Eau Sauvage Extreme 2010

The Eau Sauvage line is not the most mainstream line but it's mind blowing how this fragrance has managed to fly under the radar in the community. This is an ultra masculine scent that takes the best from the citrus aromatic base that the line is known for and incorporates elements of a fougere into it. In the opening you get a big blast of citruses with a minty feel, and you can start detecting a resinous element sitting underneath. As the fragrance dries down, you get more of the lavender along with a strong green scent. From a personal standpoint, I love classic smelling fragrances which have been modernized slightly to remove the overly old school/retro vibes, and this falls perfectly into that category. I would say this is better suited for someone 30+ and overall I think it's pretty versatile. I just wouldn't use it in an overly casual environment. Where this fragrance falls short is in the performance. I got a newer batch from 2023 and from the tests I've done, I get about 3.5 to 4 hours where the fragrance is noticeable. It can linger as a pure skin scent for an hour or two more but I don't consider that to be real performance. It's really surprising because it opens up pretty strong and it does have good projection for the first hour and a half and it gives the impression that it will last a good 6+ hours...but sadly it collapses quickly after the third hour. I don't know what Francois Demachy did in Eau Sauvage Cologne to get that fragrance to last 6-7 hours(with what on paper should be a more fleeting scent!), but I wish they had done the same with this one. Taking everything into consideration, I'll still give this a 8.5/10. If the performance was better, this would be a strong contender for being my all time favorite scent.

I'm writing a new review for this as I'm starting to appreciate this Extreme version (2018 or 2019 purchase) more so than before. I've always appreciated this, but I think I was hoping for too much of a flanker of the original Eau Sauvage EDT or EDP, both of which are in my top 5 favorites, possibly top 3. While I'm not sure this is quite in that iconic category, but it's certainly in my top 15, maybe top 10. If not for my love for others, this could easily be in my top 5 and I'd be happy. It's a different kind of fragrance from both EDT and EDP. It's more of a minty, herbal, piney, aromatic with anise/licorice vibes to it. It's a very classy, high quality, timeless, gentlemanly scent. Fitting for a black tie event or cocktail party. Just so smooth and classy. ====================================== OLDER REVIEW IN 2019 Between EDT and EDP. More floral. Slightly spicier. Easier to enjoy drydown than EDP...less woody or fragrance like. Very nice. 9/10. Rank as EDT, ESE, EDP? Update: After wearing these 3 over many months, I've learned to appreciate each of them even more, with the ESE making the smallest jump up, tho still very much appreciated. It doesn't have the sparkle of the EDT and does not have the stark sophistication of the EDP, but it is a sweeter, pinier, barbershoppy version of the EDT and very nice in it's own right. EDP has made the biggest jump up, perfect for fall and winter...the perfect sophisticated austere gentlemanly scent for cooler weather. New ranking is EDT, EDP, and ESE.

Whereas the original EDT has a bright blast of lemon quickly followed by basil, this opens more "minty" and with a cool, mentholated quality. It remains fresh and medicinal but does become more aromatic and spicy with both cumin/coriander notes detectable. After a while (half hour), it darkens and starts to resemble a classic pine/oakmoss fragrance. It only gets darker and more complex from here - the notes listed above don't fully represent all the intricacies this scent offers. A couple of hours later & the profile is still darkening and mutating, it gets a little fruity, a little boozy, maybe some phantom "elderberry" facets, the scent then leans oriental & becomes rich & woody with ambery spices alongside a dark, "petrol-esque" smokiness. As it becomes a skin scent it even throws up suggestions of chocolate and has a delectable woody/musky oppulence. Overall a spicy, woody, mossy, aromatic fragrance. It's definitely a masculine scent and may be better for cold days, but would suit evening wear year round. Performance is good. As far as being a flanker I feel this isn't that similar to the original, so, if you're looking for a stronger version of that, I'm not sure this is it... However! This scent is good enough to stand on its own, is very unique and, IMO, overlooked.

Yes! This is a more modern day twist of Eau Sauvage Edt. It's fresher, rather minty, slightly herbal with some medicinal like accords, making it very wearable. However some users might associate it with some medicinal herbal spray with methol like properties. It smells good thou, works well in both cold and warm conditions. It isn't that loud nor is it soft, with enough sprays does normal projection and silage. It's not a mass Appealing scent profile and will only suit certain noses that likes such a scent profile. It's not so easily available anywhere everywhere either. Comes in an attractive nice black silver eau savage styled bottle that's nice to look at and also display. Can be oversprayed without getting too much attention. Safe scent to buy if you like mintyness and herbal green with the eau Sauvage dna.

Takes the classic scent of Dior Eau Sauvage and makes it resinous with an almost sweet licorice opening. Reminiscent of the smell of anise liquor. Still carries the barbershop DNA and a pronounced lavender. This is not as fresh as the original but deeper and more intense, so I keep this for nights and colder days and use the original for warmer weather. If you are looking for a new fragrance to replace YSL Rive Gauche pour Homme (and do not want to pay the crazy prices the vintage bottles of this go for) this is a great one , in the same vein (but definitely a lot "darker") Incredible performance, lasts 12 plus hours easily on me. Can be smelled on clothing for days. Light spraying required with this one as it really is very strong. My bottle is from around 2019.
