Only The Brave

I've smelled this so many times at my local boutique, had so many "peel and apply to skins" and so many opportunities to review this, i'd say it's about damn time i finally did it. While at my favorite boutique last weekend i decided to make a nice size decant for reviewing purposes (i don't know why i haven't bought a big bottle yet) and actually having it so i can enjoy the fragrance whenever i please has made me fall in love with it 10FOLD. Every time i smell this i can't help but think how perfect it is for me, not to mention my skin doesn't eat it up in three hours (like it does with most fragrances). This, on my skin, lasts a good 24 hours+. Lets just say i was "impressed" with fuel for life...I am BLOWN away by this offering, which is weird considering how simple the composition is. One can also understand why some compare this to Allure homme sport. The top: Juicy, seething, sugared mandarin orange oozes out in a viscous, jelly like manor into my nostrils upon first application. Not exactly natural smelling, but definitely not unappealing or unidentifiable by any means. Almafi lemons, fresh from the freezer are crushed, ground, and splattered into a crude tart frozen creamy custard. The middle: Things begin to soften up here. Not so much in a way that detracts from the composition, but in a way that keeps it from acting too juvenile. Nuances of violet and coriander may be confused for the "smokiness" that some users are smelling. The base: (drools) Oh, styrax(storax) how i love you so. You are misty, cooling, slightly nutty and sophisticatingly sweet. Styrax(storax) and benzoin are really the wonderteam here in the base, and are the star of the show with no doubts.(if you want to pick out the note "styrax" i suggest you smell this up against Davidoff "Hot water"). Leather asserts the notion in the middle notes, and forces the two accords to act just as such. Nothing smells quite as nice as a smoked in leather jacket. ;) I approve Smell: 10 Longevity: 10+ Sillage: 9

Diesel Only The Brave Eau De Toilette is a must-have if you are a younger guy in his late teens or early twenties. I can’t imagine a scenario where a young guy wouldn’t make a good impression with this one. You can still pull it off if you are older like myself, it's all how you present yourself as a total package at the end of the day. For me personally, I still wear this once or twice a month typically for daytime and work uses. I have so many better and higher quality options for my evening fragrances now, so this one just doesn't make that line-up anymore. This is arguably an iconic fragrance, I still own the first bottle I purchased back in 2010. I suspect it is probably due to my age and the number of fragrances I have smelled over the years (not that I am a snob or anything), that it doesn't get as much use as it once did years ago. Having said that, I do respect it and remember my younger self loving this stuff and spraying it weekly for day and night use. The performance of Diesel Only The Brave is very good and has always given me a very solid 8 hours. It’s not a room filler, but it will get you noticed; there’s no question about that. It’s quite a loud fragrance with a long lasting strength and will continue to pump out for most of the day, so sillage and longevity are slightly above average. Considering that my bottle is now 14 years old and it hasn't spoiled, or lost any significant performance, it's safe to say that it's well made and probably doesn't possess any actual natural ingredients that do tend to spoil and disappear over time. Granted, I've also never abused my fragrances and store them in a dark room at a consistent temperature year round.

Esta FRAGANCIA ya es un icono de la Perfumería moderna, de cuyo equilibrado y componentes son una perfecta guía de como debe estructurarse un aroma masculino. Desde su salida citrica se sienten matices leves que denotan suavidad, frescura y naturalidad en las succiones evolutivas del aroma. En los primeros mitutos del secado ya se descubren matices ambar que van a ser junto con el cilantro y cumarina, el nexo de unión y continuidad, a un sinfin de matices de cuyo equilibrado es digno de los mejores trabajos perfumisticos. La Violeta es como el aderezo de un cuerpo que se va acuerando y volviéndose más formal he incluso más maduro y menos floral, amaderadose sin perder luminosidad. Careciendo de aristas ni salidas de tono. No aparecen siergias inapropiadas, sino que la fragancia tiene una evolución lenta y sin ecalonados. Se ha catalogado como una fragancia oriental, pero personalmente no siento esas densidades orientales o especiados opacos típicos, más allá de un cilantro ligero. En definitiva destaca por su ambivalència todo terreno ya que todo es sutil y suave, siempre en el rango medio de todas sus notas características. Resulta deliciosa y agradable destacando por su conjunto total y por su fondo persistente pero ligero. Es como que tiene un poco de todo el ABC de la perfumeria masculina y por tanto se queda para jovenes porque los hombres maduros suelen tener preferencia por aromas más intensos y resinoides amaderados. En definitiva una fragancia que estará por los siglos de los siglos en las estanterias comerciales de cada Navidad durante muchas generaciones, combirtiendose en un clásico .... Un saludo 🎉 ....

Para los que buscan un perfume con clase y distinción de alta gama especiados y con cardamomo y tonka o sándalo, definitivamente este no va ser de su agrado porque es prácticamente su antítesis. Es un aroma muy floral, amaderado limpio y con notas afrutadas de piña ambaradas que se proyecta muy bien. Es agradable y embaucador a través de su frescura ozónica que se siente expansiva y luminosa. La ausencia de notas claramente verdes se ve apoyada por un toque violeta ahumado. Es un aroma lineal que no tiene grandes cambios. Durante las cinco horas siguientes a su aplicación y después de su impetuosa salida donde marcadamente recuerda a Versage Eros pero menos hormonado y denso, va desapareciendo sutilmente ambarándose con notas animálicas de cuero, maderas de cedro y ambroxan que para algunas personas les puede parecer sintéticas, pero se siente bastante natural y muy floral sin ser nada femenino. En definitiva, es marcadamente juvenil y muy agradable, que engancha a la primera impresión por su limpieza y proyección. Por su versatilidad es un acierto si sólo quieres tener un perfume para todo. Es perfecto para el día día, salidas nocturnas, citas, oficina, y salidas al aire libre y aunque es duradero, su intensidad baja al cabo de unas horas y aconsejo reaplicar porque es un gustazo reanimarlo aunque se llame la atención tan agradablemente. Y como siempre.... Para el cavernícola, esto huele a rodajas de piña en un ramo de flores.😁😀😂

This one started it all for me. Actually first discovered it from a scent strip in a magazine before it was out. Instantly fell in love. If my memory serves me, I got this on the first day of release back in 2009 at Sephora. Now, I am too uneducated to meaningfully comment on reformulations but I do feel the original batch I have from 09 has a more pronounced freshness to contrast the syrupy heaviness and layers of this scent - making this an absolutely stunning fragrance. Regardless, this cologne newly made or not has always stood out to me. There is something so beautiful and bold here that I can’t seem to put into words. A masterfully crafted balance of light and dark is the best description I can muster. Also, the greatest wafts of magic come at unexpected moments with this one and I love that. The art of the bottle design... There is so much creativity to applaud. The fist is so dang cool. Life is too short to not enjoy “tacky” bottles like this. To me this is not tacky at all since there is so much purpose in the design, from the in-your-face fist that perfectly illustrates the concept of “only the brave”, the option of vertical or horizontal placement, the stunning colour, to the metal accents. I still remember that initial magazine ad and tester, thinking to my younger self “that cologne bottle is a fist!? I gotta have it” It drew me in then and still captivates me now. Just awesome.

Ok so let's start the long story short for the Blind Buyers who might want this cologne. It's beautiful and still one of my favorite scents I own. If you like masculine, deep rich sweet scents that are very smooth like Dolce & Gabbana The one. You'll likely enjoy Only the brave. This cologne walked into my life by accident. I bought a used broken car I was fixing up to learn stick on. The glove box had this bottle in it. Immediately tried it and fell in love. Still to this day about 10 years later I still absolutely love it. It's sweet but not too sweet. It's rich and masculine. Lovely for date night type cologne. Its longevity is a bit mixed from moderate to good depending on temperature. Clings to clothing nicely. Great fall/winter scent but I have worn this personally in spring and summer no problem as it works with my skin well. Still a lovely scent in the current market of fragrances. If you haven't tried it, definitely give it a shot. Bottle is misleading as this is what I would call a "Safe & Pleasant Crowd Pleasing scent". It instantly reminded me of Guess Seductive and had the same vibe, especially in the opening. It does smell different in the store on the tester than on my skin. I picked up a bottle on clearance because I like blue/Aquatic Fresh scents. To keep this simple...It smells good and will get compliments if that is what you are after, can work in almost any situation and actually projects more than you would think in the heat so go easy with the sprays. I get the young vibe from it, but I like it as a nice change up since I tend to not wear many "Sweet Powdery" scents which is what I get from this. I do not get any of the Invictus vibes myself, but It works in Spring/Fall as it can really jump off the skin in the heat. It is a good blue scent regardless of age, not overly masculine which is good at times. Surprised this is not talked about more. It has the same vibe as many of the most popular scents. Ignore the bottle design, try it out as it is a good value for sure.

My boyfriend had this when we met and I have purchased more bottles for him during the years. I know some think this is generic but really, as a girl this is one of the best perfumes for males to my nose. He always gets compliments on this one and it is very versatile so one can use it for almost all occasions and seasons. I myself have borrowed it quite a few times, and although I wouldn ́t say this is unisex I do think it can fit some girls. I have also received quite a few compliments on this one. I do however think I (and others) would hate it if it was popular, but here where i live few use it so it isn ́t very overused by men here (unlike any armani etc that is very common). My summary is that it is a compliment getter and very versatile, a good and affordable purchase.

Damn I love this, and I'll tell you why. It's fresh and masculine, and all you need is two sprays because it lasts and projects like a monster. Definitely a summer fragrance, but you could also get away with wearing in spring. Best worn for casual events or clubbing, I wouldn't wear this to the office or school unless you want to suffocate people sitting next to you. It can be very cloying if applied heavily. The scent is not over complicated, it's pretty linear but still smells good. It's simple and fresh, a safe blind buy and a great gift for a young man. You can also get this pretty cheap online, and testers are plentiful online.

As people say it has been reformulated but in my opinion for the best. The changes (IMO) are noticeable at the beginning where is not as citrus as before, before was a BLAST of citrus, strong, and now is more fruity/citrus like 80/20 and after that now is more masculine than before, before it was very violet, very flowery smell, unisex like. Now its more balanced and has more ambar from beginning to end. It smell good, not formal, more like playful/date scent. Last a lot, and if you need more then spray it on clothes.

I like. It remembers (top notes) me a fruiter, fresher and more energetic version of Gucci Guilty. IMO, it's a safe scent. It can be sexy. There is a hint of « humf ! ». Synthetic and clean : fruity-amber. It's not sophisticated. Rather versatile, but it's a better choice in the cold months. The performance is good. The morning, when you spray this eau de toilette before you go to the office, you feel invigorate and confident !

A great men's cologne. Nicely blended. Starts of fruity and woody. Dries down with violet, amber and woods which reminds me of Cavalli Just. The amber makes it lovely and rich. The overall effect is pleasant and versatile. Longevity and silage are both good. This is the sort of perfume I could reach for anytime and when you're not sure what to wear. The bottle is a bit tacky but, somehow, I love it. A pleasant and safe EDT.

I received a decant of this with my MB Explorer purchase. I have to say I like this one more as scents go. And might I add a lot more performance as well. In my opinion Diesel's marketing and design departments did a terrible job with this one as the juice colour and bottle design have nothing in common with the smell itself. A classier bottle and a more ambery juice would have made them a lot more money over the years imo.

For the women below trying this fragrance - go for it! If your skin chemistry can pull it off, the powdery amber dry down has a light playdoough type scent that smells fantastic on my girlfriend. The leather and animalic nature of this Diesel release isnt as strong as one would expect. However those elements are amped up in the extreme version. And for the great prices this sells for online these days, it's definitely fun.

With a few sprays left in the bottle I want to pay homage to this scent. Its been one of my best perfume friends in my project and as the scorching desert heat now at its peak, this will remain one of the best weapons. I will surely miss the light gin/vodka drydown and will go back to this when I get a new bottle. Not too soon though for I have other scents to try on for sure. Am I the only one that gets a bubblegum vibe with this fragrance?I even get like a aquatic vibe to,for some reason it reminds me of 2018 invictus aqua or like 1 million mixed with chanel allure homme,it's a great smelling fragrance that last long as well with great projection,im a older guy and I love this scent and just want to say that everything that smells fruity or like bubblegum isn't always for the young crowd

From a girl ́s point of view this smells super sexy and uplifting, I don ́t know how to describe the scent, all I can say is that whenever my boyfriend wears this I just want to bury my nose in his neck and keep smelling him until the scent goes away! I think it ́s appropriate for 18 to 40 years old men. I repurchased a bottle for my boyfriend cause I think he should keep wearing this perfume.

I love this scent and you can get it pretty cheap nowadays, I think I bought a 200ml bottle for £45. For me, it easily equals fragrances in the £50/100ml price range in terms of performance and smell. I'd recommend it to anyone as a nice, fresh citrus scent, versatile for pretty much any situation, maybe geared more for the younger crowd but anyone could pull off this people-pleaser.

Definitely a younger man's scent profile( teens and 20s).....although I'm in my mid 30s, I still enjoy it. Nothing ground breaking, great for out of the shower or running to the store type of a fragrance. You will get notice and was surprised with the performance.....I get 8-10 hours daily! I will soon retire this fragrance and gift it to my sons! They will enjoy this more than I do.

I'm telling you right now if you want to be the life of the party then wear this!! If you want to smell good for women and be noticed then this is it! It's masculine and it's sweet! This is a very appealing fragrance for any situation! Wear it anywhere where there are women! Man Diesel makes some really good and well made fragrances for the guys that rock! I give this a 9.5/10
