Woody Sage

so far I love this perfume! I don't know if I agree with the first note being fruity - I get a slight fruit note from the opening but overall it is mostly aromatic and woody, smelling pretty much exactly like Jo Malone Wood Sage and Sea Salt but with much better performance and longevity. it's not really fig-forward to me like Diptyque's Philosykos but fades into the same kind of aromatic wood base with a soapy figness in this distance. i don't know if it's my body chemistry, the bottle i got, or both but it performs so much better than Jo Malone on me as well as other dupes like Finer'ys Before the Rainbow, both of which I could barely smell after 30 minutes (no exaggeration). i saw Wood Sage and Sea Salt mentioned in a couple different posts as suggestions for a good bedtime fragrance, as a lot of people enjoy that the scent smells spa-like. for me, I am more of a fan of the skin-scent this perfume fades to after and hour or two than the initial spray, and the faded scent is more comforting to me. with that in mind, I like using it as a bedtime scent, but usually spray in the evening rather than right before bed as the grapefruit opening has a bit of sharpness that takes some time to wear off. i like using this as a bedtime scent more than Jo Malone since the Jo Malone I can't really smell on myself very well, which makes it feel pointless to use for aromatherapy.

Now how did they DO that? As a die hard fan of Jo Malone’s Wood Sage and Sea Salt who is on his 4th bottle due to its weak performance, I am thrilled to have found this! This is an excellent dupe. First spray is almost the exact same as JM’s, then on my skin it starts off somewhat more citrus-y/sweeter but settles into a very similar dry down — and the performance is better. Now, with these kind of notes it’s probably never going to be beast mode and sit close to the skin quickly, but it does stay on the skin. I’m on hour 6 of a single spray and I can still smell if I put my nose to my wrist (would not happen with the original). I think JM’s version is a tad heavier on sage and all in all smells more refined, but that’s nitpicking at this price point. I’m supper happy and will definitely enjoy using both JM (which I always have to douse myself in and carry a small decant) and this one this summer. Very impressed with Dossier!

Very competent dupe of Jo Malone's Wood Sage and Sea Salt that has slightly more prominent fig/fruit accords and slightly less prominent marine accords. I've done a test with one on each arm and was hard-pressed to tell the difference other than performance. While longevity and sillage are still not phenomenal (3-5 hours), they are significantly better than the original (1-2 hours), perhaps because of the higher concentration; Dossier claims 18% concentration here versus Jo Malone (cologne, so probably under 5%). At less than 1/3rd the price (and with 2-3x the longevity), the value proposition here is excellent. True unisex. All ages. You can get away with this in spring, summer, or fall, although the fruit being more prominent here tilts the seasonality more towards summer than the original, IMO. Office safe, crowd-pleaser, and blind buy safe for anyone who doesn't dislike aquatics or fruit.

Smells like you just left an expensive spa with a dry sauna room. I like the original Wood Sage & Sea Salt, but unfortunately it doesn't last more than an hour no matter how much I spray. This performs way better as I usually get a solid 4 hours before it disappears. It also stays very close to the original scent profile. As someone else noted, the opening is slightly heavier on the grapefruit whereas the original is mellow and linear. For comparison, the Finery dupe goes very heavy on the fig note, almost smelling entirely of a sweet fig tree which I do not like. This genuinely improves on the original, therefore it earns 5 stars from me. Would recommend picking it up when it's on sale for ~$20 or so.

Woody Sage doesn't last long on me, but while it's there it's absolutely wonderful. It's a good thing I pretty much just wear it to bed/around the house because my nose is practically glued to my wrist for 30 minutes after applying. Initially, it's a gentle, slightly fruity, slightly herbal aquatic and it fades into what I can only describe as "just grabbed my clean sheets out of the dryer and wrapped myself in them". Just the most comforting clean laundry scent ever. Totally love it. (And thanks to B&BW's Salted Shorelines, if I DO want to try wearing it to work, I don't feel bad frequently reapplying that throughout the day!)

I’ve never smelled the original but this to me smells like driftwood and salty sea breeze. It’s perfect for going to a rocky beach on a windy day but there is also something spa-like about it. I did hope the fig would be a little stronger but it’s just in the background, adding a hint of fruitiness. Also got Dossier’s Aquatic Peony, which isn’t on here but if you like fresh, aquatic scents but want something more fruity and floral, that one is also really pretty. However, that could be considered very feminine if you care about that, while Woody Sage is absolutely unisex. I can see my husband stealing this from me.

Clone of Jo Malone Wood Sage & Sea Salt. It opens with a brief burst of tart grapefruit and a slightly green fig and a hint of sunscreen. The heart comes through quickly with a salty, airy marine accord backed by musk and ambrette seeds (had to look up the ambrette seeds). The base is herbal with clary sage and a subtle amberwood cloying as driftwood. This comes off as very unisex; in a way it reminds me a bit of D&G pour femme flankers, namely Dolce & Gabbana Light Blue Italian Love Pour Femme with how the solar accord interacts with deciduous fruit and citrus and the ambrette. I enjoyed this more than I expected.

Not a perfect dupe for JM Wood Sage & Sea Salt, but it's pretty close! This one is a bit more soapy and figgy, a bit less green and salty, but the overall vibe is very similar. Less picky noses might find them to be great dupes at initial sniff. I prefer JM overall, but I can't deny that the price of this one makes it pretty appealing, too. I love to spray this one on after I get out of the shower, it's just so clean smelling to me. Doesn't last super long so I have to reapply throughout the day but that doesn't bother me

This is an excellent dupe for Jo Malone's Wood Sage & Sea Salt. I wear this when I want to layer it with other scents so I can use the real deal on its own. My only complaint is there is a *very slight* waxy note in the dry down that tips off that this is a dupe. It's very faint and probably not noticeable to others who don't wear it frequently or aren't daily wearers of the Jo Malone version. Overall this is a really, really good scent. Fresh, airy, salty and clean, like standing in an ocean breeze.

Herb garden by the sea, late spring morning. A cold rush of air making your cheeks rosy. This is a very close dupe of Jo malones wood sage and sea salt. The only difference is this lasts longer and has a better projection (still not huge tho). A fresh unisex summer perfume that cools you down on hot days. This is a good pick for a summer scent if you don't really like tropical fruit vibes or florals but still want something that could be read as slightly femme.

First thing, it blows the og out the water with performance and longevity alone. It's a low bar comparing an EDP to an EDC but it lasts a respectable 5 hours. The only gripe I have has nothing to do with the fragrance itself but rather the idea that this is inspired by an EDC with good longevity, while Aquatic Lime is inspired by an EDT with bad longevity. Rant aside this is what I would say a good morning fragrance if that makes sense. 8.9/10

I adore this scent. Smells pretty much the same as the Jo Malone one, and for the price, you can't beat it. Lovely clean inviting aromatic smell, easy to wear for any occasion, and not overwhelming. It lasts 4-6 hours on me. I love layering it, particularly with Bleu de Chanel EDP. Gorgeous combination.

Basically an EXACT dupe of Jo Malone's Wood Sage and Sea Salt, but with WAY better performace! I own both and can hardly tell the difference aside from the longevity. The Jo Malone disappears completely on me within an hour, while the Dossier lasts overnight. At this price point, it's hard to beat!

I absolutely love this fragrance! To my nose it smells like 45% fico do Amalfi 45% Michael malul terra Nova 5% d&g K intense 5% fig man, to be very detailed. I have never smelled the jo malone. 9.0/10 * The most I've ever given a fragrance is a 9.6...

Wow, this is lovely, relaxing and reminiscent of beach vibes. I can see why people would wear this to bed. While it doesn't remind me of anything nostalgic specifically, it makes me feel nostalgic in general.

I love the scent however its projection is terrible, someone has to be very close to smell it, and it doesn't last long. After 30 min I can hardly smell it on my skin and clothes.

This is my absolute favorite fragrance, and I have about 13 of them. It’s so gently in the center of female and masculine.

This is my absolute favourite of the Dossier line thus far. Absolutely delicious.

No reason to get Wood Sage & Sea Salt with this around.

I own this fragrance and it is pretty good. I cannot say it is one of the best Dossiers out there. I can't say it is a must buy but it could be... Fragrantica got only half the notes. Dossier Woody Sage has top notes of: Fig Tree, Grapefruit; middle notes of Marine notes, Ambrette; and base notes of Clary Sage, Amberwood. Of the three missed notes, I would say it is marine. Maybe not a distinct note, but it has marine vibes. Woody Sage to my nose is a marine grapefruit open not too dissimilar to Invictus but it has a fig note that separted it from the Invictus pack and makes it more feminine and unique. The base is clary sage with some amber wood to it. I don't notice anberette in Woody Sage. I fell Woody Sage is missing something. If you add Aquatic Vanilla as a base for a layer mix to Woody Sage, you can get more from it. I feel these two are one of the better mixes you can have from two Dossier fragrances. Those two unisex fragrances work together. It lasts maybe 4/5 hours with moderate projection at first. Woody Sage even if it smells slightly feminine due to the fog is largely unisex. It can work in a number of casual settings. I do not know if it is a date fragrance but do not use this in a club. Even during summer. Dossier Woody Sage is decent for men. I do think it is better for women though. I rate it a 7.0 out of 10. Not bad for the price but I think it is more useful for women than men even if it is unisex.

I admit that I'm an oversprayer. I love to be able to really smell what I'm wearing. With Woody Sage, everyone needs to take on the spraying techniques of those of us who love to spray and spray...spray your clothes, the neckline of your shirt, the crooks of your elbows... you'll actually get some longevity and sillage if you heavily apply. The scent is absolutely gorgeous. Fig, grapefruit, sage- so clean and fresh and beautiful. If you've tried the Citrus Matcha from Dossier, it's similar with the super clean, herbal woody notes. No sweetness, no spice, just green and clean and fresh. They now have a Woody Sage Extreme version, and I'm tempted to try that one out, as it's supposedly stronger and longer lasting. For $29, this is an excellent addition, and is truly unisex.

I am usually someone who wears sweet and gourmand perfumes and wanted to finally try something different. I always liked Jo Malone perfumes but the price for the longevity is not worth it imo. To my surprise I really like woody sage. It is a very clean, fresh and unisex smell. It reminds me a bit of expensive soap, not in a negative way though. It makes you smell clean and fresh out of the shower, the addition of the grapefruit is very nice. Sadly it does not last on me or I go noseblind on this after 2+ hours. For the price that is fine, just over spray a bit or keep it in the purse :) I like to layer it with Fruity Honey from dossier, this adds a nice sweetness to it.

I like it !! I initially tested this at Target didn't buy it, but I kept thinking about it so I bought it. Very nice daily scent for the summer, smells slightly salty and citrusy. It doesn't project like crazy but I found I still catch whiffs of it even after I work out! This would be very nice for the office, smells calming and grounding and I feel like I can actually smell it unlike the OG Jo malone. Would recommend!

This reminds me of a more diluted version of sh*tty day by noyz, which is one of my favorite fragrances. Very clean, calming, almost savory, beautiful. Doesn't last long though(3-5hrs)and it also dries down to slightly have a scent of baby shampoo in the distant background.

My favorite cheap little scent. It's unique but wearable to the office, it's bright and fun without being loud. I get more marine notes than fig or salt, but never the less it's great.

i find that the muskiness comes through strong leans unisex and almost masculine great quality for the price 7.5/10

A fresh breeze of air with some juicy fig in it. On me it projects quite well for 5ish hours. I love this!

I understand the appeal of Wood Sage and Sea Salt. It is a serene salty sea shore with sea grass wavering in the fresh breeze and gently rolling blue-green waves. It also lasts one hour on the skin with a very intimate projection. Dossier’s version is less refined, less smooth, and the opening has a grittiness that Wood Sage and Sea Salt does not have. The Fig and Grapefruit smells sharp in the initial spray of Woody Sage. After the scent settles its a lovely fresh marine with a hint of salt and I cannot tell the difference between it and the very expensive Wood Sage and Sea Salt. Wood Sage and Sea Salt has abysmal performance. While Woody Sage lasts for about six hours and she projects. I can smell Woody Sage when I wear it and I do not have to put my nose to my skin to find it. Fresh and aromatic scents are not my favorite scent profile. I prefer sweeter and denser perfumes. But if you do enjoy that profile, especially with a marine base, I would recommend this over the scent it is duping.

As far as this being a dupe for Jo Malone, it is almost exact. However, I think I was intrigued by the name and had higher expectations for this perfume. As others have said, it does open up harshly; the most prominent note by far is grapefruit and salt, which does give it a harsh, cleaning-product-like smell. As it settles on the skin, it calms down and becomes more blended, though the grapefruit note prevails. There is honestly nothing woody or sagey about this scent. Overall, this is OK but not what I was looking for. Although I am using it, I won't repurchase it.

To me it smells like sunscreen and has a hairspray quality to it. The original is much better but i think this one will last longer. I suggest trying other stuff from this brand it's a great house and personally i think much better than arab dupes. Sadly this one missed the mark for me

i don't know reminds me of the native 'sage' deodorant which i like but it just smells like sage room freshener or deodorant and doesn't last past 20 minutes. literally no trace of it. that said i was a regift of a regift from two people who did not like it lol

Smells like an herb garden by the ocean, fresh salt air and sage leaves crushed between the fingers. It’s a unisex scent, leaning slightly masculine.

Smells a bit bleachy on my skin, lasts ages and is strong. It literally smells fun but I can't seem to get on with it idk why

Just so much more figgy compared to WS&SS. It's very salty smelling. Not quite Jo Malone but recommended.

This smells like a cleaning product on me and not in a good way. I kept getting whiffs and wondering what harsh cleaner I was smelling then I realized it was the perfume I had on.

Smells like vodka at first, never tried anything like it and my friend used to be an alcoholic. I would say it's worse because by smelling vodka you know it will be vodka, but perfume? No, no.... Just bad, even after the dry down. Nothing like fig, just warm and for sure not this fresh-fun-summer-vibe I wanted.

This came in an order of my first 2 Dossier fragrances. Do you know that green tube of Comet powdered floor cleaner with bleach? After about an hour, that is the exact smell I get from this. It's a shame because initially I was feeling it. Thankfully the other one I purchased smells fantastic.

I bought this because I really like Wood Sage & Sea Salt but not for the price since it's not even an edp but a cologne! This is an excellent dupe, it smells exactly like it. Definitely better than other dupe I've smelled from Finery. This is such a fresh clean scent. It doesn't smell too salty or fake overly aquatic like Salt Air by Skylar for example does. Just a sophisticated chic minimalistic scent. The fig and grapefruit comes in at first spray but disappears quickly. Then it's just clean fresh notes. I hate the hot weather we've been having but this is the best perfume for it! Soo refreshing to smell! It doesn't have the best lasting power but it still lasts better than the real thing.

I blind bought this. I’ve had good luck with a few other Jo Malone offerings an by the notes, I should love WS&SS. I don’t like Dossier Woody Sage AT ALL. The citrus is cheap, synthetic and sour the way a margarita coming back up is sour. It really ruins the fragrance for me. It’s smells like a cocktail left overnight on the railing at some seedy dive bar in the tropics. Sour and off. I bought a 9ml of WD&SS to compare to the Dossier version. Jo Malone’s is better, it lacks that almost bile sour note of the Dossier, but it’s not a profile I like either way.

For me, dossier is generally very successful with duping and this one is no exception. It's a very good substitute! Comparing side by side to the original, I think the original JM is a tad sweeter, and the dossier is maybe a bit more tart grapefruity. Overall very close, I think the dossier actually lasts slightly longer.

Smells the EXACT same as Jo Malone’s Wood Sage & Sea Salt with the exception of the opening. The OG’s opening is more mellow and smooth, while this dupe is a bit sharper. Despite that, I’d save the overall smell is 95-99% accurate; get this if you can’t find the OG at a reasonable price.

With this I realized I don't like aromatic fragrances, I don't like citrus either. Smells like this scene: (you get a whiff of the bathroom air after you washed your hair with a herbal essences botanical shampoo, the bedroom is foggy because its cold and its rainy/cold outside).

On the test strip this smelled fresh, lovely and uncomplicated. But on my skin I’m getting vintage bathroom products which is not my favorite. My partner said it’s soapy, which I get but it’s not in the usual way, more like something that fragrances soap from the 80s.

Missed the mark. The notes are the same, but they are just not the same thing. The Bath and Body works dupe was way better, in the air we thought that one was super similar.
