Lucky Esprit De Parfum

Love this one so much. I've always liked Lucky but I felt that it was too light for me. I have other light, floral green perfumes already when I first smelled Lucky and couldn't justify paying for a full bottle. Too eau de toilette for a parfum -- and for the price! But Lucky was always something I would have considered when my other light green florals ran out. So, when I read about this re-imagination, I was keen to get my nose on this. I had the chance to do it two weeks ago. Upon the first spray, I knew I was in trouble. But I tested on paper and my skin. It had everything I liked about Lucky -- the floral greenness -- but grounded by a woodsy leather. I think this one is masterfully blended. So after 4 hours of wearing it on my skin, I bought a full bottle. It lasts all day, too. One to three sprays if you're going to be in a temperature-controlled environment should last you 8+ hours. I've worn this almost every day for the past two weeks -- and I have been loving it.

Very different from the original to me! But I can see where the cute orange cat is coming from as well 🔥 We still have the lily-of-the-valley inside Lucky Esprit, but I would say that Lucky EDP is the white little bud of the plant with dew drops on it; floral, wet, a bit indolic and fresh. Lucky Esprit is the stem of the flower; crunchy, green, almost a “fibre” texture is perceptive. Its like you bite into a raw stem of fennel to me. You have the vegetal juice, sweetness, a bit of saltiness and earthiness. The dry-down is quite sweet on my skin. But someone else had a woody dry-down on theirs. It does depend on your skin chemistry. I sprayed it in the morning then had a shower and I could still smell it in the evening. Its so much more performant than the original Lucky! Lucky edp is also not a fragrance made for “performance” in my opinion. Its supposed to be a secret lucky-charm. If performance is something that motivates you, you will love this new range.

I’m not too familiar with the original Lucky, but this new Esprit version is beautiful - like the morning sun basking its light onto a field of soft, dewy lily of the valley. It’s clean and elegant, whilst remaining perfectly simple and subtle in its beauty. This beautiful white flower, which does not naturally produce a raw material to use in perfumery, is ever so delicate in its aroma. It’s soft and soapy, like the gentle skin of a young woman, yet slightly green and stemmy, with dewy facets like yesterday’s rain settling on its drooping bells. The leather is almost non-existent to me, but I’m alright with that. It’s hard not to compare this to Diorissimo, which is arguably the greatest Lily of the valley scent ever created - this does not top it, but I don’t think anything ever would. Whilst this is lovely, for the difference in price I’d rather just stick with Diorissimo.

I genuinely don’t think I’ve ever smelled a fragrance this good. I do get similarities to Rouge Trafalgar Esprit and Coeur Battant, but Lucky Esprit surpasses both for me in every way. Compared to the original Lucky EDP, this one is denser, sweeter and less airy. The sweetness is elevated with a subtle fruity nuance (I smell a crisp green apple/pear) that makes it feel brighter and more addictive, yet bolder from the woods - while still maintaining the beautiful green, white floral DNA of Lucky. This is everything I love about the original, but richer, smoother and better for winter (It’s winter here where I live).

I think that the three notes are not the full picture. FOr me, I don't detect leather, but rather the juicy heart, similar to Rouge trafalgar esprit. I haven't compared them side by side, but this juicy part is to-die-for. I really like Lucky and I love the Lucky esprit as much. I might not even "need" rouge trafalgar now, as it is for my nose a 2-in-1 scent (lucky + rouge trafalgar heart). Give it a chance. p.s. the price level is crazy...but I still consider this being a unique scent.
