Divine

For those of you who are wondering how to get your hands on this fragrance, google Divine Fragrances France (I can’t add a hyperlink to this comment). This was such a blast from the past for me, I immediately felt comfortable wearing it, as though it were made for my skin. If you’ve experienced and loved those big chypre florals from the ‘80’s, you’ll feel right at home with this one. I can see the connection to Ysatis and Jil No. 4, but throw in a splash of Annick Goutal Passion, and that is Divine. I wore this two days in a row, something I rarely do - in fact I found it intensely addictive. Longevity isn’t bad, but it’s not a beast. It also has presence and projects well, strong and elegant. This company really delivers on great customer service. Firstly, it’s a real pain to get some sites to ship to Australia, so I was really impressed that they could accommodate that request and offer free shipping if you spend €160 or more. They also allow you to select two free samples. The box was nicely packaged and included a handwritten note thanking me for my patronage. I bought three from the range, this is the first one I have tried and if I manage to extract myself from its clutches, I will comment on the other two. I chose the 50 ml travel sprays because to be honest I couldn’t be fussed with decanting from a splash, nor using those strange bulb sprayers which I have found to be ineffective (especially on some of the Guerlain bottles). Having said that, they threw in three little gold funnels, presumably in case I want to buy a splash in the future to decant into the travel case. I totally recommend this as a great choice for those of us who love this big style of fragrance, not a safe blind buy for the faint hearted nor sweet fragrance lovers.

I was recommended this perfume when I asked for tuberose chypre suggestions in a forum recently. I had never heard of this house before then, but Divine is a small niche French brand that has been in operation since the 1980s - long before niche perfume became mainstream. I bought their discovery set that includes this, their namesake perfume, and it has proven itself to be a beautiful recommendation. Divine is from the 1980s, and is of its era but timeless, reminiscent in parts of contemporaries like Ysatis and 24 Faubourg. Divine opens with a beautiful, lush tuberose note that is smooth, sweet and creamy. Juicy peach adds sweetness up top. It becomes a little bubblegum-like as it develops, with smooth gardenia rounding it out. A nice spicy undertone emerges, completely it beautifully. Powdery rose follows, adding to the bouquet, and powdery, slightly indolic jasmine adds a hint of dirt and body to the white florals. The mossy chypre base slowly develops in the background, grounding the bold white florals to perfection. The oakmoss here is delicious. The orange blossom is surprisingly muted, adding some fruity sweetness that follows the peach. Patchouli adds to the chypre accord, and sandalwood is detectable in the later stages, smooth and dry, a perfect addition. It becomes musky as it fades, tying everything together beautifully. It is softly animalic here. Sillage is moderate and longevity is long-lasting. It is a feminine, transeasonal scent that can be worn day or night. Divine is a beautiful, old-world scent that delivers vintage-style glamour in spades while remaining timeless enough for a modern audience. A high-quality tuberose chypre, this is exactly what I was looking for. It lives up to its name. 4.5/5.

C'est un des trois parfums Divine qui m'a été offert. Et c'est tout simplement magnifique !! Sur ma peau c'est presque un soliflore Gardénia mais quel gardénia !!! Whaou !!! La classe !!! La grande classe !!! Et même la très grande classe !!! Mais j'ai dit presque parce que la tubéreuse a son mot à dire ici qui donne un côté langoureux. Le gardénia a déjà un côté langoureux me direz vous et vous aurez raison mais là, les choses sont plus chaudes genre nuit d'été dans un jardin. Ainsi que les épices douces qui sont elles aussi superbes !!! Pour une fois un parfumeur n'a pas mélanger la tubéreuse avec l'ylang-ylang qui à mon avis n'apporte rien à la tubéreuse et peut même la desservir (je n'ai rien contre l'ylang-ylang ;o) Sans oublier la mousse de chêne qui se détache tout en jouant un rôle mineur mais bien présente. Divine est digne des plus grands parfums de niche. Vous ne le sentirez pas sur une autre peau même si à un moment on a l'impression de reconnaître Faubourg 24 d'Hermès ou encore le Gardénia d'Isabey mais ça n'engage que moi. Divine, divin parfum...

Divine is a beautiful, somewhat old-fashioned, abstract floral, in shades of shimmering silver-pink. I get a lot of summery orange blossom in particular, but mostly the effect is “perfume” — angelic, soaring, dressed-up radiance. The tuberose really takes its time coming out, and adds another dimension of harmonious softness, like pearly cumulus clouds. Divine is in the aldehydic-floral zone that often feels too formal for me to wear on anything but a special occasion — the same genre as Chanel #5, Van Cleef & Arpels First, Arpege, etc. It’s little more modern than those classics, though — more than anything else, it gives me the impression of shining rays of light. As traditional aldehydic florals go, Divine is on the cool, gauzy side, even a bit aloof. Nothing but pure flower petals and “airiness” all the way down. Ingrid Bergman meets Glinda the Good Witch.

I've only recently tried Divine, but I'm hooked. It's just the kind of fragrance I like -- a bold, bright floriental, which is not surprising, as it was released in the 80s. It reminds me quite a bit of my beloved Ysatis. It's almost as though someone took Ysatis and removed much of the chypre/oakmoss notes, and amped up the tuberose. Sillage and lasting power are excellent. This fragrance smells, to me, as though it is largely composed of natural floral extracts; it doesn't have that "synthetic" vibe that so many newer fragrances do. It's floral without being overpowering; sweet without being sickening. Overall, the effect is classic, ladylike and elegant, and I look forward to owning a bottle someday. I just wish it were easier to find in the U.S.

Je reviens sur ce parfum magnifique pour dire que c'est un véritable parfum de peau dans le sens où il change selon votre humeur, selon la température du lieu ou vous vous trouvez, de beaucoup de facteurs... Du magnifique gardénia de ma première aspersion je découvre aux fils de mes usages de l'eau de parfum une mousse de chêne superbe associée à la pêche et une rose fine et délicate, les épices douces assagissent son côté chypre mais la coriandre asssociée au patchouli lui redonnent un côté fougère/chypre exceptionnel !! Parfum multi facettes où l'on ne s'ennuie pas une seule seconde !!! Sans compter sa longévité sur le corps et les vêtements vraiment remarquable !

I was walking somewhere in a hurry in Paris and passed by a perfume store. I kept walking but some scent caught my attention. It was raining and pretty cold and I was running late but I had to turn back and come to the store. It was Divine. And I couldn’t leave without that beautiful bottle. Since that time I’ve purchased already 2-3 bottles including travel sets. Some people compliment me on it. Some people say it’s very old and unpleasant. My friend said oh you have so many perfumes why do you use this old lady smell? 😆 I don’t care, I love it. ❤️

This is the Chypre with floral hints I have been loking for. What a delicious gem this is indeed! All of them good reviews are the truth. This is beautifull, classy, floral with a bit sweetness, lady like scent. If You love chypre florals, aldehydes etc "old schoolish" You need to give a try for this. And Divine sell at their own webpages samples in very reasonable price, people go to look at.. . They have many other good ones too.. need to sample them first. This was love for fist sight and straight purchase. ***<3<3<3***

Now at first this is truly a divine scent, I can hear Nina Samone singing "my baby just cares for me" when I smell this beauty.. The gardenia and tuberose are so beautiful and creamy and it stays that way for sometime... the rose is slightly detectable to my nose but I don't get any peach, nor do I get any of the spices. I remember why I loved it at first....But sadly now I remember why I don't reach for it as much. Its the longevity and silage, it is week, closer to the skin on me and lasting power maybe 3 hours...

A well kept secret, this one. A superb floral with animalic notes, musky and smelling like something ten times the price. This is the kind of rose I like - sweet, not overdone, just part of a lovely composition. Creamy and beautiful, nothing cheap about this and no horrid chemical soup - after one sample I was hooked, and I was delighted to find a bottle. Bliss! 10/10 Update: on repeated wearing, I've realised it's the tuberose which has me hooked. It's creamy yet dries down powdery. Very skillful. *loves*

This sounds incredible and I am searching for this but cannot find. Please does anyone know where I can find this? Help. Okay, I ordered off Luckyscent. I am hoping this is the same, they had different ingredients, not really different but not the same. Wish me luck. Thanks saintlunaire I will also try there. I did order this from Divine.fr and it is everything that it looks like sweet & powerful. This suits it name it is divine.

This is Complicated. French. Perfume. I don't know what Luca Turin was thinking when he called Divine "buttery". It is in fact nose-singeingly aldehydic. This is not a criticism! If you grew up smelling aldehydes and animalic musk and layers of notes so woody and spicy and dense they almost require fighting through, you will love this perfume. Pure love from me.

aldehydes, musk, tuberose with some rose, jasmine and gardenia that register a bit like hyacinth; very vintage; touch of oakmoss to keep this from one of those headache-inducing white florals and a touch of sandalwood; the musk is big; the aldehydes are big; the tuberose is sharp rather than creamy; love this one, anyone want to swap or sell a bottle?

For me this is a Jil Sander no4 clone, it's beautiful, I don't know who came first, but we know who create this, but not who creates Jil no4 which came later in time, still a mystery for me,this is really gorgeous.

Difficult to find more sensual and classy for a woman. Extraordinary refined sillage. A very good confidential parfume.

I have just become a happy owner of this gem and my first impression is that it is indeed a classy perfume which makes you think of old, monumental mansions, beautiful ladies (be it in the 1950s or 1990s or now - doesn't matter), high heels and big hats - all that is the synonime of luxury. The most amazing thing is that this scent has absolutely nothing artificially smelling in it - even the aldehydes (artificial by definition) are in place. I got this as I desperately wanted a replacement for my long lost love - Moments. Well, there is some resemblance but insufficient IMO. Moments is an ingenuous maistream American/German thing while Divine is a French classic - different category, different planet, different universe. I also craved for something of 24 Farbourg category and this one is probably the most noble representative I could imagine. What I slightly dislike about Divine is the animalic base note - but luckily I don't detect it at all times - the tuberouse it dominant here. I will surely be pleased to wear it on some elegant outdoor occasions. ONE BIG DRAWBACK - IT IS A SPLASH, NOT A VAPORISATEUR!!! Update: It smells ALL DAY LONG despite being applied with an eye-drippy-thing, not a vapo or a spray. AMAZING!

Lovely, but not fabulous. This is the second Divine fragrance I've worn from my handful of samples. I've sprayed it generously for an immersive experience which I'm enjoying, but not swooning over. It opens with a beautiful blast of peach-infused green from coriander - no aldehydes in the notes and I don't detect it at all - and within seconds tuberose emerges and engulfs the fruity-green in a warm, white cloud. This is a subtle tuberose, not at all a big 80's floral. Orange blossom, jasmine and gardenia combine for a classic and quintessentially french floral accord. The powdery quality remains and could be the effect of sandalwood and patchouli, as there's no orris or heliotrope in the notes. Whatever, it's utterly lovely and gives an unguarded, open-hearted impression I like. Divine isn't creating any trembles in my emotional pool and that's what I look for in perfume, but I'll enjoy wearing what's left of my sample. Wow, it's the march of the big florals. Those who love huge powerful florals featuring gardenia and tuberose should definitely try this. It opens like brilliant sunshine flooding a room when the curtains are pulled apart with one sweep. Bright, green, tingling aldehydes greet your nose on the first whiff. Then an abundance of flowers conglomerate- tuberose, gardenia and orange blossom (all my favourite things) are most obvious to me but I also smell the rose and jasmine, just that they are not as striking as the other flowers. To add to the luxuriousness of it all is a beautiful creamy sandalwood and a mellow patchouli. I didn't get spices or musk on me but this is still true to its name, it is divine. Projection and longevity are both good for me. EDIT: There is musk and it's definitely not clean. Not sure if jasmine contributed some indoles but the drydown is amazingly sensual and a wee animalic.

A bold, animalic, spicy floriental... and aggressive, that the very beginning. Really, the first minutes are almost unbearable, skank in the dirty way (think Lutens MKK). Then you get a migraine inducing blast of Tuberose (think Fracas). Then, I get the close similiarity to Ysatis. hyacinth, mimosa, other fresh flowers. But Ysatis was far more well behaved and polite. Divine in Edp is a bold fragrance -huge sillage and great staying power - that can fit a woman of a certain appeal, that wants to leave a scented trail; this lady is wearing a leopard skin coat, black oversized sunglasses, high heels and bold jewellery, hot pink nails and lipstick. Probably not sophisticated nor the classiest but she makes a statement. The drydown is the best part, calms down a bit and there you get a dupe of the lovely floriental that Ysatis is, completely. So go and get yourself Ysatis, it's chaper than Divine.

what a distinct scent! I had a sample and happily used it for a few days. I really liked it, but I never purchased because... I don't know. Maybe it is too big and aldehydic for me. It is made according a typical classical French parfumery conception with modern twist. It's a big floral with lot of aldehydes or aldehydes-like notes and a beautiful fragrant woody base that lingers on skin in a very smooth and classical way. It smells like typical elegant mom's French perfume from the '70. It also has a hint of vanillic sweetness that may appeal more modern tastes, but all in all it remains a big floral for an assertive yet soft mannered lady.

My first impression of Divine is it's a classic style French perfume. Not a woody musk at all but a floral aldehyde. Soapy tuberose powder prevails. This stage is a mix of Giselle and Ysatis. As it warms, other florals come out of hiding with a rosy carnation (sans clove) taking the lead. I can't pick out any other florals. I'll have to come back later for the drydwon, as I'm sensing this scent has very long transition stages. Update: Yes, it's a long lasting scent but the drydown is far from spectacular and I would say I can get pretty much get the same smell from many drug store brands for 1/4 of the price. It's a pass for me.

The most beautiful opening of any scent in the world. A floral orchestra of soapy petals on a bed of musky smooth sandalwood and a mysterious animalic echo. This could have been my signature if the musk didn’t take over from the rose and florals so much towards the end and it lasted more than 8 hours. It literally is Divine as the name suggests.

Lightly powdery iris, honey, orange blossom blend with a masculine herbiness. Spicy middle notes. A very pretty scent, mysteriously sweet and sensual. This scent makes me think of a traveler, an actress. Fine silage and longevity of 4/5. Lovely perfume.

What a lovely aldehydic slightly soapy peachy oakmossy classic white floral. Smelling it makes me giddy, even though it is not the type of perfume I would wear myself. Smells more like 1992 than 1986 to me, if that makes sense. Beautiful.

My favorite fragrance of the moment! This is beautiful, powdery, sophisticated. Not one note takes center stage, but all work together in a sort of symphony. Simply stunning!

It is not a love, but strong like for me 💞

Wow, this fragrance isn't kidding around! Normally I always feel sceptical about scents with ambitious names like this one, because they tend not to live up to them, but in this case the name "Divine" is kind of justified, I think: it smells just about as big and bold and confident as it sounds, and I was not surprised to learn it dates back to 1986, a maximalist era if ever there was one. As for the scent itself, it's essentially quite a classical floral chypre. It opens up very soapy with lots of white flowers taking the spotlight, and then as it dries down it becomes more powdery, with spices and oakmoss and rose gradually taking over the dominant positions. A noticeable but not unpleasantly strong animalic aspect is also there from the start. But its main feature is that enormous boldness and power that makes it project all day long. I agree with the reviewer below me that it's very hard to imagine this on a young person, and even at 35 I associate this kind of scent more with my mother's or even grandmother's generation of women than with my own. It's just has that kind of vintage feel to it that always makes me feel like a child in comparison to those who wear it, probably because this kind of perfume was around a lot more when I was a child than it is now. As a result, sampling scents from this category always leaves me feeling kind of torn - I just don't feel at home in them, however much I like them, and I like this one quite a lot. I wonder if this will ever change...maybe in another 10 years?

Vintage vibe. You need to like tuberose. Bold with an excellent sillage and longevity. 6/10

In the opening I smelled jasmine and golden narcissus. Then comes tuberose and after that peaches. Incredible rich, strong and aldehydic scent, let me think of strong jasmine soap. The tuberose is in the dry down more evident than in the opening. It overlays with lightness every odor. It lets me think of the residents of Monaco, you know, the Millionaire Ladies in the age, they don ́t talk about it anymore, never learnt to manage theirs age and therefore looking like Frankenstein after theirs 10 plastic surgeries. Mature, endless expensive smelling and highly perfumey scent. Once you put it on, there is no chance to scrub it off. This is a kind of an art and a proof of the highest perfume quality. Women only!

Be prepared for a crafted oakmoss-aldehydey-blend; it's very classic and big. The tuberose provides the sweetness but please, don't expect a very distinct tuberose, because it's accompanied by LOTS of other notes. Divine represents the way a perfume used to be. It's projecting a soapy aura miles away from you. What could I add... Wouldn't like to admit this, but I can't get away with it... Maybe you do.

really not my thing. queen of the white florals. belongs on an older frenchwoman. smells like baby powder on me. vintage vibe. not a bubblegum tuberose but a sharp one. it's very serious about being what it is.

9:10 - Starts out old-fashioned and a bit muddled but clarifies quickly into a spicy rose. Complex but still simply pretty. Creamy and a touch animalistic, to me. Def not laundry musk. Not getting any peach, mores the pity. I think that would youthen it up a bit. 11 - I think this may work for a formal occasion but right now I feel like there is a matron standing behind me, ordering me to sit up straight and never slouch. She smells good, though. 4 - My nose is tired of this. Not bad, just unrelenting. Gunna spray something else to try to change it up. 8 - Didn't work. As soon as the other lost steam, Divine was like, "miss me?" Amazing longevity and it is a very well done perfume. I can't imagine a younger woman wearing this. It would seem vaguely ludicrous, like a kid in false eyelashes. At a eleven hours of wear, it is a strong animal-based musk with a bit of floral and spice. On my skin, the patchouli occasionally popped out as the leading scent, but never stayed longer than a few minutes, which is good because that would have turned Divine masculine. That does make me curious as to what male chemistry would do to this perfume.

„Let's Play Ladies!” Time to get out the hats and gloves! Make-up carefully applied, with some fancy jewellery. Divine comes across as a real Ladies fragrance. I imagine this been worn in the 40's and 50's, as it has a real old fashioned floral vibe. The opening doesn't last very long...as the peach and coriander seem to run straight into the flowers. And this is a large bouquet of flowers! Tuberose being in the opening, seems to be the leader all throughout this fragrance. It remains strong, and somewhat independent. Almost like it doesn't like sharing the stage with the Jasmine and rose. Which, both are very faint. Patchouli is listed, but I really can't detect it. The dry down is nice, but still old fashioned. It has quite good longevity, and sillage is average. Tuberose lovers will enjoy this fragrance, and vintage lovers certainly need to try this. I won't be purchasing this one, as so far I have only fallen for one of my six samples. But if you are looking for a nice dress up, and ladylike fragrance...this may be the one for you!

If I smell this on a woman, beyond the unequivocal and overwhelming expression of femininity, the bearer of this fragrance could forward another message equally deadly: "I will make you scream of pleasure, you'll be surprised at yourself." Sensual but not brash or vulgar, following the aphorism of perfection(I do not-remember-the autor), who said :to get the best of men must meet them in their worst sides (ahahah!.) Suitable for a quick and unconditional capitulation. (If you want to grant the "honor of arms "are made on your own) Sorry,I do this review for Divine L'Eternel Feminin,the extrait variant who,actually,smell a bit different!

Oh wow! This is something truly exceptional. It is a reminder on the golden age of perfumery of the XX century. Absolutely masterfully blended floral chypre with an exceptional treatment of tuberose. The review @Enrium posted is IMO spot on. Definitely a child of the nineties with a strong resemblance to the OG Ysatis which stands shoulder to shoulder with Boucheron, Number one de Nicolaï, White Diamonds and Diva. Excellent longevity and projection from my EdP sample. This is a regal fragrance and definitely a statement. Wear it if you want all eyes on you. She is not only stunning, but glorious. A veritable Liz Taylor character.

I recently tried the sample pack of Divine and I'm really impressed! Much better and more unique than the Ormonde Jayne line which I find too samey. Divine was the star of the bunch for me closely followed by L'ame Soeur. Divine has that beautiful proper old school opening of heavy white florals which morphs into a lipstick leather feminine beauty on my skin. Love it from opening to drydown. I could smell it on my sweater the next day and the sillage is excellent. Ten out of ten from me on this one - will definately be buying a full bottle!!

The notes looked great on this one. I love Tuberose and gardenia, and I have many powerhouse 80’s fragrances I wear and love but this was just too dated smelling to me. I couldn’t wait to get it off. I didn’t smell any good smelling Tuberose or gardenia. It just smelled like a mishmash of florals with nothing discernible. It does have a certain amount of skankiness which I loved though. My sample was new from L.S. but the composition itself has a way of smelling like it’s almost going bad.

Buttery tuberose, musk, gardenia and peach notes kick start this perfume and it stays relatively linear for a long time, warming gradually to a slightly more spicy floral after several hours. The sillage is average and longevity good. Unfortunately this is not my type of fragrance, it's not surprising or comforting or even very unique. Instead it feels very classic and reminds me of divas in furs and pearls.

Reminds me of tauer Perfume Une Rose Chypree. Very feminine. I don't get anything animalic at all, just a little spice. It's all about the florals. It's the perfume for an impossibly ideal woman. A woman who is never in a bad mood, who is always desired, who is always perfect, who never gets angry, who never has to exert herself, who lives on a pedestal.

I will probably be the only reviewer to be disappointed by divine. I got complimented with it but honestly it's nothing special on me. Longevity it's also minimal. Anyway I have to say it seemed a classy, expensive frag till it lasted. But without personality. I didn't like the chemical opening while appreciated the natural smell that followed.

Sampling this lovely rose/chypre/sandalwood scent is like stepping into a time machine- back to the late 70s, when wearing Prince Matchabelli's Cachet made me feel like a sophisticated grown-up. This scent is very potent and powerful- one tiny sprtiz this morning, and the fragrant cloud hasn't dissipated in the slightest- Thanks, L.!

Candy, tart floral but also dressed up and classic. A bit sweet on dry down, like just-on-the-edge flowers. It is divine in it's way, but it's also very expensive. Worth a try for anyone who loves elegant, layered florals.

I love everything of this perfume, but the base. How could the Perfumer allow this... crash, after so many beautiful dancing notes? It's a pity. But the voyage is fantastic, anyway: bold spicy tuberose for a Diva
