Bois Talisman

First things first. This does not remotely smell like By The Fireplace. Other than both having a smoke note, they don't have anything in common. Even then the smoke note is not the same. I've got two bottles of BTF, one that's about a year old and one that's about seven, and I feel I have a pretty good accounting for how that fragrance smells at different ages and intensities, and it's vastly different than this. That's like a painting of a table laden with food, and this is like a painting of a single candlestick. Don't get me wrong. I really like both. BTF demands attention and fills up a room, and Bois Talisman is much more subtle and understated. The smoke is drier, though the fragrance itself is creamier. It's also much less sweet than BTF, though the sweetness there is paired with a super loud smokiness (which again, I love), so maybe it's not reading to people as much? I detect an unlisted note of fig in Bois Talisman, which really makes it elegant. I detect mostly fig here actually. I don't get sugar and vanilla, really at all. Just a lot of fig. I really like the smoke. It's very realistic and airy, and not at all barbecue-esque or cloying. I'm not getting much cedar, and definitely no pencil shavings. The cedar is sort of there as a little bit of spicy backbone, but it could just be part of the smoke accord. I don't get incense, as some people have mentioned. Just smoke. Performance-wise, it's quite faint, for the price point. There's not much sillage here, but longevity seems decent. I got a 5ml decant of this just to try it, and I'd like it enough to be a little stupid with my money if it performed better. It isn't overly unique and not quite smokey enough to really get me, either. It's a decent, upscale, unisex smoked fig to me with some interesting side notes, and it definitely feels like it leans more niche than luxury. It honestly feels like an Imaginary Authors fragrance to me. So overall: is it nice? Yes. Is it worth the money? No. Is this a dupe of By The Fireplace or vice versa? Absolutely not even close. If you wanted something that gives this vibe (or the vibe it SHOULD have, based on the notes) at a low price point, I'd maybe grab Mercedez Benz Club Black. If you want something that smells like this actually smells but at a lower price point, I recall Yesterday Haze by Imaginary Authors being pretty similar. This is all creamy fig to me, especially after the first few minutes. But if you got mad money and you like gently smokey, creamy fragrances, then go nuts, pal. If I could justify the price of a bottle, I'd have ordered this yesterday.

Finally doing a proper sampling of Bois Talisman, one of the most recent releases (from earlier this year) in the Dior Privee line, a spicy, woody, resinous blend that for me, instantly clicks and feels like a good blend of classy, sweet, woody, powdery, and ambery. The principal listed notes are vanilla, sugar, smoke, and cedarwood, probably a bit of an oversimplification of the scent. I think “smoke and sugar over a woody, resinous base” feels appropriate. The wood does not feel terribly specific, and the smoky aspect makes me think of incense, even it’s not a listed note/ingredient. Fittingly it’s a more cold-weather-leaning option, but I don’t regard it as too heavy or overpowering to wear, say, on a summer night, and its coherence and elegance help with that (I feel largely the same way about the super strong Feve Delicieuse and Mitzah, which, if worn lightly, too can work in the heat, I’d argue). In total, it’s a well-rounded, classy, modern, sweet/woody/smoky blend that is worthy of the line. It also reminds me a bit of Vanilla Diorama, something that occurred to me when I first smelled it some weeks ago, but side by side, the two fragrances are different enough to the point that they’re both worth having (if you love both) and they’re both of course worth smelling independently to figure out if you want one more than the other. Vanilla Diorama has been rumored to be on the chopping block, a move that I estimated put Bois Talisman in a position to be a more neutral, agreeable, less gourmand replacement, but for now, Vanilla Diorama still seems to be around, so I quite like the idea of both being in the line up for a bit. Vanilla Diorama is more niche, Bois Talisman more the woody, more masculine-leaning mainstay statement, though I prefer VD overall. As with the rest of the Privee line, Bois Talisman is EDP concentration and is priced at $465/330/220 for 200/100/50ml, of course a huge jump in pricing from several years ago, when the sizes offered were 250/125ml. It performs very well, however, and overall, the line’s current pricing is still reasonable when contrasted with where some other brands have landed up. It’s just that the pricing so was so reasonable before (perhaps $210 for 125ml, if memory serves correct) that makes the increase so striking. I believe it’s sold only via the house website / boutiques, either standalone stores or within department stores that carry the Privee line, at least in the US. 8 out of 10

When this first launched I did not like it. I also do not like By The Fireplace by MMM and always thought it an overrated fire pit smoke scent. In general MMM fragrances are not worth the coin and don't last even though they are considerably less expensive than Diror Privee. I agree they are somewhat similar and there some out there that believe this is just an expensive dupe of BTF. I probably wouldn't have revisited BT again but I am a huge fan of the Dior Privee line and have all but Eau Noire (absolutely awful) and Cologne Blanche (boring), and until this last week Bois Talisman. I was going through my samples and tried this one again. I think my nose has changed. I fell in love with the depth, smokiness and creamy vanilla. Couldn't stop smelling it and swooning. I mostly get the creamy vanilla and an underlying booziness more than the smoke myself. I also get a slight powdery base but that doesn't kick in until hours later but I appreciate it. Is it that I'm tired of summer and my nose reacted to the difference between freshies and the dark depth of BT? Maybe. In any event, I had to go return something at a store that carries Dior Privee. Once I got there that store was having a promotion which made the steep purchase a little more palitable. I'm rocking this right now. My husband just came around the corner and asked if I lit one of the Christmas candles in August! :). I'm craving an outdoor fire now with a big glass of red wine whilst wrapped up in a big blanket to accompany my new fragrance. This fits the autumn scent I crave right now well. It's also beastly. I opened my laundry hamper and could smell it on the cloths I wore to the store which I sprayed. It's in my hair too. So be careful. I appreciate this isn't for everyone. I do feel that if you like scents like BTF, BabyCat and Grand Soir, this is different enough to explore. It's well worth the money as it is so strong. I bought the big bottle and feel it'll come to the grave with me. Definitely makes me feel something positive, which isn't that why we all love fragrance?

This is a review of Bois Talisman by Dior from the Privée line. Nose: Francis Kurkdjian Other notable compositions: for his own line Grand Soir, Baccarat Rouge 540, Oud Satin Mood and Le Male, Ultra Male for JPG. Purchased In August 2025 from the Doir boutique in Selfridges Manchester batch code 5b01 manufactured February 2025. I actually went there to purchase a different scent but was so taken with this I changed my mind. Scent as I perceive: On card just a sweet sugar but on skin the magic happens. A deep rich comforting smoky vanilla envelopes you. It’s mesmerising and addictive. It’s not complex at first yet draws you back in with subtle hints of different facets. The wood mixes with the smoke, the wood goes away and its smoke with vanilla. A caramel comes up with wood. It’s goes on. It’s not one of those cake or cookie vanillas either this is drier. It feels like the last day of summer at golden hour. A welcoming hug. Sillage and projection: I have worn this in cooler 15°c through to warm 25°c weather. In warmer weather it never becomes cloying be careful not to over spray however. In the cooler weather the sillage and projection is more moderate I did notice it noticeably lifted when I became hot. The scent starts strongly for about 3 hours, settles to a closer bubble for around another two hours and then remains a strong skin scent for around five hours. It will still be on your pillow in the morning. When? Autumn, winter and spring. On cooler summer days. Thoughts: it’s hard to argue this is a touch designer but I don’t mind that. Easy to wear and easy to love. It feels like quality. Smooth. Nothing rough. No it’s not like By the Fireplace Maison Margiela. Where? Office would be safe if air conditioned and the sprays are limited. Very versatile would be great for a night out or a date. You could just wear it daily if you wanted. Side notes Purchase again: yes Wife commented/noticed: yes Others commented: not yet Blind buy? If you like woody scents with vanilla and smoke yes.

I was blessed with a gracious and sumptuous decant of this amazing fragrance by a wonderful member here. I wore it this morning on top of a base layer of "Guerlain - Spiriteuse Double Vanille" and I've gotten two compliments just getting breakfast!! What I love most is that it’s not overly sweet or gourmand, instead, it’s more of a cold vanilla - airy and slightly smoky. I have "SDV" and "Ameer al Oud Intense" and I love them because there isn't a ton of sugar in their formulas. I can have my vanilla without feeling like i'm covered in syrup. I have other fragrances for when I want to feel like a walking talking sugar-cookie...lol. When wearing, this fragrance pushes very VERY well and isn't too heavy on the smoke either. Just enough to accentuate the Cedar and give it a smoother edge. Simple, effective and THIS STUFF LASTS!! OMG...even after it stops pushing, it remains a transferrable skin-scent!! If you touch the area where it was sprayed 12+ hours earlier...your fingers will have the scent of "Bois Talisman" on them!! This is wild!! Dior must use stunningly high quality components in this frag...wow! I've been looking for a strong but lighter vanilla to compliment my all time favorite "Guerlain - S.D.V." I believe I have found it. This fragrance is absolutely heavenly.... <3 10/10 NOTE: Beautiful fragrance...but it's 90% aromachemicals apparently. Still, they've composed this to a level of magnificence where you wouldn't initially suspect this wasn't created with some natural and rarely found components... So from what I see from the reviews, the hate comes from how identical the smell is to other lower cost bottles. This bottle does not deserve the hate. Before i bought this, i never owned any of those bottles that people are comparing it to. I did smell and sample by the fireplace but never committed to it. So it fit in perfectly in my rotation. Also the comment "this has been done before"... well yeah obviously? Everything has been done before. Every lane is done. It is near impossible to come out with something unique. The goal isn't to be unique anymore, it's to perfect the dry down and ingredients so that it smells better over time. And from what I understand that is indeed what designer houses like Dior are focusing on rather than releasing new and unique scents. This fragrance last and is smooth. The incense works amazing with the vanilla. Smoky and sweet intimacy. Of course it is a fragrance that requires the right setting. Not a daily. I have mainly used it for dates because its a scent you need to lean in and smell for a sec to understand it. Its not a sweet bomb. Its layering perfection. I think people just need to sample this on their skin and see how it performs vs other fragrances.

Absolutely beautiful. I am not typically a fan of vanilla, sweet, or smoky fragrances, but Bois Talisman is extremely special. I was in the Dior shop sniffing my typical types of fragrances (florals, musks, freshies) and the saleswoman had me try this, which I normally would never have taken a second look at. I could not stop smelling the sample on paper, which lasted for about 10 days. I'm pretty sure Dior has concealed the actual notes of Bois Talisman because it wears much more complex than the 2 notes listed on their website: cedar and vanilla. It's the coziest perfume I have and I can't get enough of it, even in the summer heat. It has me bewitched. I don't understand the negative reviews, but it seems the best and most complex perfumes garner the most divided opinions. The story behind this perfume is nostalgic. Created by Francis Kurkdjian to honor the legacy of Christian Dior, who used to tuck a lucky piece of wood in his garment linings and used pencils for his design sketches. Mr. Kurkdjian has long carried a sugar cube in his jacket lapel for luck. This perfume is a combination of their talismans as a tribute to hidden meanings.

This fragrance gets a lot of hate, but I think it’s an underrated gem. The concept of combining sugar with woods has been executed beautifully. While I wasn’t a big fan of some of Francis Kurkdjian’s recent creations like Sauvage Eau Forte, which I found disappointing, this one is a solid release. Yes, it shares some similarities with By the Fireplace since both are smoky, woody, and syrupy sweet, but this fragrance brings its own unique take on the concept. I especially love how the cedarwood is made smoky here, blending seamlessly with a sugary vanilla that, to me, is more pleasant than the vanilla in fragrances like YSL Babycat or TF Tobacco Vanille. When I first smelled it in-store, I wasn’t impressed. But the sales assistant insisted I spray it on my wrist—and I’m so glad she did. As it developed on my skin, the scent became addicting. Both the sugary aspect and the smokiness grew more pronounced, making it irresistible. Despite not being a big fan of gourmand scents, I found myself going back the very next day to pick up a bottle.

Respectable. You’ll catch yourself smelling it hours later, and honestly, that’s half the fun. Bottom line: if you like fragrances that feel like a warm corner of a room, but can also go anywhere, Bois Talisman deserves a spot in your rotation.

I honestly love Bois Talisman Dior and it’s one of those scents that you keep going back to because it just feels so good and comforting, but still really elegant. It does remind me a bit of By the Fireplace Maison Margiela, but this one is way more smoky and less sweet. By the Fireplace has that kind of marshmallow/chestnut sweetness, while Bois Talisman feels deeper, drier and more luxurious, like real burning wood instead of something gourmand. You mainly get smoky wood, a bit of incense, and warm resin notes, with just a hint of sweetness in the background. Nothing overpowering, just really well balanced. What I love the most is how long it lasts, I can still smell it on my skin the next day, which is rare. Overall, it just smells expensive, cozy and a bit addictive. Definitely one of my favourites right now.. It’s also such a classic, deep scent that works with any outfit. You can wear it dressed up or casual and it just fits, almost like a signature you can layer with your whole style.

A lot of groupthink going on in these reviews. Bois Talisman is actually a solid release. On my skin I get a caramelized vanilla sugar, with a cedar backbone. Nose to skin, the smoke note is a little intense but it eventually settles down to more of an incense style accord. The sillage is where the magic happens- Bois Talisman leaves an incredible smoky vanilla trail. It smells just like creme brulee being torched table-side at a Michelin Star restaurant. I also think the release timing was way off. With it being an incense style gourmand it probably would have been better suited (and well received) for a pre-fall launch. My Dior counter got their testers a little later in the game, when you're already ready for some lighter transitional spring fragrances. I'll definitely be adding a bottle to my collection later in the year when I am ready for smoky vanillas again.

It is not entirely clear why the perfume has such a low rating! The aroma is really beautiful - woody-amber, smoky, vanilla-sweet, but! Everything in moderation! I like the work of our Francis Kurkdjian, because all his notes are always balanced, that is truly French style! And if you know the history that this fragrance was invented by Christian Dior himself shortly before his death, then what are we even talking about! As for me, none of the above perfumes can be compared with Talisman, because I have half of them - the pedigree and sophistication of the house of Dior and the creations of my beloved Monsieur Kurkdjian cannot be repeated... I do not regret that I took a 100 ml bottle, just right for the nasty weather!

These low ratings are typical for new releases on Fragrantica. It's an example of the times we live in. Keyboard happy hate machines especially for all new F. Kurkdijian releases. It's very fucking weird. Bois Talisman smells so freaking delicious. Very edible dark melted sugar gourmand fragrance. A blast of warm vanilla and toasted sugar that becomes smokier and woodier over time. Special occasion fragrance perfect for fall, holidays or date nights, especially if your partner enjoys vanilla. This is not my vibe at all, but it's a treat to smell and a pretty interesting wear experience. Do you want to smell like a fresh baked sugar cookie that was slightly burned? No doubt excellent perfumery. -take care

Cedar-y love at first sniff! If you love cedar in all its deep dusty glory, you will love this. If you're a fan of the discontinued Gucci pour Homme (2003), you will adore this. I haven't tried By the Fireplace so I can't comment on the similarities. But this is basically a mostly cedar dominant delight of a fragrance, with an underlying "burned sugar" accord resulting in a carefully infused cedar-y sweetness that is never cloying or over the top. It also has Francis Kurkdjian's signature style construction all over it. And by that I mean: Linear complexity, slow evolution, rich and vivid notes presentation and impeccable proportional blending. Two big thumbs up.

I loved the initial spray, sweet, and delicious. It then started drying down to an intense smoky wood, almost oud like; making it a perfect unisex fragrance. The initial intense woodiness dries down gradually and you’re left with a woody, slightly sugary vanilla. I quite like it, a bit masculine leaning with a hint of sweetness. And yes it’s almost identical to Maison Margiela Replica By the Fireplace; however this Dior one feels even more premium and luxurious on the skin; I can’t explain it, but it’s really well balanced and feels niche. You can tell this is a high quality perfume, it feels quite luxurious on the skin, no cheap or synthetic alcohol-like notes.

It DOES NOT smell like replica by the fireplace. Replica is sweet and a bit smoky with chestnut smell. Talisman smells like a cream donut that went sour. It is really hard to find for sampling or in a boutique, so I don't know how all these "replica btf" people got their hands on both and concluded that these are similar. Pencil shavings or a tad puke-ish smell is what I get after 2 hrs. But I can get the burned sugar in the opening. Not sweet. It's as if someone put sugar cubes in front of an hairdryer and blows it towards you. Is not a "pleasant perfume" on the first sniff. But it grows on you, it needs its time. Really good longevity. Loving it.

As you've seen from several other reviewers here, this is essentially a more refined, higher quality “By the Fireplace.” In fact, I'd say that “By the Fireplace” is about 95% similar to this, for about a fraction of the price. To the simpler nose, or someone on a bit of a budget, you could probably get by with “By the Fireplace.” However, if you have the money and are looking for that ever so slightly elevated version that evokes the same warm, sweet, smoky and cozy feeling, the Bois Talisman is certainly worth the money. It possesses an additional airy quality that really makes it feel a bit more luxe than its cheaper alternative.

Love this one so much - probably my favourite in the boutique I work at! I do not mind the replica by the fireplace comparisons - definitely in the same family (see 'if you love this, you'll love that' kind of vibe). A woody gourmand that feels equal parts vanilla and sandalwood. By the Fireplace is more woody than vanilla. Some other comparisons I would make are obvious: Vanilla 28 (Kayali) and Vanilla Skin (Phlur), though they are more vanilla than woody. Grand Soir by MFK would be another one. I love showing this fragrance to people.

Smells as similar to by the fireplace as I look compared to Beyoncé. Pretty similar yet way different! Its not the same. Went to Sephora to refresh my memory. Nope... not the same. BtF is a smoked nutty vanilla scent. This is burning bakhoor with cedar, vanilla, and hints of that signature musky ambrox. If you want the actual charcoal on fire scent try Oud Khol. This is beautiful! I wish there were a dupe so I could save $478... ended up getting this and Tobacolor. Dior just upped the prices by $30, purchased mine beforehand thankfully!

I like it. It’s smoky woods and a sweet vanilla mingled with it that gives off toasted marshmallows... Not super strong on my skin but decent. It leans masculine on me so I will not purchase a full bottle but I will keep my 5ml decant because it’s really nice!! Edit: I was wrong!! I should have let it sit for a day or two!! Now that I’ve done a full wear, it is soooo beautiful! Bois Talisman reminds me of By The Fireplace by Maison Margiela but infinitely more refined and oh so beautiful! Gotta have a full bottle!!!

It is amazing, a smoky deep dense long lasting vanilla. Def a unisex one ı think. The vanilla and sugar notes make this look sşckeninlgy sweet but after trying it ı realized this one is the most perfect vanilla-smoke type of scent. By the fireplace and this one has similar vibes but by the fireplace is a bit more smokier and woodier. This one however does not have a strong woody smell just vanilla and smoke beautifully blended. For fall and winter, best for holiday season. 10/10 banger.

I’m really bummed that Dior downsized their bottles from 250ml to 200ml and on- but did not adjust their pricing. It honestly makes me not want to collect any more from the house. Yes, I’m being sour because the 250mls (even 125mls) just look so grand, theres plenty to decant/share with friends, and it made you feel like you were actually getting a deal over other houses with enough in tow to last a lifetime. Glad I could collect a few while I still hand the chance.

This fragrance is very good, if not great. I'm glad the rating has gone up once people have actually tried it. The Dior and FK hate is so forced at this point, but I digress. I really don't think By the Fireplace has the same level of quality as Bois Talisman, not even close. The people saying they smell exactly the same have untrained noses. Bois Talisman is crafted masterfully so the price tag is justifiable. The most refined smoky vanilla I ever smelled.

Ignore the bad reviews! This is gorgeous!! Sweet yet slightly masculine western oud opening. woody vanilla caramelized toffee nuance mids. deep syrupy vanilla and ceder Dr down. Really delicious- the closet fragrance is Babylon but they’re different. Nothing like a cheapie Lataffa which are synthetic, unsophisticated beast mode messes. I love the the new 50ml size!

Sugary, smoky vanilla with solid cedar and frankincense base. IMO this is not like Replica , yes it is smoky vanilla and the vanilla is very dominant note , but the differences are night and day. Im sucker for nice frankincense and the one here is absolutely beautiful. Very long lasting with moderate projection (as expected from French perfumery). 10/10

The reviews based just off the notes are insane. I actually smelled this fragrance and to my nose it’s very smoky but also sugary sweet. It smells just like a burnt marshmallow you would roast outside on a stick. I don’t know if I want to smell like this but it’s smells really good! I would love this as a candle!

Very very good. Is not pungent. Which I rarely find in perfume. My guess is they tried to make a cousin of Althair by PDM. A stronger deep woodier version. Strong projection but tastefully done. Considering testing further before I commit to it but !!! Nice surprise. Completely unisex. Lasts all day.

The moment I tried, it reminded me of By The Fireplace, then I read the reviews, confirming I was not the only one. Nonetheless I’d say it is a more subtle and elegant BTF. By the way, I loved it! Sugary and smoky are stronger notes, in the back it is possible to feel the cedar and vanilla.

Well...I love this! I love the sexy, smoky introduction and I love how the layers peel back to reveal vanilla and wood. I am so fussy with regard to vanilla but this juice is sublime. Perfect for winter. Manages to be cosy and comforting, yet confident. A winner for me!

For those seeking a beautiful, cosy, smokey sweet scent and are not getting it from the By The Fireplaces and Fan Your Flames of the world, which I’ve had and have respectively, this is what you’re looking for. Just a fantastically constructed scent that delivers.

Love at first sniff. I have similar already. This is perhaps more of the same however it’s really lovely and fb worthy. Smoky. Incense. Pencil shavings. Spicy. Intimate and sexy. Lovely. Lovely. Lovely. Unisex for sure. Perfect for cooler months.

How come no one is talking about how similar is it to sdj cheirosa 71? This is like the high end version of it. That said , i love this perfume, for me it smells like a warm vanilla cookie fresh out the oven Cant wait for winter to wear it

I love it. But honestly can’t tell if I’m a bit anosmic because sometimes I get by the fireplace vibes with less of the smoky aspect of btf, and other times it’s a gentle sweet vanilla. Either way, love its sophistication and versatility.

I can't understand all the hate for this one. Bois Talisman is a warm, sophisticated woody/gourmand that suits most occasions. Along with Ambre Nuit, Tobacolor and Vanilla Diorama, this is my favorite from the line

It smells somewhat similar to fireplace but this is the more elevated and luxurious version without any screechiness. It’s gorgeous, it’s sexy, it’s sensual. My go to, night out, head turning scent.

Well, I'm sad about this one. I spent a lot of money on this perfume. It was truly a splurge, and it lasts about 30 minutes on my skin. I even tried over-spraying....nope....gone really quick.

out of all the private line this one was something absolutely different, i swear this is Elden Ring in a bottle too. Francis Kurkdjian creation's with Dior is absolutely insanely good.

A sweet, smoky scent. It’s my absolute favourite profile. It has a scent reminiscent of burning wood, combined with a sweet, sensual aroma. 10/10

Almost, just almost the perfect burned wood smell I crave for, but it doesn't come close to the real deal, it misses that warm soft spicy feel..

I adore this fragrance. The dry cedar wood with the amber vanilla is just divine. I wore it and could still smell for 6hours.

This perfume will probably be discontinued because nobody hyped it up and that's sad cuz it is freaking GOOD!

Golden spark of sweetness, like a falling star, is quickly veiled by incense smoke. A mauve-grey vapor rises, like a curtain of early autumn fog. One sees through it, and yet cannot know with certainty whether what is seen is truly there. The woods emerge from this fragrant haze. Their forms are sharp, ascending, clean in their freshness, with a spiciness that is almost stern. One does not need sight to perceive them: their scent fills the air and pierces the smoke like arrows, bright and pointed. Someone has begun to harvest the trees. The cedar’s aroma is raw and loud, as though the tree were giving up its heart and soul in its last hour. The fallen trunk itself may remain unseen, but the accords of its final song are everywhere. And one cannot help but stop and think: have these woods been condemned entirely, or only a few among them whose lives could not be spared? We do not often think of the fate of woodlands when we sit in their cool shade in summer. In winter we look away from them, because they appear so bare and wasted without their foliage. Unless winter covers them in such rich snow that we laugh and say the trees have put on fur coats. But here, in this smoke, we know nothing clearly of their condition. We only know that the woods are there. Somewhere ahead. And then a breath of sweetness slips through. At times it appears like golden dust, faintly shining in the air. It turns the smoky fog into a veil, light, but still perceptible to the senses. It gathers slowly. With each fresh breath it advances. Soon one can almost touch it. It brushes the skin like a young fox or a hurrying squirrel. And with this touch, melancholy steps back. Heavy thoughts withdraw. For such is life: it ebbs and flows along a path we imagine ourselves to be directing. How foolish that is. Yes, today we may choose which trees fall and which continue on their way. And yet the woods stood for ages before we walked upon this earth, and they will stand for ages after us too. After our cities crumble to dust. After our traces are erased. All things change under the sun. And the woods are like enchanted guardians. Whether we see them through the haze of our arrogance or not, it matters little to them. Their presence is the only thing that remains.

I bought this fragrance when I was on vacation with my friends in Italy. We were looking at all of the Dior private line options and I eventually chose this, passing up on Vanilla Diorama, Tobacolor, Spice Blend, and others that I thought to be nearly as good as this one. While the price is pretty jacked for a fragrance with this type of DNA, I still find that it is very unique and pleasant. But as I smell it more and more, the smoky notes become dominant, which is a put-off for me. I'd also expect some better projection and longevity for a fragrance of this price. 7/10 for me. Update: Sadly, I now kinda feel that this is redundant as Maison Margiela's By the Fireplace is almost the exact same thing for a fraction of the price. There are some differences still; I find this to be a more woody smokiness while BTF smells more like that "chestnuts roasting on an open fire" type vibe.
