Grapefruit Generation

Heaven help me, I've fallen in love with an expensive perfume. On paper this scent is green and woody without much trace of citrus to my nose, so I wasnt expecting much out of it, but boy has it surprised me. As a certified citrus slut, this is wonderfully a scent that fulfills my dream of a citrus scent that actually lasts on me. It opens with a bright spritz of pomelo and a lot of greenery, spicy, woodsy, and herbaceous. As it warms and develops on my skin the grapefruit comes out, never overwhelming, but also never overwhelmed by the other notes. The elm, hawthorne, and cork add a woodsiness and spice, while the musk and floral ground and round out the brightness of the citrus. It smells like a spring day, a walk in the freshly blooming woods after a citrus snack, or, like I've been craving, the inside of a citrus tree filled greenhouse. Really wonderful in its simplicity, I'd be fascinated to layer it with a more watery or earthy scent to see if the greenhouse smell could be perfected. My only worry is that the extremely invasive and aggravating elm seed bugs will like this scent as much as I do. I'll be waiting till spring actually hits to make sure they're not drawn to it before I order a full bottle. If they are, I'll cry, but this will become a pass. If not, I'll certainly be buying this full sized.

I like this one a lot, but it's not a traditional citrus fragrance. The opening is realistic grapefruit, not super sweet which I appreciate, very well done.The drydown is super unique and amazing. I get musk which I love, and that cork accord. I've smelled cork in the past and I don't remember it having a smell when it's not soaked in wine, but I assume the tree has some sort of aroma. I feel like they built the cork accord with sandalwood and something slightly sweet, almost like honey but not quite. Perhaps beeswax. However,I have two minor gripes. Performance on my skin is isn't very good from a sillage or a longevity standpoint, so I can tell I'm going to have to spray heavy. No problem, that goes with the territory of citrus and moreso with citruses utilizing natural ingredients. My other issue is the grapefruit doesn't stick around. It literally disappears, without a trace. So when you hit the drydown it feels like you're wearing a second fragrance. That's fine, but if you're looking for a citrus experience through and through, this isn't it. All that said, I still love this fragrance and the creative perfumer behind it. Really love that one! Agreeing with neonlegs - I wish it was a bit weird and project a bit more but ultimately the tubereuse is very prominent on me so I guess this is the weird piece? I also have a feeling this one will age well. Anyway, it's very good, fun not too generic and def niche and overall a good piece to own for Spring, Summer and/or Fall. With current projection, I'd say buy it for a season, kill it and move on - but in a good way! I only got the 50ml because of that reason. If projection/longevity increase with oxidation, I'll def get a 100ml next year (and will also revisit my post). UPDATE: Layered with IDKW or CP...........WOW WOW WOW UPDATE 2: It does remind me A LITTLE BIT of GAIAC 10 after 30 min.. I'm not going to suggest it above because these have nothing in common but just wanted to throw it out there. Maybe they use the same musk(s) for the base?

I got given this as a gift and didn't expect to like it, as grapefruit just isn't my first choice, citrus-wise. But - this stuff is really good! I like how dense and dimensional this perfume is, and because the grapefruit is in the base and not just in the opening, I get to smell a wonderful, citrus-musk blend on my hair and skin many hours after the initial burst. The tuberose is very respectable and grounds the whole thing, making the whole fragrance lean seductive/sultry rather than clean/fruity. Sometimes the problem with citrus scents is that they just don't smell grown-up enough, but this one is very grown-up indeed. Like another reviewer here, I actually prefer this in winter because it reminds me of hot summer evenings.

Love this one, enough to own a full bottle and use almost daily. I tend to like it as a bright wake-up spritz on top of other scents, and it pairs well with Molecule 01 and I Don’t Know What. While this is a summery scent, I actually like it best in the winter (grapefruit season) as an antidote to the cold/gray. Depression buster. Starts with a very zingy grapefruit (almost grapefruit soda), then some white florals appear (which I don’t normally like, but it works here for me), and then a cork wood musk (very clean/white musk, I’m not getting animalic) with a hint of grapefruit til it disappears. Doesn’t last long, but works for me as a wake up/morning scent.
