Orange Smoke

This beautifully bottled Dries van Noten range of fragrances is certainly eye catching, but it’s the two more modestly priced (though still not cheap), eaux de toilettes - of which this is one - that impress me the most. Soft and clean, with much more neroli than smoke, it’s a lovely, summery, easy-to-wear fragrance that’s unisex and highly versatile. Although quite pricey (currently £150 at Selfridges, who have it exclusively in the UK), the bottles are a huge 200ml and on me the fragrance lingers for a good 4-6 hours, which is better than many of my eaux de parfums. And the bottle is stunning - a heavy-based ombré glass creation that blends seamlessly, sunset-like, from pink to yellow. I was excited about the new DvN eau de parfum range when I first saw pictures of the bottles, and they’re so striking-looking that they do overshadow the eaux de toilettes a bit, but having tried them all, I think this one and Sur Ma Peau, the other eau de toilette, are the real standouts in the range.

Undoubted orange and neroli right away. But not in an overly sweet way. Almost bitter really with green leaves and something subtly smoky. All of this swirls around with a touch of white floral, musk, and warmth. I like white florals just fine but there are so very many that most kind of blend together. This stands out with an earthy and mild smoky feeling, more smoke than incense, and I'm loving it .

It’s starts out as a sharp, somewhat bitter neroli. That sharpness stays for about 10 minutes and turns into a softer, bright neroli and orange blossom fragrance. The incense in this is very subtle and helps to ground it. I am an orange blossom nut, so I’m really tempted to purchase a full bottle. It’s a beautiful, fresh neroli and orange blossom fragrance that is uplifting.

A Slightly medicinal orange blossom. A load of neroli and orange blossom backed up by some resinous and smokey notes. The opening really does smell like the hotel lobby in a warm place, like miami or mexico. Slightly feminine but a guy could wear this. Better then neroli portofino in terms of price and i think in terms of scent its better as well, so I recommend.

Nice scent with great dry down and decent projection and below average longevity (but i could try this again ij warmer weather), but at the price its not full bottle worthy and not the first choice amongst the other Dries perfumes. No brainer purchase if priced right though.

When I re-opened my Fragrantica account earlier this year, I decided that I'd rarely write negative reviews and this perfume is making that hard. There are positives but the negatives, in my opinion, far outweigh them (including the extremely high price tag that doesn't match the quality of the scent). The positives: the name is suitable, and you do find yourself smelling for more... even if what you smell is pretty ordinary. The smoky, scratchy vetiver & incense smoke notes are pretty heady. The negatives: it's so beige, so ordinary, so uninteresting. It's mainly a neroli, orange blossom, petitgrain, incense resin & smoke perfume. This can be explained by it being an edt but it's still not an excuse. I'd buy it for about $100 less. But for $390... it's insulting. There's so many better ones in the line. At the end, I decided that it wasn't the best representation of the Dries Van Noten line. I soldiered on and found ones I love way, way more. Try this if you love incense & citrus fragrances, you may have a totally different experience. Might make a really nice summer scent if you wanna smell a little different, but not too much. The longevity was actually pretty decent, the sillage was average. Just like the fragrance. Oh well... 1 "like, kinda" out of the 6 I've tried so far isn't bad at all.

A smoky orange, that’s novel. I chose this as part of a discovery set because I was intrigued, but I’m totally let down. It’s a suds-dud (excessively soapy, therefore lands with a thunk). All I can think is that it smells like the kind of horrible liquid soap you might find in a Holiday Inn or someplace.

On tissue paper I only get neroli mixed with something sweet and resinous; no smoke at all. Before trying it, I thought "hmm orange blossom and incense(frankincense)? OMG I have to try this right now!!" Well, yeah, disappointed. Smells of food quality, if any consolation. I will have to try on skin and see... Edit The more time passes the sweeter it becomes; this is not what I was looking for at all. Again, it really smells like a quality scent, but only if you like your orange blossom scent to be sweet. An unfortunate pass.

Fortunately, the incense is not noticeable. I'm not a big fan of Incense because we used to have it naturally from burning the incense on the charcoal in Middle East, so we are not preferring the liquid form of it. Back to orange smoke, its fresh citrus flowery neroli make your day so energetic. the bottle for daily use. very morning perfume. I don't consider it a cologne. it has au de toilet features.

t’s a weird one. I get Neroli soap with what first smells like sandalwood incense,but morphs into clear churchy spikenardy incense. And Neroli. It it an odd blend. I think I like it, but it’s so odd. It never fully melds but it doesn’t argue with itself either. If it blended better on my skin, I think this would be a love, but it stays separate like two different perfumes worn at the same time.

This smells like a beautiful soap!!!! you will smell like you took a shower and didnt rinse off lol
