Cannabis Patchouli

Well it doesn’t smell like weed, but it does smell great. This is bringing exactly the best aromatic parts of G Water and turning the volume up from 2 to 6. It’s green. It’s wet. It’s a Pacific coastal forest first thing in the morning after the marine layer has burned off and the sun is shining but it’s still chilly out. The greenery is glistening, practically glowing and the softest breeze keeps the air circulating without moving anything but the tall native grasses. This is the forest at Point Reyes after spending a cold night at Sky campground, crawling out of your cozy tent and heading down to get some fresh water for coffee. Nothing here screams masculine to me, it’s genderless and smells equally awesome on both me and my husband. Do I wish it were a bit louder? Yes. Do I wish it smelled like weed? I dunno, because it is what it is and what it is very calm, naturalistic and meditative and perfect in its own quiet way.

Opens with nutty, seedlike cedar scent with a hint of skin scent musc. Develops into a bitter incense. After warming up, it softens and musk starts to peek through. Afterwards patchouli takes the stage, which is the part i love. It still has a soft woody musk undertone. It gets a bit boring and close to the skin then and not much happening after that. Dry down is a angular, high quality musk. Bitter, medicinal, severe. It gives older daddy vibes. However, there’s a sense of softness above all the bitter severity. But after 30 minutes or so, all the complexities leave and all you got left is softness. I like the scent from afar, not so much up close. I’ve definitely smelled this from other brands before so not sure if the price point is justifiable. Does not smell like weed. Moderate sillage, moderate longevity

Cannabis patchouli is astonishingly good. I've remarked previously about the smoothness and refinement in this line of perfumes, and it occurs to me now that what sets DVN apart, is that they achieve that smoothness without resorting to sweetness. This fragrance is so mature, woody, green, and mossy that it shouldn't be my thing - and it isn't, at least not to the extent that I would purchase - but it also demonstrates to me the apex of such a note profile. Other patchouli-forward perfumes have performed too green, too spicy, or too warm for my taste, but I honestly cannot fault Cannabis patchouli. This is a fragrance confident in itself, with no excesses in any direction. The scent bubble is a calming wood-and-incense space, like being in a Finnish sauna. Longevity around 5-6 hours.

I’m not an experienced reviewer, but I genuinely don’t understand the negativity in some of these comments. A few people describe this as boring and honestly, that makes no sense to me. Boring? If this is boring, then I must be able to fly. There is absolutely nothing average or dull about this fragrance. It’s distinctive, beautiful, and incredibly refined. The notes are perfectly blended, creating an intoxicating, almost addictive scent. To me, this is the kind of fragrance you wear on a night out, when you’re dressed with intention, feeling confident, sexy, and stylish. It makes you feel attractive and slightly edgy, and most importantly, unmistakably unique. No one else will smell like you.

This fragrance has me in a trance. It’s not pretty or dramatic, demanding attention. It’s subtle and wild... a little dirty from the patchouli. The dry down is soft and beautiful when the warm musk melds into your skin. There’s an earthiness, a dampness, but also a hidden sensual note. The hint of cedar makes you feel like you’re in the woods at night, not far from the ocean. I have fragrance allergies, yet this doesn’t heighten my sensitivities at all. To me, it’s a comforting scent.

This is like a relaxant in a bottle—very calming, tranquil and zen. I find it quite translucent for a scent titled cannabis and patchouli. You really don't get the heavy pungency here. The floaty quality is certainly reminiscent of Terre D'hermes. The dry down is quite different to the opening however; goes from a green fresh aromatic opening to a thin whispery iso e super like musky woody dry down.

I got scared when I sprayed it on paper because it had a very intense zaza skunk smell, hence the name BUT the bark was bigger than the bite, on skin it’s a well pronounced, masculine, earthy, patchouli focused beauty. Every element works together perfectly, the synergy of the bergamot and the incense note is so good!!! I would probably wear it for a night out.

Don't be put off by the opening! Cannabis Patchouli completely changes from a sharp fresh medicinal green opening to an incense woody base note and remains subtle in projection for a while. It is also surprisingly light and airy for a patchouli.

Green, wet, earthy vetiver patchouli scent that somehow smells like soil, damp earth, grass, and woods. The dry down is however quite powdery and musky.

This is so good to me. It's a very palatable green earthy woody experience, and certainly has a smokey edge. I honestly don't get cannabis, but it is a beautiful interpretation. I'm sampling it for the second time. I got a smell that reminded me of that Dior Sauvage EDT dry down at some point. Probably ambroxan? It also reminds me a bit of Encre Noir, but way more enjoyable. I first sampled it months ago, and it was fighting for my top 3 from Dries. The notes seem so designer, I'm surprised by the reviews. I've got a 5ml decant now, so I might update my review if I change my mind. I can't say it's worth the premium price yet.

It's a very green smelling fragrance. It reminds me of Creed Aventus in a way, but more elegant. It's soft, yet manly. No cannabis notes, though; and I don't think this is a unisex fragrance either, more male. I'd wear it on any normal day, to work, or doing whatever. Lovely fragrance. I wouldn't wear it to a night out, I think it would fall a bit flat. 7.8/10

Similar to TDH but less fresh. I get a slightly cannabisish scent but not overwhelming at all.

This perfume is still more of a masculine story.

Oh god! Here we go...another cannabis fragrance. (I wish I could use the eye roll, yawn, or flip the bird emoji on here right now) However, it's not quite the tale of woe I figured it would be, that insipid, spicy, vegetal cannabis smell of a billion and one trendy and late to be trendy brands have incorporated into their repertoire in recent years. The reason it passes muster with me is the open admission of patchouli as the other dominant force in this fragrance and it's much better for it let me tell you, and that's why it doesn't get my wrath. The other reason is that the patchouli element, especially opening actually makes a pleasant and intriguing combo with the weed smell, and it's not the most annoying accord either. As it settles though the cannabis comes in and serves to sort of taint the patchouli a bit, but I suppose it kinda has to flip to give both aspects, given that it's called cannabis patchouli... duh! It continues to flip and flick between the two, which neither makes for a boring patchouli or irritating cannabis dominant perfume. All in all, I thought it was quite clever to pit perhaps the hippiest two notes/materials/accords whatever against or allied ith each other. I might just be going soft in my old age but I think the perfumer manages to soften it an create a much better perfume than I was anticipating. On a personal level I don't ant to smell like a kinda ok patchouli fragrance & definitely not like cannabis in the vegetative stage (or any other stage to be honest) so it's not for me, but I can still see a degree of merit in it. Might be for someone who likes the idea of earthy, green and cannabis as a perfume but doesn't like what the others offer, but also likes a bit of patchouli too. Worth a sniff.

This, to me at least, smells like you have just lit a joint, the woody and smoky scents and all. The angel says I should not wear this in public (or at home), given cannabis is not legal where I live, and I'd risk being evicted from my apartment or being arrested if anyone gets the wrong idea. But, man, the devil wants me to wear this to just mess people up.

Cedar. Patchouli obviously. Not smelling any weed. Why is it still so fucking sweet? Aftershave. Super woody. A little warm. Who is this for? It's generically masculine but it's so sweet good lord. I don't think this needs to exist.

Smells a bit like Vicks VapoRub

The most masculine of the DvN family. A solid-bodied dry, mossy musk with vetiver in spades. There’s cannabis in the mix, especially on first waft, but it soon matures from burning leaf into smooth hemp oil. However, hours later, is stays * just * weedy enough that if I came home smelling like this in high school, I’d have some explaining to do. It’s not offensive, but was probably the scent that jived with me the least. Longevity: I couldn’t handle any more than 4 hours, though I’m sure it lasts for much longer Mental Snapshot: You’re a businessman that hotboxed in his BMW three hours prior. When Cecil from accounting asks what you’re wearing you say it’s patchouli. (Cecil wouldn’t know a patchouli if it bit him on the ass). Kurt from marketing knows, though. He gave you an appreciative nod in the elevator. tl;dr: four-hundred and twenty, blasé it 🍁💼

A provocative name to make the pearl clutchers gasp! But really, there isn’t much ‘cannabis’ to this fragrance. It’s an acidic green on top, and a rich vetiver below. I’m not the biggest fan of this fragrance, I can only imagine an overdose of Vetiver and Patchouli extractives lead to a somewhat muddied character in the mid, and not in a petrichor mud way, just a flat, static ridden body of fragrance. Definitely a more unique fragrance, but I don’t think the time was considered for overall drydown. It feels like the focus here was, ‘just get me a bitter green vetiver and let’s called it we*d’

The notes sound great on paper, but for me, this is a subtle why-bother, in the same spirit as the rest of the blended, smooth, inoffensive, delicate Dries line. I don't think I can fairly evaluate the craftsmanship because the style is so disjunct from my own. To the extent that I can smell this at all, it smells Almost But Not Quite Entirely Unlike Cannabis. (Meanwhile, King Cobra from Zoologist smells exactly like it, proving that realistic cannabis scents are in fact possible.) A more accurate name for this one might have been "Herbs Nearby."

I wanted cannabis and patchouli but I mostly get vetiver and bergamot. Vetiver is one of those notes that always overrides every other note for me; when it's there, it's all I can detect/focus on. So I don't know if other noses would read this the same way. It's doubly disappointing because I wanted to love this so I would have reason to buy that beautiful bottle, but I'm gonna have to pass on this one.

It's super intense at first sniff. A bit aggressive, but calms down a bit. This screams middle aged hippie dude with long dreads and a tie dye tee and birkenstocks, but wearing a louis vuitton messenger bag. Definitley more masculine. I had to go wash it off immediatley because it was reminiscent of a bad trip at a Phish concert.

I get the comments about Terre d Hermes. They are pretty similar. What I also get on my skin is this Joop homme bitter medicinal dentist cabinet smell. Idk if it’s only me or but I don’t like this one! For the price it’s a pass.

Very green, but not cannabis green, and lots of vetiver. It honestly reminded me of the smell of generic Mountain Dew that has gotten hot and gone flat. Fortunately I either went nose blind to it or the scent didn’t last more than 4 hours on my skin. I only had a sample, but I will not be finishing the sample. Definitely, for me, the worst of the edp line/sample set.

Working my way through the little sample kit from Dries with the mini daubers. I am sorry, this is everything I hate about patchouli dialed up to 1000. Sharp, medicinal, & green, I literally recoiled from it on paper.

This is greener version Terre d'Hermes, the combo of patchouli / Vetiver / cedary ISO e super. Nice but not necessary for the niche line.

...omg Did Dries van Noten really make one fragrance (named Voodoo Chile) which smells almost entirely of patchouli, cannabis (and rosemary), while also releasing this scent, Cannabis Patchouli, that does NOT contain a noticeable cannabis note. ...Yes, yes they did. So what does Cannabis Patchouli smell like? Well, ...after the very peppery opening, the next stage evokes the uncanny scent of children's chewable vitamins. ...but after a few minutes, that unwelcome surprise settles down, and one gets mostly a peppery blend of cedar, and sage. There is also a little patchouli and vetiver in there too, but it still doesn't smell like any kind of ganja, ...which is totally fine with me. So anyway, after that unfortunate Flintstones chewable moment, this fragrance is basically an anodyne peppery-woody scent. Pleasant enough in the drydown, but not remarkable, ...and very misleadingly marketed.

Without reading any of the reviews, or looking at the "reminds me of" section, Cannabis Patchouli is an enjoyable vetiver and patchouli forward scent that attempts to (in a roundabout way) mimic the stankiness of weed. In the first twenty or so minutes, it does succeed. It captures the sweet & woody nectar feel of a good quality, freshly ground pinch of cannabis. However, after a while, it becomes a smoky vetiver with a slightly rough texture that sounds like cannabis, but just isn't. Maybe it's that slight weed scent that you can detect on a seasoned smoker's clothes after several hours, but not really. If the name didn't include "cannabis", I wouldn't mind, but I really wanted that stinky weed scent. Mostly because I don't smoke anymore. I really don't hate it, but it's not what I expected.

This was my second favourite from the discovery set after Rock the Myrrh. This would be fantastic if you're on the look out for something earthy that has a bit of a hippie feel to it. When first sprayed, as much as I personally love the scent it made me wonder if it would be too much for those around you to be able to wear on a regular basis, however once it dries down the scent settles and isnt as loud. It dries down to an earthy, herbal patchouly scent with a touch of citrus to give it some brightness, I even smelt a touch of muskiness in the dry down. Do I want a full bottle, the jury is still out, But very tempted, as it's a very special fragrance

Wow, I am impressed. This is so revolting. This is an atomic patchouli with all the dirty aspects of the scent amped 100%. Eww, the vetiver and sage also come to make more green noise. There is something really hideous in the background, almost like rotten onions. Wow. I am impressed. This is how a perverse serial killer might smell on the worst nightmare...how gross! Cannabis is not mentioned on the pyramid note but something here definitely starts smelling like a dude that uses cannabis and doesn't take showers often. What a scrubber.

Almost bought a new release by Dries Van Noten called ‘Bois Defendu’ but then noticed that this is in the same bottle design & has the same notes as Cannabis Patchouli so seems like they have just changed the name for some markets where ‘cannabis’ in the title may cause some problems. Glad i noticed before i bought it !

Terre d’Hermes meets Mugler’s Angel EDT. Powerfully green and woody with a realistic cannabis as if you were smelling it out of the jar at a dispensary. Edit: Turns out the Mugler Angel EDT comparison was coming from Rock The Myrrh that I had sprayed on a piece of paper. I kept getting wafts of it from time to time.

It ought to be illegal, and IS false advertising, to name a fragrance after a note that the fragrance does NOT contain!! And not, King Cobra does NOT smell like the other commentor claims. A false name like this makes me never want to ever try ANYTHING from a house that has no issues with dishonesty.

I wanna like this so bad but it’s just so so boring and generic. Trying so hard to seem edgy but too afraid to commit. It’s just a generic woody patchouli men’s scent. Not even an attempt at weed smell. Nobody in the reviews smokes clearly.

Way way wayyyyyyy milder than expected. Disappeared totally within 15 mins on my skin. Seemed like an ultra mild version of Kinski. Tried boosting it with layering Molecule 03 - that totally killed it !

If anything I smell sage and vertiver much more than cannabis. It is a creamy-woody, slightly earthy barber shop like, comfy male scent. Patchouli is not overwhelming and I like it just not for myself.

smelled it at the antwerp flagship store. its the best of all releases in my opinion. very rough and masculine

I love it! Not so much cannabis here but I got a light lavender vibe after a few hours.
