Velvet Mimosa Bloom

A charming example of the yellow floral family. One of the most recognizable differences between yellow florals and white florals is the absence of creamy or powdery richness. Instead, yellow florals often carry a faint honeyed tone combined with a lightly dry, herbaceous character. Typical representatives of this group include mimosa, acacia, narcissus, and broom. In this fragrance, the central theme is clearly mimosa. Right after spraying, mimosa is immediately identifiable. There is a slight initial density to the scent, though it does not last long. At the same time, the composition carries a distinctly watery floral quality—similar to the smell of fresh flowers standing in water at a florist. The overall impression feels soft and clean. The citrus component is barely noticeable, while narcissus stands out more clearly, bringing its characteristic green, herbaceous floral tone. Violet adds a touch of greenery and a gentle powder nuance, rounding the structure. As the fragrance moves into the heart, the early heaviness fades and the scent becomes fresher, maintaining that watery floral character. The focus remains on mimosa and narcissus. In the later stage, the structure changes very little. These two florals continue to dominate, with only an occasional hint of orange blossom appearing in the background. Longevity reaches roughly up to five hours, with moderate projection.

This is a lovely spring time fragrance. Very floral, mimosas and green grasses. A tiny hint of sweetness, but very natural, unrefined. It truly does feel like you're laying down in a field of grasses, maybe enjoying some angel food cake. There are flowers everywhere and bees buzzing, birds chirping, sun shining. A spring lovers paradise. My only gripe with this fragrance is the lack of performance. It has significantly lower sillage than the other fragrances in this Velvet line, and I agree with the previous reviewer that because this is a linear scent with no base notes, longevity is not as good as it could be. But I also feel that adding something else would've made the integrity of the scent suffer. I want the best of both worlds, ethereal whimsical scents with killer performance, is that too much to ask? This is still a wonderful fragrance. For those who mourn the discontinuation of Ostara by Penhaligon's, you should give this one a try.

It opens with fresh floral in honey-like tone and then turns surprisingly natural and dry/earthy.. Very pleasant. Reminds me of Byredo's Inflorescence (in feeling); not as "bridal" (picture an all-white wedding), more "hippie" (picture long loose hair, off-white dress, bare feet, in a field of daisy and dry weeds). *After its dry down, it leaves a green soapy floral on the skin, similar to Fleurs de Citronnier :)

Violet leaf, mimosa and a beautiful narcissus opens velvet bloom. Neroli keeps it fresh. This is a yellow floral done very well and rare to see these days. Enthusiasts that love Ostara, this is one to check out.Bright sunny in nature. My only quibble is lack of base notes so longevity suffers. I'm not too worried as I have a huge 5oz bottle. I don't know why this isn't talked about more

A pretty smelling yellow floral perfume. Very powdery. There’s not any depth and you get lots of powdery green flowers. It doesn’t last long. I’m interested in yellow florals now but not in this context where it’s unremarkable at best.

I find this very unpleasant and headache inducing for the first hour. I sometimes like mimosa in fragrances but have a hard time with yellow flowers in general. For me this is too yellow and a clear ‘no’.

Pretty mimosa blast in the opening, but it soon turns powdery-sugar sweet mixed with the sharp sour lily. Not for me. The perfect mimosa is (Anna Zworykina's) Switch Perfumes No2.
