White Lilac

Very realistic, both to the lilac bushes in my backyard when I lived in Colorado, and to my memory of the cologne my grand auntie from the Midwest wore in the 60's. Like most lilac soliflores I've tried it goes on a bit sharp, but quickly mellows to a "just right" balance between floral, green, and a bit salty. The sillage is gentle, and while transparent enough to reapply without asphyxiating yourself and those around you, it actually has amazing staying power--I can still smell a faint but distinct trace the morning after. I'm getting more of it.

It’s one of those heavenly “your skin but better” type of fragrances and the lightest touch of iconic florals akin to wearing a sprig of fresh lilac and apple blossoms in your hair. This is a subtle adornment that goes with everything you add just before stepping out. I’m absolutely smitten!

I am so in love with this lilac. No class, just bad a**; the red neck of lilacs I guess if I compare it with the refined, aristocratic En Passant. It is a beautifully done lilac, not pretentious, I cannot say I detect the honey, nor the fruit, but maybe my nose is selective in only picking the lilac. Not huge silage but it does stay an extra second or 2 on clothing; this is the lilac I need a bigger bottle of :) Cheers

White Lilac could be a great starter floral for someone more into gourmand or beachy scents. The lilac is extremely realistic and lasts throughout the scent's duration, but I think the ambrette musk is slightly more dominant overall. I actually thought for sure there was tonka here and I am surprised there's not. It's thick, a little powdery, and both warm and cool at the same same. Stronger than you might expect with this genre. Sort of like a spring day in the northeast where the sun is out and the flowers are blooming, yet a cold wind comes up to remind you it's not summer yet. I do get the lotion/sunscreen vibe, though I don't think it's nearly as noticeable as in the summertime scents intended to smell that way. My biggest complaint is that there's really no changeability with White Lilac. While I quite like it initially, I begin to tire of it after an hour or two. I think it would make a really nice room or linen spray for that reason.

Unfortunately, this is not photorealistic. It smells heavily of suntan lotion with a hint of white lilac essence. On top of the very heavy suntan lotion effect it doesnt have any dimension... it is flat, flat, flat. En Passant by Frederic Malle is a three dimensional delicate white lilac with notes to highlight, ground and add dimension - give that fragrance a try if you're looking for photorealistic white lilacs. This does not have that. It is super flat: so well blended it takes on the accord of suntan lotion and not a three dimensional flower. It's also heavy and dense (a thick suntan lotion) instead of delicate, separate, unfurling petals of an actual flower. It's a no from me... though I had so much hope. :(
