Te Dire Oui V.H.

Firstly the brand D’Orsay is unknown in my country, maybe only few perfume collectors would know. I just stumbled upon it when window shopping in Milan, let’s just say I didn’t buy it the first time, I knew I would regret not buying so I went back to the same store and made the purchase. That’s how much I fell head over heels with this. Honestly I couldn’t even pronounce the name of this specific perfume, but who cares? Would I buy it again? Yes and yes! I would travel back if I had to. The compliments we receive when wearing this is amazing.

this is one of my favourite leathery scents ever. so elegant, mature and beautiful. the story behind fragrance is also stunning - a love that means devotion, overcoming obstacles. exactly like this scent it is not easy, but so beautiful, when you got to understand it. but i have to say - V.H. is for people who loves smoky and leathery scents.

the smell is intensely reminiscent of brussels airport in a very positive way. i quite like this, it does not have the same sweetness and depth as some other similar scent e.g. amouage purpose, instead (this perfume was designed to recreate the scent of henna being applied before a marriage ceremony) it has a certain clean and chemical sterility characteristic of strong dyes and bitter leaves that pierces through the nose upon closer inspection. makes for a playful contrast between nostalgic classic aromatics and an almost-synthetic acrid scent cutting through. its spatial dimension and close-to-skin projection makes for an entertaining fantasy of someone leaning in for a hug and being hit with a memory of brussels airport.

smells like an old expensive hotel with vintage interiors. tiny soap bars, silence in the corridors, carpeted floors, leather furniture, white bathroom ceramics. a bit dusty, a bit musty, but it's only because of it's age, you can smell the lingering scent of detergents and cleaning products. has a greasy, creamy bepanthen note. and i do get the band aid reference.....

This is the only D'Orsay that could be described as being even slightly bold. Unfortunately for me, the note they finally decided to go big on is one of my least favorites: leather. I don't get any of the other notes for the first half hour or so, it's just leather, but the drydown reveals the nuance once the leather calms down and then it's nice.
