J'Adore Absolu

The previous editions of J'Adore never appealed to me, but I am very impressed with the 2018 J'Adore Absolu. I own Michael Kors and Gucci Bloom, and while similar, it is distinct enough, and I think sufficiently superior, to become an edition to my wardrobe. J'Adore Absolu is far more subtle than Michael Kors (a mainly Tuberose, Jasmine and Freesia fragrance on my skin), and rounder and longer lasting than Bloom (Tuberose, Jasmine and Honeysuckle). Whatever the "nectar" note is, I think this is what makes J'Adore Absolu 2018 a more pleasant fragrance than the others I mentioned. To see if I really need yet another Tuberose/Jasmine dominant fragrance in my wardrobe (who am I kidding - I'm getting it), I have worn my sample of J'Adore for the past three days. Today I have it on my left wrist and elbow, with Bloom on my chest and Michael Kors on my right arm. If my house went up in a perfume fuelled inferno (shudder), I would use the insurance payout to buy J'Adore Absolu, but I wouldn't replace the other two. I prefer J'Adore Absolu over them both. While it is not a dupe of Prada La Femme (which has bees wax as a note, while this has nectar), J'Adore Absolu has a similar dense, sweet, opulent loveliness. It is utterly feminine. Sillage is slightly more than arms length, using three sprays, and longevity is fantastic, easily staying on my skin overnight. Dior can concentrate on marketing this one and shelve Joy in my opinion. I see that other reviewers have called J'Adore Absolu "elegant". I agree. This is a class act.

This is on a completely different level than J'adore and it's other flankers! I never cared for the original. There was something cloying and artificial about it. I think it might be due to the pear and the melon. This is a pure floral delight. It does bear a resemblance to the original when first applied, but within 10 minutes it becomes it's own fragrance. The jasmine is so clear and pure - not the least bit headachy - and the tuberose lends a nice, creamy support. It behaves well, and does not suffocate the other floral. The note pyramid belies a definite fruity effect in the composition, which I attribute to the orange blossom and a very slight lemony effect undoubtedly from the magnolia. I believe that this is what underlies the nectar quality- it's almost like honey devoid of anything animalic or earthy. Not that this is all those two notes contribute! They blend in seamlessly with the other white florals, creating something greater than the sum of it's parts. The only note I can not detect is the rose. I'm sure it plays a role, but with all of that white floral goodness going on, I can't say I miss it! If you haven't tried this because you don't care for the original or any other flankers, you may find that this is the exception. I must thank the gracious Ana for sending me a decant. I would have never given this a second thought had it not been for her. It really is extraordinary!

This isn't necessary a review, but more a comparison between the old and new formulation. I am by no means good at describing perfumes or a perfume connoisseur. To me the old formulation is definitely more potent than the new version, especially in the opening, and the Ylang Ylang is very prominent to my nose in the old formulation, which is also the immediate difference between the two. The newer formulation being softer and less dimensional and the Jasmin/Tuberose seems to take more center stage with noticeable sweetness peaking through, which probably comes from the nectar. The sweetness in this to me is not a candy, syrupy nor synthetic kind of sweetness, but it is natural, a bit comforting and well blended. There is a similar DNA between the old and new formulation, however to me the new formulation stands on its own and smells like a different kind of perfume. So if you prefer the old formulation I would suggest to see if you can still get your hands on it, because that scent is now gone. However in my opinion this perfume is softness, feminine, classy and pure elegance. I can see someone receiving a lot of compliments from wearing this. It seems to be more of a day perfume than a night perfume, however I wouldn't call it an office perfume either. It makes me think of a confident woman wearing a white lace dress having lunch at a cozy cafe in spring with a handsome gentleman.

This is elegance and beauty in a bottle. It's just stunning. Not often will I smell a white floral and think of it as feminine, elegant, sophisticated, intoxicating, soft, clean, creamy and SEXY. I don't think I have ever described a white floral perfume in this way before but this is what J'Adore Absolu gives to me. It is natural smelling, well blended and there is no screetchiness that you can sometimes get from florals. There is a hint of something that is not listed in the notes that adds a tad of sweetness like honey or vanilla and in my mind it smells golden like the juice in the bottle...IMO it does have a similar vibe to Chanel Gabrielle Essence which I also have but this leans more floral, a bit more elevated, more womanly and sexy whilst the other is a bit sweeter, fruiter and more of an every day fragrance. In terms of performance, J'Adore Absolu remains quite linear on my skin. The sillage is about arm's length initially and then it maintains a scent bubble around you. Longevity is moderate on the skin but on clothes you could get up to about 6 hours. Although I do smell it also on my clothes the next day but again the scent is soft. There is something quite captivating about this perfume for me. It makes me feel good wearing it and although it's not a massive projector when people come really close to you they will enjoy it too!

This is a gorgeous perfume, a deeper expression of the original J'Adore - almost as if this is the INTENSE Version. The advertising is fabulous - Charlize Therone soaking in a Turkish Bath with goddess like women relaxing around the water. The video ends with a stylish fashion show with models in transparent gold gowns marching forward on runway. I tried Infinissime, J'Adore In Joy, and Absolute Dior on... spritzing them at the mall. Infinissime and Absolut Dior share the same DNA of the original J'Adore... J'Adore in Joy is more of a salty/marine chord after the first spray begins to absorb into the skin. This is classic (NOT "old lady")!!!!!!! LOL... But I'm beginning to figure out that a number of perfumes that people refer to as "old lady" - may actually mean that the perfume smells more like "old money". This smells expensive, tasteful, refined, something that a cultured woman would wear... yes - someone who even has millions in the bank. This is beautiful - truly ageless and timeless. This could definitely be in the running for a "signature" perfume. I feel a similar vibe with Infinissime, only Absolut is a bit more clear and direct in the opening notes. If you like this - try the original J'Adore - and Infinissime. They all share a similar DNA.

I got my bottle yesterday. While I never got the privilege of trying out the previous J’adore Absolu , I must say this one is in between a like and a love for me. I’m not a perfume connoisseur so I may not be very apt with describing notes. That being said , the opening seems very bright and effervescent to me. Also at the opening I sense the presence of the original J’ adore . It dries down to something floral and sweet and doesn’t change much on my skin. It’s not overly sweet . It seems balanced - between the florals and sweetness. I got this for the tuberose, I can sense it but it’s not sickeningly obvious. It spells ‘playful sophistication’. This should be great for spring , fall and summer IMO. I think I might also wear it during the winter too It lasts for a decent length of time. At the sixth hour mark it’s still there. It’s not a sillage bomb like Lor, which is my favorite form this line . It’s in between moderate and heavy. If you didn’t quite like the original but you are into sweet fragrances , then you might want to check this out. Sample first before committing. This was a blind buy for me and I’m happy with it.

I wore J'Adore when it was first released, many years ago and was smitten by it. It was an all encompassing floral hug, unlike any perfume I had experienced before. Whilst many of the big hitters at that time were heavy, oriental scents (Opium, Poison and Cinnabar), J'Adore was elegant, long-lasting and relatively subtle by comparison. I wore this, and Estee Lauder's Beautiful, practically all the time until the mid-90s, when I moved onto Sun, Moon and Stars and Ocean Dreams. J'Adore Absolu was on sale at our local chain store, for a ridiculously low price, so I was tempted to try it. Having read the reviews of the original J'Adore, and its reformulation I was unsure what to expect. But I was delighted; on me, this is exactly what J'Adore smelt like all those years ago. A heady cloud of floral gorgeousness. Sillage and longevity are not quite the same, which is a pity, but I absolutely love it. As it's been discontinued, I will try the original and see how that performs.

It was a good experience, a yummy bouquet of white flowers that morphs into a sweet floral nectar. Right away I can smell the flowers notes very clearly, jasmine and tuberose being dominants. I was careful to not overspray, it's powerful, one spray is enough for me. The sillage is real, on the borderline of being too much, hopefully it was still agreeable to smell and being in the cloud. It wasn't cloying, it was perfect for a cold day of fall. The perfume is long lasting, after 12 hours the scent is faint, but still sniffable and I could still smell it on my skin the day after. I will finish my sample, I don't know if I will buy it, I don't see myself reaching for it often because of how strong and floral it is, but maybe more wears will change my mind. It's floral, but not dated. The sweetened flowers remind me a perfume I have, Michael Kors Sexy Amber. I haven't tried J'Adore EDP, but maybe it would have been more in my style, I will try to smell it one day.

This is my most favorite scent of all and I'm so sad that Dior is discontinuing it... I mean, what are they thinking?! Apparently a lady at the Dior counter told me it wasn't at all popular because people thought it was too sweet, but I don't know what they are thinking... It is a lovely white floral fragrance that has the tiniest hint of citrus and lots of honey in the opening and base of the perfume. It lasts an amazingly long time and it has a moderate sillage. It is sweet, but I don't find it cloying in any way and I think it smells like a beautiful garden filled with flowers and a few roses interspersed in-between that have just been pollinated by the bees, whose hive is hanging on a tree in the middle of the garden. The queen bee looks over her kingdom and sighs in wondrous disbelief at how beautiful it is. It's so lovely, I had to buy three bottles before I couldn't anymore, despite me having a third of a 75ml bottle still left...

Absolu-ly nothing like the original J'Adore. I'm a bit stunned. Gone are the watery fruit slices and cheap hotel shampoo. Absolu is a dense, lush floral for adults. Heady, thick, sumptuous with a melange of seamless flowers... ylang-ylang, tuberose, jasmine, rose, orange flower, and the modern Dior musk base... it smells like a riff on the old Patou Joy. Not exactly the same, but you will certainly be reminded of it. LVMH launched the Joy name under Dior, and used it to release a nondescript citrusy floral. They took the Joy formula, tweaked it, and launched it as a flavor-of-the-week J'Adore flanker? I am not joking, this flanker has already been pulled from shelves. I will never understand these people. Relative to other florals on the market it's good value for your coin. If you find a bottle, snap it up. We need all the Joy we can get.

Jasmine!! Gardenia!! Rose!! Three beautiful flowers all working together to make a really amazing perfume that is super pleasant and definitely a safe blind buy :) This smells like what I wish Santa Maria Novella's, Rosa Gardenia smelled like. Not sure if I would buy for myself because I dont love gourmand smells, and although this is SUPER floral, theres something vanilla-y/creamy about it that make it smell a little too sweet for my taste, but in the defense of this perfume a lot of scents come up sweeter on me, so its probably just me. Pretty nice longevity and very reasonably priced.

Amazing!! This is warm, deep, sensual, voluptuous, and rich honeyed floral. It’s so feminine and sophisticated. The florals are so rich this gives me the impression of a floral honey butter in the beginning but it still remains light. Even though I kind of smell honey it’s more like a golden nectar. The jasmine is so amazing and natural in this and the magnolia gives a spark of slight citrus. The orange blossom is giving me a natural green image of butterflies drinking up the honey sweet floral water. It’s Absolutely stunning and beautiful.

This is a jasmine BOMB. I don't get anything but jasmine for hours after spraying this. It's a very creamy jasmine tho, light in sillage but rich in scent. Very beautiful. It morphs a bit after awhile into a powdery magnolia but I don't get much else. This reminds me of hot Southern nights on an airy veranda surrounded by gorgeous magnolia trees and honeysuckle....I love the simplicity of the florals in this. You dont need alot of confusing ingredients if you have two or three quality ones. Beautiful.

Heavenly. An exquisite jasmine-centric masterpiece. I like the original J'adore decently enough, but the citrusy vibe bores me and strikes me as a bit steno pool chic. This isn't as career ready, it's more romantic and extravagant. White florals for days, good bridal scent in my opinion. It smells like wealth, it smells like what all the J'adore advertising is trying to convince us the original smells like. This shouldn't even really be a flanker, it should just be it's own diva.

I just bought my bottle. I haven’t had it long enough to be able to tell you what to expect other than the fact that this is NOT a replacement for L’Absolu. This fragrance is totally different. I absolutely love the smell, but L’Or and the Extrait De Parfum are still the most premium/expensive versions. This version is heavier than the EDP, but weaker than L’Or I feel as if this smells the closest to the parfum extrait.

What an absolute delight! I mourned the L’Absolu with its fruits in the composition, but this is very similar, luckily. Slightly more tuberosey, but in that fresh, green way. Gorgeous rose, but it is the striking jasmin that is the queen in this composition. It’s truly a liquid gold, nectary jasmin and the scent is absolutely addictive. Layers well with J’Adore in Joy which also is truly beautiful with the salt note.

I always disliked the initial smell I’d get within the first few seconds of spraying this, but I’m glad that one day I eventually gave it a chance and wore it all day. It’s so gorgeous. Luxury in a bottle. It’s also slightly sweeter than the original. Lasts eternally, and has a enormous sillage but not the kind that would give you a headache (unlike the original). I recommend this.

This is a beautiful jasmine scent that is all-enveloping and rich. I find the tuberose a little screechy but the dry down is heavenly and has an almost aquatic sweetness to it. This is the real deal, a serious floral perfume that doesn't mess around. Be careful not to overspray.

Well, .magical..: flowers, fruits but more over a special heart so sensous . I feel a warm sandalwood and tuberose heart. The perfume is a jewel, it emphazises your womanity. Sometimes beauty is beauty, and there is no way , every body loves it.

I get so much sweet, airy rose! Which is wonderful because rose is my favourite. Combined with the white flowers, I see it as a pale pink rose in honeyed sunlight, with a jasmine-covered wall off to the side. Beautiful.
