Les Creations de Monsieur Dior Eau Fraiche

This difficult to find EDT is a little confronting at first blast. Whoah...deep sludge green from the bottom of the swamp. If you don't like patchouli, avoid Eau Fraiche like the plague. Or like the Swamp Thang. BUT, for those of you like me who do like patchouli (and oak moss and vetiver and other grungy notes), please give this one time to develop. Within an hour I was smelling soft waves of mint - possibly from the patchouli - and rose from the rosewood and Petitgrain, which make this a far more rounded fragrance than the notes listed above suggest. Eau Fraiche really grew on me, so much so that my shopping companion today told me to stop sniffing myself in public. I'm sure you have all done the same thing. Haven't you? Please say yes. Anyway, I digress. If you can actually find Eau Fraiche in the first place, I recommend giving it a trial on skin, then being patient. It's worth the wait.

What a pleasant surprise this one is! (I blind bought an almost full bottle of an online second hand site.) Like a mix between original O de Lancome and Diorella, but with more sassiness. The citrus is natural and juicy, both sweet and soure and bitter. Petitgrain is giving it a bergamot like edge, and patchouli grounds it with mossy vibes. Absolutely unisex. Longevity is ok, but I keep reapplying since the opening is almost edibly good. So happy I gave this a chance. It is not your generic citrus cologne, it stands out in the crowd. Beautifully blended and unique although familiar all the same.

Smells very classy. Lime and oranges. One of my favorites from the line.

Les Creations de Monsieur Dior Eau Fraiche Dior is screaming gender neutral for me, it is well blends and strongly remind me of Green tea (?) It is no longer mossy (I tried Mitsouko before) this one smell like musk, begamot, clean airy patchouli and tea. This make me split in 2 opinions, - it is truly one of former self, if you sniff vintage Cologne you will know how mossy their are, but this one is not mossy at all. While 31 Rue Cambon almost replica true Chypre, this one can’t. It feels like almost but can’t - but it is do great being Colonge genre, fresh like citrusy classy green and cooling patchouli reminds me of Summer day and all the good thing. Clean and mildly powdery I find this one smell quite like dry down fougere fragrance. I do like it, might be a bit classy but it is really good. Mens who didn’t want to masculine scent like Eau Sauvage, can go with this just fine. 8/10 Bottle note! The spray head of this are removable and you can use in Splash manner! I notice that this creation contains oakmoss there this should consider chypre, fresh chypre to be determind. The patchouli + soft moss feel in this just right. Very enjoyable high quality chypre. I love this citrus bomb. I've been wearing it for the past month in the great August heat, and it never failed me. Surprisingly long lasting, this is what fresh is about. It's green, it's citrusy, and the Diorella vibes are a welcomed bonus. Up there with the greats in the Dior impressive line-up. *****

I bought a new bottle for 60% off retail. Fantastic. Chic. Easy but elegant. No nonsense. Classic. BLENDED! I might end up liking this more than Chanel 19 EDT. I'm a guy.

I do not like this scent at all. Too sharp and masculine for me. It's all because of patchouli. Most part of prominent patchouli in flagrancies goes wrong with me. I adore forever and ever but do not like at all Eau Fraiche. Is in my dislike category.

Delicate, slightly sour citrus and bitter green backed by a light patchouli and oakmoss base that endears me with unexpected depth. This is from 1955 but doesn't smell dated to me and although it's a women's perfume it is easily unisex. I'm reviewing the current formulation and haven't tried the vintage. It was made by Edmond Roudnitska who also did Diorella and Eau Sauvage and this one lands perfectly between the two; not as outright perfumey as Diorella and not as crisp/austere as Eau Sauvage. It has a full-bodied and complex character even though it is (on paper) a light and simple perfume; he is able to bring a rich life and character to it. It's mainly mandarin, petitgrain, and patchouli, but by Roudnitska's hand you get something remarkable. There are more notes in play here (people mention musks and vanilla) but nothing overpowers so it's hard to identify them individually, an endearing quality I enjoy in an abstract perfume that keeps you coming back to investigate but never fully reveals itself. There's something in particular I like about this one as opposed to another cologne or "Eau" and that is the perfume-y aura reminiscent of Diorella that prevents it from just being a refreshing citrus or mild chypre. The patchouli and oakmoss helps ground the scent and give it some legs that make it similar to other EDTs in duration but it doesn't dominate, it remains light and gentle. The sourness and herbs prevent it from being too polished and gives it a tinge of grit that adds depth though it never loses that soft perfume aspect and later settles to a plush, subtle, slightly powdery glow with remaining echoes of all the previous elements. I'm really pleased with this one, continuing my exploration of lighter, simple scents that retain an artistic flair I'm glad to have discovered such an old and relatively unknown one from Dior. The artistic tension here for me, as with Eau de Guerlain, is the simple made complex. It keeps me sniffing my arm as it never satisfies my curiosity for what's actually going on in the scent; I think it's expertly done.

So happy to be in Fragrantica! It is my very first review. I just received my Dior eau fraiche and I discovered it through fragrantica, since it is not available in Hong Kong, I brought in online from a department store from London which ships to Hong Kong lightening fast. I've been looking for the perfect unisex citrus perfume that represents me, I've already got Xerjoff Fiero 1881, Bottega Veneta Cipresso, Maison Dior Cologne Royale, Heeley Bell Clemente.... They are all good but most of them don't last long in warm and humid hk weather,and today I got this Dior Eau Fraiche, it is almost there! It is refreshing but not like cleaning products, it is very french, unisex definitely so maybe too masculine for the floral girls and too sensual for the executive guys, but just perfect for the art and fashion people. It lasts ok as a eau de cologne and perform better than the more expensive cologne royale. Eau fraiche reminds me of Chanel les exclusif Bel Respiro, I actually regretted buying it because the leathery smell is too strong, and it is super expensive! But the atmosphere in Chanel Boutique make everything look and smell so perfect, so it was actually an impulse buy. Eau fraiche is just like Bel Respiro without the strong leathery smell, the citrus freshness and classy floral is very similar, Bel Respiro is nice if you like leathery smell, and it lasts whole day! I am giving it to my friend who loves Chanel tomorrow. As for the bottle, it looks nostalgic in the picture, but it feels very light and plastic in my hands. The price is not high compare to my other perfumes, so I think it is woth trying if you like similar citrusy, fresh, french and unisex perfume.

I'm a guy and Eau Sauvage edt is my favourite fresh lemon cologne for decades. I don't know what Dior has done with the current formulation but it smells really sauer in the opening and the performance is very bad. So disappointed to see this happening with this citrus jewel. So accidently I smelled the Eau Fraiche and I fell in love! What a wonderful tingling juicy lemon mandarin opening with a very light earthy tone in the base. It reminds me of Eau Sauvage, Edmund Roudnitska is the perfumer for both, but this one sparkles and shines from top to base. Yes, it's less masculine, but I don't mind that at all. I have to add this to my collection before summer! What a gem!

I've tried this several times and every time I'm blown away by the initial citrus opening and beautiful tea filled dry down. I first tried this in a very beautiful perfumery where they had vintage bottles in display windows and current perfumes for sale. This one I kept coming back to, despite the rude sales assistant. I've not yet purchased it because its currently out of my price range but I'd love to own this one day. It may be 'Eau Fraiche' but it lasts so long and does so much more than the name suggests. Eau Fraiche happens to be an excellent choice for someone looking for an extraordinarily classy, understated and long lasting cologne. A chypre base takes off a prodigiously tuned and deceptively simple citrus composition by the great Edmond Roudnitska. The mandarin gives a sweeter vibe while lemon and moss dominate. The latter becomes present from the first sniff and persists until the fragrance evaporates completely. Unisex for sure. Extremely underrated. Top notch stuff.

lemon, lime, orange, mandarin and minty cooling notes on top, soft soapy patchouli mossy notes at the back. Classic chypre cologne type.

Unfortunately, this new formula smells like pipi on me. The original was my signature scent.

Citrusy, spicy and powdery. Smells very old school. It’s not bad, just not my cup of tea.
