White Peacock Lily

I do not understand how/why there are so many downvotes here on the comparison to Carnal Flower. No, they aren’t identical, but this is the closest perfume I’ve ever come across that even compares. And I say this as a huge carnal flower fan who wasted sooo much money searching for smell-alikes based on fragrantica votes that resulted in nearly 50 bottles of “tuberose” perfume decluttered from my collection that smelled nothing like flowers at all. ::end vent:: This is freaking gorgeous. I don’t even recall the random browsing that put this on my radar but I discovered it less than a month ago. I owned some scents by DSD before but none were white florals, and none were so elegant. Full disclosure, I love realistic plant-y white florals. That’s pretty much all this scent is about. If you’re not a white floral fan and hate indolic scents, then move on elsewhere, nothing for you here. This never turns sour or indolic on me. It smells like wet flowers. Very realistically, like standing in a flower shop. If you told me it was the exact same tuberose extract used to make carnal flower with a touch of lily, I’d believe you. It lacks some of the green notes and coconut of carnal flower, but it has its own subtle green-ness and a dewy flower garden vibe. To me, they’re different enough to own both, but they’re nearly half sisters. Maybe cousins. I don’t mind having a large collection of scents I change every day or two. I personally now own 5 different scents that I’d put in this family and they are the prized jewels of my collection. It projects within arms reach for more than 6 hours, though it’s a softer scent and quite simple, so it’s subtle. It layers nicely and adds depth to my other fragrances. I can smell it up close for many hours after and I catch whiffs of this the next day. Great performance for a scent like this. It’s quite elegant and I’d put it in the “wedding perfume” category. It smells romantic, classic, and natural. Perfect for days spent in nature and fancy dinners, or visits to an art museum or an evening gala. Pretty and simple enough that I will also wear it on day dates to the park, afternoons lounging on the patio, date nights, and cold winter days when I’m craving spring. This is a masterpiece. Such a successful blind buy! Already adding a backup bottle to my wish list.

A home run that sent me scrambling on an immediate search for a bottle (which I lucked out on and found at a really great price). This is a flower blossom bonanza, that's airy and light, yet grounded too. It didn't start out that way though. It started out very strange, and a little hard to describe, like a dank earthiness. I just was not sure where this was going, though it wasn't offensive enough where I felt the urge to wash it off. Just a little dark and weird. Fortunately, that opening passes soon enough to reveal a beautiful floral scent. And what a scent it is. It absolutely floored me. It is the most beautiful lily perfume I have ever smelled. While the sweet oleander is wonderful, it is the Lily that steals the show. It has the most wonderful earthiness that brings to mind lilies grown in situ, with the emphasis on the sweet, creamy flowers, no doubt helped by the whipped cream. It is wonderfully accentuated with the ambrette which adds an animalic muskiness, that with the lightly indolic lily, is just enough to make this sexy. But what really sets this apart for me from other white floral perfumes is something that comes out later in the base. I've never smelled Cabreuva, and if that is what I am picking up, then I am enchanted by what it adds to this scent. It's an earthy, sweet woodiness that doesn't read like a heavy wood, barely reads like wood at all actually, but smells like the sweet smell you sometimes pick up when out in the wilderness. The sweet scent of the woods after it rains to be specific. Between it and the ambrette, it provides this beautiful musky, mossy, earthy base from where the floral notes float around it. It is just breathtakingly beautiful! And to top it all off, this has perfect silage that gives me lovely wafts of this heavenly scent all day. Considering the size of my wardrobe, it is crazy how much I adore this scent. I will definitely need a backup of this. Edit 11/12 - OMG! I have become obsessed with this scent. I can't get enough of it! It just knocked Eric Butterbaugh's Regal Tuberose out of Signature Scent place. Quite a feat, because I thought nothing could eclipse that.

This is a very friendly Lily fragrance. Not overpowering. Pretty yet seductive. This is the lady like scent for wearing at night. It's classy and exotic. Certainly an interesting combination. Forget the headache inducing plastic lilo of the oriental lilies. This is virtuous Madonna Lily. I can't really pick up the cream but I do get the fresh aquatic and grapefruit notes up front. The jasmine is very to the fore. The citrus, mellow and aquatic note lift and freshen the jasmine and Lily. They keep it cool and airy if that makes sense. Florals are tricky with me. Many start off with great promise yet fall at the dry down and others are just too much for me. It is particularly curious as I am very keen gardener and I favour all plants etc with fragrance. This doesn't alter dramatically along its timeline for which I am grateful. The Lily and jasmine wain a little and then I am a more aware of the ambrette and violet. The ambrette is the last note to fade. Im so relieve the ambrette has not ruined the scent for me on this occasion. I wish it had more sillage. The longevity is moderate. I think it's a beautiful floral and it's name really suits it.

There are three elements to White Peacock Lily. The first thing that hits you is a blue shower gel type aqua note that is reminiscent of Hermes Narcisse Bleu. A kind of fresh, neroli type feel that must be from the grapefruit, oleander and watery notes. This only lasts a minute or two. Then the fleshy ripe white flowers kick in and it is deeply floral. I'd say its 70% lily and 30% indolic jasmine but there is a green freshness underneath it all. Finally, a soft creaminess envelops everything making this smooth and supple. It's not like a cheap whipped cream out of an aerosol can, but real buttery cream you use for cooking. This part is way more savory then sweet and i find this completely unisex. The sweet floral notes are about even with the fresh watery clean notes (maybe Blue Peacock Lily would have been a better name). It wears extremely well on the skin, it kind of melts in then radiates softly for hours, a good indicator of the quality. Lots of love and hate for this one, but this get a big love from me. This was blind buy but I'll be getting a back up bottle as it's perfect choice for warmer weather. Thumbs way up.

This was an instant 'love' for me - I kept sniffing the test strip over and over, and couldn't get it out of my head...until I caved and bought it, a year later! It's a sexy-yet-classy white floral that's not too sweet. Probably more leaning on feminine, although I wouldn't consider it hugely feminine either. It's a strong lily with noticeable bitter citrus undertones (grapefruit pith and not just grapefruit, as the notes here say - it's more similar to petitgrain or neroli than straight-up grapefruit) on a soft musky base that keeps it from being too 'clean' or 'translucent'. Although it lists jasmine in the notes, I can't say I really smell it - perhaps that's what's keeping it from being too sweet, but I don't smell any of the usual indoles jasmine usually comes with. Longevity and silage are above average. All in all, a very sophisticated yet sultry smell, and very distinct. Possibly not a blind buy, but I'd happily buy again.
