Donna Karan Women Energizing

I’m a bit confused as to whether this fragrance differs from DKNY Women. I’m pretty sure I remember when this launched as I remember reading an interview with the face of the fragrance (the supermodel Anja Rubik if my memory serves me correctly) and being intrigued by the concept, so I am assuming it is a separate fragrance to DKNY Women. However, when I search for DKNY Women perfume, all the stock photos show a box which has Energizing written on it. Are they two separate scents?! I really like this, I wasn’t sure about the tomato note but thankfully it smells like a nice green note and not like ketchup or Bloody Mary cocktail 😂. On me this dries down to almost like an aldehyde kind of perfume. I really like aldehydes (thanks to Chanel No.5!) and the citruses in this are quite aldehyde-like to my nose. The orange in this is lovely, a bit like a glass of fresh orange juice first thing in the morning. I’m not sure if there is vodka in this or not as online descriptions seem to vary but I feel like I can pick up on it. I do like vodka as a perfume note, it’s very clean and fresh. This is a lovely perfume that I can use as a dumb reach or when I want a break from my other spicy or oud beast mode perfumes or my gourmands. I wish it projected more, the longevity is good but it is very much a skin scent on me, although my skin eats up citrus scents in seconds! I have the EDT, not sure if the EDP has more sillage, will have to test this out. I detect a vague resemblance to Clinique Happy and Estée Lauder Pleasures, it’s very much in that vein if that helps anyone figure out if they’d like this. Very much citrus-fresh to my nose, not floral in the slightest. A proper fresh perfume, so perfect for professional settings and hot weather, although I am wearing this in winter on a very cold day and it smells just as good. I think it is just beautiful, apart from the lack of sillage, that being said, Milton Lloyd’s She JYUK dupe has more projection so I think I will layer the two. Have received compliments on it too so it obviously suits me. Always seems to be on offer in the U.K. quite a unique and underrated gem in my opinion.

When I was buying this in TKmaxx last summer I was under impression I was getting the original from 1999, and only after I came back home I realised my mistake, I haven't worn it properly till today. I have have some sort of mini obsession with Y2K era perfumes for a while now, for many different reasons, one of them is that I was a teenager and couldn't afford even mainstream designer perfume, and most of the stuff that was popular and innovative back then is either discontinued or now considered dated. This is only lucky for me, because I can discover wearable creations that are not going to be polarising and not going to suffocate someone and I will be able to experience and enjoy while wearing, before they go into the obscurity and oblivion. This flanker does have that Y2K vibe for me and I am absolutely smitten. I am pretty sure the vodka note is an absolute gimmick, because vodka is 40 percent ethyl alcohol and 60 percent water and perfume contains that stuff by default. The citrus game is strong, zesty and astringent, yet very noble, bitter and never venturing the toilet cleaner territory. I don't perceive violet leaf here, it's more reminiscent of the tomato leaf as stated in the original one's notes. The florals are present, but they are polite, well behaved and up for teamwork in this composition. There's a sparkly effervescent aspect as well which must be some sort of aldehydes or even a mixture of sparkly and metallic ones. I totally dig someone's comparison with One Of Those [Hg]. Yet if I had to draw parallels with what it reminds me in nyche I must say this does exactly what MFK Aqua Universalis did for me - Clean, noble, zesty citrusy number for hot weather. It also had the same vintage laundry detergent powder softest musks blend. Reminds me of handwashed and line-dried clothes from my childhood memories.

"SILVER" GIN & SAKE Scent - Airy Sharp Citrus & Floral. I'm not sure if there's a cocktail that combine sake and gin, but this would be it. There's the sharp, tart citrus that's near the juniper-berry of gin in the opening, and the ozonic floral-vodka notes of sake in the heart, all resting on a soft woody base. Having said that, the trail isn't one of alcohol, but a refreshingly, cold "shower fresh" mountain mist. This smells like a familiar perfume to me, and I can't quite place if it's from the original DKNY Women, as I haven't had my nose on that in a long time. Has a silvery cologne vibe, with performance that exceeds expections for this category of scent. Contrast to Aqua Universalis Maison Francis Kurkdjian: These are different, but I can see why they've been compared as there is an overall similar vibe. Aqua Universalis has a more forward white-floral quality, while DKNY Women Energizing has the more forward gin & sake vibe. Roughly equivalent performance. Contrast to Sultan Al-Rehab: These are different, but there is a similar silvery cologne vibe, although Sultan has a more obvious juniper-berry note while DKNY Women Energizing has the more forward floral-sake quality. Roughly equivalent performance, but slightly better projection for DKNY and slightly better longevity for Sultan which come in a little attar roller-ball oil. Contrast to Romance Ralph Lauren: These are different, but I can see why they've been compared, as there is a similar 'silver' quality. Romance has more of a silver perfume quality, while DKNY Women Energizing has more of a silver cologne quality, amongst other difference. Roughly equivalent performance, or slightly better for Romance. Overall: delightfully refreshing 'silver' gin & sake scent with above average performance. It's a love for me. Enjoy!

I couldn't agree with Indigo more!!! These two scents are so similar and they both share this unusual combination of tomato leaf/wet T-Shirt/citruses/vodka kind-of-thing which is just amazing. I'm surprised to see that tomato is not listed here while it is really prominent - not any less than in EDP. Anyway, I love this scent, I'm happy to have it and I know it will be more than great fun to be using this on hot summer days.

Perfect in the heat.It is a crisp , fresh , tarte citrusy scent. The vodka note takes away the tendency for it to be bathroom cleaner /textbook citrus which is absolutely great. The middle floral notes especially the lotus still make it have a feminine edge even if this can be pulled off by a guy. Dries off to a woody base that still manages to come off light and not bitter. Will definitely be rocking this in the summer!
