Dior Addict Eau Fraiche 2004

Bought a 100mL bottle that had maybe 40mL left on eBay for $35. The juice is no longer clear and is now a rich amber color, and the plastic coating that made the glass look that pretty pale lilac color is now peeling and flaking off, sadly. What this is is original Dior Addict EDP but someone doused themselves with half a bottle of Roja Scandal Pour Femme in the first 20 minutes. If Dior Addict is a sexy clubbing trust fund kid that is dressed to the nines in a very skimpy black dress, Eau Fraiche is her more grown up and dignified mother who was kind of a total freak back in the day. If you've ever thought "I really wish original formula Dior Addict had less of the blackberry, 50x more of an assault of orange blossom and indolic white florals, but otherwise smelled just like Addict", this is the perfect fragrance for you. That is sadly not me, but I do like it anyway, because I love Addict and the dry down is just Addict. At least unlike the other completely unrelated flankers Dior Addict has spawned, this one actually smells closely to the original with an interesting spin.

I delayed trying this fragrance out as I thought it would be another "copy" like Dior Addict Shine was to Dior Addict II. Walking past it today, I thought I would give it a sniff. WOW! what a fresh and enticing fragrance! It's extremely citrusy at first spray, and settles down into a creamy citrus floral that is reminicent of the original Dior Addict (it has similar vanilla & sandalwood notes) but not a copy. Very nice! Not sure if I want to buy it, but it was great to try! PS: Being a very sweet fresh fragrance it's bordering on sickly sweet - be careful how much you spray. UPDATE: April '09 - I finally bought Eau Fraiche. I've had my eye on it, and kept the spray card from when I originally wrote this review - the spray card STILL has the scent on it, months later! I really love this scent now. It's so fresh, luring & feminine at the same time. :) It lasts all day on me, and has a great sillage. I smell whiffs of Dior Addict Eau Fraiche throughout the day which acts like aromatherapy, making me happy. It's just gorgeous. Highly recommended!

I was lucky to find a 100ml bottle on Ebay a couple years ago for a steal. I have looked after it carefully and have used about a quarter of it so far! I actually felt quite sad yesterday....every time I caught a whiff of myself I kept remembering that one day this will be completely gone. It is a perfect example of how a lighter version of a EDP should be done! So true to the original yet has a character all of its own. Perfect for warmer days. It has many of my favourite notes eg - feesia, jasmine, rose, gardenia, orange blossom, mandarin, tonka and sandlewood. The vanilla, although not a favourite note of mine, is just a touch, which stays throughout. Keeping loyal to the unmistakable original Addict. I love the way the tonka blends in, creating a very unique aroma. Maybe its the woods used? Beautifully fresh, yet still sensual, sexy, and certainly just as addictive as the original! Get this masterpiece if you can, WHILE you can!! It keeps well, which is a relief :)

Got a full sealed bottle of this for a decent price last summer. I had only smelled the original before that. I was craving the OG formulated Addict but wasn't willing to shell out the $$ I see it going for online. This is a fresher take on the OG, as the name insists. There's a creamy brightness at the opening from the citrus and vanilla. I detect the tuberose that has been added, which is probably why I like it even better than the original. I've become an absolute fiend for everything tuberose. I get the same warm sandalwood, vanilla and tonka hug that the OG radiates. A colleague of mine stated that I smelled like root beer while I was wearing this. I am trying my hardest to preserve this bottle at its age, but there's no telling how exactly it was stored before I purchased it. Still smells wonderful to me, and I'm sure it was even better when it was brand new.

One of my most beloved fragrances and the one I chose to wear on my wedding day, simply because it reminds me of the best years of my life. It's fresh and citrusy yet balmy, comforting yet not cloying, ethereal yet energetic. Yes, the dry down is not as amazing as the top, but still it will always have a place in my heart and my collection, at least until I finish the last bottle I have left (and I have used maybe 8-10 bottles over the years) Edit: wore it today after nearly 2 years. It's the first time my nose actually understands that yes, in its heart this is the lighter sister of Addict! I've been wearing this since 2005 and this is the first time I truly saw the resemblance:)The following Eau Fraiche versions were all inferior to my nose, and totally irrelevant to this beauty

I found a gently used 3.4 oz of the 2004 version of Addict Eau Fraiche for under $50. My next purchase was going to Eau delice but since I have found several of those but only 3 of the 2004 Fraiche version, I went with this one. I am so happy I did! It’s definitely a Dior Addict Flanker! I can smell the original Addict DNA here, the night blooming cereus and the mandarin leaf but this is lighter and somehow still has depth and soulfulness. I was worried I would be put off by the lily and freesia but I’m not at all. It opens up with the aromatic and bergamot and stays balsamic and resinous for a while. The dry down is a light floral with hints of addicts spiced vanilla. It’s really interesting and I can’t believe they reformulated this into oblivion!

Like so many of you, I fell in love with this fragrance in 2004 and was so sad that it was discontinued so soon. I tried the new versions and none of them were even close to it. Since then I have been searching for something even similar but have not had much luck...until I came upon Girls Can Do Anything by Zadig & Voltaire. It really captures a lot of what I loved and missed about this scent- the delicate mix of vanilla/tonka and citrus floral. If you loved this scent, you may also want to try Girls Can Do Anything. I have an old bottle of Eau Fraiche (2004) and they have beautiful similarities.

I love this version of Addict. I just sold my big, old bottle of Dior Addict because it's just too much for me. It overpowers me with it's strength even in a small dose. Some of us find it hard to breathe around some perfumes, even when we like them and I wish it wasn't so. Eau Fraiche, however, remains rich, based as it is on powerhouse Addict, but it is certainly lighter and fresher and for me that's a good thing. It lasts and lasts and can travel. But then I love the smell of fresh flowers and citrus fruit anyway. I think it's still a heady mix. One to wear when it just seems right to go rich.

Two weeks ago it was Mother's Day in Argentina. I wanted to get a perfume for my mum (always finding a good excuse :) to go to a perfume store), and of course it took a loooong time to decide, as I tried several. When I asked for this one, the shop assistant told me I was not gonna get it in Argentina any longer. Now I could only get some "left overs", or the other versions. I tried "Addict 2" and it's completely different!!! :( It seems that will be another perfume to buy over the internet, like "Lauren" (by Ralph Lauren, only available in the States).

Addict eau Fraiche (2004) is a creamy, soft, sweet, vanillic cloud of orange blossom and musk. I can’t quite pinpoint which other florals are present, but they’re heady without ever becoming cloying—unlike the Addict EDP. A luminous touch of bergamot sets it apart; it’s not citrusy in a zesty or tangy way, but rather bright and radiant. It’s such a shame it was discontinued, but I highly recommend it to anyone who loves Addict EDP and craves a softer, resinous, balsamic twist. You’ll adore this beautiful summer floriental. Backup-bottle approved!

An Addict flanker, that actually smells like Addict!! It's fresher, lighter and softer yet still manages to be sexy and smell very much like the original. Citrus blast on initial spray, then it's all tonka, vanilla, jasmine and soft sandalwood for hours. It lasts all day, has great sillage and is very wearable. ** I've got a tester bottle with all the notes listed on the back, Queen of the night (Night-blooming Cereus) is on there, even though it's not listed here. **

Not usually a tuberose fan but I've decided I love this as it is absolutely divine. It makes perfect sense to me that it appears to be the only Dior Addict flanker that was actually made by the original nose of Addict, Thierry Wasser. It is the only one on that level of quality. I am so glad I bit the bullet and got a cheap partially used bottle when I found it, definitely get this if you find a good price for it, especially if you're a fan of original Addict.

If I had to use one word to describe this fragrance it would be "dream". It truly is a magical, intoxicating scent. It is sexy in the most ethereal way. Following the fleeting freshness, a cloud of musk, tonka, tuberose and orange blossom envelopes you and transports you to a fairytale. Fresh and warm. Innocent yet seductive. Graceful and lavish. Simply exquisite. It's hard to believe it's discontinued.

impossible to find, I wonder the people who I saw as wearing it now are finding it?? pm me? I think it more and more smells like addict edp (especially the new one), as I grow I started to like the edp addict too, I always thought the edp was for 30+ years old ladies but oh well, can't find the eau fraiche I guess I'll settle for edp

An amazing scent!!! Light and deeply sexy at the same time. Best for morning or summer nights that you want something to make you feel different and alluring but not kill everybody around you due to heavy smell. Such a pity it is discontinued. Any ideas of a similar perfume?

I have just discovered Jacomo Silences Purple. £20 for 100ml from ebay germany. A great substitute for Addict Eau Fraiche. If you are really missing Eau Fraiche and are sad like me that you will never find it again - Get Silences Purple!:D

In simple terms this is an eau de toilette of the original dior addict eau de parfum. Great for me as i wouldnt wear the original during the day so this one is perfect. Havnt smelt the reformulation of this so cant compare

Calling it my favourite perfume of all times would maybe sound excessive. But the fact that it is discounted and replaced by not at all comparable 2012etc versions, is definitely a criminal.
