Dior Homme Sport 2012

I have to first start by saying that I will do my best to stay neutral when reviewing this fragrance because in my personal opinion it is one of Diors best including their higher end line and that is saying quite a lot. Dior Homme Sport unfortunately had to bear the name "Sport" but in actuality this is far from a sports fragrance. This is too good to wear doing strenuous activity. Maybe adding the word "Sport" was a DIOR inside joke. Like saying "DIOR DOESN'T PLAY". But no...I know they just wanted to capitalize off the "SPORT" craze at the time of the release. DHS is elegant while playful, interesting while having wide appeal, and is a fresh scent that can be worn in any season. What blows my mind about this is the way DIOR took HOMME and made it more versatile and youthful. While you could wear DH in warmer weather it lacked freshness which the ginger and citron add to DHS in spades. This is the real answer to BLEU DE in my opinion. I can't see Sauvage over this. While I like the smells of EAU and COLOGNE i can't understand why Dior would create an Homme flanker that competes with DHS. They are very redundant if you own DHS and DHS is arguably the superior fragrance of the trio. It's also the most interesting of the three to my nose as well. DHS's only downside is it's performance. It lasts 5 hours on my skin which I hate. If it lasted 8 hours I would love it more than DHI which is my favorite of the Homme line because it's a more versatile fragrance. One may question wearing it during the winter but its a great indoor scent to wear and in the cold most of us are indoors a lot anyway. And well hey, any serious frag head owns empty atomizers and the smell of this is worth the chore of decanting and reapplying it. If they did an intense version of this I'd probably do flips tho... There is a place for light scents too and DHS fills all those occasions for me. It really works when you want to wear multiple scents in one day. While its highly loved and known within the fragrance community its very overlooked by the broader public. I get more compliments wearing DHS than any other from the HOMME line. Women for some reason aren't as fond of DH and DHI on us as much as so many of us are but DHS receives a lot of love from the opposite sex in my experience when it's noticed. Simply Put: A versatile top shelf smell which will go fast in a smaller collection. As a very big fan of the original 2008 dior home sport I was very curious about this one the 2012 version reform version. I will not do a comparison test I will review this 2012 version as its own. okay at first spray I really do get the citron/lemon ginger combo very natural smelling no alcohol smell at all but I find it very weak though then the iris slowly kicks in with the lemon/ginger/iris trio combo I find this very nice and unique a classy smell indeed I do get the green notes at the base maybe a bit of cypress but not really noticeable the iris has totally mellowed down almost gone at the base I can still detect the citron ginger combo with the green notes till the end of the scent. I still get that vibe from the original but very weak. I love the overall scent if only its been made a little bit thicker I find this reform version watered down and that's an honest opinion I sprayed 2 heavy ones lasted about 7 hours max but mostly skin scent very weak after 2hours on my skin. overall for the scent alone not bad its still quality juice but weak I will still label it as an classy sport fragrance. longevity 5-7 hours 6/10 still not bad for a sport fragrance the original last longer. sillage projection moderate 7/10 does not project much but still noticeable when in contact I guess you have to spray more 5-6 sprays of this one wont be a problem IMO it wont offend anyone either. uniqueness 7/10 I don't find this one as unique as it has still the dna of the original dior home sport and ive smelled it before so nothing new for me In regards to its scent. overall smell 9/10 from top to buttom very good smell indeed from top to buttom but I really enjoy the middle much more that lemon/ginger/iris trio combo is to die for overall high remarks for its scent. price vs quality 8/10 still quality juice natural smelling nothing synthetic 80 dollars retail I think is a bit pricey 70- 75 usd would be reasonable price for this one. versatility summer nights I don't think this will endure the hot humidity as it will fade quickly definitely not the cold weather as the scent is weak overall not bad give it a boost on longevity and projection and make it a bit stronger this will definitely be perfect.

I got this over Allure Homme Sport after having samples of both of them. Citrus-heavy frags usually don't work very well on my skin if the citrus isn't coupled with something warmer/softer to keep it alive. I train MMA and use this to freshen up after sessions when i get out of the shower and still want to feel classy on my way home(it's too cool at the moment for regular day use) Fragrance: DHS starts with a very natural smelling Lemon and Ginger, matures and sweetens a little when the Iris comes into play after about 20 minutes, and is backed up and kept together by the Cedar in the base. I get a little Vetiver-feeling mixed with Cedar from the base, maybe that's the green notes mentioned. The Lemon has very good staying power throughout the wearing but at some point it fades together with the Iris(after about 6 hours) and leaves me with a Ginger/Cedar accord that's still very classy and refreshing but a little warmer. Projection: Handshake-range for me. Reminds you that it's there but won't choke out anybody. After about 5-6 hours it goes down a bit closer to the skin and stays there. Longevity: This is where it gets crazy. Usually sports/fresh fragrances, especially the ones heavy on the citrus, fade away really fast for me. DHS give me a consistent 8-10 hours!!! Never had a citrus/fresh fragrance last(and also project) like that. I guess it hits jackpot with my skin-chemistry Conclusion: A very classy sports/fresh fragrance with the potential to be worn in more formal settings in the summer and great longevity compared to most other freshies

There has been much written about this fragrance and its older brothers. Not having smelt the original version of Dior Homme Sport, I cannot make comments about the differences between his current version and the pre-reformulation version. And while I understand that there may be differences in the two that may well have made the original more appreciated, I am giving my opinion about this version with no comparison to the original. What I can say is this: there is a freshness that surrounds the iris note - this may well be the key into the world of Dior Homme. Those who like me have some hesitations about the powdery floral aspects Dior Homme and Dior Homme Intense may find this a more subtle introduction to the family. In fact, now that I have smelt and worn this more than a few time, and therefore being more used to the iris note, I am thinking I may add one or both the others to my collection. Longevity on me varies - from 5 to 7 hours although past 3.5 hours it is very much a skin scent. I honestly believe this to be a versatile creation from the house of Dior. Past the first 15mins citrusy/gingery opening, this can work for a variety of occasions from casual to black tie - though probably pushing it at a black tie event. As for weather, it really depends on your country. Too many on here make judgements based on their own weather patterns and this may be unhelpful. For me in Melbourne, Australia where snow is something one needs to seek, I'd say that you could wear this during any season as your mood dictates. It's a definite buy!

This review is based on my own experience with Dior Homme Sport 2012. I haven't tried the 2008 version, so I cannot say which one is better. Skin chemistry, weather, temperature etc. plays a part on how a cologne projects or smells. So everybody will not be the same, this might smell great on other people, but not so much on you. Dior Homme Sport 2012 starts off with a blast of lemon, ginger and iris. The iris is not too strong compared to Dior Homme and Dior Homme Intense. Some people doesn't like that "strong" iris smell from DH and DHI, because it smells like "lipstick". The iris on DHS is perfect, because it brings sweetness and balances the strong lemon and ginger smell. The first 30-45 mins is all about the lemon, ginger and iris, after 45 mins the lemon and ginger starts to mellow, but the iris scent remains. The iris starts to become powdery and the cedar also comes out, I'm guessing it's because the lemon and ginger have mellowed down. So, after 1 hour you'll have a very mellowed lemon and ginger, a powdery and sweet iris with the cedar in the background. I have to take account that I live in Manila, Philippines. It is a tropical country where the weather is always hot and humid. It's also sad to say the pollution in Manila is one of the worst in the world. The longevity was about 6 hours. This is a great summer cologne in my opinion. My overall rating is 8.5/10 Btw, I have got a couple of compliment from my wife. That's better than nothing, because I have colognes that hasn't got a single compliment.

Hello Fragfam! Dior Homme Sport 2012 is my scent of day, so I'll share my thoughts about it. The opening of this fragrance is fresh, uplifting, very lemony and juicy. After 10 min, you can detect the ginger, very well balanced with the lemon note. To my nose, the iris is not powdery at all and, comparing with rest of the Dior Homme line, is well subdued. You know the iris is there, but is not the dominant note. The scent goes very linear, although very well blended, with that juicy lemon, ginger and a bit of iris in the back, until it starts to settle down as a skin scent, where some woody notes can be detected. The performance of Dior Homme Sport 2012 is moderate. It lasts between 6h-7h and it projects within a arm's length between 1h30-2h, with decent sillage. Overall, I love this fragrance! Is it a Sport scent? No. In my view, this aroma is a perfect balanced between casual and formal and because of that it's very versatile. You can wear it the Spring, Summer and Fall (It doesn't have the complexity and performance to be used in the Winter). It's a great office scent and for casual scenarios. Can be used, as well, in the warmer nights, but, to me, it's too bright and refreshing for that. I prefer this scent over the 2017 version. Although the last version is, indeed, a true Sport fragrance: much more fresh and citrucy, quite linear and flat, in my opinion. Dior could keep the 2012 version, rebranding it, but that's just me. Great juice! You'll be missed.

I will define it in two words: OLFACTORY ORGASM. If you want I can resume it now in one: PERFECTION. All other definitions, comments, considerations are useless and time consuming, but if in spite of that you still want to continue reading instead of running to grab as many 2012 flankers as you can before this gem gets out of stock, then up to you... Absolutely gorgeous! fantastic! Possibly the classiest / highest quality Sport / Summer (AND all season & versatile) fragrance out there. It's SHARP and direct like any other. Quite the opposite to many others that show a mess in their compositions, too complicated mixings or too many and unnecesary ingredients. There's nothing wrong in this one. Its formulation is simply perfect. How is possible that Dior Homme is such a "wrong" men's fragrance (it smells like women's lipstick / make up!) but this Dior Homme Sport is so amazing, so gorgeous, so classy, so elegant, so refined, so fantastic? And this one IS masculine yet CLEAN, unlike the others. Dior Homme Sport does NOT share the same DNA of the "Homme" line at all. Incredible but true. The only resemblance could be the slight iris note to it, nothing else. Very good projection and longevity on my skin. No problems at all with its performance. This one is TOP quality. Perfect in every way. Exudes pure class! Fresh, clean, manly, yet classy, elegant and very versatile with, again, top elegance. A true MASTERPIECE. 12/10. Fantastic. Cum Laude.

Dior Homme Sport 2012 This is one of sport fragrance on the market. Its smell much more sophisticated than most "Summer" flanker by other house. I love Dior!!! Dior house is indisputable in my heart. DHS is another excellent flanker in Dior Homme line. I never smelled the previous formulation so I can't do any comparison but I would rate DHS really HIGH among my favorite. It open with very natural, warm, lively lemon and slightly spicy but smooth ginger note.... the lemon is very fresh and lead me to a very bright and refreshing mood. Slowly, the DNA of Dior Homme line ~ iris note ~ is starten to support the main notes, which attributed to its crispness and smoothness. The drydown is very much like other Dior Homme flanker. Its sweet citrusy is slightly tone down and become more woody. Although DHS is labeled as SPORT fragrance but it perform really well on my skin. I am greatly surprised with its 6-8 hours longevity and good projection. However, I found its opening is quite loud for some people so I'm still recommended you all might take sample of DHS before purchase it. Scent: 8.5 (Lemon + ginger combo = very fresh, natural feel ) Projection: 8 ( It's really project well and others do will notice you.) Longevity: 9 (6-8 hours for sport fragrance is just too great. ) Sillage : 8.5 (Yes, it do left good scent trail. ) Versatility: 9 (I dont think it as sport frag as it is a very classy, sophisicated and elegant fragrance. )

Beautyful citrus. A very natural, well made citron smell. I get lot of citron, like if i have one right before me, a little ginger and cedar wood. I don t get much iris like in the other DH fragrance. It is an interessing scent for summer or office, very refreshing i found, but performance aren t that great on me. I find it very soft, more of a close to skin scent with an average longevity. This is sad, because it is a very lovely scent, but u need to reapply often if you want it to hold for a long time. I would say that this scent has the weakest performance of all dior homme line, which make me choose dior homme eau as a summer scent over this one. Very similar to the 2008 édition IMO, but i prefere this version over the other, the performance seem to be better. All right, let s see what we have: Scent: 8,5/10, a lovely citrus scent that is perfect for summer. Longevity: 3/5, 4 hours on me. Projection: 2,5/5, between arm lengh and close to skin scent in the first hour, then a close to skin scent. Versatility: 3,5/5, daily use, summer time, office. Mayble some summer night or some special event, more classy than the average sport flanker. Overall: 17,5/25, would have been an awesome fragrance and possibly the best sport flanker if performance were better.

So, so good. I’m surprised though to see some people that love the 2008 version saying they find the 2012 disappointing. I’m wondering if those people only smelled the opening in a store, because when comparing my 2012 to my 2008 I’d say that only the first 10 minutes are really different with the iris. That opening does smell much better to me in the 2008 with an amazing citrus note. But, after those 10 minutes the ginger comes out in both, and the iris gets pushed away in the 2012 and can’t be smelled by me anymore. That ginger is still very much the same as in the 2008 (maybe slightly less tart), but it lasts longer. Both perform below average on me though, I really wish the ginger would last longer in both. DHS 2008 & 2012 are among my absolute favourite fragrances but that amazing ginger note just doesn’t last much more than 4 hours on my skin with the 2012 and is already weak after two hours with the 2008. Between the two, I would pick the 2012 over the 2008 for its performance, despite the amazing opening of the 2008. For reference: I have an 2014 batch with formula code 06589/A and a 2016 batch with formula code 09786/A currently opened and they smell the same. Maybe the latter even lasts a tiny bit longer but don’t hold me to it.

Ordered it yesterday, just came in today. Was hesitating if I would take this one or Acqua di Gio since they were both fairly priced at the moment (Acqua di Gio about 8 euros cheaper). I knew that Acqua di Gio is a women magnet, but I decided to spend the extra bucks, since I wanted to buy something more original. My most distinctive and favorite perfumes however aren't very suitable for warm summer weather. This one fits perfectly in my collection (yes I know I've got JPG and PR 1M as well but thats not the point right now :p). Today was a hot day, 32 degrees Celsius and this one proves it's definitely a summer fragrance. Although it initially starts with a fresh blast of lemon, it distincts itself ones it's settled more. It's like it was a perfect collaboration between the perfume and the warm air, since it was surrounding me like a warm, comfy cloud. I'm really happy I chose this one instead of the more commonly used Acqua di Gio. This one is definitely more sophisticated and I would recommend it to anyone. But beware, this one is at its best when it's really warm but its performance may disappoint you when it's not that hot. Other than that, in my eyes, this is the ideal summer fragrance I've been looking for quite some time

I was on the market looking for a fresh sporty perfume that's sexy and will please my people. I knew beforehand that there were three versions of Dior Homme Sport. The first was released in 2008 (Never smelt it), the second one was released in 2012 (The one I bought and love), and finally, the last reformulation we know of (released prior to the reformulation of the main Dior Homme in 2020), which is 2017's version (Smelt it and it's close to the one released in 2012). Honestly, I Iove the version I got, feel like I want to drink it out of the bottle! The opening is citrusy and fresh as expected from a sports edition of a fragrance, but then the added iris hits me. I am a huge fan of that note in the original so when I felt iris here I was extremely overfilled with joy. Then, it carries off with a green apple smell to the end all the while you still have iris with you! Smell:10/10 Projection: 7.6/10 ( It projects very well for the first 3 hours and then it calms down) Longevity: 8/10 ( I could still smell it on me after 10 hours ''As a skin-scent'') Sillage: 7/10 (It leaves an excellent trail for the first two hours, but then it's more relaxed on you) To me, Dior Homme Sport 2012 is extraordinary!

Dior Homme Sport is light, clean, elegant, powdery, citrusy, refreshing, and classy. Despite its name, this fragrance to me doesn't carry too much of a sporty vibe. It's definitely got that clean, pleasant, citrusy, casual aspect but it's also got this elegant side that almost makes me feel like dressing up would be better suited for this scent. A lighter, cleaner take on the original, it's still got that signature iris note but here it's more of a supporting note that adds a powdery quality to the freshness of the citrus + ginger opening. The citrus is zesty, realistic and slightly bitter. It is so juicy and has a lot of depth and complexity despite the very few notes listed. IMO this is a masterpiece of a 'sport' flanker, it's got just enough original DNA but is interesting enough on its own to be considered unique. It's not overly sporty like some other brands' flankers which I appreciate. This is some seriously high quality juice for the spring and summer time. Some think Dior Homme (the original) and Dior Homme Intense are too "lipsticky" with that strong iris note. Dior Homme Sport 2012, however, strikes a perfect balance between the iris and the freshness of the other notes. It opens up a bit more traditionally cologne-y with that citrus. The Iris is much less strong than in DH or DHI, but it's still noticeable enough to be quite recognizable from the original Dior Homme DNA. Then as it dries down the citrus fades and leaves this cozy, slightly sweet, slightly woody, slightly spicy, soft iris scent, kept fresh by a bit of peppery ginger. It's not a total Iris Bomb like DH or DHI, or like other iris fragrances like Prada L'Homme. Just perfectly balanced. A perfect middle ground between the original Dior Homme and a more traditional and wearable fresh(-ish) citrusy cologne. It's still soft and cozy like the original Dior Homme, but much less "lipsticky" since the iris is very toned down, and this is therefore much more accessible and less divisive. Funnily enough, this "sport" flanker almost feels like the most formal fragrance in the line. If you can get your hands on a bottle, I highly recommend it.

Okay so I picked this up at winners because it was on sale for a very good price and Dior never goes on sale. The other reason was because of the Iris. This is my favorite part of DHI (I wish it lasted longer). I also own the old formulation of DHS which I also love, so thinking this would be the same but with the iris I had to buy. I was a little disappointed that the iris in this wasn't more prominent like in DH or DHI, actually I don't think I detect it at all. The opening 45min to 1hr are EXACTLY like DHS2008 it then turns creamier (people claim this is the iris?) but the original formula also dries down to this given 3 to 5 hours. I do find the newer version to be less sharp the the original. I can't say I like one over the other. It's like I would wear the original during the day then put on the 2012 version before I went out at night. Whatever version you find I would recommend this. Excellent fragrance 8.5/10, would have been a near 10 if the iris was more in your face.

Citrus ginger and powder, just perfect. Not suitable for sport though despite the name. Fresh yet classy at the same time, and the juice is high quality. You could wear this fragrance for almost every occasion. I feel so relax when I wear this, I imagine it's raining outside and I felt like being wrapped with this comforting powdery scent. Somehow the drydown reminds me of Armani code a bit, that powdery notes. It didn't project that much, just for the first 1 - 1.5 hours, after that sit close to the skin. But when you move and walk around, you could still get a whiff of the scent. Longevity is very good, I get more than 8 hours easily. Dior should've kept this version, and rename the 2017 version into something else. This 2012 version is just a pure class. I have this perfume and Sauvage, and sauvage smell cheap compare to this. Can anyone help. I've got a 2012 bottle of this and just waiting advice as I'm not sure if it's tainted. When I smell the atomizer I get a lovely iris with flashes of homme eau but when I spray it on all I get is ginger which lasts a few minutes then I get the citrus but throughout the rest of opening and dry down I get really strong ginger coming and going. I'm getting different notes in-between but every I've watched and read about this the ginger has never been described this way. Is this normal for this version. It doesn't smell awful and is actually nice, just disappointed there's no iris coming through Thanks Since got another bottle and the first was definitely tainted. This and 2008 version are best in sport line, I'd rank from best to worse. 2012, 2008, 2017, cool spray and 2021 last, I'm not very keen on latest version and in my opinion the worse in the whole homme line

This. This fragrance is amazing. I just returned from Sephora with a 50ml bottle, and I'm completely entranced by this fragrance. The opening is unlike anything I've ever smelled, it's so intoxicating with a burst of powdery, citrusy freshness. The dry down is warm and very smooth; I can't see this offending anyone, but rather intoxicating everyone. I want to smell like this always. Other reviewers are absolutely correct; this is too rich and classy to be considered a "sport" fragrance. The name is just the name, I'd sooner wear this to work or to the club than to a racquetball match. Maybe it's because it's brand new to me that I love this fragrance so much, but I will come back here and revise this review if any of its magic is lost on me over time. If you're unsure about trying this fragrance, do yourself and those around you the favor of trying it out. 10/10

Re-visiting this gem as i smelled the new 2017 version and that was a disappointment. All i can say is a WOW!!!. I have not worn this for awhile now and is truly is a great scent. It's one of those sport frag with class. The citrus and iris really does stand out and blends well creating a unique smell in a sport frag category, not your typical citrus woodsy base as most summer frags are. The only drawback is it's performance it does "suck" lol, but the good thing is it's not offensive; you can spray six heavy without any problems and it wont offend anyone. Unfortunately being discontinued got me two bottles as backups. Final verdict if you want a classy sport, fresh, scent get this while you can. Frag description: Citrus, fresh irisy, greeny with slight woods.

I HATE that I LOVE this scent. I went through a ton of samples and could not get over the lousy performance. But... now it's discontinued and soon-to-be scarce... so here I am buying a full bottle of it while it's still on the cheap side. I just couldn't live without giving this scent at least 1 full season in my rotation, which will likely be Summer 2018. Yeah, it means I'll have to carry around a decant, but I don't mind that. I just like the scent so much that I feel the need to attach some memories to it. That's well worth $30 to me, even with the minor annoyance of carrying a decant next Summer. At the very least... low risk, right? I haven't smelled the 2017 yet, although I suspect that I will become interested in that one for next summer as well.
