Soprano Ice

This is my second purchase from the house of Dumont, and just like Nitro Red, this stuff is an absolutely amazing value for the price! While I'm not the biggest fan of the middle eastern clone houses, I must give credit where it is due. The quality of this fragrance is fantastic, while some middle eastern fragrances need some extra time to mature and settle, this one was good to go right off the bat. If this happens to improve with time, then that will be a huge cherry on top. This fragrance definitely walks the line of the YSL Y EDP/Parfum for inspiration, but, they have added this beautiful smoky aquatic note that carries throughout the life of the scent. It sounds odd, but paired with the sweet apple and citrus notes it all just works really well. The performance of this scent is excellent. My first two times wearing it I was easily clocking 10-12 hours of very solid performance. After the 12th hour it started to fade, but even the next day, I could still smell it on my shirts that I threw in the hamper. You will need to be mindful of the sprays, anything beyond 3-4 and you will be choking people out around you. This scent profile is also really versatile as long as you mind your sprays. Two sprays under your shirt would work well for office or formal wear, and 4-5 sprays would be ideal for going out and hitting the town. If you can grab this for around $35 online like I did, then I say pull the trigger and get it. The big designer houses need to step up their games. If these Middle Eastern fragrance houses continue to put out more high quality products like this at half the price of the designers, they are going to find themselves facing some drops in sales volume over the coming years.

Opens with a fresh, spicy blast of ginger that leaves a slight tingle on the skin, it's sharp, invigorating, and immediately cooling. The opening is very juicy, led by a crisp green apple note backed with aromatics. Despite its fresh and aromatic nature, there’s a surprising aquatic quality here fitting of the bottle. The apple and grapefruit come across wet, sweet, and dripping, which I believe is what gives this scent that watery, refreshing feel. There’s a noticeable cooling effect throughout the opening, perfectly matching the icy aesthetic of the bottle. It feels fizzy and bubbly but not in a soda-like way like what I get from Goldfield and Banks' Ingenious Ginger, this is more like chilled, sparkling air. The incense is where this really separates itself. Just when you think you’ve figured the scent out or it starts reminding you of something familiar, the incense pulls you back in and makes you rethink everything. At the start it leans further into that cool, mineral freshness, but once that incense kicks in it adds a nice smooth and calming smoky/ashy type of vibe. In the drydown, the fragrance turns muskier and more resinous. A soft sweetness begins to creep in, slightly sticky. It eventually takes on a creamy, lightly vanillic undertone, giving the scent a comfortable and polished finish. Overall, this is a refreshing yet intriguing fragrance, fresh and aquatic on the surface, but layered with enough depth and nuance to keep it interesting all the way through.

Crisp, clean and fresh all season banger. Probably my favorite in the Soprano line closely followed by Soul

From what I could tell this is supposed to be a twist on YSL Y Eau De Parfum and Elixir. The opening starts with gingery lavender and apple. It's really rich, yet fresh and crisp at the same time, like a fresh body wash that would be marketed heavily towards men. After some time, I pick up on incense, sandalwood and patchouli. Most of the cleanliness has gone away because of the smoky and earthy wood accord. It also has a sort of herbal accord. The scent itself is still fresh and aromatic, somehow. It essentially ends up with fresh lavender and citrus as the front of it all, with incense, sandalwood, and patchouli as the base. I don't really notice the vanilla or musk notes, but that could just me personally. Performance: This fragrance needs maturation, and my decant has had plenty of time to do so. The projection and silage are about what you'd expect from a freshie. The only difference is that the base notes stick around quite a bit longer as a skin scent. I picked up on around 5-6 of decent projection, anything after that was a straight up skin scent. Overall: It's great! I think Soprano Ice is a super solid choice for a man to wear as a casual daily cologne. It's versatile and easily wearable year-round. This is a freshie for the more "mature" crowd. Not to the extent of something like Terre d'Hermès, but I'd consider this decently far from youthful. I always recommend buying decants or testing these before committing to a full bottle, but it's also not very offensive or polarizing in my opinion. Would I buy a bottle? Probably not, just because I'm super picky and this is a bit too "mature" for my personal taste.

The best way I can describe it is that it smells similar to my YSL Y EDP but with some kind of mint, herbal, menthol or fresh pine scent. It's very refreshing and sort gives this fresh mint as it hits your nostrils. I'm glad that it turned out to be a great blind buy. Another good one by this house is Dumont Soprano Soul it's a 1 Million Lucky dupe and it's a great one too. Note: I'm picking up on this herbal scent that it's giving off. I checked what Fragrantica has on it and I guess that's what they put down as "balsamic"?

This smells like a cross between the Y line and Versace Dylan Blue. I had to sell Dylan Blue because the incense notes were too heavy for me. This fixes that by balancing out the ambery incense with the fresh apple and lavender combo YSL Y is famous for.

First day with it and smells like a burnt candle wick with extra incense and non YSL Y type sweetness. I don't pick up any YSL Y edt or edp type freshness and maybe it's just my nose or my batch. I don't pick up much vanilla or any clean freshness that Ysl Y is known for; It's just smokey sweet incense with no clean crisp or even aquatic Y DNA at all. I will spend some time with it to get more than just one impression and let it sit for some time to see if it gets "better", which I doubt since the incense seems to carry this fragrance through the opening till the dry down. UPDATE: It's gross, not for me. Misleading comparisons and note breakdown, straight up just incense and very slight apple smell. Weird sweetness and as it dries down the incense is all that's left

Yo I’m so disappointed!!! I want to like this so Bad! But it has that salty aquatic note/smell that smells sweaty on my skin, and I try it right out the shower, other fragrances with marine notes sometimes smells like this but it goes away or not real prominent. So I’m going to try to return it, I just hope they refund me...

Unfortunately, awful. I own 100+ fragrances including the Y lineup. This is just awful. Smells like a smoky, middle eastern style mess. Sour I guess? I don’t know but I had to scrub it off.

The opening is bright and lively but as it dries down it becomes sort of this sweet earthy smoky smell? I think the dry down is phenomenal I actually prefer the dry down more than the opening. That dry down is just beautiful and it’s enough for me to get a full bottle. This is definitely for those looking for a much more mature scent.
