L'Eau Diptyque is the real Spicebomb. This fragrance is more of a medieval spice bomb, think potent cinnamon, harsh clove and a real earthy, minty geranium that just explode out of the sprayer. And the effect it is amazing!!!!!!!!! I think this is what a Gaul would spray under his chain maille. There is a real originality to this scent and a real crude beauty that exudes from this fragrance. Cinnamon, clove and geranium. One, two three boom!!!!! This spice explosion corkscrews and swirls until it reaches its' apex, all the while exuding the spicy essence of Big Red as well as the powerful scent of Red Hots and the tear inducing Atomic FireBall. This spice opening lasts and lasts and it is brilliant! Finally the spice is brought down a notch with the lush arrival of the rose and sandalwood. L Eau Dyptique then veers slightly soapy with the spice essence floating in and out. This is a classic fragrance that still packs a wallop of beauty and class during a wearing. Wow! Do not make the same mistake I made by leaving this on the shelf for too long! I wore this today on a slightly cool day and L Eau worked its' magic on me. L Eau Dyptique is what you get when you cross a Gaul warrior with Serge Gainsbourg; rough and crude on the outside but sexy and romantic on the inside. L Eau Dyptique is a real throwback and a beauty of a fragrance, it is potently romantic and soothing. I recommend this for the thirty and up crowd and it is very unisex. I gave this a spray when I was ready for a jaunt through Paris, cuffed jeans and Red Wing boots, L Eau smoothed over my rough edges and brought a real calm over me. Give this a spray when the weather says, "Gird your loins" but your destination says "Je t' aime,... moi non plus."

This is also the only "niche" fragrance I have ever physically gone to the store to purchase and paid full price for, which speaks to how much I enjoy it. It’s a rare occasion for me to splurge like that, but L'Eau made it worth it. Overall, I’d give it an 8/10—classic, comforting, and a little bit unexpected in its complexity, this one has definitely earned a permanent spot in my collection.

Unique, interesting and natural fragrance. It smell a bit loud in first few minutes, but it will calm down. You just need to bear with it (in case that you don't like it). First, it is all about cinnamon and rose, and a touch of clove. After 1 hour, the rose lose its strength and geranium start shining, which adds a powdery like smell to it. later, after about 4 hours, the powdery vibe will be omitted and a creamy scent -comes from sandalwood and cinnamon, added with a tiny clove in background- will remain. It's performance is decent. It stands 6-7 hours on my skin, and project well for 3-4 hours. After that it become skin scent. Or in other word, it goes to standby mode. When my body get warm (by activity or even by sunlight), the cinnamon gets alive again and make me feel blessed. I can't hide my grin on those times ..... It lasts longer and project better on fabric, but it will cost you losing its beautiful development...... L'eau by Diptyque is 100% unisex fragrance, for all people around the world who love cinnamon bread.

Update: Hang On... Those who likes this gem I can suggest them to layer with Diptyque L'autre in summer... its magic mannnn A true masterclass in the niche perfumery where uniqueness meets with elegance and sophistication. Do not make impression right after applying this; though it is worth-making but... most of the people get offensive with starting spicy blast. It mingles very well where clove, geranium and cinnamon which makes this so much to admire. During all the journey after application of this frag cloves flirting in tiny intervals ( sometimes disappear and then again starting its significance). I also smelled ginger so many times though it is not the added note. Overall one of the classics and mature fragrance from one and only DIPTYQUE and in my opinion the age of wearing this is above 35. ONE OF THE FINEST MALE FRAGRANCE TO APPLY IN COOLER WEATHER

This is a wild take-on “eau”, a brave affirmation of creativity from a time when correctness was far less important than truth. It isn’t just fresh, it is also severe, it isn’t just genderless, it is anthropoid, it is intricate. Complexity is beautiful in the sense that it is always more humanistic? Love it for its raw spiciness-brown-greenish-transparency. Cinnamon and geranium married... it remains superior to all things Diptyque made after, and there are certainly a few very good ones. As a cabinet-curiosity house, Diptyque did good in keeping this odd piece, which now stands out from the boredom-filled shelves of fragrances money can buy. (or not so literally, as this Eau is only sold online nowadays maybe?!) Buy one before they kill it.

I walked into a diptyque store in search of a tea scent and the worker introduced to me a couple tea like scents that I liked but when she presented me this scent, she and I both knew this was it. Tea fragrances are hard to get right as it’s an interpretation most of the time but what I enjoyed much about this fragrance is it like smelling raw tea. It brings me to nostalgia as I smell lots of spices that brings memories of the cinnamon scented potpourri of my childhood home, making a chai tea or some spicy tea when I’m down and a nice cozy blanket. She gave me a sample and smelling it again, I still feel the same. I will most likely pick up a bottle when I can.

I really think this is one you need to try a few times and give a chance. I received this as a free sample when I purchased a different perfume from the same brand. The first spray I immediately felt disgusted and wanted to rinse it off with soap and water. One week later and I am about to purchase a bottle. It starts off with an extreme blast of cinnamon not unlike a cinnamon flavored candy, but it very quickly mellows out into a very complex scent. This has become my favorite scent very quickly.

Refined, vintage, gorgeous. I have no words to describe it. If you want to smell like a gentleman from times when the word still meant something, you still have one of the rare chances with L’Eau. Not dated at all, but miles away from today’s ugly perfumery, therefore unique and special. I do not get candy references, it is not sweet at all. French perfumery at its best!

When I wear L’eau I’m quickly reminded of Thrills - that purple gum that tastes like soap😛! L’eau is an enchanting fresh “out of the shower” scent with some of the sweetness coming from the cloves. It’s regal, polarising and possibly more on the masculine side but I love a clean fresh scent and I love how this wears on me. I definitely feel posh when I wear this.

A magnificent cinnamon-cloves scent!! Long lasting, festive, luxurious, unusual, bold and definitely statement-making! Unique... It smells very very natural, quite strong, and stays true to the original impression for hours on end! I'd say 84 € for 100ml isn't expensive, with such lasting power! One of the very best and uttterly original scents i have....

This is more that cinnamon pine cone/ cinnamon broom scent you get on stores around Christmas. I love it! lol The dry down is amazing! It goes to a cinnamon and incense vintage store vibe. This is one you can’t judge from the beginning. You need to wear it and smell it after 15-20min. Perfect winter holiday cozy scent.

This is the scent of an elegant, mature gentleman's bathroom as he grooms himself for an evening out - the hot shower steam dispersing the aromas of expensive spicy bar soap, shaving cream, and a hint of toothpaste through the air. Understated class, and oddly comforting.

perfect christmas scent. cinnamon and cloves feel charred and baked in a comforting holiday way. delicious smokiness and spice that is so inviting. i think it's totally unisex.

Cinnamon and clove in the beginning but later on a beautiful comfortable spicy and a little soapy and clean scent. Gorgeous!

This fragrance and me were born the same year... I've a special feeling with this incredible spicy masterpiece!

This is another of my lockdown samples. And yes, this is a spicy fragrance if there ever was one. What may be throwing some people off here, really is the opening phase. It definitely is one of those fragrances that kicks open the door with a loud obnoxious bang, maybe thereby giving off a first impression that tempers with its later perception. For me the opening starts with a blast of sparkly, prickly spice soda. I know this fragrance is based around clove and cinnamon, but in India there is a soda called Jeeru, a modern take on the traditional drink Jal-Jeera. It’s a drink generally made of cumin seeds, pepper, ginger, rock salt and lime, that’s consumed for digestive purposes. So there is a medicinal character to it. I’m not saying the opening smells exactly like it, but the first few minutes the way it prickles at the back of your nose sure is very reminiscent of it. Even if there are no citrus notes listed, this does contain limonene, linalool, citronellol and citral, so I don’t think the initial association with soda comes all that far out of the blue. After about half an hour the ‘fizz’ settles down and the cinnamon becomes more dominant. Maybe that’s where it reminds people of cinnamon based candy or gum. The final dry down for me is a very luxurious yet natural, high quality, almost creamy blend of soft cinnamon, clove, and sandalwood. Personally I could have sworn there is a vanilla note to it as well. Well, according to the ingredients they did use coumarin which does have a scent of vanilla to it. Also, I do not find the clove note overwhelming, while usually I’m not a big fan of that note at all. I think somebody else already said it, this smells like a very expensive classic spice soap. The vibe to me is that of somebody well-groomed and dressed in classic timeless clothing – somebody else here said ‘festive’ and I agree. I wouldn’t be surprised at all to catch a whiff of this on entering a reading room in some old club, where it will seamlessly merge with the smell of old leather bound books and dark wooden furniture. To me this fits best with cooler weather and is easily unisex. Age group: 30 or maybe even 40+. As it is clearly quite polarizing I would not recommend a blind buy. Personally I’m not quite ready for pure spice fragrances (yet), so I would not purchase a full bottle. But how I wish there was a soap or moisturizer with the same fragrance. Diptyque has become one of my most favorite and respected houses. All of their offerings are extremely well blended but always keep a very natural vibe about them. And with their very generous sample policy – in the Berlin Boutique where I mostly shop for their fragrances, the last time I ended up having to refuse samples, cause I just already had so many of them – they make it very easy to get to know their range. Can’t say it any other way, I’m a fan.

I think I will change my picture from the hummingbird moth to Godzilla. Lately I seem to be able to wear heavier scents, whether they are foral or spicy (just for the record, Opium, Poison, Shalimar and Mitsouko still don't like me). I tried a sample of L'Eau (purchased from Lucky Scent, thank goodness, because I can't test it otherwise) yesterday, and yes, this big spicy clove/cinnamon potion has befriended me. It does teeter between "potpourri sachet" and "wow, what is that incredible smell, is Queen Elizabeth from the Renaissance Faire in the room?" I enjoy reading about the Middle Ages and Renaissance periods, and as a result felt I needed to try this historical-based interpretation of something you might smell not necesssarily on a person of that time, but rather of what their house, and ambient surroundings might smell like. This scent would saturate everything, not just one's skin. I like L'Eau and plan to have it (for history's sake if nothing else), and what really sold me on it was I chose to wear it on a warm, humid day and felt it come alive; it was as if I was transported to a manor home from the 1500s and the lady of the house was giving me a tour, and whenever her skirts moved, you would smell this lovely perfume. L'Eau quieted down on me after about four hours, and there was more sweetness mingling with the clove and other spices as it became more of a skin scent. I love this period of history and this fragrance (happily) is compatible with me, and I get to have lovely Medieval tapestry-like images floating in my imagination while I'm wearing it!

Olfactive Diary Entry #48 As a massive Diptyque fan, I've sampled almost all of their perfumes over the years, but none of the stores I've been to have carried L'Eau in their line-up. So I was thrilled to discover this gem from 1968 at my local Diptyque store, immediately drawn to it by its understated name and haunting artwork. L'Eau initially starts off as a blast of a Coca-Cola-like, gingery concoction. It's bright, warm, and herbal, yet not fully medicinal. As it dries down, L'Eau loses a lot of its original punchiness. The top notes fade away, the scent softens, and turns soapy. It's clean, friendly, and romantic. The mental image that comes to me when I smell it is that of hugging a loved one in a fuzzy sweater. Well, maybe not of the hug itself, but of the memory of that hug, as if it's evoking a nostalgic memory of total comfort. I truly appreciate that Diptyque still carries this one in their line-up, and I understand why. It has aged incredibly well. It could just as well be a contemporary fragrance with a slight vintage touch. But knowing its age, one can find parallels to the late-60s era that gave birth to it: it's a bohemian, romantic fragrance with an understated ease.

I'm not fond of playing into the gender binary, so I will preface this review by acknowledging that society strongly influences what we consider to be "masculine" and "feminine", and one way it does this is through clever marketing. I strongly believe that ANYONE should be able to wear ANY fragrance without shame. I don't feel that there are any rules when it comes to fragrance, although the associations we have for certain types of scents are difficult or nearly impossible to transcend. Understanding how my scent associations came to be, this fragrance just evokes "classy, impeccably groomed man" - the aromatic combination of fine, handcrafted soap, rich shaving cream, light sandalwood aftershave, and a hint of toothpaste - all the GOOD smells of a washroom before an elegant night out. This is unique, clean, timeless, understated, unpretentious sophistication, but very sexy because of those things, rather than in spite of them. There would be absolutely nothing wrong with a woman wearing this, but it's personally too masculine for me.

Sono un po' in difficoltà perché non riesco a capire se mi piace o no. L'ho comprato principalmente per curiosità perché qui non si trova e non avevo modo di sentirlo. Ho testato il campioncino 2-3 giorni. Sento tanto le spezie: cannella ma, ancor di più, chiodi di garofano. In apertura sento una leggera nota di limone che poi svanisce (ma forse ma la sono immaginata). Queste spezie le associo al freddo, ai dolci natalizi, sebbene questa fragranza non ha nulla di dolce, niente vaniglia, pertanto non aspettatevi l'odore di biscotti. Quindi mi domando: voglio davvero odorare di chiodi di garofano e cannella? Ieri ho incontrato un'amica che mi chiede: "cos'è questa puzza di cannella?" ero io. C'è da dire che alla mia amica non piace la cannella. A me piace in autunno e inverno, ma in genere accendo una candela profumata... Sulla mia pelle dura circa 3-4 ore, non ha una grande proiezione, ma forse proprio per questo me lo terrò, anche perché non ho un profumo simile in collezione.

The cloves really dominate. When I was young, cloves were considered a good treatment for toothache. The clove spice was put in a little cheesecloth bag which you held in your mouth against the sore tooth. This perfume brings me right back to that moment (without the pain, thankfully!), and so to me it smells very clean and healthy. It seems to "clear the air" of any pestilence around me, which is a very medieval idea (strong spices were also used inside the masks worn by doctors dealing with the plague, in the mistaken belief that they prevented transmission of the disease). It's a strange scent, and I agree that any flowers there are completely overwhelmed by the spices. Having said that, I like it a lot and it is lasting very well on me. It's a true unisex, since there isn't musk or other really "male" scents in with the spices - I think this could be worn by a confident man or woman who didn't want to smell like anyone else.

Ok, so I stand corrected. Maybe it's because the cooler temperatures recently, but I now have actually purchased a full sized bottle of this edt. I was wrong, oh so wrong. This is an acquired taste, but once you can see the beauty of this gem, it'll haunt you. So warm and spicy without being sweet. It's perfect. Doesn't last as long as I'd like, isn't up there with my Cinnabar, Opium and Youth-Dew but shines so brightly in its own right. It smells so classy, so expensive and yet is something elusive and not quite recognizable. I can see the medieval potpourri reference. I like scents like that. Love to combine with a walk-through mist of 34 Black for a more modern twist or with Agraria Bitter Orange. I truly misjudged this and am taking advantage of the cooler dry temps here in Florida to fully and lovingly embrace this classic. Thank you, Diptyque Boutique in Bal Harbour/Miami!

Oh, yes, it opens with cinnamon, but soon the clove appears and it's so strong and spicy, that you have to love this note to enjoy this perfume. My relationship with clove are not set yet, so I'm excited to see how it works. So far it's just ultra spicy, bitter and strong clove i'm getting. It's almost medical and I bet no vampire would come near me :D. It has a silage that might kill other people around if applied in large amounts and tiny rooms :) I'm actually a little bit disapointed, by now it's only clove, it's been 20 minutes and I still don't get any flowers or warmness of sandalwood I expect so much. I do love cinnamon so I'm very happy when it reappears after leting clove scream out loud. It's an hour and still no flowers. Just spices. Makes me sad. Not for me, but for a spice/clove/cinnamon lover this could be the best stuff ever.

definitely a fragrance for maturer people (my mom digs this scent and asked me to share it with her lmao) i love it so much but it's just not an everyday fragrance for me. i can only really wear it out in the fall/winter because i feel like this scent almost turns sour (literally) when it mixes with my sweat in the summer. it's a little too "festive" for the summer imo. dry down is definitely high-class men's shaving cream vibes, like many have mentioned. i love it though! idk why i love smelling like an old man but i'll rock it i guess B) only complaint is it doesn't last very long - usually after 2-4hrs it's gone :/ i always spray on a bunch so it's super strong and in-your-face cinnamon at first but no matter how much i put on it still ends up disappearing after 2-4hrs :(

Timeless. But not in the sense of smelling like a classic perfume. Rather, it smells medieval, like it predates even the concept of perfume. It smells like what i imagine an ancient apothecary might smell like. Jars of spices lining wooden shelves. Tinctures and ointments to guard against bad humors and consumption. Teas made of something spicy and something floral and something from the small herb garden grown where the cat can't reach it. Gothic without the postmodern baggage. Spicy without being synthetic. Evocative of potpourri without smelling like a midwestern living room. This is the perfect example of a perfume looking for a wearer. If this is your thing, you'll know it the instant you smell it. More fragrances should aspire to such uniqueness.

I'm going to have to agree with Housebliss on this one. After about 3 hours, it smelled decent, but the initial blast of cinnamon is just too much for me. I enjoy cinnamon's presence, but this smells like a thick layer of kitchen cinnamon floating atop the rest of the fragrance. Without looking at the notes, I ordered a sample and assumed since I LOVE Estée Lauder Cinnabar, I'd love this. Oranges and apples; the two cannot even be compared as the ingredients vary. Perhaps my nose is not fully developed to appreciate this. I'll stick with my Volutes, 34 St. Germain and Oud Palao. Not for me.

L'Eau was my first introduction to Diptyque and after experiencing this I have continued to purchase many more from them and never looked back. To me they can never do a bad fragrance. Not being a big fan of cloves I was surprised once I found out what notes were in L'Eau but perhaps the cinnamon had something to do with my liking it as I am a lover of cinnamon. These two notes dominate and overpower whatever rose should be there and only let it be known after they have stolen the limelight for a while but I forgive them. This one is a keeper for me.

Yeah, it’s a little like potpourri but there’s also the undercurrent of clean fresh rosey florals with a bit of soap. It’s a complex fragrances that starts off very spicy and almost masculine but then becomes a more unisex, floral fragrance. I really like it, it’s complex and old fashioned but also works in the modern perfume landscape.

Clove dominates this fragrance. Oddly and surprisingly enough, despite the ultra powerful combo of clove and cinnamon, rose is able to pick its head through from time to time. However, as long as you try to see where it is, the rose note is then gone again, waiting for its next ambush.

At first this is a citrus blast on my skin. Then comes the clove (not cinnamon) In the end Wrigleys Juicy Fruit gum came to my mind :)

bought this impulsively on a whim when I visited france, and I wish I could learn to love it more. although typically I love cinnamon scents, be warned that the cloves dominate this fragrance profile once it dries down and it begins to smell very after-shavey. definitely a masculine leaning scent, spicy, warm and clean yet a little nauseating all at once. i tried it on my skin in the summer and was repulsed, i'll have to try again this winter to give it another chance. prepare yourself for a strong cinnamon opening, and if you're hoping it's a gourmand cinnamon, try elsewhere -- this is a Diptyque fragrance and so it's a spicebomb like no other.

Pure clove and cinnamon with a hint of rose, too masculine for my taste. definitely a winter-holidays scent. I blind bought this scent and realized it’s not my type. I ended up selling it.

I first sprayed this on at a perfume store, thinking it was Diptyque Eau Duelle, and was instantly horrified. It opens with an incredibly strong note of cinnamon, in fact I can smell little else. On the bus ride home I started to feel Ill and hoped I wasn't interrupting the people around me. This opinion is on a a background of loving diptyque fragrances and I was so shocked, that I instantly looked up the reviews on fragrantica. I was even more shocked that it had received so many good reviews! Anyway, after a while stuck on the bus, unable to find anything to help me wash it off, the scent settled down and became more creamy. The dry down was actually reasonably pleasant albeit a tad odd. It still smells strongly of cinnamon and some say it's a bit woody, to me it smelled quite festive and I could see a potential place for it in my life. Even though I started to like L'eau, the opening is a massive negative and I cannot wait that long for a perfume to become wearable. If it works on you then you're lucky, but it's not for me.

Initial whiff was overpowered by cinnamon. It's so strong that it's difficult to detect other notes, since it takes over. A bit like aftershave, though totally unisex. Very spicy, but to me it's a cold spicy, not warm. It also smells very much like those tree-shaped artificial car fresheners that I dislike very much. I'm not sure I'd want to smell this on anyone, but then again I am not a fan of cinnamon unless it's the real deal (Ceylon cinnamon for cooking).

Amazing after 4 hours. The first 2-3 hours however....the most foul-smelling stench I've had the displeasure of smelling. It does smell like Big Red chewing gum at first. It smells like Big Red doused in cherry flavored cough syrup. I was so mad after I sprayed my hand I couldn't see straight. Very good longevity and sillage goddamnit! Personal opinion of course, but I hate it. The drydown didn't save it.

Sophisticated heavy Clove and Geranium...even a bot Leather. Very European and Italian to me. Quite Male and so perfect for Winter. I purchased a 3.4 Oz On a Whim and am open to a trade or swap. Message me.

The cloves and cinnamon note are the leading in this fragrance, but the sandalwood base is also noticeable. But I can't say that this fragrance is intensive enough. I'm not impressed by it.

The sandalwood was so strong on me that it took over the whole fragrance -- maybe just my chemistry.

Smells exactly like those cinnamon pine cones you see at the grocery store around Christmas.

This opens with a powerful waft of lumberyard - an old one, with ivy up the walls and tough old red geraniums planted near the office, the scent of their respective crushed leaves battling with the smell of various freshly sawn woods. Sadly, since ivy and geranium are amongst my least favorite leaf notes, this did not work well for me. It was a strong and somewhat nauseating start to a perfume I had been looking forward to trying. You would not want to start the morning with this if you were hungover or pregnant. The opening is so far removed from the body of the perfume as to be a separate entity entirely. As it settles, this fragrance sweetens considerably and there is a distinct sweet musk accord amongst faint cinnamon, pronounced carnation (NOT clove), soap and woods - although not sandalwood specifically. It becomes much less challenging as it develops, although the sillage remains good. This perfume is distinctive - having tried it once, I will recognize it forever - and it is perfectly unisex. The overall effect carries a decided 'expensive' quality to it - no-one will ever think you are wearing a cheap perfume with this one. But whether it is actually an enjoyable experience is a question to be answered by the wearer... :-) Incidentally - The notes I got from this scent varied significantly from those listed, to the extent that I went back and checked my sample to make sure the right spray was in the right box. It was, and as it is a new, official, Diptyque sample I have no reason to doubt that it is the correct perfume.

**From 2015** L'Eau is magical. All at once it exudes cryptic medieval mystery, Victorian sentiment, and 60's rich hippie rock star ambiance. It's a blunt clove potpourri fragrance that was clearly the inspiration for the original Commes des Garcons, but look closer:as time goes on, a green, wet patchouli chypre becomes more apparent under the spices. Do not let the first impression of cheap citrus-spice toilet water fool you: L'Eau is a case in which the outstanding quality of ingredients transforms the whole enterprise. It lasts forever and smells wonderful with cigarettes. As with CdG, be prepared to withstand a lot of critcism for your fragrance choice, as everyone will say you smell like Christmas. Tell them that they are wrong, and that you actually smell like Marianne Faithfull and Mick Jagger on a trip to Tangier in 1968, which is the truth.

As we advance into November and the New England trees begin to become bare, I feel the symptoms of seasonal affective disorder set in, knowing this truth and that it will last until the days lengthen once more in January. It is all the more important for me to reach for fragrances that lift my mood, warm and soothe me. It's time for me to wear L'Eau just like it's time for me to drink tea and wear sweaters and warm woolen socks. I wear L'Eau when the frost forms and the holidays approach. The cinnamon and geranium in the opening are sparkly, and the cloves and woods in the dry down are as comforting as a snuggle by the fireplace. Another example of how early Diptyques are so naturalistic and classically attractive.

Holy-Moly : What a well made Oriental-Chypre!, totally clean, unsweetened rose petals dirtied by some cinnamon,cloves and cumin, fabulous - i'd rate Lumiere Noire Pour Homme probably the best rose based fragrance for men (ye, better than Le Labo's Rose 31) - this probably qualify as it's summer incarnation, it's lighter with moderate sillage but good longevity, the geranium softens the oriental blow a tad bit which makes it perfect for the climate in Malaysia..just can't praise this enough 7.5/10.

I am a cinnamon lover and had heard about this for a while but it’s hard to get in Australia. I was just in Hong Kong and bought a bottle without hesitation and i love it. The cinnamon is super big at the top, but bright and fresh, almost like its carried by the smell of a ginger root snapped in half. Over time, it has a floral mood and then it smells like you showered with woody, cinnamon-y soap. Lasts longer on me than most Diptyques.

Oh my goodness. I sprayed on a generous amount of this after opening the bottle. I got flower candle, really strong, then a strong smell of potpourri in the home goods section of a department store and finally a spicy sort of candle. Again, this did not smell like anything a human should wear. I wouldn't even want a candle with this smell. Ugh! I'm glad this smells nice on a lot of people but it was definitely not me.

Cinnamon and clove potpurri! I always think of cinnamon and clove as warm, sweet, gourmand, but this is a photorealistic/fresh woody take on them. When I spray it on paper, it smells woody and fresh, but on skin it because warm and soft. To me, this brings me to christmastime. Greek traditional christmas cookies are soaked in a cinnamon clove and orange syrup, and that is what this fragrance evokes :)

Initial spray is PUNGENT CINNAMON. You know those red color cinnamon hard candies? That is all I could smell. Nothing was even trying to compete with the cinnamon. The dry down surprisingly calms down quite a bit. Some spiciness starts to peek through. And of course, since it's Diptyque, the ingredients smell very fresh and realistic. I quite enjoyed the dry down, but it's still not fbw for me.

The cinnamon is the most dominant note from the opening until the last phase. Cloves makes the scent spicy, the geranium is hiding behind these notes, I can hardly detect it. The aroma of sandalwood makes complete and finish the accord...after few hours just a creamy cinnamon breath left on my skin. I agree, this scent is not for everyone.
