Eau d'Elide

My very first Diptyque and my very favourite one . I don't know the difference in smell and taste between a bitter orange and a sweet one. I just know that a bitter orange(Seville orange) is valued for its essential oils while a sweet orange is consumed as a fruit .All I can say about Eau d'Elide 's orange is I just want to eat it, not to drink a refreshing orange juice made of it .This is your "comfort food" orange . An orange for your dessert "Vanilla and brown sugar sprinkled orange" . It is not sickly sweet as a significant but subtle green accord is being brought by aromatic shrubs which are used for a decoration purpose , to make your orange more appealing . While you are eating your dessert , lavender is wrapping you up in a comfy blanket enabling you to forget about the world outside. Eau d'Elide is about creaminess and extreme warmth. This fragrance is obscure and controversial , that was probably a reason why it was discontinued . As for me It is a very intimate , "intellectually independent" fragrance , experienced in the depth of soul, in silence.

All I can say is OMG! I was lucky enough to procure a bottle off of ebay. The opening is fresh and bright. It quickly turns to a sweet creamy vanilla orange. Reminds me of a sweet smoother creamy Oyedo. Simply beautiful!

I love satyrs and fauns. I wanted to try this perfume because it had one on the bottle. What can I say? I'm a sucker for marketing. The scent of this perfume is very creamy, vanillic, and herbal. It's very unisex. On my skin I get vanilla liquer or syrup, and then a bunch of herbal notes. I don't smell any orange at all. It's hard to describe--all I can say is that it smells like Guerlain Jicky mixed with a vanilla puddin' pop. It also reminds me of people eating cheese danishes in a barber shop. It's odd and I like it.

Very well blended combination of scent. Smooth Exudes high quality When I put it on, my head immediately lights up with orange and violet colours. This is the only fragrance that does this to me. Definitely can be worn by male. Creates a good feeling.

A gorgeous pastel orange, vanillic creamsicle musk flavored with lavender and sweet herbs, Eau d'Elide is a fragrance of bliss and repose, smooth, soft and comforting, as if the satyr on its bottle is playing a gentle song with his pan flute. I really get a kick out of the illustration actually: his eyes have this indiscernible expression. Is he sorrowful? Joyful? Bemused? One thing is for certain: nice high cheekbones and square jaw, tiger. As it dries into the heart, the orange lingers as it intersects with the vanilla, rendering it from creamsicle to orange sponge cake, however musky and not quite edible. The lavender note seems to be derived from the deep, delicious, coumarin-heavy lavender absolute (if you have never smelled the absolute, it's dreamy). As I write this, "Angels and Demons at Play" by Bitchin Bajas plays in my headphones (give it a listen) and the feel of the music matches the texture of Eau d'Elide, meandering, echoing, flutes and distant percussion. Sadly, this was discontinued quite some time ago, around 2010 or 2011, and never lived on to see itself in one of the oval bottles. This 200ml splash is a treasure and I will keep it stored safely away from the elements to save it from oxidation so that I may revisit it for many years to come.

This is my go to summer scent. The lavender in this is sweet and rich, not medicinal, nor harsh at all. It is invigorating and soothing at the same time. The bitter orange accord really opens the scent up nicely, but does not stay too long. This keeps the scent from feeling too cologne-like, yet it helps to make the whole feel warm weather friendly. Usually I am not a huge fan of musks, but the musks in this scent just meld beautifully with the other notes and sweeten up the scent. The musk never becomes detergent like, just creamy. Now the real surprise here is the lavender. As I stated, it is a rich, almost sweet lavender. Almost like an English lavender is how I would describe it. It makes the scent refreshing and herbaceous, yet it does not come across as too masculine. I bemoan the fact that this scent is no longer produced, but there are still bottles to be found online. Well, for those willing to spend top dollar for a bottle.

Citrus Lavender vanilla musk Lovely composition, essentially a fougere structure of linalool over coumarin blended with heaps of vanillins and fluffy soapy floral musks until the underlying structure just barely peaks through, kind of like watching everything through a hazy translucent screen. Translating this to a more affable description, what you get is a very delicate sparkling lavender top before one big creamy musky base accord booms off the skin, delicate and powdery but deep enough and lush. Somewhere between retro soapy musky and unisex vanillic sweet. I get the feeling that the entire composition relied on various floral elements and heaps of linalool related compounds which are largely regulated now, so I doubt this is coming any time soon. The candle is great though, as the restrictions only loosely apply, highly recommended!

Sadly this fragrance doesnt work with my chemistry because all I smell is the bitter orange note. Which on me is not bitter at all, but very sweet. So sweet that it smells like an orange creamsicle on me. I get no musk, and no lavender at all. Oh well, I can say it has longevity. Good quality too.

Does anyone know if this is still in production? I've seen some murmurs that it's being sold at NYC and the original France Diptyque boutique. Another person claimed they bought a bottle at France duty free 6months ago

i was lucky enough to have several bottles of this gem, what makes me search for it is the art cover! it's the perfect creme brulee smell you will ever smell, comforting and peaceful

Nice lively, Eau d' Elide. Not a complete success but the mix of orange and lavender gives a very confident and sexy aura on the wearer, i think. Therefore i like it.

This gem came out before JPG’s Le Malle. Diptyque, please bring this back but don’t ruin it during reformulation.
