Gilded

I recently purchased a 10ml tester of this fragrance after seeing it highly recommended in several of Pep’s videos. The juice just arrived, and while it’s not unpleasant, my initial impression is a smoky, boozy vibe. I’ve been wearing it for a few hours now, and so far, it seems fairly linear without much development. Based on this first wear, I’m uncertain whether it will earn a spot in my full-bottle collection. I’ll provide an update if my thoughts evolve over time. Update: I’ve given this fragrance a few full-day test runs, and I think I’m slowly falling head over heels for it. Now, I don’t know if my brain is pulling a prank on me, but I am *obsessed* with the scent. It’s absolutely gorgeous, but it has a dirty little secret. I keep getting a hint of fizzy “ side scent “ Hear me out – it’s like you have a basket of shiny, crisp apples, but lurking in there, one or two have gone a little off . Not fully rotten, just enough to have those suspicious brown spots that slightly rotten . That’s the vibe. Just a hint of something a little offbeat in the background that keeps things interesting. Maybe I’m losing it – who knows? But honestly? I’m loving this juice. It’s definitely full-bottle worthy. Would recommend, especially if you’re into slightly *rebellious* fruit!"

Gilded opens in a way that makes some of my neurons fire rambunctiously: the intellect familiar with components wants to know if I am smelling Aldehyde C-12 MNA with Safraleine and olibanum resin and some new captive molecule that I haven't yet smelled, is it Mystikal? Lemon-turpentine-glow says my nose. What is going on here? I am transfixed. I stop caring about analysis and I just give into whatever alchemy Pia Long created here. Yes, its gold. It smells gold to me, yes, because my synesthesia say so. It reaches in and grabs me and I surrender to it. This does have a glistening feel to it. Yes, it has a texture. It's as if it is cabalistic, an olfactory cypher and my bulb is looking for the key to decode it. It's fascinating and as it persists it feels more like an immense glow. This is actually what I hoped Quartana Soleil Invisible would be like, but while that was unsettling, this has me rapt. It is relatively linear but when the luminescence slowly dims, it feels a bit more like copper, with a patina developing as it's closer to my skin, the incense more evident, a calm smolder. It seems to my nose that the elevated sensuous Civettone reveals itself as the source of much of the exaltation. This is spectacular.

Disappointment. Good job I only got a travel size. No complexity. Feels like it's made on one single aroma chemical with volume turned up to the max.

What an interesting scent. The very first thought that popped into my mind when I sprayed this on skin was: carnival. I couldn't understand why. It felt strangely familiar, but I couldn't place it. Then it clicked. It smells exactly like the opening blast of a glitter hairspray you'd coat yourself in before heading to a carnival or fancy dress party. I guess the name Gilded makes perfect sense. It really does have a glittering quality. The opening is sparkling with bright lemon and aldehydes that are ever so slightly chemical, but in an intentional way. Beneath that sits a hint of florals, a gentle thread of smoke, and a warm, softly animalic undertone that never becomes unruly. As it develops, a beeswaxy warmth gradually comes to the forefront along with a powdery note. It softens the sparkling opening and gives the fragrance a comforting, almost vanilla warmth without losing its distinctive slight chemical character. It doesn't evolve dramatically over time. Normally that would count against a fragrance for me, but here it doesn't seem to matter. I kept returning to my wrist, trying to figure out exactly what I was smelling. It remains intriguing from start to finish, even without major twists. It's an unusual fragrance that feels genuinely original. Whether I ultimately love it or not, I can't deny that I've smelled very little else quite like it. It sure brings back memories of carnival parties in Cologne (no pun intended).

Ran to buy the discovery atomiser after the watching the Scentinel rave about this. I most say this is quite unique, I’ve never smelt anything quite like it. The Gold note is the first huge accord that leaps off the skin, the lemon and civet accentuate the metallic quality of the fragrance, this combined fantasy accord almost accurately mimics the metallic scent from warm metal jewellery. I also picked up some bold florals, which sweetens the perfume. Sadly for me this was not quite as dark and dense as I would have liked, On my skin the smoke, deeper resins and the civet were not bold enough for me. Finally as the perfume dries down I found the lemon overbearing on my skin. Gilded does have some potential so I will continue to test it. Interestingly enough I actually requested a topic on fragrantica a few months ago for perfume recommendations that smelt like warm, golden, opulent incense so when I heard about the profile for this perfume I was excited, I am impressed by the creativity and quality of the releases I’ve tested from the Boujiee so far and will definitely keep an eye out for more offerings in the future Gilded is good quality for price and lasts a while on the skin however gilded sparkles and I prefer my fragrances to intoxicatingly smother lol.
