Fuel For Life Femme

Very impressed with this gem.Generally I'm not a fan of citrus fragrances due to A) their performance and B) Thier lack of the oriental which is kinda what I gravitate towards. However the lemon/mandarin at the top of this fragrance is married with an effervescence that makes it fizz and pop.Once paired with the patchouli, this fizzing citrus gains a more earthy quality,stopping it from being a fresh fruity fragrance and adding a depth that helps to not only excentuate the tang from the citrus fruits but journeys you into the fruits core and it's organic beginnings. Personally I detect no floral element but do notice a very soft musk.Instead of helping to establish and round off the base of the fragrance I feel the musk sorrounds those notes from the beginning and softens their zing whilst still allowing enough facets of the lemon/mandarin to shine through and not be weighed down by the earthy patchouli. I see many comments say that the longevity and sillage are bountiful.My own experience has been much more up and down.Some days I hardly notice it after an hour and some days (like the day I went to the hairdresser's) I suffocate myself and anyone close to me. Maybe it's my skin or maybe it's the weather but I can't give a clear opinion on its performance. Overall the fragrance is fantastic, a real find for patchouli lovers that have become tired of the endless use of patchouli as a base 'filler' note and long for a fragrance that uses patchouli in a new and exciting way.

Mamacita caliente in a bottle!! ('hot little mama" in spanish) Fuel For Life is quite strong. I think a perfume collector must have a few strong perfumes in his or her collection as I learned is important for certain situations. I used Fuel For Life on an international flight that spanned 3 continents. The whole time I did not have access to a shower!!! At the end of it all was surprised ....Fuel did not ditch me half way through my trip!!! I still smelled good when I arrived at my destination. I was shocked by its longevity and how it bloomed into something beautiful when given time to work with my chemistry (like arin.widhiasi). Fuel for life is a unique patchouli based perfume and is worth a try. Diesel smells divine on my skin and I never cease to be noticed for it. The element which others have described as "synthetic" is one that I would compare more to a mineral like gold or garnet. As if it were an olfactory representation of beautiful things that ordinarily have no pre-existing scent. Expecting perfumes to smell always like flowers and foods and combinations of them is going to limit your artistic fragrance palette desperately. I don't know if anyone else has detected it, but smelling the lid of the bottle presents me with delicate top notes of liquorice. I applaud Diesels designers for the unique creation they have in Fuel For Life and percieve the wearer of the fragrance to be sophisticated and classy but with a spontaneous fun streak. You have to be a little crazy to make this work for you. I'm seeing images of beautifully chic office girls stealing road signs in their stilettos to decorate their apartment. Fuel For Life sits between the boundaries of professionalism and rebelious, robust fun. Hope there are others out there who agree with me. It's my favourite.

I believe this fragrance suits me the best. I really love trying new perfumes so I've tried them a lot last years but I think after 5 years I am just going back to this strong powerful scent. If you are a WOMAN, more classy than posh but in the same time intrigued by some real MAN stuff and you don't mind strong perfume I believe this is a fragrance for you. With this perfume I have linked a picture of a woman with hair from the 50's, wearing fishnet stockings, a little black dress, red nails and lipstick, lots of pearls and in one hand a smokey whiskey and in the other hand a revolver..strong, powerful, elegant but dangerous not afraid to get smudged :)) And to the notes.. I agree that you can smell something like real fuel in it :) but I always liked the smell of my fathers garage..and after a while I can smell something sexy probably the patchouli and..I don't know why but I smell blackcurrants in it :) sweet spicy juicy blackcurrants

For years this was my signature, and honestly, it’s still shockingly good. Picture tangerine, jasmine and a whiff of star anise, all lacquered with resins that lean half-balsamic, half-incense. A generous dose of patchouli grounds it: earthy yet crisp, clean rather than grubby. Every so often, out of nowhere, even a juicy pineapple note pops up. It lasts forever, smells addictive, and yet somehow vanished from perfume history. Of course, this fuel isn’t perfect... that crown belongs to the sacred, bohemian Timbuktu. But it’s definitely a guilty pleasure, and a mystery why it never built a larger cult.

This was the fragrance choice of some of my friends during our early 20s ‘3 nights out per week’ era - how we had the stamina, I will never know. It’s a clean patchouli in the same way that Coco Mad is clean and fresh, but I think that’s where the similarities end. This is peppery and orangey - it stays pretty linear for its duration. I bought this purely for nostalgia value but was delighted to find that I enjoy wearing it myself. It lasts about 3 hours on me but does definitely quieten down quickly. It’s fresh, easy to be around, not headache-inducing. All in all, not bad for £18.

Finally it's mine! =D Yesterday there was a special offer at the mall for Fuel for Life and i had to have it.Now my collection of the female FFLs is complete.I am in loove with the whole FFL-series, it's just so me. This scent is absolutely wonderful, my skin loves Diesel. FFL is a unique beautiful smell and has this personality to it which I love. It's airy, fresh and breezy and yummy. I'd say Unlimited is slightly stronger and spicier. Hopefully Diesel will continue to come with as wonderful fragrances as FFL.=) FFL overall is a sexy, edgy scent, exactly what I love.

anche se qualcuno lo definisce "sintetico" in senso cattivo, a me questo profumo piace, e pure tanto. ai primi spruzzi parte una gradevole sensazione fresca e pungente di arancia e pepe rosa, quasi tonificante. quindi l'evoluzione approda su un bel patchouli per nulla greve o dolce, direi piuttosto secco, probabilmente per il vetiver che lo circonda. mi sembra la controparte fredda di liberte di cacharel, che pure ha patchouli e arancia nella sua piramide, ma che punta ad un effetto più caldo e resinoso. molto buono.

I guess this is one of those fragrances that you either love or hate, and I LOVE it. I don't get the "gas station smell" that others were talking about, with my chemistry it's more like a sweet lemon tea, maybe with a hint of ginger, which is great for hot weather. I have a mini and will be getting a full size bottle. I was looking for a light, sweet and invigorating scent for summer and this is it. Longevity is not bad, about 4-5 hours. I also like that fact that it did not turn synthetic on me.

Well, this is not just a perfume, this is a legend. I felt so attached 10 years ago when I bought my first bottle. This fragrance always give me strength and power. This is a strong fragrance with a strong opening, so it is definitely not a blind buy if you prefer something light and soft. Now it’s my second bottle of it, I don’t wear it as often as I used to be but it is very heartwarming and unforgettable scent. Definitely repurchase a third one as well. This is forever love.

I think there is a mistake in the notes here. According to the official site of Diesel these are the notes: Top notes: Mandarin, Pink pepper Middle notes: Jasmine, Blackcurrant Base notes: Patchouli, Musk All I could smell in this perfume was blackcurrant and that's why I searched for the notes. I adore this bold fragrance but I use it only when I go out at night because I find it too strong for daytime use. It gives me confidence and it lasts more than 12 hours.

I honestly think this should be an essential in every collection. It's the perfect fresh patchouli scent that works for anyone at any time. It was one of the first scents in my collection and I'll always make sure to have a bottle. I really would not mind wearing this every day, as it's just the right amount of unique to feel a little, but not too "out there". The performance is also really good. For such a great price this is close to perfect.

This isn't hideous at all to me... it is actually a very warm pleasant scent. You can't smell the bottle, you have to spray it and let it dry to get it's true nature, if just sniff the bottle it doesn't smell anything like the fragrance upon drydown. When the salesperson at Macy's showed it to me I was prepared to hate it but it actually reminded of Hugo Boss' XX in some way but has more of a bite to it. Very wearable fragrance that I love.

A big favourite of mine, this might well be described as a hidden gem in my collection. It's the kind of scent to make someone curious to know more about you. Full of contradictions, it is simultaneously dark and light. Playfully seductive, but with an intentional wryness that belies its branding. Certainly youthful, but not immature. It's very cheeky, very sexy, and exudes a naughty yet knowingly confident air. I love it.

Divine. A Vanilla and Mango bomb. I used this in 2010 and finished the entire bottle that year. Everyone asks you what are you wearing and they love it. Sometimes it gave me a headache even though it really comes out in summer, I assume now it's a perfume suitable to winter, spring and Fall. I wish they still have the original around, haven't checked, but Max Mara's Pour Femme is the identical and classier sister to this.

I used this in early 2000's and loved it. I was sure it was discontinued but to my surprise I found it online for next to nothing! It is very patchouli-heavy so if you dont like that note you wont like this. It is warm, spicy and slightly unisex but still feminine. It is smooth as velvet. I adore it and im so happy to have it in my collection again. Suitable for any season and occasion in my opinion. Rating: 9/10

Pink pepper and patchouli make it sexy and stylish. I see some similarity to the Coco Mademoiselle. Very nice and interesting scent. I would actually use it as a cheaper version of the Coco mademoiselle. Great scent that smells like a classic, but is not. This amazing perfume is one of my favorites now. Edit: I tried it on myself and I was amazed, it's just perfect, I was feeling really elegant!

for sure is not for everyone!!it's so unique that you can't be indifferent, yes..a love or hate perfume!!i gind it way too intresting, it dos not reminds me anything of other perfumes and that is a bonus for me.in my skin seems to last forever..!and i can say it is the only perfume that has beeen left in the bottle from last winter(don't wear it in summer!!) and i'll start wearing it again...

Repurchased it again after 9 years. Tangy mandarine with a touch of pink pepper. And alot of lovely patchouli!!! If Fuel for Life was a rock band, then patchouli is definitely the drummer of the band and all the other notes are following its beat! Love it! I think it's fresh and elegant yet sexy. When nice meets naughty! Great for summer and autumn. Especially rainy days and evenings.

@margoval, thanks for that, i totally agree, something seems incorrect with the notes listed. I also get mainly blackcurrant with this fragrance, as well as the pepper... Its a stunning scent which i love, perfect for nights out, fresh + sweet & spicy all at once, and very long lasting. Just curious about the nutmeg listed...?

Over time it gets absolutly lovely, certain notes become prominent as the day goes on and changes with you, ending with a beutiful warm kinda patchouli, lasts ages. Its a harsh start so i only do the 'spray in the air and walk into' a couple of times front and backwards for a good cover. Its a sexy scent, very strong feminine.

Out of the perfumes I've owned, this one is probably the best. It's floral, spicy, and fresh. I don't smell too much woody notes in it. It's feminine. I would describe it as a grown up girly perfume. I haven't smelled anything that was similar to Diesel Fuel for Life, which makes it the most unique perfume I've owned.

I agree with some other reviewers that this perfume is highly underrated. This, for me, smells like sex in a bottle. It’s warm, spicy and very long lasting. It used to be my signature scent for years. I don’t know why I never repurchased it again. Maybe I will someday...

All of the negative reviews are surprising to me! I spritz it twice on my torso about an hour before going out to let it mellow, and it lasts all night and into the morning. It makes me feel super sexy and who does not want that feeling?! Love, love, love it!

This is a gorgeous perfume, starts fresh and settles on my skin in a sweet, but not overly sweet. The orange gives way to the nutmeg and jasmin, and although i cant see musk in it, yes, it ends very musky on my skin, a wonderfull fragrance!!!!!!

Fuel For Life Femme unique soft but it's now a forgotten gem. The sillage lingers on and on. So many fragrances can't get near 1/10th of Fuel for Life quality. It's a compliment getter for such a simple fragrance....... punk vibes too 🖤

i received this perfume last winter..january i believe..it`s so unique..for me at least it has something exotic..nice..but at one moment i couldn`t use it anymore..gives me headeach so i will pass it to my sister which adores it

Un aroma diferente, fuerte y que hace voltear cabezas. Algunas personas la aman y otras no tanto. Personalmente me gusta por eso, porque no huele a otra. Dura bastante. Es sexy y te hace sentir "fuerte".

Category: Patchouli Notes: This is a very linear scent with pretty much only patchouli from start to finish. There's maybe a hint of citrus and nutmeg in there, but it's so mild it barely makes an impression. Vibe: Summer of 2008. Dancefloor. Low-rise jeans. Halterneck tops. Popsicle. Dancing. Sweat. Hot summer nights. "Maneater" by Nelly Furtado. Sillage: 5.5/10. A little on the milder side, but definitely still noticeable. I'd say this is a skin scent unless you completely overspray. Longevity: 7/10. Will definitely last you a good 6-8 hours. Wear: Strictly summer and evening wear. This is the perfect perfume for a night out clubbing or raving. Overall rating: 6.5/10. Old but gold, this baby was one of my first real perfumes. I remember wishing for (and getting) this for my 11th birthday back in 2007, when my choices were fully influenced by how cool the TV advertisements were and not much else. After nearly a decade of not being able to find my bottle, fully accepting it was probably gone forever, I discovered it at the bottom of an untouched box of memorabilia I'd put together in my late teens. There's only a couple of drops left at the bottom; evidence of how well-loved this scent once was. One of my most vivid memories wearing this was my older step-sister going on an angry rant about how good this smelled on me, while it made her "smell like an old lady". All the nostalgia aside, I still think this is a fantastic fragrance, although in hindsight I would definitely say this is perhaps a little too adult for an 11-year old. Being patchouli forward it's earthy, aromatic and incredibly sexy. While I know a lot of people associate patchouli with hippies, I wouldn't call this bohemian or unkempt, but more so wild and a little outrageous. This is sex appeal in a bottle, it's the girl that's always on the dance floor at the club - hot, sweaty and lost in the primal instinct of movement. This scent was with me throughout my teens and definitely defined those years when I was a bit of a wild-child. I don't think she fits me anymore at this stage of my life, but maybe one day she'll make a comeback. Who would wear it?: Megan Fox circa 2009. Whoever Nelly Furtado was singing about in “Maneater” she'd definitely be wearing this.

Fuel for Life - Diesel, was one of my first meeting with modern perfumes ( I say "modern", precisely because my only olfactory references was the guerlains of my teachers or the givenchy who my grand mother was wearing...) . Early 2000', might have 14 years ol and. FFL was the personnal perfume of my younger sister. I have clear memories about this scent, It's beginning first with a big blast of citrus,orange,lemon and co, very acid but covered whit cane sugar. Extrêmely fresh and fusing, but also very acid AND "Sugar-juicy". Like someone pressed lemon, orange, kiwi, litchi, clementine and mix it with big sugar cubes. When the sweetened fruits are ripening, we add a marmit of musk, a dirty dirty musk! This kind of scent when someone just finished his training and then wear a freshly washed outfit. That was my to note's impression for the 2000' version. Unfortunately, these top notes disappeared completely (from my nose ). IT Stays th gentle et sober floral-woody trail, who is recognizable of the ancient version. The first edition has this particular energy, a little rebel, teenager-like. This actual is way more sober and provocative. No more sweat drop in this potion, just flowers and wood, and ripenned fruit. This perfume who gave me image of a forbidden night-party under-ground (with associeted ideas of alcohol, play,sex etc.), is become a pretty familly walk on a sunday afternoon. I think this is the first time where a perfume I loved suffer of an obvious reformulation. Then, you have two choices : - accept the new one just like it is - Give it up Option 3 : Hunting on th whole internet to find a Prrrrrecious vintage of your favourite. To resume this review, i think the actual formulation of this perfume is not bad, maybe it growned with its public? Actually, I'll don't repurchase it anymore.

This was a blind buy for me, and boy, was I surprised by its smell given the notes listed. I’m profoundly surprised that vanilla (or something similarly sweet) isn’t listed; I don’t associate any of the listed notes with the sweetness (or is it powderiness?) in this frag. In the opening I get a lot of mandarin orange (both the sweet juice and the bitter zest) and vetiver—an almost pencil-shaving woodiness, but the patchouli and something sweet/powdery rounds that out, so it’s not unpleasant. The dry down is much more powdery sweet, though the woodiness stays. The patchouli is present, but far from the front row, as are any floral notes. Even though mandarin orange is listed first, this is really not a citrus perfume to my nose. I wasn’t wild about this frag when I first tried it, which was disappointing considering what a diehard fan I am of both Annick Menardo and Thierry Wasser. But after a few weeks I have it another go, and realised that I actually do like it. In fact, I love it. I tend to overspray frags because my skin just seems to eat them, but this one not only doesn’t need overspraying, but actually suffers from it. A light hand will bring the best out of Fuel for Life. There’s a nostalgic element to this frag for me; I wore Demeter/Fragrance Library Sugar Cookie in my early 20s, and this smells like a more grown-up, earthier and complex version of that. It also performs much better than that one did; I can still smell it on my wrists the next day (after only one spray per wrist), and it lasts forever on clothes. Lately I’ve been enjoying layering it with Dior Joy Intense; they compliment each other well. It turned out to be a safe blind buy. Eventuallly.

You know that Coco Madamoiselle advert where Keira Knightley jaunts around an empty Paris in a skintone jumpsuit on a definitely not remotely phallic motorbike to have creepy photoshoot sex with Some Guy? The model who embodies Fuel For Life (probably Elizabeth Van der Horst or another MMA fighter/model) would speed past on a black Harley - flipping Knightley the bird with a perfectly manicured nail - before proceeding to decimate a world record for crossing America. Fuel For Life has some bloody stamina, lets put it that way. I can apply it at eight o'clock in the morning, have a full (and pretty physical) day at work - and then by close to midnight when I shower before bed - I'll suddenly realise that my perfume (or at least the base thereof) is still coming in loud and clear, and it takes plenty of shower gel to lift that tough base. Now, there's some fragrances I own with a comparable longevity *cough Chic Caroline Herrera cough*, which are about as welcome as a sty under winged eyeliner, but Fuel For Life is such a soulful fragrance - it just wants to make you feel good, and strong. I'm one of those people who perfumes by mood, and this is the one I wear when I know I'm about to have a long day. It won't go down without a fight and it won't let you either.

I was very Very surprised by how well I like this fragrance. It reminds me a bit of Versace versense but without the horrifying topnotes. It is the perfect blend of spicy and sweet and perfect for low-key everyday wear. I honestly wouldn't have picked it out were it not at my boyfriend's insistence (a big fan of jasmine and spices) and I find it (if a bit unsophisticated) quite wearable and pleasant. The pink pepper makes all of the difference in this chypre. It is light and floral without being aged and perfect for classes. I give it a major thumbs up for days I don't feel I need to smell like a femme fatale but still want to smell hip and pretty. Major recommendation for those in their 20s (as I am.) Bonus: I received free body lotion on special and the price was greatly reduced on the juice. Can't go wrong there. It is a more classy every day scent. Negative: the alcohol on the onset is a bit strong to me (cheap perfume alert) but after dry-down it becomes a spicy sweet bouquet. Very male-friendly.

This one genuinely surprised me! I'd always been a little put off by Diesel's gimmicky marketing, so I never really gave their perfumes a chance. Trying this made me rethink myself. Fuel for Life is at first glance another fruity patchouli oriental in the same vein as Coco Mademoiselle or Miss Dior Cherie. In my opinion, though, it improves on its predecessors. While perfumes like Coco Mademoiselle hold some pretense to being chic and refined, Fuel for Life gleefuly embraces its own cheapness and goes for the weird and glitzy instead. It takes the fruitchouli to such extremes that it creates an almost gummy bears effect, with a medicinal, peppery note reminiscent of hippie shops and pharmacies that stops it from being cloying. Basically, it's not merely pretty. It's also got a wicked sense of humour. Add it to the category of "Perfumes I can give my rebellious teen niece", with Agent Provocateur and LouLou.

I LOVED this in my early to mid 20s. Back then I had no clue what any of the single notes were. I just loved its sweet fruity spritzy zingyness. And I loved the feel of the lace over the bottle. Frankly... if I am very very honest to myself... it smelled a bit as if you were out with your friends and one of them accidentally poured some champagne (or if we are very very VERY honest some cheaper fruity kind of bubbly alcoholic beverage) on you. I remember it does develop some peppery warmth on the dry down too. In any case something about it always psyched me up and energized me a great deal. Loved it in winter as well as in summer. But yeah, I'm 34 now, recently smelled it again in a store... and... nah... It's definitely for a younger crowd, but even then I feel it might already start to smell a bit dated. Might be wrong, but personally really don't feel drawn to it anymore.

Tried this in the shop and the first thing I thought was "why is this making me feel nostalgic for the early '90s?" then I realised it's because the opening (the fist 30 minutes at least) smells very similar to The Body Shop's Dewberry perfume, which I was hopelessly addicted to (used to use the full line religiously) when I was in my early-mid teens. Wasn't sure I relished the thought of smelling like my 14-year-old self all these years later, but then it calmed down some more and I really rather liked it as the 'Dewberry' wore off and it turned in to a lovely woodsy, incensy aroma, which made me feel like I smelled warm and inviting...and I like that! Bought a bottle & loving it- feels like a great way to secretly relive my youth, but wrapped up in a little maturity and sophistication...lots of fun! :D

Very good. In the beggining (top notes) 'diesel FFL' reminded me Abril (victorio & lucchino) and diorissimo, two scents I tested years ago and, to be true, I don't know them very well, but they had (to my nose) a funeral vibe. Not a good idea... Over time though 'diesel FFL' developed into a delicious and comfortable scent. It's not sweet or overpowering or invasive nor sexy (imo). It's nice for everyday use, appropriate for office. Poor longevity/sillage though; after a few hours I couldn't smell it as in the beggining, but I smelt it softly in my hair and behind my ears when I moved. So good! Edit: I can't understand these descriptions or classifications... In this page: "chypre floral" group? "chypre floral notes"? I don't think so. To me chypre is another thing. Diesel FFL is floral.

There are a lot of patchouli + jasmine + citrus fragrances out there. I think Diesel's offering manages to hold it's own. Patchouli is definitely prominent as anyone can see looking at the note pyramid. I don't find it particularly dirty though, more woody. The mandarin has a nice bittersweet quality. The jasmine isn't what I'd call "dirty" but it definitely has some of that heady, night blooming quality. I'd say it actually smells a bit more like carissa. If you reside in Southern California you'll be familiar. They're those bushes with tiare looking flowers that are everywhere. I don't really get a pronounced gasoline type note. There is something that reminds me a bit of Fahrenheit (also noted for having a gasoline type smell) but it's not strong. Comes and goes.

I bought this when I was quite young. I didn't know anything about the brand and my older model-sister wore this and I really looked up to her, so that's why I got it. I loved the scent, and even though I don't remember it being heavy on me, I always remember getting in the same car as my sister and the whole car would smell of her perfume. I still love this scent but I don't know if it is for nostalgic reasons.

Love this scent!Used it actually as a base for Poison.First i would apply Fuel For Life and after a few minutes would spray Poison on.And voila weapon of mass destruction!i really like perfume layering and in this case whenever i used Fuel, Poison would evolve much better(and less bitter on my skin), travel through the air and leave a trace..Better suited for nightime in this combination.

Literally giving Angel Loreal formula without the sugar/cotton candy vibe, diesel is more peppery fresh floral to my nose which is really nice as sometimes angel feels overwhelming. Glad I have this in my collection! I got an old bottle so I'm reviewing the old formula of 2008, very versatile can be worn all year around and would work very well for layering with other scent profiles

Well I like this fragrance! So, I don't really understand the bad reviews of Luciana and collector, but I respect their point of view! I think this fragrance is warm, sweet and very long lasting (it lasts all day) and it's delicious! This scent makes me feel confident and I've got a lot of compliments when I wear this one!=) It's classy and vibrant and I recommend it!
