La Collection Couturier Parfumeur Vetiver

One thing that’s always amazed me with vetiver as a fragrance component, is how the perfumer has always been able to interpret it in so many ways when it’s used as the dominant note in a composition. Whether that be a clean, green, bright fragrance from the grass itself, like Dior Vetiver or Vetyver Givenchy or the earthier & dirtier vetiver root derived offerings like Chanel Sycomore or Lalique’s incredible Encre Noire, the possibilities seem endless. Of the cleaner more green vetivers, I’ve always wanted Dior Vetiver to be my absolute favourite but for me, it’s always fought for first place against Givenchy Vetyver, which I regard as the ‘Gentleman’s Vetiver.’ I owned my first bottle of Dior Vetiver in 2012 and was amazed at the minimalist composition; pure green vetiver and coffee which was refreshingly clean and simplistic but the coffee note was more prominent and added another dimension; almost a light cacao/coffee nuance, whereas the 250ml bottle I purchased in Paris just prior to it’s unfortunate discontinuation, seems to lack the distinct & obvious coffee element of before: it’s still there but very subdued. Given that it’s unlikely that the coffee note in my new bottle has been altered due to any ingredient restrictions, I can only presume that the 2012 version I still have a small amount of, has just improved with age in the bottle like a fine wine. Although I’m slightly disappointed by my new bottle, in comparison to my 2012 purchase, I wouldn’t part with it for anything and I get a ton of compliments from it in autumn/early winter or on a crisp spring day. I do go for the dirtier, root vetivers in really cold weather because I find this a little too delicate for those days but it does still work, although with less longevity & sillage. I would also say that it is a very unisex vetiver because it is so bright and clean. I know a lot of women steer clear of vetiver dominant fragrances because of their ‘heaviness’ but I’ve always found it as a component, very sexy on a lady and Dior Vetiver would most definitely work very elegantly, no question. It certainly is a very modern vetiver that is classy, chic and refined but quite clearly, its discontinuation has sent the secondary market price stratospheric from its already sky-high cost, so if it’s on your ‘must have’ list, grab it if you see it because I can see this one disappearing into collections, never to resurface unless Dior re-release it. That all being said though, I can’t quite help but think that despite it clearly being a minimalist work of the perfumer’s art, because of its discontinuation, it has become a little over-hyped for what it ultimately is. Yes I love it and I’m very happy that I own it but I’m not sure I’d scour the ends of the earth to find it. One final observation..... I am greatly surprised that Dior Eau Sauvage Parfum (2012 original version) wasn’t released as part of Collection Couturier/Dior Privèe in place of Dior Vetiver because it’s just an incredible composition with the Myrrh note but I guess that just comes down to timing. As Dior Vetiver was a 2010 release, I can only assume that Demachy thought them too similar to place within the same line but given the current crop of mediocre Maison Dior offerings, I think it was a missed opportunity within the Privèe line.

Number of times tested: 12+ wearings over the past year on mild to hot days. Typical Application: One spray on the back of wrists and one on neck/collar. Opening through drydown: Bright, almost tart, opening which mellows into a long-lasting and nicely linear drydown. Longevity: Assertive for 12 or more hours...I pick it up until I shower at night. Sillage: Mild to moderate sillage. Projection is polite. Value: $180, until April, for the smallest bottle (125ml). At this price point mortals need to sample before buying. Once you fall in love you'll save up and purchase Vetiver with no remorse. This is a large bottle of a high end fragrance that will last for years. It is a good value. Appeal: D. Vetiver has a learning curve. It was more curiousity than love at first sniff. Instinct said to stop and spend some time with this one. It gets better each time I wear it. This is not typical designer fare and it won't have broad appeal. Select fragrance lovers will come to appreciate this deeply. Wearers will subtly stand out from the crowd wearing this alternative to better known vetivers. Impressions: I adore Dior Vetiver. It is integral to my fragrance wardrobe. This is unisex tilting slightly masculine. Men and women over 25 cannot go wrong here. This clean elegant perfume makes sense on warm days for casual and casually dressed up occasions. On hot days it is fresh but not cooling like light aquatics. One doubts Dior's minimalist note list of just vetiver and coffee is the real story. It is fascinating to compare this with it's younger and more masculine cousin Eau Sauvage Parfum, another hidden gem which boasts only three notes; vetiver, bergamot, and myrrh. Dior's Vetiver is an impeccably crafted scent. It is a reference vetiver. I tested this alongside vetiver centric offerings by Creed, Guerlain, Jo Malone and even the nice and dusty Encre Noire and found it overall more pleasing and wearable. I reach for it often, no small indicator of the connection one has with a fragrance. It is intentionally simple. The dry down is not dramatic nor does it need to be. It is confident, classy, modern and pleasantly well mannered. This collection by an iconic designer is arguably the most diverse and artful set of fragrances on the market. La Collection Privee is an ambitious and modern portfolio based in the best traditions of the craft. And Vetiver holds it's own amid the powerhouse lineup which includes Mitzah, Bois D'argent, and Ambre Nuit to name a few. I consider Vetiver transcendent and highly recommend collectors take a studied look at this unassuming treasure, if you can find it. Enjoy.

Bright and sparkling are the words that fit the best this vetiver. Very uplifting, and moderate/good performance. It is still available in Paris stores, together with the other supposedly discontinued frags like Eau Noire, Leather Oud, Mitzah, and Cuir Cannage (just ask an SA, they are all stored "under the counter", and will pull them out only by request). Did I buy one? No, because the vetiver frag offering is massive, and many great vetivers can be found for 2-3X less. This one is a great vetiver, but after having smelled 40-50 vetiver frags, and owning 20+, I have not been wowed. (unlike my encounter with Jovoy Private Label, that obliged me to buy it immediately). A very good alternative to this one is Elie Saab Vetiver n.6, that currently retails for 4-5 times less at discounters. Ok, the performance is a little lower compared to Dior's, but the scent is close imo. Dior's may be a hint earthier than Saab's (reminding me of Chanel Sycomore during some whiffs), but still, the current price difference is unjustified imo. Chanel Sycomore (and the low cost Lalique Encre Noire a' L'Extreme) is a little more interesting imo. Also, did you know that despite Demachy is signing all Dior's fragrances, the SA admitted that in reality they hire several perfumers "incognito", and keep Demachy for the "in-house" perfumer marketing story? ;) I wouldn't be surprised if one day I learned that Francis Kurkdjian and/or Christopher Sheldrake is/are the perfumer(s) behind Dior's Vetiver... Spring/Summer, 25+

I have worn Guerlain Vetiver since my high school days back in the 80's. To me there was no other Vetiver in the world that compared. Sadly I have to say that my beloved Vetiver of Guerlain has found a superior. Dior Vetiver is more refined, elegant, fresher, and durable. This is Vetiver in your face and a high quality one at that. This is is a minimalist Vetiver fragrances, but it is adorable and excels in elegance. It is all about the quality of the ingredients and the making what makes wine, food, colognes, etc stand a few nodges above the average, and Dior's Vetiver is proof of it. And as an EDP this one lasts a long time on me which Guerlain's and others could not do. Chanel Sycomore (which I own and cannot compare to Dior because of the dryer and much different Vetiver note), you have found a companion in your category and my collection, with a longevity that you don't offer. Well done Dior. Guerlain Vetiver, I still love you; but you'll just have to step down from my pedestal. On the negative side for coffee lovers such as myself, I wish I could smell the coffee accord. I don't get any. Lucky you if you do.

A deconstructed, elegant, minimalist, and superb take on vetiver. And by far, my favorite. The effervescence and tartness of grapefruit gives the fragrance a youthful and fresh opening and tempers vetiver's inherent earthiness and medicinal green-ness. While the coffee note at the base adds a complexity and heft to it without weighing it down. Seamless and superbly blended, it beguiles. Definitely unisex and a good introduction to those that generally feel vetiver is not to their liking. Sadly discontinued. I wish Maison Dior would have the good sense to bring this back, instead of their current pale and aquarelle offerings that are wan and bloodless. A masterpiece in my book, and highly recommended!

Had friend that was going to Paris so I asked them to get this for me. Apparently it is only available at 2 Dior boutiques and only in 6.8oz (250ml) very large bottle. It’s very interesting the coffee has a interesting burnt sensation, in a good way. I read a review of someone saying it smelled like smelling a sharpie with coffee burning in the background. I could see this so defiantly be carful blind buying however this item is hard to test out due to its exclusivity. I wish that the citrusy zing would stick around longer but I love it. This is definitely becoming one of my signature scents and not just because I have a massive bottle of it.

Dior vetiver is a sharp green vetiver fragrance. It does have a little feel of coffee in the begining but that fades away quickly. All that is left out later is that green vetiver like freshly cut minutes ago. One of the most green vetiver I have smelled till date. Unfortunately I am not a big fan of green vetiver but i rather enjoy encre noire kind of dark vetiver.Anyone who loves the green vibe is going to like this for sure. Overall its a nice scent and i would say its inoffensive as well if used with care. Can be a good office wear too. Give it a try. not a blind buy worthy for me.

Vetiver by Dior is another staple to one's vetiver desires. It's a very simplistic yet high quality vetiver fragrance. It's not a smokey dirty vetiver like Sycomore, nor is it sweet like Vetiver Tonka. It's an elegant, dry, clean take on vetiver with a subtle coffee note. This is something i picture Cary Grant wearing while in his well-tailored suit. Also, its something of what a minimalist would wear, all about clean lines. This will be a buy for me.

This is one of the most beautiful Vetiver base fragrance i have ever smelled.interesting fragrance. It's woody,aromatic,green. It's a good perfume for all seasons. It's a good perfume for males. The best vetiver based fragrance in my opinion. Grapefruit and green earthy vetiver with a unique touch from The coffee note giving this a deeper smell. The coffee note is there but this is all about VETIVER! Decent projection and longevity. Perfect as a signature scent. A love from me.

Dior Vetiver (2010) - crisp coffee - #francoisdemachy makes an accord out of grass/earthy Vetiver and Coffee. Simple in its concept, yet this isn’t boring. There’s an underlying sweetness in the base akin to Tonka beans that I detect. Perfect with a white shirt.

This is the best vetiver scent I've ever smelt. I'd put this up against anything. Too bad it's discontinued. I've kept my tiny 1ml sample for the past 5 years or so just to remind me what this smells like.

My signature scent by Francois Demachy. Dark green Haitian Vetiver with South American Coffee. Smooth, sophisticated and elegant. This one is magical and special to me. This juice makes me happy. 🔥

So....I'm somewhat surprised that I've never commented on this before but it's not exactly the most outstanding fragrance so maybe I'm not? Anyway... To me this is a very good fragrance based around Vetiver materials, but is the best? No. Does it have a sense of being elevated to justify being a Dior exclusive? Yes...I'd say so. It has both elements of the fresh, bright but earthy and dry, also the creamy aspect, also this coffee accord/note/element is there but I just figured that was a facet of the vetiver, because it's extremely slight (certainly no Eau noire coffee) so it's good in those terms but I just don't like it as much as I should. This was the issue when I first tried it many years ago, it just didn't stand out for me, and now due to exclusivity, and the fact that modern Dior Privee releases have been a bit....shit! (let's face it) Vetiver has become more sort after and placed on a slightly elevated pedestal for what is a kind of smooth, soapy floral, vetiver type fragrance. It's no Guerlain Vetiver. I don't deny that this is a very professional fragrance, unlikely to offend anyone in an office or meeting type environment and promotes a sense of 'that person smells really good' due to it's cleanly, ubiquity and effortless class but for me I'd rather wear (the perhaps marginally more polarising?) Tom Ford Grey Vetiver which for me is simultaneously bolder and fresher than this outing. I don't blame anyone for loving this perfume and saying that I'm wrong about my personal vetiver preferences, because it is very good, just when you can afford to be exacting about a genre, do be!

Dior's Vetiver is another beauty from the privee line, and like Eau Noire and Mitzah, it is also discontinued. It's green, woody, and dirty, an interesting and arguably middle-of-the-road vetiver take that is both familiar and refined, and probably unusually versatile. This might work as well in formal occasions as it does at the gym, even. I don't smell any of the purported coffee note, just a woody base that may have something like patchouli or another earthy aspect paired with the vetiver itself. Performance is good for an EDP, though not a powerhouse. Frankly, if I were to opt for a fresher vetiver, I would select Roja Vetiver, and if were to opt for a dirtier, woody vetiver, I would choose Chanel Sycomore. Dior Vetiver is somewhere in between. It's difficult to stomach buying at now-discontinued secondary market prices, though, so I'll probably steer clear and just pick up Sycomore at some point in addition to the Roja Vetiver I just acquired. 7 out of 10

Dior’s Vetiver is another quality, minimalistic vetiver scent, clean and crisp, slightly soapy and delicate. A brief uplifting tangy fruity top leads to a pleasant vetiver drydown cemented with iso E super. The vetiver note is grassy, slightly smoky and bitter but it softens with time becoming sweeter with the gentlest coffee note added to dress its solo with a nutty accent. Truth to be told none of the La Collection Privée has been a major release and although well-executed and masterfully blended the compositions are somewhat uninspiring. Vetiver doesn’t fly over the clouds either and is more or less a flawless but timid treatment of this majestic note. Thence it is a reliable and agreeable fragrance in a mundane way overall.

A nice minimalistic vetiver. In the opening, there is slight grapefruit to give it zest, later some coffee comes into play. A nice fragrance, and i have a decant, but i cannot see myself buying a bottle. Also, its kind of weird to see people think this is excellent for spring/summer? in my opinion, the earthy coffee vibe makes this so much better for a crisp cold winter day. Please try wearing this in the winter, and tell me how it feels. I found that it gains its magic in the winter, if anything.

I seriously have no idea why people are voting that this is more suitable in spring and summer...please try this on a cold winter day. It shines with its crispness, and the darkness coming from the coffee note. Its gorgeous. For me, it becomes too damp for spring and summer, it loses the crispy quality.

7/10. Yellow chypre. A little bit like Guerlain Elixir Charnel Chypre Fatal. Powdery spicy pepper dill weed seed with violet underneath. Later lemon citrus peel. Very unusual, almost savory. It can be worn by a woman but probably sexier on a man.

Got in on a split of this juice and I'm kinda in the middle about it. Typical Dior quality but as many have said this lacks complexity. Not a groundbreaking fragrance at all but I am glad I got it through a split and not a full bottle.

Diors Vetiver is an earthy and green kind of vetiver. I do get the coffee-accord, but to me it comes across a bit "nutty". I barely get any citruses but more earthy, woody vetiver.

Intensely fresh, wet vetiver. Almost mentholated. Piercing. Mild nuance adds a touch of depth. High quality vetiver here and that's about it. Something like Nuit de Megéve.

Wait for the Lemon Pledge opening to fade. You eventually get to a nice smoky vetiver. Better yet, get Chanel's Sycomore instead.

I thought perhaps this might be the ultimate green vetiver (versus dried/brewed vetiver). So I have worn my sample a few times and have concluded that it is a very nice linear composition, just a touch sweet to counteract the harsh/bitter quality of vetiver, but I'm not won over enough to seek out a full bottle. Aside from the original cost being a bit high ($210 for 4.2oz), it is now even more expensive having been discontinued. Additionally, I can't help but notice how this starts out with a kind of "sweet plastic" note. It just smells a little strange to me--is it earthy/natural or synthetic? Thankfully, it does eventually smooth out and smell more natural. Then I find myself feeling a hint of Encre Noire (after sufficiently dried down), sweetened up a bit... if you can ignore the smokiness of Encre Noire. Dior's Vetiver is a finer quality fragrance, no doubt, and I would buy a full bottle if it was only more reasonably priced (i.e. $125 for 3.4oz). Elegant simplicity of soft vetiver. If I was going to pick a green vetiver as my one and only, it would still have to be Etro Palais Jamais--a gorgeous vetiver with a little less class, but much more reasonably priced. Sorry, Dior.

Vetiver is a very modern offering, Francois Demachy's take on the essential ingredient is one of class. However, this is nothing like most other 'Vetiver' titled fragrances I've tried in a while. Guerlain's Vetiver EDT was much too weak, although still lovely, Sycamore was definitely an A+ scent but it veers in a totally different direction and Hermes' Vetiver Tonka was obviously too much more than Vetiver. This is a very green and citrusy vetiver, at least from the start. As Dior seems to, oddly, shy away from creating scents to dominated by Vetiver, this was a fresh look into Demachy's mind. It was mildly evolutionary. However, before 2010, the same could have been said about Oudh. So, not so special. We've all smelt oudh, we've all smelt vetiver... moving on. There's honestly not much to say about this that I could think of to seperate it from other vetiver offerings. It's modern, chic and classy... the vetiver is earthy, woody and very mossy. Lasts ages, the sillage is decent. Not entirely complex, but I guess that's not a bad thing. but the coffee is less detectable here than in Eau Noire It's pretty damn good and definitely worth the money if you can find it. 7/10 for me

Dior's Vetiver is an elegant take on an often used fragrance ingredient,which is often used as a bass note or mid note supporting act. I do not get any citrus note in the opening,Sicilian grapefruit essence is listed on Dior's official website. Very sophisticated in its simplicity with rich,fragrant and earthy(yet not dirty)vetiver taking up the whole stage. Similar in this single minded approach to vetiver as Dior Eau Sauvage Parfum which is much sweeter with the citrusy bergamot opening and full blooded myrrh assault receiving top billing in my opinion. The high quality Haitian vetiver here is sublimely refined and,without stating the obvious,it would need to be as there is only a dry subtle slightly roasted coffee note to support it.As always with Dior the quality of the core ingredients shines through. I am fortunate to be in possession of this masterpiece as the Dior salesperson at the Sydney boutique said there were only 2 bottles left.Hence I had to snap up the second last one before its consigned forever to the perfume history books.

Dior's take on Vetiver is modern, crisp and has a couple of interesting nuances. It is a relatively straightforward vetiver with a twist of a note of roasted coffee beans. There is an initial hint of grapefruit as the vetiver is introduced; the vetiver is fresh, has the slightest hint of smoke. It is joined by a faint aroma of roasted coffee beans. This coffee note brings out more the rooty and earthy qualities of the vetiver; however, such nuances are very much kept to a minimum. At times there are allusions to nutty and blond tobacco notes. Dior's Vetiver has appreciable soft sillage and a moderate duration of about six to seven hours, which is on or above par for vetiver fragrances. Dior's Vetiver is a quality vetiver fragrance that is recommended to anyone exploring fresher takes on vetiver. The neutral rating is mostly reflective of personal taste. While I admire the composition, the note of coffee, and the resulting vetiver accord is not as engaging to one's tastes. 3/5 (neutral)

For about a year now (or so) I own a large decant of Dior Vetiver. I might not be a huge fan of this note, but I like wearing it from time to time, especially when it rains and also on cold spring and autumn days. It opens up with a burst of sharp and sour citruses but that fades away quite quickly. Fades away to a beautiful, green vetiver. Nothing fancy nor complicated. A quintessence of vetiver. Very long lasting - usually it stays on me from 8 to 14 hours. Sillage is poor to moderate - it's not a loud fragrance at all. Now - the similarities. I own Sycomore (a fabric sample of EDP and a decant of EDT), I own Encre Noire. I wouldn't say Dior Vetiver is similar neither to Sycomore (EDT or EDP) nor to Encre Noire. I'd say it's similar to a classic Guerlain Vetiver. Especially this mix of green vetiver and sharp citruses is what they have in common. For me it's a big yes and a buy. I am thinking of buying a bottle.

Courtesy of another Fragrantica member I finally got my hands on a bnib 250ml bottle Of this heavenly Vetiver! My take on this creation is a nice crisp Vetiver. I can’t smell coffee at all. I actually get a smell of cherry and vanilla mixed with Vetiver. Strange and nobody else has mentioned this, but that’s what I get. It has a gourmand side to it. It is definitely safe, office, daytime, spring/summer. Not quite a freshy but uplifts you on a warmer day. It is a top notch Vetiver, maybe not the best but it is a top contender. For the rarity, which in turn escalated the price, it is probably not worth it. It’s not ground breaking. You can get away with something for a fraction of the price and get almost the same result. That said, I’m definitely happy to have it and will enjoy wearing it! I will be the only one (or close to it) in my city with this fragrance! 7.5/10

I was fortunate enough to be able to get a 250ml bottle of this juice last month in Paris, at a Dior boutique. I blind bought it, since I had never smelled it before the purchase (no, they did not have any samples...). I must say that this was, without a doubt, the best blind buy I made so far. This Vetiver fragrance is simply joyful, natural, non agressive (coffee here means something nutty to me). It is a sunny version of Guerlain Vetiver. It opens with citric notes that last a little, reveals a shiny vetiver and leaves a woody/nutty base (coffee). Extremely masculine and pleasant, beautiful! Together with Creed Original Vetiver (which is completely different), this is the best Vetiver IMHO.

Dior's interpretation of vetiver is essential, fresh, minimalistic, no-surprise and leaves vetiver to speak by itself. Opens with a zingy green citrus accord and evolves into an incredibly satisfying, high-quality multi-facets woody/earthy/rooty vetiver with a nice projection and a good lasting power. An incredibly simple composition that sounds more like a tribute to this fascinating root. I still prefer the complexity of Sycomore or the green edges of Vetiver Extraordinaire, but Dior Vetiver is surely another great high-end vetiver to add to my list of favorites. No coffee detected, sorry. Rating: 8/10

Again, I am sounding like an old record but "henri345que" has nailed it on the head. I like this one very much but find that the coffee note makes it more interesting and arguably more appealing to the masses (given the never-ending trend of gourmand notes). In the dry-down I get somehow something woodsy, creamy, sandalwood similar to Joop! Homme. Very potent. Very masculine. I think this could be a great mix/ layering scent, i.e. use this as a base for let's say the light and fruity GUERLAIN Homme to make it last longer..... Or give the classic "Fahrenheit" a new Vetiver twist by blending?

Like Tobacalor, I get a much simpler composition than stated notes. I get a fresh vetiver and only vetiver, the same vetiver as that used in Guerlain Vetiver. It's fresh, though substantial. It's pleasant, the bottle looks incredibly cool and understated, and quality is fine. Sillage and longevity are on the low end unfortunately. 3 sprays on one arm and I can barely detect it 4h in. FWIW, I'm wearing this side by side with Guerlain L'eau Boisée and find the Guerlain to have better sillage, longevity, and, subjectively, prefer its vetiver and lime composition to the Dior.

This is my favorite version of vetiver Ive smelt. Its not that bitter, dark, damp vetiver like in Encre Noir and Sycomore. Its an electric green, almost marijuana smelling vetiver. The hint of coffee in this is what really shapes this vetiver and keeps it from being like all the others. The coffee adds a hint of dark-sharpness I believe. This cologne lasts a really long time like most vetivers do, but this one also happens to project extra well...and most other vetivers Ive smelt do not. This it the epitome of spring time. Dior can kiss my ass for discontinuing it.

This is a Vetiver I feel that if your not a vetiver fan that you will still like this. I'm not a vetiver fan, but this is a fresh yet a bit rough earthy vetiver note but that coffee note give this a edge that most vetiver fragrances don't have. Lots say the coffee isn't there or barely notice but if you take that note out I bet there would be a sinificant differece in change but on me I can get the dry roasted coffee note easily (lucky me). Guerlain Vetiver, Creeds Original Vetiver and this is IMO the top fresh clean vetivers out there.

Chanel Sycomore EDT vs Dior Vetiver: Chanel opens up with a cloud of aldehydes which actually quite fast fades away. It dries down to woody, quite smoky and earthy vetiver with a lot of dark nuances and a hint of incense in the background. Dior opens up with a sparkling, effervescent and fizzy load of citruses with a detectable green vetiver. While it dries down it gets woody and the citruses fades away. It is nowhere as smoky as the Chanel is. If you prefer darker vetiver, choose Chanel. If you prefer green vetiver, go for Dior.

To me, Dior Vetiver is the best vetiver based scent on the market bar none. I'm not wearing it often (I've no idea why), but when I do - oh boy, it delivers. A modern take on Guerlain Vetiver with a twist of spices, especially bitter coffee. It's quite simple as a scent, but I'm enjoying it as it is. I can say I love it. To be honest, no idea wether it is discontinued forever or not - in my opinion it's not, it's just produced in much lesser amount. My bottle, bought in 2021, was produced in 2018.

The "Coffee" Vetiver I find this one very similar to other "modern" interpretations of vetiver fragrances in that the main note is paired with other complimentary accords. In this case it's dark roasted coffee. The vetiver smells "nutty" and almost has a sweet aspect to it. I'm not sure if this is a "holy grail" of vetiver fragrances but I certainly like it. I think it's unique enough to own, and I've personally been complimented whilst wearing it! It's just a shame that it's discontinued.

Vetiver has been done to death, but this one is interesting. Although not particularly unique, in the first 30 minutes the coffee note here really conjures the texture of coffee for me. I'm not exactly sure why, but this smells the way that coffee feels in my hands. Beyond this though, this fragrance is redundant. Worth checking out if you haven't fallen in love with a vetiver yet, but even then this isn't the best - maybe top 8 or so. It really is just vetiver, nothing else.

I absolutely adore this fragrance. A quick burst of fresh citrus then it quickly settles down to its nature of of earth, grass and perhaps a little smoky, peat bog not dissimilar to a fine 16 year old Lagavulin Single Malt. It remains steadfast and singular in its offering however I have noticed a slight soapy development around hour 6 which is not unpleasant at all. I don't detect any coffee here but my nose is not very refined yet.

Just ordered a split of this today. Can't wait to get it. I've worn it twice since getting a sample of it. I have Tom Ford's Grey Vetiver and Creed's Original Vetiver. I look at it like this, I can wear Dior's Vetiver to a football game on a Saturday afternoon in the fall and wear Creed's Original Vetiver out on that Saturday night. Dior Vetiver is more raw Vetiver. Creed is more refined. Grey vetiver comes i third place.....to me.

I've been watching bottles of this exchanging at ridiculous prices in different fragrance groups, so i was very curious when i randomly received a small sample of it. Boy, what a disappointment. Very very simple, clean vetiver fragrance. Nothing complex or groundbreaking about this. People probably want to justify their purchase, because on a blind test, i would say that this is a $50 fragrance at best.

Confirmed information by several SAs of Dior: Vetiver is not and never was discontinued. Its production is now limited and distribution is limited to Paris boutique only. However each independent Dior boutique can get a bottle of Vetiver on customers' demand. That's exactly what I did. Same story with Eau Noire, Mitzah, Granville, Leather Oud and Cuir Cannage.

Most days I'm not particularly excited by the scent. But other days...man. It just comes across as sublime. I will agree with the reviews who recommend Dior Vetiver as a cold-weather vetiver. Where FM's Vetiver Extraordinaire is my go-to for the summer, Dior Vetiver I feel works better during the cooler days. But not too cold.

Pinacoss mate, you missed out, creed original vetiver, how you don't have this on your list I will never know, but anyway, I am waiting on a sample of this one and can't wait! Vetiver is one of my favourite notes! Still to find one that beats Chanel sycamore and Gucci intense oud

I also find that the vetiver sweetens up slightly in the drydown.Wholeheartedly agree with deeyork71 that Dior's interpretation is indeed a reference vetiver for both customers new to this ingredient and indeed other perfumers. Well done Dior for another well crafted gem.
