Some wearers find it fades sooner than expected, but others report it lingers nicely throughout the day with just a few spritzes. If Le Labo Thé Matcha 26 and Hermès Un Jardin en Méditerranée had a baby, she would be Dioriviera. The fig note isn't as realistic as that of Philosykos. It is an imaginary note similar to the way fig is presented in Thé Matcha 26 and Un Jardin en Méditerranée. In the first hour, it feels like wearing Thé Matcha 26 with a pinch of salt and the freshness of Un Jardin en Méditerranée. The floral facet of Dioriviera is subdued and not particularly rosy, providing a fresh backdrop in the base notes. That is to say, the scent profile is not as linear as a two-note cologne as you may infer from the official description. She is a freshie, but sophisticated. As a die-hard fig lover, this is how I rank them: Philosykos > Dioriviera > Thé Matcha 26 > Un Jardin en Méditerranée. In my opinion, Philosykos remains the best-smelling fig fragrance. Even after many years since its creation, it's still the benchmark for all fig fragrances. Its only downside is the weak performance. The other three fragrances last well on my skin. I'd rank Un Jardin en Méditerranée higher if its bottle design were prettier. Overall, I adore all four of them. If you own Philosykos, choose any of the remaining three to add some variation to your collection. Given the similarities between these three, Dioriviera is the best option in terms of monetary value per unit and bottle design. The cherry on top is that Dior engraves my name on the bottle. So nice! (Now I realize how overpriced my Thé Matcha 26 is!) As Francis Kurkdjian's first signature fragrance for the House of Dior, this scent is a safe move. It evokes pleasant memories of French sunshine with its tried-and-true notes combination. However, it's not the most original or creative work from him. 9/10.

I feel compelled to add a review, since this one doesn't seem to have yet got the recognition on here it deserves (in my opinion). There's a lot to be said about Diorivieria and kudos to FK for being bold in his first fragrance after becoming house perfumer for Dior. The reason he's been bold is he's counting on the sniffer to be in it for the duration. This is a perfume that sacrifices its opening for one of the best, most incredible mid and dry-down stages I've smelled from a perfume. 30 to 40 minutes in, Dioriviera begins revealing its beauty - like a person you're getting to know - and gets better and better. I heard someone say recently (can't recall where) that perfumers are more interested in the stages after the opening. I've never thought of it like that. I have thought about the opening being the big show, and then the latter stages are where you think about the show afterwards and reflect on how much it's stayed with you. I tend to weigh too much of the experience on the opening, which for Dioriviera is a slightly pungent rose, fig, aromatic burst. I admit, I recoiled a little the first time I smelled it. But how creamy, elegant and multifaceted it becomes. Crushed figs and their leaves, May rose, warm breeze, body lotion and the butteriness of a fabulous, oaked Chardonnay wine. It's a complete experience and utterly spellbinding. The sillage is figgy, fruity and fresh - hard not to like. I can see people are struggling for smellalikes with this one (since those cited are quite far from the perfume in question) which makes me think FK has done something new, AGAIN. He has created an olfactive picture or experience that suspends time and transports you quite viscerally to the Riviera.

I must have bought my sample because I saw the fig + green notes, two notes I love in perfume. I then must have promptly forgotten what this was supposed to smell like, because when I finally sampled it today, a month or two after I got it, I guessed that it was supposed to be a fresh yellow floral with some LotV. Imagine my surprise when I came here and saw the alleged notes. Don't get me wrong, I think this is a lovely fragrance. It reminds me of an older female relative who has passed, so it was an immediate hit of nostalgia for me. It opens a bit sunscreen-y to my nose, but that dissipates soon after and leaves what smells like LotV, rose, and narcissus with maybe a touch of marigold. I think this is one of the nicest rose notes I've smelled in a perfume (I love rose oil, but almost invariably there is something I don't like in rose perfumes). I think the rose note is so nice my nose is confused and thinks it's smelling LotV because it's rarely if ever smelled a good rose note in a perfume. There's some green underneath, but it's not the primary profile to me, and I do not smell what I recognize as a fig note at all beyond maybe the lightest touch of a thick, resinous sweetness. It's overall very floral, I wouldn't say that this is primarily green or fruity, or even all that sweet. A fresh solar rose would probably be the most apt description for this. If you love rose and floral fragrances, you should give this a try. If you're looking for a different take on Philosykos, this isn't the fragrance that will get you there. Regardless, overall this is a really lovely floral: clearly well composed, balanced, and wearable. 8.5/10.

“I’m in love, I’m in love and I don’t care who knows it.” I remember the first time I tried my mini bottle, it immediately made me think of Buddy the ELF. I genuinely love Christmas and was so stunned by this perfume. Not for basic cotton-headed ninny muggins. It’s traveling through the seven levels of the CANDY CANE forest, past the sea of twirly-swirly gum drops, and then walking through the Lincoln Tunnel. Pine trees, fresh snow and candy canes. It’s cutting down a real tree from Central Park and decorating it with your loved ones. It’s singing out loud in a store, eating spaghetti with maple syrup and going to a coffee shop, ordering your favorite drink and shouting “You did it! “Congratulations! World's best cup of coffee! Great job, everybody! It's great to be here.” It starts off fresh, pine trees swiftly blowing in the winter time, while eating a candy cane. It warms up to a hot cup of coffee while twirling it around with your candy cane to scoop out some of the whipped cream. On your front porch overlooking the beautiful countryside. That settles into a very sophisticated bowl of spaghetti with maple syrup and tiny marshmallows. Creamy and sweet, not too sweet. Perfectly balanced in my opinion. I love it on myself but wouldn’t mind my boyfriend wearing it. It’s amazing, clean and fresh with a sweet and creamy dry down. Very luxurious, for the CLASSY kind hearted human who shares my affinity for Elf culture. Long lasting and great for cold weather, but could also be worn in the summer time. On a yacht somewhere on the French Riviera having breakfast at sea. BISOUS
