Dior Homme Cologne

I was a big fan of Dior Homme Cologne 2007. I prefer it to both the 2005 and 2011 EDTs, and rank it on a pair with Dior Homme Intense. Four years ago, I tried to replace an empty bottle (no! I didn't have a backup) but the fragrance had been discontinued and was nowhere to be purchased. I end up buying the citrusy version from 2013 but I don't like it and do not use it. But in September of 2018... I bought and use Aguas Masculinas - N°3 Seducción Magnética by Victorio & Lucchino almost since one year ago and like it very much. A couple of Parfumo pals, Elysium and Darkbeat, have it and praise it a lot as well. Someone close to me bought it recently and became an addict of it. Today I spent quite sometime discussing this fragrance with three Parfumo coleagues. All of us had similar thoughts about the Victorio & Lucchino EDC. I claimed from the start that Aguas Masculinas - N°3 was very similar to the unfortunately discontinued Dior gem, the Homme Cologne from 2007 (no! no! no!... forget the lemony version from 2013). Are they really similar? Can this unexpensive gem make me forget the almost market vanished Dior Homme Cologne from 2007? Opening and Heart - both open with very nice citrus, some cardamom and very heavy lipsticky iris. Bottom and drydown - both develop reasonably heavy vetiver and patchouli notes with cocoa and resinous accords. Top, heart and bottom, have very similar blending with similar notes. Seducción Magnética does not seem to be behind Dior's 2007 EDC in what concerns quality and performance as well. Let's look at some objective rating. We are in presence of EDCs, so naturaly the performance is not so high as in similar EDTs . Both are fresh and highly versatile perfumes. Value for money is quite low for the Dior fragrance and quite high for the Victorio & Lucchino EDC. The final choice only depends on your purse, and if you are lucky enough to find a sample of Dior's 2007 fragrance on sale anywhere. The Dior bottle is very nice and does make a difference. Recommended? I recommend both fragrances but pose that question to your wallet first as the Dior fragrance costs at least 10X more. Blind buy worthy? Yes for the Victorio & Lucchino EDC as it costs €10.0. Final conclusion: You love Dior EDC 2007 but are not able to purchase it due to sheer unavailability... This review by Dior Homme Cologne deals with the original version, released in 2007 (as pictured above), since Dior has just launched a 2013 version with the same name, but with a totally different fragrance, in which even the color of the liquid has changed. This Cologne version is the exact variation – with less concentration of essence – of the EDT version. This means that the smell remains wonderful, with its output of lavender, mandarin, neroli, and cardamom leaves, embraced by the dry and powdery tone of the iris, and fortified, at the base, by notes of cocoa, leather, vetiver, and amber. However, the famous make-up smell, resulting from the mixture of iris and cocoa in the heart of the EDT, is minimized here (in this, the cocoa is at the base) and the fragrance seems to hit the skin already evolved, skipping steps and staying only with the more velvety and creamy aspect from the Eau de Toilette fragrance, after a few hours of application. On my skin, it has a timid projection, but the lasting is very good. Dior Homme Cologne (2007) is an excellent solution for those who love the style of the Dior Homme line, but cannot stand the smell of makeup for a long time. In addition, this version can be worn with greater versatility, as it is not as intense. On the other hand, for those who enjoy the greater intensity, I recommend knowing the Dior Homme Intense version.

Managed to get the older batch and I can say it smells amazing, compared to the newest batch the notes and dry down have a somewhat some similarities but older batch has a unique scent about it and very fresh and light but not cloying or as such. I am only disappointed with the projection on this which is a shame because it is such a nice fragrance. Rating 7/10

Very lovely scent, i was gifted a 2007 bottle [first year] before I really knew how precious that stuff was, definitely related to Dior Homme and DHI, I actually find this more versatile than it's bigger brothers, same iris blast yet with citrus what a great scent. bottle has maybe 25% left that I will have to cherish for the rest of time!

love this older version ,nothing like the newer version .which for me is lemon wash up liquid .who decides this ,crazy ,if you get chance and see one for sale grab it before its gone .

Update Jan 19,15 I don like this fragrance because it's not as intense as the classic which. I understand that most prefer to buy the original version. During the summer months, I'm able to layer this fragrance without it being too heavy and too sweet. To me both DH edt and cologne is very good in their own right !! Yes the cologne isn't as strong but what's wrong with that!!!!! I decided to buy the cologne because I found that the longviety wasn't that much less then the EDT on my skin. First off, the cologne version is perfect during the summer months because if you want to wear a frag that is light enough and yet you could still smell it after 4-5hrs....the cologne does that in my opinion. The opening notes of lavender, cardamom and neroli all work really well the iris which is what both edt and cologne have. The base notes of Amber with Cocoa and patchouli gives it that signature mark of Dior's men's fragrance. Overall view, I have already had several woman come up and compliment me. To be honest I'm surprised that this cologne lasts as long as it does. DH cologne is an aromatic frag with a very luxurious sweet/floral/powedery scent...very good!!! Longevity is very good...Silage is moderate. An excellent choice as a trans from winter to spring into the long summer day's. Rating this frag is....8/10 ..If the longevity and silage was about 1hrs more it would elevate this frag to a BRILLIANT fragrance. ★★★★ :-)

I had tested the regular DH (a bit "thick" for me) and DH Sport (a bit too much ginger for my taste) so I bought the 125ml "Cologne" version "on spec" sight unsmelt. I thought the (alleged) citrus would temper the heaviness of the regular DH but I cannot make out the citrus at all. Perhaps it is just its development on my skin. Having said that, it's light and subtle but not banal. It is dictinctive and can be worn here in the tropics. Glad I bought it.

I agree with Carlitos, it's very similar to the 2005 Dior Homme but with more white florals and less Iris. Much more preferable I'd say. Unfortunately it's discontinued and I sparingly use my bottle now. I regret not buying a backup bottle of it 3-4 years back as I had picked up something else and you was out of budget for this one. Always on a lookout to buy a bottle if I'm lucky enough to come across it.

Fresher and luminous version of the original EDT. I like its smoky sweet and fresh opening. It has a huge trail. But there is a worst thing about it - it has no longevity at all. Great fragrance, great price, expensive components against weak and poor lasting expirience. I've been expecting more from Dior and at this price, also. 5/10 for its qualitative weakness.

I bought this for a very good price myself and it blew me away, it lasts more than the DHS 2008 and is quite a beautiful fragrance. I consider myself lucky for getting my hands on this.

Very similar to Dior Homme Intense, both of them have good scent but with average Longevity but again the smell is too common, nothing special. Overall: 6/10

Projection/longevity is subpar. I get 100% mandarin orange out of this stuff but it actually smells quite nice.

For the comment below: The lipstick accord/ smell is just a smell of: make-up, crayons, synthetic/plastic, cheap stale lip stick. I get this smell from the other Dior as well (Dior Dior Homme, or maybe the Intense version). The first time I tested the two bottles I thought that the bottles must have been really old because it just smelled so stale. Nope they were not stale, that's just how they smell. All terrible fragrances in my opinion:(On my skin) Dior Dior Homme Dior Dior Homme Intense Dior Doir Homme Sport Dior Homme Cologne Farenheit is the only good one from this house that I have smelled.

Great scent, if you want to smell like stale lipstick. How did this ever hit the market? And crazy how some people like it, I must be from another planet.

There is no overstatement about the lipstik smell. This is really, really in fact, the first detectable thing. And this is the Cologne version. I just can imagine how the original and the intense version smell like. By no means "bad", but it recalls that. No doubt. And I find it interesting, allthough probably I would look for something else. I can say some other things: I don't get any citrus, at least not enough to make any difference (maybe because it is all on Dior H Sport); the lipstik smell is no more predominant after 15, 25 minutes; and just after about 30 minutes I get something that remembers me Armani Attitude Extreme, when it becomes a bit common to my nose. Despise its citric begining (a bit too much for some, not for me anymore), DHSport shines more (not just a "sporty" scent). P.S.: I have a tendency to keep smelling my wrist when I spray some scents. Dior Homme Sport has proved that, and now the same for Dior Homme Cologne and Guerlain L'Instant pour Homme. Interesting. Update (03.04.2011): Two notes. I tried Dior Homme Intense and I was guessing wrong. Intense is much more sweet of course, but that lipstik smell is so well mixed with other notes that you get it clearly only in the first moments. In Cologne it lasts a bit more. And actually is not bad. But maybe you wouldn't like to smell it. As for the citrus, I finally got it on Cologne. Since I put Intense, a more heavy one, on one wrist, and Cologne on another, I could feel the citrus in the last. Very very mild.

Dior Homme Cologne, launched in 2007 is in my opinion, a watered down version of the original. The fragrance opens up with a slightly citrus aroma guaranteed by bergamot supported by the characteristic lipstick/makeup smell produced by Iris, but in this one, with much less power than the original. Over time, the smell develops basically to iris followed by a slight aroma of leather. My conclusion: if you want a classic, stick with the original. This one was made for those who wanted to insist on traditional Dior Homme, but was afraid to get a too feminine look. Oh by the way, the longevity is poor.

Dior Homme, with its blandness buffed out. A little lighter, a bit more fruit on top, and an standard drydown of Biolandes iris, powdery cacao, and white musk. The kicker: I disliked the heavy and somber aspects of the original, so this lighter, more cheerful variation is very welcome. There's some pleasant cardamom and herbal textures in the heart and far drydown that prevent this from being a total snore. Worth trying if you wanted to like Dior Homme.

Fantastic...wear this as your work scent,Dh homme as your day off scent,and Dh homme intense as your night out scent...job done!!!! It is a beautiful scent!! I really lay it on thick like a body spray and it doesn't cloy,people love it,compliments galore with this one!!!
