Sur Ma Peau

Smells like sitting on the patio eating dinner with your partner or friends after a long day walking around the city. The citrus woody perfume you sprayed on earlier before heading out now mixed with the slightly salty, very human smell of your skin after kicking up a bit of a sweat throughout the afternoon. The night is young. scent breakdown - Opens up with a super unique mixture of bright, creamy bergamot + orange blossom contrasted against some pencil shavings-esque woody vetiver, very bold and punchy off the rip. As it begins to dry down, the creamy citrus + white florals mix with some dry vanilla and a slight bit of unlisted fresh spices like pepper and cumin which add an odd slightly salty, skin-like accord. Not a ton of variation after the skin accord and vanilla pop out, but the focus never really leaves the bergamot and white florals until the deep deep dry down. personal thoughts - One of, if not the oddest designer scents I've tried in a very very long time. I was sort of taken aback when trying this the first time as the savory, saltiness is really jarring when you go in expecting a bergamot and vanilla fragrance, but it's kind of addicting to me now. It's kind of hard to point to analogs on the market right now, but if you've ever had salted vanilla ice cream and smelled it, that's a good place to start to sort of understanding the salty sweet consistency that makes this fragrance unique. The best part about it is: IT WORKS. If you like your sweetness with a bit of salt or savory-ness, this might be worth a check out. I've been really blown away by DVN's catalog, and it's slowly climbing up my personal ranking of designers to the top 5. Every single one of their scents (save for cannabis patchouli imo), are fairly unique and yet fairly wearable/easy to wrap your head around. This one took me 10 or so wearings before it clicked with me, but I cannot recommend it enough, top 5 from the house. performance - Really amazing performance for an EDT with 8-10 hours solid arm length + projection and another 2-3 of intimate wear. rating - 8.7/10. Signature Scent Worthy when to wear - Early dinners and drinks downtown with friends and loved ones; Fall days strolling around a harvest market, the crisp autumn air covering you like a blanket; Late spring cleaning days when you feel like you want to reorganize the entire layout of your room. song vibe - Shame by Zhane TLDR - Fresh Bergamot + Creamy Orange Blossom + Woody Vetiver + Dry Vanilla + Distinct Salty skin-accord. If you're looking for a vanilla in the hotter weather that's unique, fun, and yet dashingly dirty, this is a good one to try. Takes a while to wrap your head around the salty, sweet, and clean combo, but after awhile it'll become one of the most addicting scents in your collection. One of the very few cumin fragrances that gets an A+, let alone a pass from me.

The last perfume I bought before this one was 130 (local currency) and I thought that was a fair bit. Then I smell this while waiting for assistance in a store and I fell in LOVE. I thought I might get a decanter or sample online because it is almost 400 (local currency) which is insane to me to spend on a perfume when I already have so many at various price points (I think aside from this one, my most expensive perfume is Coco Mademoiselle which is almost half the price of this one). The reviews on this page were so helpful in convincing myself not to buy it but unfortunately I was back in the same store a day later and sprayed my wrist. I was beating off compliments all day with a STICK. I have never once been complimented on my perfume aside from when I've asked someone "oh, hey what do you think of my perfume?" I bought it the following day. I smell amazing and I have to resist walking around and obnoxiously sniffing myself. I do have comments though that might help others: - Idk where the hell DvN got that this is a unisex fragrance. Yes a man could totally wear this and smell great. But there is definitely a femininity to the vanilla and orange blossom combo despite it being a more mature vanilla. There is still a sweetness to this. - I would not say this is linear but the changes are subtle and almost continuous. If you like stronger perfumes with intenser notes, and EDPs over colognes and EDT then this might not feel like good bang for your buck. - It DOES last well though which is great because my skin can dissolve a lot of lighter-weight perfumes within an hour. Sillage also decent but not offensively intrusive or anything. - There is a lingering secret note not advertised and while waiting to purchase this I smelled a few other EDP offered by DvN and smelled it there as well. I'm not sure how to describe it, but it's very faint and comparatively linear to the rest of this perfume. The best way I can describe it is if someone made a menthol smell that had no mint. I assume it's part of the carrying oil, possibly the coumarin in the ingredients that is contributing the Tonka Bean note but is noted can also be part of lavender and mint notes. Idk if this would be as obvious to everyone but it is to me so I'm sharing that.

I received a sample of this with my recent order and I was intrigued at first smell. I knew I had to wear this after I first sprayed it on my forearm. I fell in love as soon as I wore this properly for the first time! I have found myself craving this scent over the last couple weeks, and I am wearing it for the second time today. I now know this will DEFINITELY be a full bottle for me! lol These two opposites of fresh bergamot and warm vanilla are blended so harmoniously in Sur Ma Peau. I swear I get a hit of dopamine each time I smell how the freshness and warmth blend together throughout the day. After about 6-7 hours the vanilla becomes more of the star, but I can still smell the orange blossom and vetiver grounding the fragrance. Performance is absolutely BEASTLY especially considering this is both a citrus and an EDT! I get nostalgic Christmas vibes each time I smell the fragrance, but I wouldn't categorize this into a "winter" fragrance only by any means. Such a unique vanilla that I can see myself wearing year-round. Unisex for sure! Update: 1 day later and I have my bottle on the way! Cannot remember the last time a fragrance got me so excited and am looking forward to my new samples as well! lol

This scent is addictive. That's the best way to describe it taking into account that I can't stop reaching for it despite not finding it exactly pleasant. It is not unpleasant either, it is hard to describe. Overall I enjoy it, but, as have been mentioned before, there is something funky, animalic, dirty on it. I am not sure what is it, maybe the vetiver. It is not a BAD smell, just smell "human" (like saliva or sweat, not necessarily stinky, but human). It almost smell like the body of someone you love, and whose scent you love: salty, animal, but also warm and familiar. But, even with that note that bothers me, I keep getting whiffs of this perfume and thinking how good it smells. It is citrusy, woody and herbal. Light and bright, but quite noticeable for an EDT. The profile is similar to Tilia's but without the potent yellow flowers. This perfume attracts me a lot, but I'm not sure if it is something I would wear or I just want to sniff from my wrists.

The opening is very similar to Tuberose Astrale and this is how you know the nose to this is Quentin Bisch; I am not a fan of this opening but this quickly turns into a very pleasant, mildly sweet and fruity scent. It’s so pretty I can endure the (thankfully short lived) intense, almost peppery opening. This one is a keeper.

Like it! But not so easy to understand. What I smell more is a light but sure animalic note. I do not see any musk on the notes, so I believe that's coming from the orange blossom (very indolic) maybe married with the tonka bean? The fragrance is very well blended as I cannot recognise any of the official notes individually. That's really good and some way sexy. Sur ma peau is one of the two Eau de Toilette (with Orange Smoke) released last year from Dries Van Noten with 10 Eau de Parfum. I agree with @Heliotrope22 who wrote a review for Orange Smoke: the two Eau de Toilette are the most interesting offers among the whole line... I prefer Sur ma peau which I find warmer and male-ish. Very intimate, conceived for layering but also possible to wear it alone, not sure about longevity as I have just tested twice on my wrist. Tempted to buy a FB... 200€ for 200ml, not given but there is worse. PS I have bought it. Then I found Orange Smoke hard discounted and got it too. They are both short-lived but have personality and are really enjoyable.

This is an interesting one! It's quite potent as an EDT. It's not something that can be worn on a daily basis, at least not all people surround you can appreciate the scent, so the 200ml bottle can iterally last lifetime... It starts with very pungent citrus, sour and warm at the same time. Then it smooths out. I got vanilla, something resinous with a tad greeness in the background. I think I can smell frankinsence too.There is an underlying animalic tone to it, but in a good way. I got the YSL Babycat/Caftan vibe from this perfume. Overall, I like this creation, but I won't wear it myself.

Since the first sniff and i feel like I own something pretty similar to Sur ma peau. Few hours later, I found the answer, it’s Narcisio Rodriguez Musc Noir Rose. I had a spray at each arm and it’s bloody surprising the similarity despite the vanilla is the only common notes between the 2 fragrances!!!!

sweet, really pretty, something grainy there...like buttered popcorn, or a puppy's paw. A mature vanilla.

I really like the opening of this - on me it's slightly medicinal with a tiger balm quality to it, but only in a good way. I find it quite calming and refreshing at the same time. But after an hour or so the freshness starts to fade away, and what's left on my skin feels like a unaired cardroom and I get a little nauseous from that. I guess I just don't like tonka beans so much :P I wish I could like it.

This is pretty but I can’t smell it on myself. I just seem to go nose blind to it although others have commented that they can smell it when they walk in the room. I have a decant of this and although I’ll enjoy using it the fact I cant smell it means that I won’t be upgrading to a full bottle. I am a sucker for orange blossom fragrances though.

I agree with the previous comment that this smells very close to Fleur de peau from Diptyque. However this one is a bit bizarre, because when I put my nose on my skin, I can smell the beautiful vetiver and bergamot, it’s lovely. But the second I move my nose more than 5cm away from my skin, the scent changes to Fleur de peau, which smells very outdated to me. I don’t know what is wrong with this fragrance, that it smells differently based on the distance from the skin, but for that reason this is unwearable for me sadly.

I keep reading all these enthusiastic reviews and honestly wonder if we’re even talking about the same fragrance. I received it as a sample with another purchase, and this is probably the first scent from DVN I simply don’t understand. To my nose it feels very clearly masculine - extremely green and cologne-like. I don’t get any vanilla or white florals at all.

I tried to like it, but it didn't work well with my skin chemistry. It developed an unpleasant odor, resembling the scent of someone who hasn't showered in months. I can tolerate a bit of skankiness on my perfume for special occasions, but this was definitely not a good one for me.

LOVEEEE!!!! y’all i have been collecting perfumes for about 5 years now and i have come across some amazing brands and some amazing fragrances some that i absolutely can not live without but dries van noten has completely won my heart truly. soei malaqauis was my first purchase from this brand this year and im already more than halfway through my bottle. i forgot that they sent me a few samples with my order and smelt them again recently and my oh my this is so good. it gives me the same exact feeling soei malaqauis gives me but with a totally different scent profile. something about the dna in dries van notens perfumes makes my heart flutter. its gives me that feeling when you have a big crush on that special someone and you know they feel the same about you. (If that even makes sense lmfao) i have said this before and ill say it again. if i had to choose one brand and stick with it dries van noten has a loyal supporter and i wouldn’t have any regrets. Overall 100/10!! The notes don't make a whole lot of sense to me. This one opens extremely spicy, and then dries down to something really similar to Diptyque fleur de peau. Fleur de peau is also quite spicy, but that one is pink pepper, whereas this smells like something from my spice rack. The spice dies down quite a bit after a while but it's still there. I actually removed this not long after spraying it on my skin because I didn't like the spice, but that didn't put a dent in it. Much like fleur de peau, this stuff is extremely strong. It's not really my vibe. If I wanted a scent like this, I would choose fleur de peau.

Unique as heck Really warm well blended super powdery soft masculinity type of scent I don’t usually like vetiver but sur ma peau...This is what i call vetiver Not that depressing encre noir vetiver note Here it’s balanced powdery creamy dry irisy vetiver so so good for anyone 25+ Truly smells unique and powdery to the point of getting a noticeable iris note I don’t wear these type of scent im a more floral person but cannot deny this is an absolute masterpiece

For an EDT this is very potent and has an amazing scent trail. It does remind me slightly of The Forward but that one has a salt note and more citrus. This is more about the vanilla, tonka and a bit of orange blossom. I actually don’t like orange blossom but it’s not a huge amount. There was also someone below that said it smelled similar to NR Musc Noir Rose and I can actually see that. I’m not sure what it is but it has sort of the same base.

Oh my! Love at first sniff 🤍 This, to me, is Marc Antoine Barras’ ‘Tilia’ minus the Linden (lime blossom), another stunning creation from Quentin Bisch. It also reminds me of Van Cleef and Arpels ‘Neroli Amara’. It is so divine. I received a sample today and went straight in and bought a full bottle. I urge you to try it! So incredibly beautiful ✨

The opening to me is quite waxy; my bf said it smelled like a candle and I can not unsmell it. It’s a nice smell though; sweet, vanilla like, comforting. Has a nice scent bubble and I keep getting gentle whiffs. When smelled up close I find it too sweet, surprisingly. 7,5/10

Hmmmm. I like the smell of this, I really do. But at the same time, I feel that it lacks panache. I want a bit more from it- maybe more personality! I get sort of Pleasant Evening Sun vibes from it. Not bad, but it leaves me wanting

Just received a sample of this. Smells animalic with perfume mixed in. I believe it’s a cumin note which often smells like body odor to me. Not a safe blind buy. Glad I got a sample. This is a no for me.

I sampled it recently and adore it. It's warm and sunny, just beautiful. If I don't already have Bal d'Afrique, I'd probably buy it. To me SMP is like older, more sophisticated sister of BdA

There's a spiciness to it that gives me "after shave" but also like I opened my spice cabinet... the florals are too mature for my liking.

This reminds me of a less cirtusy, more playdoughy version of MIND GAMES The Forward. This is really pleasant, easy-wearing.
