L'Homme Sage

Yes, yes I really do get some of these reviews here... Yes it does remind me vaguely of Tauer LDDM as it manages to find this creamy gourmand middle. Yes, yes I also really do get the ideas that some would get bored and put it away and then come back to it... I also get connotations suggesting it’s old school old mans vintage. It’s all these things... that’s what makes it special - contradictory. It’s old but good. It’s unique but it’s common it’s simply good for the money. Decent performance. Bright orange disappears rapidly to reveal a smoky incense with cardamom and saffron. The lychee sweetness appears as a compliment giving a suede like feel with the amber and making it creamy. It’s hard to describe the uniique feel. Maybe it’s like having a smooth creamy linear lychee ice cream in an amber cup, everything else around the cup with a burning incense stick burning at varying levels. I’m stumped with this one,’I like it just not sure if it’s top shelf or below yet. Completely stumped - trying again - maybe a brown spice with inscemce and lychee cream. Just try it and let me know... EDIT: I now know how I would describe it in simple terms. Smoke on top of vinyl with a gorgeous green soapy middle and a distinct coniferous fir on the very top. It wafts and weaves with its notes so every time I smell it comes across different and that is it’s appeal for me... very unusual scent... odd but familiar...

I got this as a gift and I'm extremely impressed. I had not heard of Divine before, but I ordered samples of several others after trying this. This has some notes that are normally challenging for me - immortelle, oakmoss, and incense. I don't own any perfumes that feature any of those prominently. But they all comes together really well. I had the same experience with Chanel Egoiste - rose and cinnamon are two of my least favorite notes, but I like Egoiste. My overall impression is "classic man's fragrance" but that doesn't mean "dated," it means "timeless." Like if Mr. Rogers looked like Cary Grant, this is what his sweater would smell like. It's undoubtedly masculine, but it's not "in your face" like some leather type perfumes. It's more smooth, soft, and peaceful. I don't think it really smells like anything else, but if I had to compare it to something, I'd say it's like a softer version of Hermes Bel Ami, with added fruit in the opening. EDIT: I just wanted to update and say this is even better than my original review. This has really grown on me, and became very addictive. I have to be careful not to overspray because I just keep thinking "oh just one more spray." Sometimes I'll even go smell the bottle in my closet. It's actually re-invigorated my interest in the hobby. I had been in a rut, but this inspired me to try more niche perfumes, and go outside my comfort zone a little.

L'Homme Sage ("wise man") is my first masculine from my Divine discovery set, and what a great place to start. A smooth, spicy woody-chypre, it is classically masculine in style, but beautifully put-together. Warm, rounded and made with natural-smelling ingredients, there is no harshness here. HS opens with bright, fresh orange, complemented to perfection with a beautiful saffron note - in fact, the nicest use of saffron I've smelled in a perfume in a while. Warm, powdery and slightly balsamic, it is followed closely by peppery cardamom and smooth woody notes, aromatic and biscuit-y. Its warm smoothness is addictive. As it develops, the green, hay-like immortelle comes to the fore, marrying nicely with the spicy-woody opening. Patchouli adds earthiness, which, alongside the oakmoss note, forms the chypre base, always a welcome development in my book! The amber accord in the base is musky, warm and balsamic, a perfect development from the saffron of the opening, tying it all together beautifully. It fades to a warm, musky skin scent, addictive until final fade. Sillage and longevity are moderate. It is a masculine-leaning scent, ideal for everyday, year-round use. Elegant, timeless and easy-to-wear, HS is beautifully-composed, well-balanced and high-quality. A scent a wise man would choose. 4.5/5.

In the beginning of my fragrance journey, 2-3 years ago, I got many samples from luckyscent. Divine l'homme sage was my favourite. Now, after trying hundreds of fragrances, I tried it again. Im totally in love with this beauty. Not too light, not too dark. Perfect. It has a spiritual mystic with incense and woods, but that is masterfully balanced with fruity and floral notes. It is very easy to wear and I think it is versatile. Unisex, but leaning towards masculinity. Maybe not the best for very warm weather, but I think you can pull it off all year around. Perfect for a cozy fall feeling. It has kind of similar vibe as reflection man..they are not similar smelling, but has the same kind of balance. Divine l'homme sage does something with my state of mind. It makes me calm and happy. Its divinity in a bottle. Im gonna buy a full bottle and I need it fast. Living without Divine l'homme sage may give abstinences! Maybe my new signature scent. 10/10 masterpiece Edit: I got a full bottle and I love this scent. Incense, oak moss, saffron, hints of fruits and florals. Its an masterfully composition and I have never smelled anything like it before. If you like to try a complex, comforting, lovely scent that "nobody" else smells like, try this one.

L'homme sage - The wise man This is one of my favourite fragrances. I got a sample of it together with Jubilation XXV and Fille en aiguilles. The three share common aspects (I'm not saying they are the same!)and for the first weeks of analyzing them at the same time, this was the one that always seemed to be the best crafted (in terms of its ingredients coalescing well and behaving every time you apply in the same perfect way) and more magical. I even liked it much more than the Amouage (which is great but too much going on, too sweet and chaotic)but my only concern had to do with its target... I didn't buy a full bottle then because I felt it didn't match my age and perhaps not either my style... L'homme sage is extremely well made, very strong, long lasting and so refined... I think this is a perfect scent for people who wear formal clothes and wish to have a unique scent that combines wearable incense with a sweet powdery drydown. I recommend it 100%! Please don't use it in summer! This is definitely one of those jewels of this perfume world. I will for sure have it in the future. I would dare to say it is an older and much more interesting brother of prada amber. Go get a sample!

Sample from shopfrancellc was deeeep with lots of warm comforting projection and lasting power. I bought a full bottle from Luckyscent after they restocked in 2019 and it is significantly lightened up both in projection and scent depth. The base notes are thinner and the top/mid are louder than the sample. The lychee shines more. Almost old manish but with just enough modernity for 35+ gent to wear. Of the Divine line that I have sampled and bought, this is my favorite.

This fragrance is overall a really pleasant experience It starts with really pleasant spice where you can smell the high quality cardamon and then it evolves into a really gentlemanly Sophisticated Smell The projection is perfect for this kind of frag as it invites you to get closer without Murdering everybody in the room Another good thing is that it honestly does last Forever as the reviews say Its an amazing fragrance from a very interesting niche house

Wow!! Never heard of this house until I stumbled upon it, and L'homme Sage looked most intriguing to me...and OMG!!! L'homme Sage is one of the best fragrances I've tried in a while. I keep smelling my wrist and my mind is blown at how great this is. I'm the worst at describing a scent, but this is warm, spicy, and woody fragrance...almost smells chypre-ish. Outstanding find I can't describe how happy I am with this!!! Well done, Divine! 12/10

This scent is simply amazing. It was just so rich, warm and spicy, smoky yet sweet. Such a complex bouquet that mixes so well. The only thing keeping me from purchasing this is the sillage.I don't like that it stayed so close to my body. It had decent wearing power on me.

This is the cologne your dad wore - meant in the best possible way. It’s a fragrance from out of time, the type you wish designers still made, one from the days before they all went blue and fresh or vanilla and bubblegum. This is a classic masculine fragrance.

Quite simply put this is a niche version of one of my favorite designer scents Versace Man. The snob in me prefers this slightly mostly because I love Immortelle which replaces the tobacco in Man.

Soft, you won't over take the room, but they will know your there, just enough to want more and it lasts for ever. Beautiful, class in a bottle! Could be a signature scent I love it.

Great performance, a bit old school men’s fragrance. Very alluring, if you like things like Timbuktu and Dzongka this is very similar in its structure.

Pleasant and easy to wear. A good fragrance without pretensions, good quality, good longevity, good smell.

A hidden great gourmand scent.

Interestingly, I have bought and sold this previously and thought it to be to ‘old-man”ish or too mature feeling, but have noticed my tastes have changed recently and gave it another shot, and I’m pleasantly surprised. It definitely has an old school vibe to it, especially when initially sprayed, but it has something about it that is more deep, rounded and full compared to most fragrances in this style. I find similar fragrances to often be too powdery, screechy, or high pitched for my liking, but this has a well rounded sweet powdery oakmoss feel with depth and a touch of florals. Despite incense and saffron featuring prominently in the note breakdown, unfortunately thats not how I feel this fragrance at all. Doesn’t mean its not great, but definitely not an incense or saffron centric fragrance. Performance is great, and as usual, buy from divine’s website and save some money vs luckyscent. I believe you can get 125ml for what Luckyscent charges for a 50ml. Short version of this scent can be summed up by a comment I received from my better half- She said it smells like the inside of a pumpkin, and I can’t disagree, but a powdery version. Performs well.

L'Homme Sage opens as a soft, refined amber, in that same slightly-darkened creamy-lotion vein as Dior Ambre Nuit and Parfums MDCI Cuir Ottoman. Sheer, sleek, and civilized. Then it becomes dry and vaguely herbal in a dusty-gray-green way; I assume this is a patchouli phase, though it’s not a treatment I’m familiar with. Gradually the patchouli fades into the smooth vanilla-amber base, like swirls of white chocolate. As usual with the Divine perfumes, L'Homme Sage is beautifully sophisticated and balanced, but I don’t think it’s as interesting as some of the others. It’s just creamy refinement with a smooth woody core. Extremely enjoyable, though; sometimes you want a perfume that enhances the person without calling attention to itself. It also doesn’t read as classically “masculine” as L'Homme Accompli (riding-boot leather) or L'Homme de Coeur (gin & tonic) or L'Etre Aime Homme (brooding amber). L'Homme Sage is a cozy, luxe neutral-toned ambiance that feels quite unisex in a “my skin but better” kind of way.

The top is about a fruity/woody/spicy immortelle, and probably the most interesting part. In the heart, a moss note will join the immortelle, giving a vague impression of sweet tobacco. In the base, it's all about elemi (vanillic/sharp incense) and chocolate-y patchouli. A very interesting fragrance, that plays in the same ballpark as SL Chergui in the top, and results sharing similarities with... JV Vintage in the base, an unsurprising point given the similar structure in both (fruity-ness, impression of tobaccco, and mossy patchouli in the base). Obviously, Divine L'HS is a step higher in quality. Average/good performance. Very nicely blended. A bit too sweet in the base for my tastes, but it's quite unique. I like and recommend it if it's what one is looking for. Better worn in colder nights.

Interesting -- a fruitchouli for men. The patch and litchi jump right out at me and scream "Fruitchouli!", just like La Vie est Belle or Coco Mad, only masculined up with pine, moss and incense notes. I'd recommend L'Homme Sage to anyone who wants a darker and less sweet fruitchouli or, in particular, men who like La Vie est Belle or Coco Mad but want a fragrance with a more conventionally "masculine" treatment. Personally, I'm not really a fruitchouli lover, so I'll pass on this one even though I can recognize and admire its high quality.

cardamom in the opening kind of reminded me of YSL La Nuit, but a little sweeter with lychee instead of lavender. the lychee then fades and the incense and saffron seem to come out stronger for awhile, giving way to fir, amber, and immortelle a few hours later. very nice scent, would definitely pick it up for a good price, but apparently it isn't too cheap.

good review flannelman. I could use the same words but I wont, english is not my main language so I'm not used with all the words. Great fragrance here! I like it. I like the basenotes, and safron well mixed in this concoction. Reminds me costume national intense, with a plus of incense. Vey well crafted. 9/10

A woody and spicy fragrance, perfect for fall and winter. More for a man, I can smell saffron, cardamom, amber and wood. Warm and sexy, this perfume has an excellent sillage and longevity. Very good quality of ingredients, a good niche fragrance! Timeless! 9/10

An exceptionally smooth and pleasing spicy fragrance, heavy on cardamom, saffron, and orange. I would love this if it only projected a bit more--it mostly stays close to my skin, unfortunately. But it sure is nicely balanced--a lot of thought went into this.

If your going through minapose you might love this perfume. I am not a floral lover so if you are a guy who wants to smell like flowers. This is for you!

This is a woody spicy fragrance with some green immortelle and some faint fruitiness. Its not bad but it smells like any other spicy woody fragrance

On paper, "L'Homme Sage' opens with a bold hit of boot polish saffron, dry incense, sweet fruit, fresh cardamom and a wonderful nose tingling accord that I couldn't put my finger on. It reminded me of a drier, soapier, less boozy version of TF "Plum Japonais". Soon afterwards I noticed a dense powderiness developing. Combined with the fresh soapy cardamom and sparkly spice, it smelled like some very luxurious talc. If things had stayed this way, I wouldn't have hesitated to buy a bottle, but unfortunately the immortelle and oakmoss soon arose to consume the whole composition, blanketing the sparkle of the opening in a dull, dusty haze of fenugreek and waxy makeup powder. At this point it smelled old, lackluster and flabby, like a corpulent 17th century dandy with rouge on his lips. Not very alluring. On my skin, it was even worse. When it comes to powder, I will stick to my "Chypre Palatin".

This smells very very well blended. The total effect is a polished leather fragrance. Almost identical to Knize Ten.

There seems to be a tendency with L'Homme Sage for users to experience it at one point in time, brush it off, but then be drawn back to it later on in life only to find that they love it and consider it one of those truly special scents. Such is the case with me as well. I even went as far as buying a bottle, about 8 years ago, but I couldn't get into it. I didn't give it much of a chance and quickly sold it. But somehow, its smell has remained vividly enough in my olfactive memory to suddenly crave it and to some extent, even require it. Out of nowhere, I suddenly knew that this was the one I was looking for at this time in my life, 8 years later. And man was I right. After getting this about two weeks ago, it's shot up into my top 10 (this is rare, even for new fragrances). I'm finding the blend of woods, incense, dried fruits, and spicy saffron the perfect backdrop to the increasing cold. The scent is sophisticated and complex, but it's also relaxed and meditative. It has just a slight opulent elegance that raises it above other spicy-woody fragrances assuring you that it is no common slouch...but it achieves this through quiet confidence. This is a grown man's fragrance. It's not for the youth, not for the clubs, not for picking up women. It's for someone who's settled into his role and knows his worth, someone who is comfortable in his own skin and would have it no other way. Fittingly, the fragrance is completely unique--nothing else smells quite like L'Homme Sage--reserved, yet quietly bold. It apologizes for nothing but doesn't need to either as it's pure class from start to finish. Look into this if you appreciate incense fragrances, enjoy the mixture of dried fruit accords in compositions, or are considering a classy, masculine woods fragrance. Final rating, 9.5/10, with solid, above average performance and longevity. By the way, just a little warning to the buyer: If you want the cool-looking bottle, the brown cylindrical one with the silver Divine logo on it, then buy the 50ml bottle. If you buy a 100ml bottle you are likely to get the much plainer and less attractive rectangular glass bottle, which in many cases, is also a splash bottle and not even a spray or vaporisateur. This practice seems counterintuitive, as one should be rewarded for buying the larger quantity, but I promise you--go with the 50ml if you want the cool bottle.

L'Homme Sage opens in a surprising fashion with a very intense, rich, warm powdery blast of saffron and, to a lesser extent, licorice. Quite a shock — unexpected but enjoyable! Citrus and milder fruit notes take the second role in the top notes. After a couple of exhuberant minutes, the fragrance's warmth continues to develop. But it's definitely a different kind of warmth: less fiery/spicy, more subdued and enveloping. Smoky incense notes are the first to join in and gradually start to dominate the saffron, of which only a discrete spicy trail remains. The progression then continues at a slower but definite pace, and L'Homme Sage starts to glow with warm amber and patchouli, leading us to a discrete but gorgeous woody-ambery drydown. An unusual, compelling, rich, warm scent. The Sage, it is said, is quiet, serene, and does not boast of his riches. And so is this fragrance. Wear it when in search of peace and quietness. It will warm your spirits and stay close to your skin.

L'Homme Sage opens like a firework. A tiny and barely perceptible (mandarine) shot towards the dark sky that explodes with a magnificent and stunning effect (saffron). Wow! At this point the firework usually starts to fade out but with L'Homme Sage it's like witnessing to the "gran finale" as smoky frankincense, cardamom and woods immediately start to shine surrounded by a consistent dose of sweet amber and achieving an incredible lasting power. Overall, after the sparkling opening, L'Homme Sage has a warm character, It's comfortable, deep, velvety and kinda meditative. A bold (but not loud) composition that has a solid structure and some weight and remarks its presence with a very distinctive allure. L'Homme Sage is here to prove that in modern perfumery is still possible to produce a concoction of ingredients that deserves to be called a FRAGRANCE! Very Good! Rating: 8-8.5/10

One of the nicest fragrances i have. And i have many. This one is a sleeper. If anyone has smelled Ganymede you'll notice these both have saffron. The other day i caught a whiff of something coming from my watch band - i couldn't pinpoint it at first but it stopped me in my tracks as to which fragrance was lingering. I had been wearing Ganymede with some frequency lately so i'm sure it was contributing - but then i remembered i had worn L'Homme Sage recently. Decided to compare the note breakdown on them both, as i recall saffron being present in both Ganymede and L'homme Sage. I may be going out on a limb here but i feel like LHS could be the more down to earth, warmer, more natural version of Ganymede. Take away the metallic aspect of Ganymede and I feel like there are more than enough similarities, as wild as that might sound.

because of this fragrance—I want to smell like a “wise man” L’Homme Sage took me completely by surprise—a masculine fragrance that smells incredible on me. @kitkatya said below that it was one of the best scents they’ve ever put on their body... also a woman. I vouch for this. It’s the immortelle, the gaiac wood, the fir, the saffron. And the incense! Oh my goodness the INCENSE! All of those combined with the fruity notes 😙🤌😮💨. L’Homme sage captivated me, this perfume is spellbinding. I can’t quite explain how it made me feel and the way it emanated from my skin. But it was quite magical. I’m wholeheartedly fascinated and enamoured. Divine do something in their perfumes and their blending that I would say is perhaps some kind of sorcery??? I’m going to get a full bottle.

This opens with a warm spicy blast of saffron and cardamom with a big dose of incense and it smells really good. After this opening I'm detecting a slightly sweet fruity note which becomes stronger within the mix. This notes cuts through the spicyness to transform the scent making it lighter and its quickly joined with some patchouli. The scent has now become quite aromatic and balmy and I'm really liking this. It also gets a bit smoky and the fruit has now made the scent sweeter so you have a "Fruity Slightly Sweet Spicy Balmy Fragrance". I really like the opening to this and how it's really warm and spicy to begin with and then how the slight fruitness quickly transforms the scent by making it lighter and aromatic. Good fragrance.

L'Homme Sage is exactly what the name suggests: a fragrance for a wise man. An experienced man, who may have lived and loved, and learned from his mistakes. As a man of the world, of a certain age, well-traveled and well-educated, I like to consider myself "un homme sage", and this feel a great affinity for this creation. I bought this fragrance on the recommendation of a close friend, and it now occupies pride of place. As I write this, I am savouring the aroma of this masterpiece, and the adjective that springs to mind is "classy". I find it almost redundant to list the individual notes, since they combine so perfectly to create a harmonious symphony that embraces its wearer with a discrete aura of mystery. Love it.

Nous l'avons choisi ensemble en boutique et le flacon est rechargeable. Parfum de très grande qualité qui tient très bien toute la journée. Mon mari a porté beaucoup de beaux parfums, Givenchy Gentleman, Habit rouge, Héritage, mais celui-ci les surclasse tous, je ne veux plus quitter son cou et renifle ses écharpes sans arrêt, il me rend folle.

Not sure what the hell the guy beneath me is talking about....But L'Homme Sage is extremely long-lasting and excellent sillage and D&G "The One" is TOTALLY not....Totally opposite...I think of this one as more of a wearable LDDM...I have both and the Tauer LDDM has a odd note that I cannot put my finger on that makes it sometimes hard to wear...I love that one too but this one is warm, more smooth almost a masculine powder type smell to me....But definitely worth checking out and D&G "The One" can stay on the shelf, IMO....

Woody and spicy opening. Soft, understated, mature. It's a little bit powdery as well. I also get some sweetness from the amber and a pleasant incense accord. Very well blended. A spicy fragrance with notes of immortelle and something reminiscent of cinnamon. Very versatile and easy to wear. All in all a well done spicy woody scent, performance is decent with average lasting power. 7,5/10

If you enjoy invasion barbare, you'll like this. Based on all of the reviews I didn't know what to expect since this has been described as being comprable to everything from Antaeus to LADDM... To me however, it's Invasion Barbare with a non descript citrus on top. I wouldn't call this scent generic but by no means is it groundbreaking or interesting. Admittedly I was a little let down.

I went to London to try out some of the new releases and was extremely non-plussed by all of them and just when i thought nothing was going to grab me i gave this a spray....absolutely fantastic. Spicy,manly and long-lasting with a nice smokey incense feel in the dry-down. it smells expensive and well made and will be on my 'to get' list.

it smells like an old man perfume, but in a common way. it is elegant & classy but a very common (sometimes annoying) style. i smell a spices woody essence when it dries down... dunno much about it but sometimes it annoys me and i feel i wanna remove it.

A warm, somewhat spicy woody aromatic masculine with a slightly leathery saffron accord that's been caramelized by the immortelle. Also slightly powdery. It's really nice and all, but I wouldn't ever buy it. Doesn't really satisfy me in any way.

I tried this a few years ago and thought it was just ok. Just tried it again and thought, "If I ever needed to impress someone, this is what I would wear." Thinking about picking up a full bottle.

Very safe, fresh, almost aquatic smelling Fougère type fragrance. Smells great, but certainly not too unique.

This is the scent of well being and peace in a bottle...It shines in special occasions.
