Rising Mysore 2

I've never tried Rising Mysore 1, but I've read that it classifies as a Fougere where this one for it's a Chypre. Very spicy at the top together with citrus and a bit of neroli give it sort of a fresh peppery vibe to it. Then it progressively transitions to Sandalwood which becomes the star of the show together with Oakmoss/Jasmine. It's not your typical super creamy sandalwood, so I love it for that. This is an amazing composition and considering it's all naturals it lasts for well over 6h which is great in my books. I'm very happy I managed to secure a bottle but it's really unfortunate that one always have to blind buy from D&Z.

The Tide is indeed rising. Mysore sandalwood is a rare, luxurious ingredient that has the same depth potential as oud; even almost as expensive as common oud. So, sampling an authentic Mysore is a must for a fragrance enthusiast. This takes a turn from the other Mysore's I have tried. Others are nutty and creamy and woody. This is clearly citrus, sweet, woody and really good. As it warms up the layers of depth rise to the top. The sweetness starts to mix more prominently with the citrus. It is indeed all natural and quite good and rare so If you get a chance to sample, you should. 4.25/5

Rising mysore 2 is nice fragrance. Opens up with citrus notes, mainly lemon and orange peel. Start is brief and proceeds right into middle which is sandalwood, jasmine, ylang, other florals with subtle spices and bayleaf. This middle is unchanged till drydown and frags end. Its very summery, easy to wear, naturally smelling white florals perfume anyone will like. Longevity is around 4 hours. I did have RM1, compared both and prefer RM2. Difference between them in more pronounced flowers either by amping them up, or toning down the piercing laurel leaf note that was dominating this perfume. It is still there, but very light. Another difference is added gentle sweetness which is very pleasing. And these 2 factors were deciding. Some might say RM1 was more "original" but at the same time it was more challenging, no one liked it from my circle for example. RM2 on the other hand is like a well polished, refined and elegant sweet white floral composition brewed by master perfumer. naturally smelling and aimed to please crowd. Another topic is price changed between RM1 and RM2 by 30% increase, but strength of scent dropped, and composition didnt change all that much, so cant draw any conclusion other than an attempt to make more money. Finally, despite it being well made perfume, there is nothing utterly unique about it. You can find comparable or even better compositions around. I would prefer equipage and BDP anyday to this. Its more masculine compared to unisex, notes are more defined and it stays longer. Id also add that Mem by bogue and L'eau by tauer are better white florals as well and could easily satisfy this niche. Amber cologne by Bortnikoff as well. Please dont chase it at inflated prices, as D&Z will produce more Rising Mysore in the future which will be better than its predecessors. RM2 is the proof of it.

Rising Mysore 2 is a westernized version of the original Rising Mysore. The tulsi is toned down, the spices are smoothed out, the sweet citrus is amplified and it’s been overall westernized for the current natural/artisanal market. Rising Mysore 2 is a wonderful continuation of a beautiful Mysore series that will only benefit with time. A side by side comparison will see that the Mysore in RM2 is considerably stronger in the base and there’s a lovely addition of vanillic warmth that rounds out the original sharpness of the OG. My only complaint is that Dixit and Zak are catering too much to a western market and have essentially taken all of the magic and neutralized it for those who are challenged by traditional Indian spices. The original rising Mysore saw a large amount of criticism over its lack of performance only to do a total 180° after months of maceration which now shows excellent performance. RM2 will benefit from further maceration and I have no doubts the performance will be on par with the rest of the collection. I do not understand the complaints over the price increase as ALL perfumers deserve to charge whatever they feel is necessary to recoup costs of materials. With sandalwood currently in decline due to massive loss in recent harvests, I’m thankful they’re not charging more for what can be considered some of the best perfume blending on the market. Overall Rising Mysore 2 is a wonderful addition to the world of natural perfumery. I’d say it’s a worthy addition to anyone’s collection and for those of us diehard Dixit and Zak fans, it’s another example of why Zakir and Dixit are quickly becoming some of the best perfumers in the natural perfume world.

I hope they improved bottle quality on these. emporer hind bottle quality was worst than some of $20 bottles. good luck buying one, only available through some third party sellers in India, and each one of them has a diffrent price.
