Cuir Saddle

Like sipping bubbly while lounging on the most comfortable down-filled nubuck sofa. For nearly everything in my collection, I live with a sample for a week (or month), then made a decision. Though when I saw this in my local boutique, I sprayed it on my wrist, and within an hour I had purchased a bottle. A very neutral, pure leather/suede/nubuck scent. There are no distinctive floral or woody notes that jump out at you, but you can tell they were used to sand down any rough edges and give it that distinctive Dior smoothness and blend. If you want an approximation, take a crepe brush to some decent nubuck or suede to lift the nap and uncover the deeper layers of the hide, and you're in the right ballpark. For those asking, it's almost nothing like the previous Cuir Cannage...Cannage is like walking through a vintage train car with old leather seats imbued with floral perfumes of the early 1900s, while Saddle is like walking into a Dior boutique and opening a brand new bag with a suede interior. The scent not revolutionary...it's FK/Dior's version of Cuir d'Ange or Tuscan Leather, but it complements the rest of the lineup nicely. I occasionally wear a single scent, but most often prefer to wear two different ones on my two wrists to get whiffs of each singularly or blended throughout the day. This pairs equally well with feminine/floral scents (e.g. Rose Star) or masculine/woody scents (e.g. LV's Nuit de Feu). For me, sillage was moderate, and longevity was good.

I am not the best perfume reviewer, and most of the time I prefer to keep my opinions to myself or share them with a few fraghead friends. That said, there really should be more restrictions on who gets to post reviews here. Opinions based on a single spray while walking past a store, especially from teenagers and people with no real experience, are pointless and add nothing of value. This kind of behavior is what is turning the space into something toxic and, frankly, stupid. As for Francis Kurkdjian, I am not a big fan of the guy, but credit where it is due. He has created more than 20 popular, well known, and widely appreciated perfumes, and that is not a small achievement. I do not own many of his creations, but the ones I have are genuinely nice. Now, back to the perfume . The scent is exactly how it is described. It truly feels like a fancy leather bag filled with soft florals, powdery makeup , and smooth textures, all blended together in a very refined and elegant way. The opening and the mid notes are genuinely beautiful and immediately set the tone of the fragrance, unfolding naturally without feeling forced or chaotic. The dry down is something I still need more time with, as I only received the bottle yesterday, so I prefer to try again before giving a final judgment on longevity and projection.

I’m really losing my thrust in other people review. Seems like the overall social media vibe opinion has been infecting fragrantica. About the perfume: Really well blended sophisticated leather/suede fragrance! The opening is like a party of flowers, leathers and a great soapy musk accord. Like walking in a 6star hotel lobby with leather suede sofas. After the opening the suede leathers kicks in and gives you an animalic punch 🥊, still it stays within the classy Dior style. Especially the drydown is showing the blending skills of mfk. Even though the notes are a bit rough (amber woods leather musk), the scent stays pleasant and sophisticated:) Longevity is very good for a perfume that is launched 2025:p 8hrs The silage could be a tiny bit better but tbh I don’t know if I would want a strong fragrance with these kind of leathers....

Dior Cuir Saddle (2026) - skin leather - As someone who observed fragrance reviews over decades, it is easy to dismiss new fragrances benchmarking immediately over historical classics. Ironically, a decade after, people praise it as a modern classic. This fragrance by #franciskurkdijan could be one of them. As a leather fragrance collector, this is definitely a modern version of the accord and would smell more suede and softer lining of leather with a hint of red berries. What intrigues me would be the beautiful balance between this Amber molecule akin to Le Labo’’s Another 13 and Kurdijan’s white musk mastery. Leather has also been an issue on versatility, but this one works in any weather condition and setting. Elegant yet persistent. I have a feeling this will set the trend over vanilla.

I gave Cuir Saddle another chance this time on clean skin, outside the store and it completely stopped me in my tracks. It needs about 30 minutes to settle and reveal what it's really doing. At first spray, nose-to-skin, it comes across as an awkward composition that doesn't quite make sense. But don't judge it there. The magic is in the sillage. In the air, it transforms into a beautiful floral musk with depth from the leather. There's also a soft powderiness that gives it an elegant, almost vintage refinement without feeling dated. This is one of those fragrances that rewards patience. What you smell in the air is far more beautiful than what you smell with your nose pressed to your wrist.

I smelled this exclusively in Paris and I would like to say this is a very good FK take on leather! The people hating in the comments below did you even SMELL it loooooooooool! Y'all pathetic liars. I rate this a solid 8 out of 10 it is missing some cedarwood maybe sandalwood and amber to back it up for warmth and it would've been perfect. The creaminess of sandalwood with the suede would've been INSANE!!! Is it the best release yet of FK in the private collection of Dior? Absolutely not. Monsieur Demachy is still the king of that line and has produced the BEST juices ever for DIOR privé.

There is a trend to hate Francis Kurkdjian, yes lot of his latest creation were « disappointing » for many, still we should evaluate each perfume for what it smell and not who made it. The description is really fitting what i smell, a light leather-suede, warm but not dense, on my skin it evolve to a floral-leather and slightly sweet scent. Longevity is incredible i can still smell it 10+ hours after, sillage seems good. It feels elegant, easy to wear, unisex. It’s a pleasure to wear it daily in the winter, will see how it goes on warmer days.

This is one of the classiest scents I have ever smelled. Extremely elegant and truly unisex. Safe for the office, yet refined enough for special occasions. Versatile, timeless, and effortlessly sophisticated. It works in almost any setting and could easily serve as a signature scent. It is also extremely linear—the scent you get in the opening remains largely unchanged throughout the wear.

Tested this today for the first time. There is something smoky and creamy (maybe amber) about it which I really like. On my skin it smells very similar to Knowing by EL, but a more modern take on it. Longevity is good, a bit disappointed about the projection, it might need a few more sprays. Smells sophisticated, elegant and feminine, I was pleasantly surprised, overall beautiful scent.

The leather note is beautiful, wrapped in a cloud of freshness, softness, and delicate florals. At first spray, the leather is quite strong, giving a more traditionally masculine impression, but over time it softens, enveloped in gentleness, and the scent becomes more delicate, suitable for women as well. The fragrance is very stylish.

A unique leather perfume that has a beautiful soft musk and floral opening. I think it has hints of patchouli, which enhance the earthy dry down. 🍃🪵 It has excellent longevity and definitely perfect for winter nights. I would not recommend it as a safe blind buy.

Passed by Dior today and sampled the fragrance. I kinda liked it, reminded me of Oud Isphan the most recent release.

Lovely scent but doesn’t last or project on my skin too well

To me it seems that mister kurkdjian was inspired by vintage Monsieur by Givenchy. I have a bottle on my shelve and I can confirm the dry down is very similar, same vibes. The opening of Cuir Saddle is modern and streamlined, pleasant but not too particular, however after 30 to 60 minutes a 70s style musk patchouli appears, deep and to my nose quite classically masculine, not that this couldn’t be worn by other genders. Now, hours later, it’s still prominent, I smell it without holding my wrist near, so I’d say both silage and longevity is very decent. It’s good, do test it, but I personally don’t need it, as I have a bottle of vintage Monsieur de givenchy.

With all due respect, some people's opinions are just so misleading. Cuoium?! Nudiflorum?! Believe it or not, I just happen to have tried Cuoium and Cuir Saddle the SAME DAY, and I can testify, they have ZERO similarities. Wa'lou, la shi, rien du tout, niente, nada, nichts. Cuir Saddle is a dry, animalic leather. Idk why, but I also get a hint of burnt plastic(you read that right,) and no sweetness or whatsoever. It is a creative, but also challenging scent. It doesn't smell similar to, but it's in the same genre as Gucci Guilty Absolute and Dark Knight(minus the florals). Me likey! Don't blind-buy; you've been warned!

I actually liked this way more than I thought I would. Dior’s latest releases have been rather disappointing as highlighted by many reviewers, and whilst Cuir Saddle isn’t particularly phenomenal, it surely is a nice and creative addition. It’s a very soft and gentle suede leather, added by a slightly sweet musky undertone that rounds up the scent quite nicely. It doesn’t seem to project that much and sits close to the skin, but I truly like it. Definitely worth trying out, but I don’t anticipate many will enjoy it when compared to the previous masterpieces created within Dior’s Privee collection.

Let the review bombing begin. I am curious to see Kurkdjians take on a light floral leather. Diors privee line is pretty light on leather fragrances so it's a nice direction to take for a new release. I feel like the leather genre could be one that could somewhat benefit from FKs hypermodern molecular approach. Let's see what he brings - Bois Talisman was a nice release albeit too expensive for the profile imo.

First impression. Starts a bit fem settles very nicely into a soft floral suede, slight sweet & soapy. It is actually very good. Full wears needed to Really understand it.

I like for a leather perfume because I hate leather my only problem is the price it’s just crazy.

This is how I imagine the story of this perfume. 5 years ago, Christian Dior Parfum marketing team ordered a market study from a very expensive consulting firm about the perfume trends, and the answer was leather-oud-rose. Hearing this, Christian Dior Parfums decided to go wild, be a bit cray-cray, go hippie and contemporary and also appeal to their clients who still spend on perfume on their Collection Prive, ie not the gays anymore because they all have their Tobacolor at home, but their Arabic clientele. But they had to be careful to not become an Arab perfumer either. After many corporate meetings , the teams decided to go creative in the most corporate route of all. They pushed forward a brief that was creative, but not too creative, strong but not too strong, contemporary but not too contemporary, the nordered an other market research, and expensive testing and customer feedback gathering, and after that they used a mean and a middle of everything of the data, built some spreadsheets, said no to every nice and creative and subtil composition that their Nez FK proposed, and mixed number 5, 24 and 89 of the favourites blend proposed, and diluted it by 80%, down to something that is so commercial and common that it doesn’t create any emotion. Then they briefed their Beauty and Fragrance teams in their internal Education Portals, to say to the consumers that this was a groundbreaking fragrance, that for the first time ever put together a Masculine note, the leather, with a Feminine note, the Rose, and push this narrative on the poor gullible client. This is the result. I don’t have anything specific to say about this fragrance, it’s not bad in itself. It just has not given me any emotion because it is such a common scent. My Arab girl friends smell like that. It’s an Arab girl base layer for a perfume if you know what I mean. It’s not bad, it’s just bare minimum. You won’t smell bad if you wear this, you will not stand out or blend it. Again this is not a bad perfume, but in this day and age, with incredible niche perfumers, lovely corner shops and passionate fragrance lover who open their independent fragrance stores, why would anyone who is interested in perfume get this particular bottle? It is beyond my understanding. It’s not a fail, it’s just not an anything at all. Not a classic, not a parti-pris, not groundbreaking. Go sniff it at your local Collection Prive counter, but please dont buy it. If you need to scratch a rose leather oud itch, get yourself some FK Oud Satin Mood dupe and layer it with some Tom Ford Ombre leather dupe, and go on your merry way.

Disappointing as a leather perfume but quite nice as a smooth and cozy musky floral. The “cuir” aspect is evident only in the top notes where it comes very close to Cuir d’Ange indeed. Some smokiness and soft animalics in between yet too muted and fleeting to be considered as leathery - especially if you cherish the memory of Leather Oud and Cuir Cannage. Soon enough, the “leathery” phase settles down and a flash of quasi gardenia leads the way into more musky territory where some shy floral and subtle gourmand notes prevail towards soft, musky drydown. Although this is not my thing, I must admit it’s quite smooth (and fuzzy at the same time, if that makes any sense?) and smells very feminine to my nose. As many Mr. Kurkdjian’s creations, it doesn’t develop much, smells modern and minimalistic. Can’t deny the masteful blend here, decent projection and very good longevity, though. Yet, considering latest Dior exclusive issues, apparently, this is where it’s heading - and where everything else is heading too; 50 % acrylic, 35% polyester, 15% viscose. For more natural composition, there’s always vintage.

Since I love Dior so much I wanted to buy a full bottle of this new Release. Thankfully I did not. Just bought a travel size. I have to say I would never buy full bottle of this. This is heavy on leather and animalic Notes. too masculine and IMO not like a second skin at all (as Kurkudian claims). I normally Love heavy scents but THIS is not alluring at all.

It smells like a pair of cheap leather shoes

It's different, and not in a good way. Some aldehede lift mixed up with a tucked away suede, an annoying generic sweetness, and a vanilla in the background. An abstract, slightly animalic velour that although unique, is somehow also painfully plain. Below average wearing experience, I grew tired and washed it off and applied something else. It feels unfinished. Bring back Leather Oud and Cuir Cannage, and get rid of this half baked release. More of the same. There's a few minutes of an interesting soapy, barnyard leather, then it's screechy amberwood, javanol and vanilla with some bland leather accord swimming around in there somewhere. Not that dissimilar to Bois Talisman in the wearing experience. Trying it again today I'm getting a screaming, synthetic tuberose note overpowering everything.

Smells like no thought went into this at all and it's extremely over-priced. Sharp, makes me sneeze, smells like amber that's been fermented, and I don't think in a nice way.

It smells cheap and unpleasant. Edit: I'm revising my review after wearing it for two whole days. The opening is awful, except for the leather notes, which fade almost immediately. What's left is a very chemical, floral and smoky base, reminiscent of very low-quality perfumes. Today my wife opened all the windows asking what rubbish I'd sprayed on. I've bought all the perfumes made by FK for Dior, and so far the results are truly merciless: Dioriviera: A low-quality, chemical disaster. It's incredible they discontinued Balade Sauvage to make room for this. New Look: People ask me if I'm wearing Vix Vaporub Bois Talisman: A By the Fireplace clone Rose Star: Terrible opening and then simply a rose note with a super chemical base. When I read the name Cuir Saddle, I hoped for a reinterpretation of Cuir Cannage, which I own and love. Instead, this horror was created, and it's also sold at a price far too high. I can't understand how lovers of this collection can appreciate a perfume like this. I own almost all the fragrances from Le Collection Privee, except the women's ones, and I'm shocked by the decline in quality and creativity this line is experiencing with the arrival of FK.

I almost feel bad reviewing this because I don’t love leather notes. This just confirmed that!! It’s extremely leather forward and not much else. Maybe some smoke or incense on the dry down - a little ash tray to go with the leather? Ugh. This just isn’t my lane.

Sorry but this is destroyed by 'amberwood', another one of those irritating woody ambers. Started with such promise. The mark of the nastier musks is that they take over from everything and at the end it's all that's left. This is not how a saddle smells.

The leather is wuite beautiful but it is destroyed by AMBERWOOD. It isn’t as good as Cuir d’Ange.

I got a sample of this one and it smells like shit

Tried it at the Dior boutique in Mirdif City Centre! Kind of love it but confused. Not me. Im opiniated. The scent seems to be tryimg to do too much. Kills the simplicity. Simplicity can often be the most complex! Feels like a leather chypre! Atleast wears like it. Definitely second skin. Id overspray the hecknout of it. Quite minerally on test strip. Heavy handed on Amberwoods reminds me of matiere premiere fragrances. Goes vintage kind of. Hard time focusing as too much going on. Pulls in all directions. Definitely the two better releases from Francis Kurkdijan including the Bois D'Argent esprit de parfum ( definitely bottle worthy. Overpriced nevertheless). Mostly leather, musky, slight funk! Dior aesthetics, soapy, the vintage like soapy vibes with leather. The amberwoods clash with the soapy chypre like characteristics. I like it so far but as a lover of leathee chypres it comes of shy as it acts like a second skin! Everything smooths out onnskin but if youre in the initial phases it can be overwhelming. Seems like theres something earthy patchouli like. Definitely does not remind me of Cuir Cannage or Leather Oud. Wishnit was a little more robust and youd want your leathers to shout. This ones quiet luxury. It is a very sexy wearing experience though.

There were some good perfumes in the Collections La Privée category, and this group of Dior perfumes was considered a good competitor for the niche brands on the market . but unfortunately, two annoying things can be seen in these perfumes over time: one is the sudden cessation of production of some samples, such as Cuir Cannage, and more importantly, the lack of creativity in new perfumes. Of course, a positive point that should not be ignored in the Collections La Privée group is the high quality of the raw materials used in the structure of the perfumes of this group, which distinguishes the perfumes of this group of Dior perfumes from perfumes outside this category, the Dior brand itself, and many other perfume brands. However, I hope that Collections La Privée will return to the position that enthusiasts expect and we will see creative perfume designs from this brand. However, I am impatiently waiting to test this perfume because the recent productions were mostly redesigns and inspired by the old perfumes of the same brand.

Je reviens faire un avis dessus parce que je viens de l’acheter, mais il faut savoir que je l’ai eu à un bon prix, je l’ai racheté à une personne qui ne l’aimait pas et je l’ai acheté à 150 € donc franchement j’aime beaucoup et très addictifs, moi non plus je suis pas fan du tout des dernières créations de Francis Kurkdjian à part rose star qui est pas mal aussi j’habite à Paris donc on est en plein hiver et je dois dire qu’il est très bon avec le froid, je ne sais pas comment il va se comporter avec la chaleur en été, il peut donner un peu la même impression que le santal noir mais bien sûr avec la note de cuir, que j’avais avant, je l’ai vendu parce que j’adorais la note de tête, mais le séchage j’ai fini par m’en lasser c’est vrai que c’est pas révolutionnaire et que ça coûte très cher, mais si vous pouvez l’avoir à un bon prix n’hésitez pas moi j’adore, il me plaît beaucoup donc n’écoutez pas les critiques il faut le tester sur vous et vous jugerez vous-même pour ceux qui ne le connaissent pas

This smells EXACTLY like fresh henna !!! Im shocked .. u know when you mix organic henna powder with water and make a paste to apply on skin for art drawing or hair for tinting !! I refrain from using henna because of its smell and thats all what u need to know to understand how unappealing this scent is ! After 30 minutes of dry down , i sniff harder trying to recognize other notes , There is a clean leather nuance trying to peak but overmasked by henna anyway ! Its too expensive to try hard to seek potentials .. a perfume this price should be a beautiful experience from first spray , another flop tbh .. For people who are not familiar with henna might describe it as floral and herbaceous notes over polished leather , for me .. i cannot unsmell henna P.S 1: type of leather nuance here is similar to byredo's cuir obscur P.S 2:In case you loved this scent , try l'artisian parfumeur - Bois des sables .. its very similar minus the henna whiff

A beautiful soft fresh feminine leather. At initial spray the leather is quite pungant and smokey but not offensive. Reminiscent of more abrasive oud. To my nose, i loved the opening but to alot of people would say its almost fecal but not in a bad way. One of the reviews below mentioned henna and i would agree. It creates a very interesting experience. As that slowly and gentley fades it goes into a white floral / generic floral leather-ish note. Almost kind of like a flower bouquet in a newly purchased car with leather seats that have that pungent new / leather car scent. It dries down into a nice musky floral. Over all a very very beauticul pleasant experience that danced around me as I had it on my arm throughout the day. Not offensively sweet at all. Not very commerical. Not a typical leather scent either. Go in with an open mind.

Leather Cannage Dior. Let's start with the name. You would expect, or at least I did, a luxurious, it is Collection Privee, an elegant, it is Dior, leather forward perfume. I expected something between Cuir Cannage Dior, which is one the best fragrances I, ve tryed, and Cuir d'Ange by Hermes, very elegant, soft and refined French style fragrance. Now, what you get is a luxurious fragrance indeed. It, s rich, and even a bit heavy. Elegant? Maybe, but not in the classic French style elegance. It, s more of a Dubai style elegance. And has nothing to do with neither Cuir Cannage nor Cuir d'Ange. Mostly because those are leather fragrances. This one is more amber type leather. It is more floral oriental leather fragrance. So it is nice, but not what I would like, and not very original either.

I smell rose, a light suede, and smoke. The rose is too sweet for a man. Unfortunately on my skin it seems to project the most out of the other two. I was appalled to see they don't sell this as 125ml anymore. The 100ml looked ridiculous next to the price tag and there is no way I am blowing $500 for a bottle I would never finish. or risk being stolen out of a suitcase. As far as the performance for now I would say it sticks close to the skin but I am not paying it too much attention because I have no plans on buying this.. Tobacolor and Leather Oud.....it is NOT.

Best perfume I have smelled in a while, this is exceptional!! Well done Francis ! White , pink , clean musky suede !!! Airy and powdery ( the flowers in here are violets and iris which go so perfect with the suede note ) , creamy but strong at the same time. It’s sweet but subtle sweet. I am getting a second bottle this will be my go to !! Just received this today and already got 2 compliments.... Comparable to TF ‘s white suede but this is better. A little more special , stronger , more sweet and more refind, just above and beyond !! Signature worthy !

Nothing to do with Nudiflorum &/or Agarwood from Dunhill. Nothing. I own both. This, as i perceive it, is a weird suede-y... animalic-y...sandalwood-y... candle-y? Thing. It sincerely, partially, reminds me of the original Book by Commodity, which i also own. I am truly torn. I don’t know if i really like it as a wearable fragrance or something i would prefer more as a light ambient scent in a diffuser. One thing i do know, I’ve out grown this sort of scent profile. And in any event, i can just spritz on Book. Your mileage may vary.

Not caring much for the latest releases in the line, I find this one to be ok and something I would wear. It is not particularly innovative, but it manages to integrate elegantly in a kind of chypre style the otherwise dreadful musk and amberwood synthetics. The problem with perfumery these days is that perfumers are called to make magic out of the cheapest and most synthetics ingredients, for profit. I think Bisch is doing one of the best jobs right now but that is not the case for Kurkdjian lately.

In the latter half of the 2000s, Francis first came onto our radar with Gaultier 2 and then Lumière Noire Pour Homme, giving us hope for the future. But whatever happened, imagination must have run dry, because we never saw that sparkle again. And then there was that nasty fixation on overhyped Baccarat Rouge...'Amberwood,' which completely dominated his later releases. Francis simply can’t let go! That’s why, frankly, there’s no excitement for what he’s creating today.

Actually a beautiful scent, unisex. I wouldn't mind having a travel size for running errands. I don't see this as a going out scent. More so a gala ball, possibly even dinner. Its not very over powering. Its a very smokey leather scent. Take Oud Khol and add some soft leather with a hint of floral say osmanthus. I think the amberwood is giving it that burning scent. It can be rather harsh. So maybe unisex-masc..

Smells a lot like LV's Nouveau Monde, but with more leather note and less oud. This smells of red leather seats of a brand new car for some reason. I don't think this is a unique profile, but a corner piece scent profile for a collector looking to have range in his collection. Close your eyes and pick one, you won't go wrong. But you won't stand out either.

J’habite à Paris, j’ai senti ça aujourd’hui à la boutique Dior. Franchement c’est la première fois que j’aime bien un parfum à Francis Kurkdjian depuis qu’il est arrivé chez Dior pour pour moi ça me donne l’impression d’un cuir Maracuja c’est comme si que vous retiriez le oud et vous mettez le cuir à la place. 9/10

Dior has this terrible history of cancelling leather fragrances which I love: Leather Oud and Cuir Cannage are part of my collection and why they were discontinued is mystifying, especially considering some of the fragrances which persist. That having been said, I am looking forward to this new fragrance from Dior.
