.Malle Geranium pour monsieur. Tsuki reminds me of a traditional spa center. The thing which stands out in all Di Ser’s fragrances is the materials. Natural from their own garden, it makes a huge difference for the overall impression. Thats why they have become one of my favourite houses. Outstanding!

I got a sample of this along other purchases I made. I applied it liberally. It opens with a cool burst of mint, green enhanced by citrus. On my skin it turns very sweet for a while, then the minty aspect recedes in favour of a crushed greens spice that is quite cool, like seeing the moon on a clear night. Unfortunately, my skin "eats" the fragrance in 10 mins. I think it would be great applied to a cardigan or light jacket for walking in cooler nights.

Unlike anything i’ve ever smelled. So natural! Opening is minty yes but it develops beautifully! I just wish it lasted longer!
