Avocado Toast

TL;DR: I find Avocado Toast so amusing and also substantive in other ways. It genuinely puts a grin on my face. The opening is a green color (but not like grass) and creamy avocado and everything but the bagel seasoning and crunchy nutty toasty bread. In the dry down everything calms down quite a lot and within a short period where it is pale yet warm musk, still nutty, and softer green in the background, by which time it is still on the skin but not projecting on me which is fine for me as I don't feel like every scent I wear has to scream and enjoy different scents for different reasons. It is a quietly grounding and nourishing scent, but not a sleepy time one. The ingredients smell high quality. I dont know how else to describe it. Edit: Just want to add that though it was quiet, it did seem to last like 24 hours on papers and probably as much on my skin too which is not normal for me and definitely much longer than the other samples I was given, so if you are afraid of this scent due to staying power from other DSH scents, then maybe give it a try. The order was shipped very quickly and I am so glad I saw the reviews and decided to try it out as I have become obsessed with savory gourmand scents not so much for wearing, just sniffing, though I think this one is actually uniquely wearable for the right person and occasion, like maybe at a yoga retreat? The only thing I would say constructively (which I did not take off any stars for) is the label. I feel the logo design does not communicate the high quality of the product. I don't need fancy boxes or anything, but I think I would just update the logo and if possible have the label sticker be textured, recycled and non-bleached, matte paper, the kind you can see fibers in. And I see perhaps a water color looking design with DSH in beautiful long water color letters with a single ivy underneath, slanted. I know a niche house has to balance costs, but if any of this were possible, I hope they would try it.

A deliciously nuanced skin scent, Avocado Toast takes the buttery richness of avocado, and the creamy nuttiness of wheat, and layers it atop a pale musk base. I get the subtle nuances of sandalwood and green clover in the dry down. If you’re familiar with Dawn’s work, you know that she has an amazing depth and range with musk fragrances. Avocado Toast is, at its heart, a musk fragrance, a clean skin scent, that’s neither animalic, nor soapy, nor powdery, nor sweet. It’s both playful and very comforting. In the oil version, it’s a subtle and very personal scent. An unexpected delight!

Yes, Shenandoah, totally buttery avocado with nutty wheat toast on a tickle-the-nose your-skin-but-better sheer musk. Comes across like everyday luxury with a long lasting naturalistic composition. The idea of an avocado toast scent may be 2019 hipster timely, yet the execution of it here feels classic and not at all flash-in-the-pan clever. It's got green savory goodness and it's got comforting bread plus musk. If a mass produced brand has ad blitz promoted it, it would easily be an up swell hit. So glad I went for this!

Yummy! This is the only perfume I've ever gotten "creamy" from, even though I've tried a few milk scents. It's creamy and sweet avocado like in a smoothie, rather than smelling savory. I don't get bread or toast from it at all.

I just got a sample of Avocado Toast, and I sprayed it on paper. I let it develop for a few minutes because all I could smell at first was a powdery, mineral-y musk, with a hint of something creamy and green―must be the avocado, although I don't think I'd've recognized it as avocado without knowing the name and notes. After a little whole, it started smelling familiar. It took a minute for me to place it, but it really does have a strong resemblance to Bois Farine from l'Artisan Parfumeur. It must be the powdery, musk base, and the wheat/flour notes. I sold Bois Farine because it made me feel queasy. I haven't tested Avocado Toast on my skin yet, so I can't yet speak to how it acts on my skin or how it dries down, but for those who want to experience the classic, but hard-to-find Bois Farine, you may want to try Avocado Toast. I'd say there's an 80-90% similarity.

I don't wear fragrance for the compliments but this one never fails to get a big compliment from others if they are close to me. The wheatiness is softly sweet, nutty, and creamy and very gently green. There is very much an edible quality that can be hard to pinpoint. It's if like your favorite cream-colored sweater suddenly turned into food. A very unique skin scent and the one that got me into DSH and her wonderfully balanced creations.
