J'adore

When I was 12 years old, my mom took me to a baby shower. We came early to help prepare the food, and I sat patiently on the couch waiting for the guests to arrive. One by one, beautiful elegant ladies started pouring in. As a 12 year old, you don't know where to look! Do you admire their grown-up makeup, their shapely figures, wishing yours would develop sooner, do you look at their hairstyles, free from the braids, bows and scrunchies your mom so embarrassingly decorated you with? Their clothes, their shoes? It was overwhelming, UNTIL... one of the girls came to sit by me. She was actually the host's sister, lived at the house, and had made no effort to dress up in front of her friends that night. She had no obvious makeup on, her hair was worn down and was just straight, she was wearing jeans and a fleece vest, but as soon as she sat next to me, her scent mesmerized me. Everyone else in the room faded, and my focus was on her. I wanted to hug her! I wanted to cuddle up next to her and fall asleep, enveloped in her glorious scent. When I asked her what perfume she was wearing, she actually stole me away from the party and took me to her room, where she had several perfumes sitting on a mirrored tray, each bottle more beautiful than the next. Now when I look back on the situation, I think I must have been in the company of a fragrance enthusiast, to be so excited about my perfume question that she would douse a 12 year old in J'adore...but she did! She reached for a gorgeous bottle with a golden coiled neck and asked me for my wrists. When I was young, my parents collected National Geographic magazines, and this bottle reminded me of photographs of women with stacks of golden coils around their necks, their heads sitting unusually high above their shoulders. I was so excited to see that that was in fact the bottle of choice. I don't remember what I felt when she sprayed the perfume, but I remember walking back into the party, perfumed with J'adore, and thinking I was the equal of all the elegant ladies sitting around the future mother. I was transformed - It's an experience I will never forget, and a scent that is forever etched into my memory. It is truly beautiful. While I would not wear this with jeans and a fleece vest like my grown-up friend did, I love this perfume and understand how somebody would want it all the time, on any occasion. It is luminous, radiant, and just utterly irresistible.

This was a totally spontaneous purchase. I usually go for vintage powerhouse fragrances and had never even considered the J'Adore line, but on a whim I tried it. I was shocked by how much I liked it! It's just so simple and fresh. When you first spray it you get a bright, dewy, burst of fruit mixed with a crisp aquatic vibe. As it settles it becomes a blended white floral bouquet. The jasmine and lily of the valley make it smell clean, elegant, and slightly soapy. After a few hours the fruit fades and the white florals melt into a warm, slightly powdery, tuberose base. It is just LOVELY. Well unfortunately, I happily doused myself the next morning after buying it and was having a sunshine and roses kind of day, until my husband hugged me and made the ick face. "God you smell like my grandma. What the hell is that??" To be clear, I've met his grandmother and if anything she smells like mothballs and spite, so that's just dumb. But I resisted the urge to spray him in the eyeballs with it. Now poor J'Adore sits lonely on my shelf, wondering what she did wrong. I save it for nights out without him or for days when I specifically want to annoy him. I wish we could be besties, but for now we're partners in petty crime. EDIT: I wear this constantly now. Any silly peasant or malcontent (or husband) that doesn't like it is free to leave, or buy me something else themselves.

Talking about J'adore by Dior is like describing a cinema classic: even if years have passed since its debut in 1999, its elegance remains unquestionable. It is the perfume that defined an era, transforming liquid gold into an olfactory icon. The Soul of J'adore: A Golden Bouquet J'adore is not just a perfume, it is a triumph of sunny femininity. Calice Becker's genius was to create a fragrance that was rich and opulent, yet fresh and luminous. The beginning is a fruity and juicy explosion. The pear and melon give an aquatic sweetness that prevents the flowers from being too heavy. It is a radiant entrance, similar to a morning light. True complexity emerges in the heart. Jasmine and tuberose dominate the scene, giving that luxurious and "adult" character, while lily of the valley and freesia maintain a feeling of cleanliness and lightness. The closure is velvety. Although the bottle recalls gala evenings, its fruity component also makes it perfect for the day or for the office, as long as you don't overdo it with the sprays.

I must have sniffed damn near every perfume in Nordstrom, but, among the army of fruity florals, J'adore is the one my mind drifted back to. It's white flowers blend together beautifully and take center stage here. This menagerie of blossoms kind of all blends together to my nose, but, among the bouquet, I can pick out jasmine the most strongly. It's very a smooth sugary jasmine with just a little bit indole adding a lusciousness to it. Mostly there to add a dewy sweetness, the pear and melon are kind of smothered by the flowers, but that's no big loss since those notes weren't particularly realistic nor interesting anyway. Despite being the most divisive aspect, I really like the watery crispness the citrus and fruits adds. I understand why some people find it harsh, and these elements do very much smell artificial in recent formulations. But, I think it lifts up the jasmine and tuberose nicely, since they can be a little heavy and musky when unbalanced. J'adore definitely has above average projection and longevity, decent price point as well. Despite my notoriously frag eating skin, I can smell this on me all day, and it's one of the only scents which projects strongly enough on me to give me a headache.

My all times compliment getter comfort scent. Its clean, its creamy, joyful, elegant, positive, distinctive, rich, sensual, feminine, chic and classy. It is also very surprising to me that I personally can pull off a complete bright floral scent so beautifully and easily. My skin goes along very well with Dior scents and I feel so lucky to wear Jadore so fitting. I always have a bottle of Jadore in my parfume closet and layer it along with hair mist too. Sillage is amazing and lasting power is very strong especially on my neck and under my hair, i love love love the trace it leaves on air. Always get compliments when i wear this. And hey, I am no “granny” (yet). However, i can say that my older batches used to smell stronger with more depth than recently bought ones. Unfortunately this is the destiny of all classic scents nowadays, to be dilluted, which is very unfair for a very well balanced masterpiece like this one.

Today I wear a sample of the wavy bottle formula and it is just like the older one. I feel no difference. A blast of solar ylang and rose blended with jasmine, with many floral and fruity nuances. I feel freesia, melon, pear, plum, magnolia. It is fresh and a floral heaven. I love the scent of all the ingredients and I love J'Adore. I remember how I was not impressed by it after just sniffing a bottle and how it blooms on my skin and lasts all day. It is how well it wears that makes me love it. On a super windy walk it was gently surrouding me with its scent. The parameters are admirable. 11 hours later I still feel its freshness but now the base notes are more noticeable, especially the blackberry and cedar, with musk rounding them. Vanilla is still faint, woven with floral notes of the heart. On the skin it lingers till next morning, a lovely soft floral full of sunshine.

It is funny that many people think this perfume is not for woman in their 20s. In my 20s this was the only perfume I owned and needed. I used 2 full bottles and would save every penny to buy the EDP and the lotion. I absolutely love it, but in my 30's I decided I wanted to smell "unique", so I got into niche fragrances. I recently tried Forbidden Games by Killian - which shares a lot of features with J'adore - and realized I miss J'adore. TBH, I am very inclined to go back to this, because it is just how I want to smell. It is a smooth, feminine white floral, with gorgeous pear notes, sophisticated, it has good longevity, good projection, it can be worn any time of the day, in any season, it is office-friendly, decent price (at least compared to many niche fragrances). It is a staple for me and I don't care anymore that everyone will know what perfume I am wearing.

Ah, J’adore by Dior. If rich aunties, golden sunsets, and perfectly manicured hands had a scent, this would be it. This is the fragrance for people who want to smell like they bathe in Evian and use silk pillowcases for their hair (which they definitely do). You know those “clean” scents that smell like generic hotel soap? J’adore is NOT that. No offense to soap, but this is the Rolls-Royce of fresh florals, not the scented dispenser in a mall bathroom. It’s clean, but in the “I just stepped out of a golden bathtub in a Parisian penthouse” kind of way. Bright and juicy with pear and bergamot—like a glass of sparkling fruit water at a five-star spa. Wear this if you want to smell effortlessly expensive, or if you're like me, who appreciates “clean” scents but demand a couture-level experience.

J'Adore is such a solar bubble. The sunshine grown flowers immortalized in a bottle. Yet the scent is hard to describe. The proportions are equal and it is blended thoroughly. It is very long lasting yet gentle. One spray or 5 and it still is easy to wear and does not intensify only collects more sillage points. I love it. Tuberose, jasmin, rose, melon. These notes I recognize in the mix. It wears so well. One of my all time favourites. I especially love the heart notes. I can wear it everyday, even with one sillage point it is still detectable by me and satisfying. I love the J'Adore family so much that I have a hard time to name the favourite. Sometimes I think the edp is the best. Versatile and great in every weather.

I cannot speak to any current formulation, but I have had 2 bottles over the years. The first one I purchased right after release. The second was purchased about a decade later, which is the bottle I am trying to use up now. Between those two bottles, the first was definitely more opulent. That said, the second bottle wasn’t bad. In fact, as I am trying to use it up now, I am blown away by how many compliments I am receiving. Men, women, children...it’s quite a compliment getter. Just make sure you spray enough to actually project. I use probably 10-12 sprays. Also, I have the matching lotion, which is a lovely milky texture. I don’t know if it’s still available, but it is so amazing. Grab some if you can.

I initially bought this for my wife, but after smelling her panties and getting a whiff of something more on the masculine side, I am now the proud owner and wearer of J'Adore. My wife sprays her intimates with her perfumes and usually it leaves a sweet fragrance trail, but when I burried my face in her panties to casually huff them, it was a straight up masculine "I just got back from the gym" type of scent. That's when the lightbulb went off and I decided it would be more appreciated worn on me. I wore this on a trip where me and the guys went hiking and they kept complimenting me on it, so I'm sure the ladies will love it! Fellas, if you're reading this..do yourself a favor and get it!

This has been one of my signature fragrances for over 10 years, I am on my 3rd bottle, a little goes a long way, and I tend to only wear this scent on very special occasions. It is absolutely exquisite, classy and ultra feminine. I love this scent to the moon and beyond, and it's flankers. If you are looking for a scent with projection, you may be disappointed, I would not say this is a skin scent, as you would have a nice 3 ft scent bubble around you. Especially in the warmer times of the year. If you spray it on clothing or hair the scent will definitely linger. This fragrance is sophisticated, elegant and timeless.

I don't think jasmine and light plum ever married this perfectly. I have pretended for years that J'Adore is just another scent while it actually is one of THE prettiest fragrances ever created. If you say you don ́t like it, you basically lie. This is the holy grail of dancing nymphs, of true love and sweet memories. I never feel happier than when I smell J'Adore and I will get it. It ́s just hard with all the fakes online, so actually this one I WILL get in a proper store. Together with Posion, just Poison. J'Adore is the only fragrance that my man will bow down to and say "Oh, how good you smell!".

No matter how much time has passed, I still believe Dior J'adore will forever be the Dior's legendary scent! I love it so much, J'adore never feels outdated and it still conquers ladies through each generation, first my mother, then I also fall in love with it. This is one of My All-time Favorite Perfumes. When wearing J'adore, its feminine Jasmine and Pear scent makes me feel like the most elegant, luxurious lady. This is definitely a great perfume that makes girls feel more confident and beautiful. Surely J'adore will forever be on my perfume shelf. Rating: 10/10, I wish it was cheaper

When I was younger I thought this smelled of elegance and wealth. I imagined this being the signature scent of a very classy rich woman. I still do think j'adore smells elegant but they reformulated this a while ago and it doesn't smell as great as before. I still love it and own a bottle, I just wish they kept it the same. Like they say, don't fix what isn't broken. Anyways, this smells of fresh florals, not as fruity as described in the notes. Projection is good and lasts max 3 hours on me. Gets me compliments sometimes.

This scent can hard to rate in modern times. The reason is quite simple; When you're the blueprint for fresh fruity floral scents, you're going to smell generic. These days, you can get a fresh fruity floral quite easily for a cheaper cost. When it released, you really only had J'adore to pick from. It's still absolutely fantastic, just not as special as it once was. On release; 11/10 - so good it breaks the scale Modern days 7 or 8/10 - Wonderful, but expensive for a profile that's not hard to get for less

I absolutely love this fragrance. If you love white florals like I do this one is for you. Those opening notes of the crisp fruits...the pear and melon. Once those mellow down you get the heart notes of the beautiful white florals...the tuberose, jasmine, and freesia.Then the base is that warm vanilla to tie it all together so perfectly. This scent is light enough to wear during the day, but sultry enough to wear for date night. Just an all-around great scent.

This was one of the first fragrances I ever fell in love with. I bought myself a bottle while studying abroad in Paris and it will forever remind me of that time. I will always have a bottle in my collection. I recently repurchased and can't tell a difference between my old nearly empty bottle and the new one. Sentimentality aside, this is a classic for a reason! It's a heady, clean smelling white floral. It has great sillage and I get 6-8 hours of longevity.

Perfectly balanced and easy to love. I consider this a must-have. The lily of the valley is just astringent enough to keep the tuberose from dominating. The Peach and Melon is just present enough to give the floral a counterpoint. The musk is just enough to provide a foundation so the other scents don't deflate. Literally every single woman that I know enjoys this scent, which is rare. So I consider this a first choice for gifting.

this perfume is perfection to my brain. oh my goodness. it meshes the best with springtime weather in all honesty but it’s fine during other seasons. i felt that it was too mature-smelling when i first received it, likely due to how it initially sits on one’s skin, but once dried down it’s just gorgeous. “warming up” to it will likely not be an issue for most. fully recommend!
