Jazmin Yucatan

This is such an amazing fragrance, I really love it. The star is an extremely realistic jasmine, its nestled in a sort of watery steam. There is a sort of earthiness to it as well, which makes it smell like a real place and makes me understand the "tortilla" comments a bit though I think that is overstated in these reviews. I work near a pond with a nestle of jasmine that blooms in the spring and early summer, walking by it hits you with a sort of waft of jasmine nestled next to some water. This fragrance evokes a sort of humid jungle feel but I think it encapsulates almost anywhere it gets humid and warm. It's just very unique and evocative, which surprised me because I didn't think I liked DS Durga in general prior. I will say that the downsides are that for me, it is very weak. It has a miniscule amount of sillage and the longevity is maybe 3 hours. I am not someone who really puts a ton of stock in performance but for retail price I think that would be a dealbreaker. It will stick around a bit and then fade into itself. Considering most seem to have good performance, it may just be me and maybe the bottle needs to sit more. My skin seems to highlight the jasmine, which is a note with not a ton of staying power. Needless to say its also somewhat of a seasonal scent, its a sort of height of summer fragrance and it blooms in humidity and heat. One more thing I will say that the cap on this bottle is extremely tight and hard to get off, doesn't factor into my judgement on it but just something to note, I suppose. This is probably a brand thing in general.

As a Jasmine hater: This is actually really good! Jasmine here is soooo photorealistic, smooth and clean. Doesn't have those cig smoke and powdery notes in Jasmine fragrances that usually make me gag (no offense). Then I got fruit candy. Passion Flower naturally smells like candy and Cloves are often used in fruit-flavored candy, so that's my guess. I wish the Passion Flower was stronger so it would be distinguishable. Usually Vetiver smells sour and dry to me, but here it smells really calming and woody. I grew up with Snake Plants (Espada-de-São-Jorge) everywhere I went growing up in Brazil, I was so excited to see it being used in perfumery for the first time! It ads a nice green note to the perfume that makes it smell more like a garden of Jasmines than just Jasmines alone. Water notes are definitely here but not as dominant as users seem to think. If you like Buly 1803 fragrances and oils, you'll like this. Jazmin Yucatan smells like a sister to Berkane Fleur d'Oranger and Tubéreuse du Mexique. Really clean, soft, and innocent with that classic 'wet' Buly 1803 note. After some hours on skin, I only smell Jasmine with some Snake Plant and a bit of woodiness on the background. In short: This is so good it's the only Jasmine perfume I would ever wear. Photorealistic Jasmine flower. Clean scent that doesn't smell like soap, shampoo or laundry. Smells like I just bathed in Jasmine flowers. With 4 sprays sillage is strong and longevity is ok, 3-5hrs.

David Moltz seems to really like these swampy florals, and so do I. As soon as I sprayed it on it made me think of another creation of his, White Peacock Lily. This has a gorgeous jasmine as the star of the show and that focuses on Lily, but the very humid, earthy composition really brought it to mind. His other floral fragrance, Crystal Pistol, also has that wet profile too, but it is much sheerer than either of these. This is not a typical sweet floral. It smells like jasmine bushes growing around a swamp in the middle of a rain forest. That might sound weird, but it's actually very pretty. Yet there are enough masculine undertones here, from the vetiver and light aromatics, that keep it from being overtly feminine making it truly unisex. I'm sure this would smell just as good on a guy as it does on me now. While it doesn't last quite as long as White Peacock Lily it is within acceptable limits for me, at around the 4–5-hour range. It might behave differently and last longer in a different season. I suspect this would be fantastic in hot weather as that wet profile seems really suited for summer. While this won't replace my love for White Peacock Lily, (though it's really, really close), I like it a lot. I sure hope David keeps making florals because what he creates are so darn interesting and different yet not so strange as to be unwearable. Wow, the more I smell this the more I like it. Damn! Looks like another one headed to the fb buy list.

I love this jasmine. For me, the top notes are of quite a gorgeous yellow, a lively yellow, sun-nature, with something very round, like a passionflower fruit, indeed. It is a yellow winter jasmine, to which one would have added long pistils, really the one in which one plunges the whole nose, that one brings back home to make bouquets still with the branches - even if there are surely purists of more classic interpretations. You can also feel the little white veil, aldehyde, and some other flowers somewhere in the back at the beginning. In parallel, there is also a hint of plastic smell that I personally like a lot: it smells like the plastic skin of the Corolle babies of my childhood, like their blond hair maybe, in short, a very Proustian smell. But this aspect evaporates quite quickly and leaves room for something honeyed, more sticky, again like a stained pistil - maybe a bit of an agave aspect, after reading the other comment. What remains on the skin is a really jasmine, jasminesk, jasminy, and it stays on my skin very very well. In short, this is a perfume that I personally like a lot, and that I would recommend to any fan of this type of composition without hesitation.

I find this fascinating as an indication of how David Moltz has developed as a parfumer. Though being self-taught, this is every bit as classically gorgeous as any tropical white floral fragrance could be. I feel like I'm going him a disservice to say 'though he's self-taught' - - being self-taught or classically trained is no reflection of one's possible talents, but I feel like nobody could say this parfumer is not every bit as good as the great noses we've come to love. Of course, not everyone will love it, as not everyone can love any fragrance. But I'm so interested to see where he goes next with his creations. Though it's also clear from his other floral inventions he isn't just a one-trick 'weird-cement-wood-fire-ambrox' pony, it feels like he's levelled up somehow with Crystal Pistil and Jazmin Yucatan, at least regarding accessibility and elegance. This is a sweet, beachy floral, with a banana-esque jasmine radiant over gentle spice. It's not the most long-lasting fragrance, but I don't mind that. I guess it has a light fecund element making it feel natural. It is a little bit wheaty. The bottle is gorgeous too.

For whatever reason, the typical "aquatic" note tends to overwhelm other elements when on my skin. I had been looking for a unique and better-balanced perfume along those lines, and Jazmin Yucatan is it. Florals are very much the focus here, with an aquatic lilt from time to time, like a shady breeze. Underneath these "pretty" aspects, however, there's a sort of *funkiness* that keeps things interesting. I don't know if this is an indolic byproduct of the jasmine or something else, but the blurb isn't lying: there is a suggestion of say, the flamingo enclosure at the zoo, of water as part of a biome. There is a sense that animals live here. This should not be appealing, but it absolutely is. There are also hints of incense, although I found that either happened or it didn't. As far as use, we're talking the hotter spring and summer days, camp shirts or linen, not so much sporty fits. I personally hope this becomes an ongoing product, not just a limited edition; It's different, and I'm surprised that more people aren't talking about it.

growing up we had jasmine in our backyard, this smells like that. i’ve seen some people say it doesn’t smell realistic but to me this is incredibly spot on which gives it a happy nostalgic feeling. without thinking about my own personal memories, this perfume makes me feel like i’m a jaguar in a hot rainforest. minus the jaguar part tho i guess? it smells damp and just generally green, after a few hours the green and wet goes away snd you really just smell the jasmine and it gets a bit powdery snd more sweet. i think this is the phase where some people are getting tortilla but i don’t smell it personally. i will say when i wore this to my coffee shop job the scent turned a little soapy and almost medical office like, i kept sniffing around confused before i realized it was me. when i got home it smelled normal though. scent lasted about 7 hours on skin, 24+ hours on my shirt and jacket. i would highly recommend this fragrance and would consider it a safe blind buy if you like jasmine.

This is my first D.S. & Durga sample, and it’s a big love. I used to live on the Yucatán peninsula on isla mujeres, so the concept for this fragrance is definitely familiar. I actually find that I’m reminded some of Thailand because the jasmine sometimes has jasmine tea vibes. Jazmin Yucatán is a stunner. I sense quite a bit of copal at first, and I like it. I can smell wet rocks warmed in the sun, and snake plant. I can actually see a crocodile’s eye rising out of the water. I love a realistic aquatic note, and they nail it. There is fresh jasmine, alongside the jasmine tea I mentioned. I get some clove and passionflower, but not a lot. Just enough to balance. In the dry down, the vetiver base plays well. Ugh, I love it. I kind of hate when that happens and it’s a pricey frag, which this is. Though to be totally fair, $175 is a lot less expensive than a trip to Mexico or Thailand. Jazmin Yucatán is at the top of my want list.

This is, to me, the perfect jasmine. Ages ago, what launched me into my first fragrance obsession was smelling high-quality jasmine tea. Cheaper jasmine teas include jasmine flowers in the tea leaves. Expensive jasmine teas simply store the tea in a room *with* the jasmine, and the leaves absorb the subtle jasmine notes over time. I remember drinking this tea and thinking "I want to smell like that." Many, many sampled jasmine fragrances later, I gave up on jasmine and moved on to other scent profiles. Years later, and this is the scent that perfectly brings me back to that beautiful tea. It is a delicate, watery jasmine scent: simple but perfect. I get virtually no indoles at all, which is rare for jasmine. This is what I want my neck to smell like on a hot summer night.

if you love green and woody scents, this is for you. You will never want to wear another perfume again.Be prepared to tell all your friends about this fantastic concoction! The luscious mid notes in this gorgeous perfume are wonderfully refreshing, and my head seems to just not be able to stop moving back and forth as I take in each beautiful whiff. It's a fragrance for those who are not afraid to be bold and different, with an irresistible and intriguing cocktail of intoxicating mid-notes. I'm in love with this perfume!

Jazmin Yucatan is so evocative. It really does bring to mind a steamy jungle with crawling snake vines, exotic flower species, rain dappled canopies, and big fat frogs enchoing their ribbits through the undergrowth. A place with all the right ingredients for abundant nature, but I can see why others have also made more artificial associations with Disney Land or Zoo enclosures. It has a this addictive, slightly aquatic, almost chlorinated grapeyness that pulls the fragrance into an exaggerated fantastical space. Another fragrance I love that veers into similar territory is Seahorse by Zoologist. I recommend you check it out if you are into this kind of thing.

A pleasant, watery floral. Much nicer than initially expected. First I got a green, floral burst, and though usually these notes are too sharp and chemical for me, JY was pleasantly soft without being powdery. Then the cloves appeared and I was surprised again. Close to skin it's like chai latte. However, I think the overall tone on the fragrance is cool. The sillage is not very big. It's more like a delicate veil around you. Not super long lasting either. After 4 hours it's transformed into a sweet aquatic barely-there scent. I see this best suited for warm days when one wants something comforting, that stays cool and fresh despite the heat.

Tested this at a friend's house when I needed a scent before our night out. I loved it so much upon first spritz, that I immediately took note to purchase. Lucky for me, he gifted it to me since it wasn't his favorite. To me, it smells like a batch of my grandma's fresh jasmine oolong tea that she brewed first thing in the morning on a hot, humid day. My grandma would pick fresh jasmine from the shrubs outside and dry them via convection oven before throwing it in her tea pot of green oolong tea from Vietnam. The jasmine is just a hint amidst the presence of hot water vapor hitting the tip of your nose. This was my reminder to call her!

A gorgeous true to life, humid, and tropical jasmine fragrance. Ever so slightly carnal and dirty but not at all controversial. The watery notes add a gorgeous feeling of humidity and the jasmine is uniquely green, emphasized by the snake plant note. There’s this subtle maíz note that reads slightly salty, reminding me of fresh tortillas. Brings back memories of family vacations to Cancún and street vendors in Mexico City. Decent performance on my skin, lasts about 4-6 hours with moderate projection. Lasts forever on my clothes though, which I’m thankful for. I always find myself sniffing my wrists and shirt when wearing this.

I love Jasmine perfumes, with a few exceptions. THIS one is a unique take on Jasmine. The water notes and the vetiver add a humid, hothouse feeling to this perfume, which I love. It's like walking into a terrarium at a zoo, all humid, earthy, green and floral, with butterflies dancing around and landing on your hand. That's the memory it evokes from me. It smells just like that, a very distinct and unique scent. I didn't think I would like it this much, but it brings me joy, just wearing it. A perfect scent for warm, summer weather. Nothing too strong or overwhelming...just really really good. I will be buying this one again.

This is the most gorgeous jasmine scent I have ever come across oh my goodness. Of course the jasmine is the most prominent note of the bunch, but this beautiful green scent you get from the snake plant is just so unique. The aquatic note gives it lightness but the cloves offer it a warm complexity as well. It's definitely a spring/summer scent but it's so rich that it could be worn day or night. I smelled it in a department store, sprayed some on me, could not stop smelling my arm on the drive home, and then IMMEDIATELY purchased a full size bottle. If you are a jasmine lover like me this is an absolute must have for you.

Jasmine, honeysuckle, rivers. Calming. Delicate, wet, and beautiful. Not quite intoxicating, but alluring. Languid. One of my favorites from DS&Durga - I visited the NY store and took my time with each of them. I really love it. Got a sample, kept thinking about it, ended up getting a FB, spent most of April with it. Tried layered with Jasmine Freak per lasiren225's review, but I didn't like it. Maybe if your problem is that JY isn't sweet enough, then add /half/ a spray of JF /underneath/ it. But it still really kills some of the more delicate wet accords that I like so much - the snake plant, the shimmer, the cenote.

White and pink tropical flowers, waterfall mist, green foliage, and a smidge of dusty limestone. It does bring to mind Aztec ruins framed in flowers amid a humid tropical jungle. Great job on the uniqueness of this scent and on capturing the imagery! This perfume reminds me a bit of Chameleon by Zoologist. It isn't the same scent but it has a similar feel to it. It also reminds me of Flora Magnifica by Granado. If you love this perfume, check out Flora Magnifica. It's the same scent but with pink and red tropical flowers instead of jasmine. I'm really glad others are commenting on the tortilla notes, because this literally smells exactly like the ones I get from my local mexican place - and I love it. The initial burst of jasmine leads into this almost savoury, pleasant tortilla scent that I just can't get enough of - the jasmine remains, and they complement each other beautifully. This isn't sweet at all, which is great - I much prefer this to other tea fragrances like matcha meditation. My only gripe is that I find the scent to have minimal projection and poor longevity on my skin, I have to respray about 4 hours in - lasts far longer on clothes.

This must be my favorite jasmine that I've smelled yet. This doesn't just shine when sprayed, it sparkles. Heaviness and softness meet here to create an effect I can only call dense and feline. Louis Wain's cat paintings jump to mind. There are the recognizable cats, radiating color and looking on sweetly, mischievously, yes, but then there are the fractallic cats whose eerie stares and fiery forms lick at you coarsely. While you struggle against their edges they see through yours. This is a jungle full of puckering flower buds flooding down the tea-hot river, the air thick with steam. We stop to bathe.
