Velvet Tender Oud

This one falls into the category of those fragrances I love more each time I wear them. My first impression, and I suppose this remains true with the opening, was that it was a nice oud/rose with a sharp, alcoholic bug spray note that I couldn’t ignore. With the above understood though, this dries down fairly quickly to a clean, high-performing, and perfectly balanced oud and rose combination. Tender Oud is perfectly linear and isn’t terribly complex, but the almond accord helps to create a sort of stone fruit/berry note that I’d liken to cherry or currant, and it makes this unlike any other oud/rose fragrance that I own. Although it took me a while to find (and understand) the almond note in Tender Oud, I’m glad I did. It underpins the whole scent, and gives it its unique character. Despite what must sound like a simple fragrance, I own several other ouds that, while beautiful, don’t seem to achieve the perfect balance of Tender Oud. It doesn’t smell like any others I’ve found yet. The closest comparison is probably Armani Privé Oud Royale, but the rose in Oud Royale fades a bit, and there’s no sharp opening note to it. There is no sweetness in Tender Oud either, so while I may not agree entirely with the Rose D’Arabie comparison, I could imagine a passing resemblance to Noir de Noir. Perhaps the biggest difference for me between Tender Oud and other oud and rose fragrances is that this one is probably best worn during the day. At the very least, it’s one of the few oud scents I own that is never out of place during the daytime. As far as performance, it’s easily 12 hours-plus. You will have to wash this off if you want to update your fragrance, it won’t disappear on its own. Sillage seems to be normal, but that’s okay for me. I can smell this on myself at all times without offending others nearby. I highly recommend this for people seeking out the best among the many thousands of oud and rose scents, as this is surely one of them.

I’m new to the oud game; as in, I own Oud Wood as well but I can’t pull it off since it’s quite masculine. So a rose-oud combo seems a lot to be my cup of tea, and it is. Talking about the fragrance, it is basically a combination of all my favourite notes - almonds, roses and my new love, oud (which, to be honest, am not very acquainted to. In my opinion, oud smells like the Middle East that I recently visited before the pandemic and loved). It opens with sweet (but not cloying at all) almonds and I can also detect roses and a very tame oud pretty much throughout. There is also an non-specific woodiness at the drydown. I am no professional but the scent pyramid is simple enough for me to distinguish each and every note. Longevity is definitely 12hrs+ with moderate projection. A very tender oud indeed. So this is my first love when it comes to rose-oud fragrances. Yes, the price is really steep. Honestly I will never pay for the full price; I got it for a steal from my dear friend. I bet the quality of this fragrance is great; it is quite oily and non-alcoholic. I apologise for not being a professional though. Once this pandemic is over, I will go out and look for more rose-oud fragrances. I am sure that I will find something that is more worth the hefty price tag. Un parfum merveilleux au notes Oud très tendre comme son nom l’indique, je crois bien que c'est la douceur de la rose qui le rend si tendre... l’amande est un très très bon mélange qui se marie bien avec les notes de bois et avec L'oud aussi... on apprécie le changement très discret du parfum avec après chaque bout de temps... il est pas un parfum fort mais il est fort de caractère ça sent que c'est un parfum privée. la boite est le flacon sont a la hauteur du luxe

I don't know how some people can rate this stuff as having a "weak" longevity. I sprayed 2 sprays on a sample card on Monday. By Thursday this stuff was still going strong!! I don't even think this fragrance ever enters the "dry down" phase. All I smelled was rose and oud the whole time. The rose that is used in this creation is simply divine. Love this stuff. I'm dying to get my hands on it again to spray some on my skin! Will update once I do.

This is the only woodsy/oud scent that I can wear without smelling manly or like a Church. I just love the blend of the rose with the oud/woodsy notes. It is sexy and yet light in the sense of most other ouds/wood scents, which can be quite heavy and off putting for my nose. I also love the Tom Ford Oud Wood, but this Velvet Tender Oud, is lighter.

@eewatts23 - this was released in 2013, Rose & Cuir was 2019. How's this cloning that?! The "oud" in here is sharp, screechy...synthetic. I've had a large decant of this for years and it's always registered as "okay". Nothing special.

This is Turkish Delight in a bottle. One of the best rose/oud combos out there in my book, unisex for sure, but ever so slightly leaning towards the feminine side. Very sensual, a joy to wear.

On me longevity is for more than 12 hrs, even after a shower the fragrance is still on me. Projection is average. Nutty-oud ♥

Sometimes I tire of strong and overpowering scents. When I do, I think this is the one for me to just quietly go about my business. It is sweet enough for my tastes and doesn't whack you in the face. The woods/ouds are not over the top and the almond balances things nicely. So far, I am not getting the rose though, it is very subtle for me. I will perhaps revisit this to update if the rose comes through more, which would be nice. :) Edit: Okay, so after about an hour or so the rose came out. Very soft, not too sweet, velvety rose. Beautiful. I love the scent of roses anyway so I shouldn't be too surprised to like this but it is heavenly. :) Edit: Much later, the rose is the strongest thing I smell now. Even after reapplication, all I can smell is rose. I would recommend this to a rose lover.

Your classical oud-rose combo. Your beautiful, stereotypical rose scent accompanied, in the background, by a shy woody note of oud. Not as oudy as the names suggests. This is 75% rose. I like rose, so I like this fragrance. But I'm left feeling disappointed because just like Velvet Desert Oud, I came expecting original oudy scent but was left with something completely different that what the name suggests. Nonetheless, a beautiful, cold weather-oriented, mature rose scent. "Like".

Heavy with the oud, medium on the almond, shy on the rose. Decant went to my husband. I like it but wish it was less woody and was more rosy.

This smells suspiciously similar to FM's Rose & Cuir. I am not sure how to feel about this entire line by Dolce & Gabbana because so far the three that I have tried smell essentially like clones other houses. For example, Velvet Desert Oud feels just like a clone of Tom Ford's Tuscan Leather, and many other people have also suggested that in the smells like section. I have not explored this entire line but I'm going to make an assumption that there are probably several more that are clones or near clones of other fragrances. Now don't get me wrong, if some perfume house is a clone house then that's their own business, but they should at least admit it like Paris Corner does. I think the problem here is that what they are cloning is actually slightly cheaper oh, so it doesn't make any sense to buy these. To be fair I think that this is more wearable Rose & Cuir, but not by much. Let's get some creativity perfume houses!

Another overpriced synthetic rose & oud combo that brings nothing new to the table. Pleasant, lots of rose and a bit of oud, but nothing unique. Maybe 6 years ago D&G could have got away with this but not now, bottles are half the price on the grey market.

The fragrance name is misleading. There is nothing "tender" about it. The scent is harsh, linear, sharp and gross... The almond is nonexistent. Don't waste your money!

This is really a hidden gem! From all the rose/oud combo's this is one of the best, very high quality, starts as a suprise with the almonds and then the rose take's over with the oud. No harsh or synthetic feeling, soft but persisent. There is a great similarity with silk mood MFK, the greatest difference is the almonds opening in this fragrance. This fragrance arrived before MFK launched silk mood, which become more famous, but in my opinion is less original, although also from high quality. If you have one of the two, there is no need to buy the other one. Price level (high, but both are worth it!) is about the same, so choose with your heart.....

Its a wonderful perfume and after testing it thru my sample, i was convinced enuff to buy a full bottle. The smell is so seductive.And for everyone's info, This perfume has such a wonderful lasting (8-9 hours) before it starts to fad away and decent projection. All hail Tender Oud

I've tried to find the rose in this but all I get is ginger ale. No almonds either - wish there were. It does get woodier later on, and it does last, but I don't really want to smell of ginger ale. Must be my skin. Sorry to all who love this - enjoy it if it's good for you.

Agar wood is not actually OUD, they just call it OUD, but its nothing better, easily available very low rates in indian markets. YSL M7 is an example. Now D&G is also in!! OUD is something dark/black and bitter, giving a smell of smoky hash. Cambodian oud is better.

Very simillar to Tom Ford's Black Orchid in the opening and then it becomes much lighter. Nice scent but no longevity. In an hour its gone. Leans towards the feminine side. 7/10

Must be a balanced combination where a note is not dominant on the others. So all I detect is blackcurrant/cassis based perfume. Very Interesting. Beautiful.

My favorite oriental perfume and one of the most incredible stuff I've smelt. Purely magnificent.
