Cap d'Antibes

Have always wondered about this house, and kinda never bought anything from it, but decided to grab a 30ml of this just as a test, and I was very pleasantly surprised. I smell nothing in the notes or see any resemblance to Fahrenheit, but then my nose is broken and I can never smell fragrances as described. Saying that, I felt that this had a bit of Le Labo DNA in it, but to a nicer degree, I always thought Le Labo was too artificial as opposed to synthetic, if that makes any sense? I get watermelon, over and over with this, but in the nicest way possible, even it's smell is salivating for a mouth watering crunchy cold bite of juicy watermelon. Obviously, after saying that, it's needless to say that it's more of a freshie/summer frag to me, but could be worn anytime, but suits nicer weather. I shall be trying more from this house, as this has pleasantly surprised me. I'd say FB worthy if you can get it a bit discounted, and I'd say safe blind buy too. I kinda regret getting the 30ml, and wish id gone for the 100ml. Update: Oh my Lord, it just hit me, it's a finer version of Fahrenheit!! I'm going to have to have several backup bottles, not just one, but several......this juice is awesome!

I Just love this fragrance. Got a decant to test it due to the (no little amount of) negative or meh reviews about it. I'm in love with it. Ordering my bottle this coming days. I agree with most of the reviewers about the price, i think it's overpriced. It should be around 100 usd, not 150~165 as it is right now. about the fragrance: It opens fresh, with the mint and violet. Then turns green and lastly that lovely woody scent mixed with that vanilla... I just love it. I don't really know why it has so many negative reviews. I mean, it's overpriced? Well, yes. A little. But it's an amazing fragrance and not one that i pick a lot from other people. As it's overpriced, i would recommend to test it before buying a bottle. If it's not a fragrance that you'll love, there is no point paying what they're asking for the bottle, for the same price (or a little more) you can find a lot of excellent fragrances.

Opening is beautiful with the mint, moss, violet leaf and a bit of smoke. The mid is lackluster, as the incense becomes overpowering. I don't detect much vanilla/cinnamon until deep into the dry down. It is too intense to be a summer fragrance. Works best in autumn/spring, and is dense enough to be used as a winter "freshie" Do not blind buy

I think people hate on this house just because. Good fresh scent thats not really groundbreaking but does not smell like all the other fresh scents.Performs well very solid scent overall.

In my collection, this is what I use if I want to smell “Mediterranean”. Its just great.

I'm surprised with the votes on this one here. First of all, while it does have a similar vibe to Fahrenheit (violet leaves, c'mon), it's nothing alike really. I think some people smell the note and a straight link and connection in their brains open. DEAD ANIMALS, CAR TIRES, GASOLINE, ENGINE OIL, GRANDPA. ffs It opens up surprisingly strong. The violet leaf works together with mint giving an ideal balance of green, fresh, and menthol, ozonic, and watery. Thanks to the mix with additional woody, clean, masculine birch it doesn't smell of a toilet cleaner or a toothpaste. The mid is surprising, too. It's warm, sweet spicy cinnamon but not in a way that would make it not suitable for high temperatures - it still stays fresh ozonic summery. While it's spicy minty it's not high of either therefore while it does remind me of Amouage Enclave, it doesn't smell like a cheap toothpaste and a grandpa to me, like the latter does. Oakmoss is a good descriptor for the woody aspects but to my nose this isn't really smoky or woody. There is some, there's birch, but not enough to be noticeably and importantly smoky and/or earthy harsh. It's based and round with wood and spice, but not woody or spicy in the character. The base says cedar incense and vanilla, and while it is true, it's never an important point throughout the lifetime of the fragrance. It's not very sweet, just rounded up, it's nor really woody, just based. Now. Fahrenheit? fck no. There's no animalic or especially leathery part to it. It's a fresh, green, summery ozonic that's rounded by cinnamon and vanilla. The spice reminds me a bit of the Parfum version, the green fresh of the acqua/cologne version, but never the original. Poor longevity? No, not really - about 7-8 on my skin, maybe more as a skin scent. Poor projection/sillage? Man, one spray too much around my neck and it chokes me for 5h. You mean it smells of all the things you hated in Fahrenheit? You're like Pavlov's dogs. You smell violet leaf, you think of the things you associate with them. It's not even pricey, the price is cool, the brand isn't hated like Creed. What's wrong? I don't know, I tested, I bought, I'm very happy with it. The longevity is 7-8h, the projection strong for 5 then moderate, a skin scent past 7. It's great for spring and summer plus the warmer days of autumn, but it suits winter as well - the vanillic and spicy backbone makes it a touch warm and the green violet and mint makes an icy feel. While it is unisex, it does remind me of a quality, expensive, maybe retro aftershave so might be liked more by some men than women.

This perfume fooled me.. but in a good way. I bought Cap d'Antibes as a fresh summer fragrance, as it is suggested by its name but also by the ingredients. I was wrong. If think you can rock this on the beach and sunny days, well ...no. it is actually quite the opposite. Cap d'Antibes is a winter scent. Surprise! In the winter its perf are way better and the scent itself make much more sense. My tentative of an explanation: In hot conditions Cap d'Antibes smells very close to a sunscreen (a good and pricey one....but still). so it's like clean, fresh in the opening but it quickly fades among the usuals products and scents you encounter during your summer routine. Basic stuff. Furthermore, the incense and vanilla quickly take power amd they are notes that you don't wanna wear during hot days. On me, the effect is like scrubbing sunscreen in the afternoon over a sweaty skin with a leftover of the morning cologne. Not fresh, not good, cheap effect, I dropped the bottle for the summer. Then I tried it during cold weather and then... it's a total different thing! The fresh mint and birch make total sens, evoking a cold forest, cedar goes along with that cold mood. They actually stands out much more in cold conditions. Vanilla and incense give you a warm base feeling. Actually they're needed Ingredients when it's cold. Even the perfs seem to be way better. During summer I was feeling that the scent didn't last more than one hour and quickly started to smell bad as I explained. During winter, I smell it all day long and it stays fresh. Winter fresh. Cap d'Antibes is then a cool winter fougère. if you take it that way, you will be amazed by its perf and it's versatile use. You can wear it to work or on a cold night out, it's great. the name of the fragrance is wrong. For the price it's a great deal.

As many below have already pointed out, Cap d'Antibes is initially reminiscent of Dior Fahrenheit thanks to its green, violet-led opening presented in a decidedly masculine fougère style. Whether or not this is actually based on a private formula by Albert Fouquet, inspired by his favourite holiday spot is open to debate, but storytelling is a big part of this brand. The origin story of the original Eight & Bob fragrance which features JFK as a main character is a huge, attention-grabbing selling point, but I suspect the Antibes connection here is a reach. Still, it is an objectively good, classic masculine scent, if nothing unusual. CA opens with green violet leaf, initially slightly sharp in the manner of designer masculine fougères, but mellowing quickly. Slightly camphorous mint adds a bright, herbal freshness. It is fresh and aromatic, natural-smelling and pleasant. As it develops, it remains freshly green and herbal, joined by soft woody notes. I get a clear birch note, like a freshly-snapped twig. Warm, rich spices keep things aromatic here, complementing the woody notes nicely. I get nutmeg and cinnamon. They pave the way nicely to the soft balsamic base. The drydown is musky, which, with dry vanilla, forms the balsamic accord of the bass. It reminds woody and spicy until final fade. Sillage and longevity are moderate. A pleasant, well-crafted aromatic fougère, CA is a decent warm-weather masculine, but is perhaps overpriced for what it is. Nothing unusual, but good-quality, well-blended and nicely composed. 4/5.

Eight & Bob Cap D'Antibes is an interesting creation, certainly marketed as a marine scent and immediately embodying a green aspect with the opening of violet and mint, and addition of moss and woody notes in the dry down. Much of this early part of the formula reminds me of Creed Green Irish Tweed, perhaps the archetype for fresh, mossy, green fragrances for a few decades. Cap's most notable notable departure from GIT is in the dry down, where it mixes in vanilla and becomes a little more of a year-round scent as opposed to a fresh-leaning marine scent. Frankly, though, Cap is pretty dense throughout. Even during its sharp burst at the opening where the violet especially takes a choke-hold of the experience, it does not feel so airy. Cap, like the original Eight and Bob, is priced fairly ($175 for 100ml, $50 for 20ml), as it's innovative, versatile, and strong-performing, particularly for its rather fresh, warm-weather-leaning genre. I would still give the original the edge of Cap D'Antibes, mainly as the original is less acerbic throughout, while Cap, even after softening into a sweeter vanillic experience in the dry down, still retains a certain bite that I find a little less inviting that much of the original. Still, Cap defies blue/green norms and achieves something special, and it's no surprise to me that it appears to be a very popular entry in the line. 7 out of 10

Surprised this one is so "disliked". It is a very pleasant scent and pulls off a similar trick to what PdM Layton and Lalique Hommage a L'homme do: it takes existing scents and styles and blends them. Cap d'Antibes opens with a dewy green blast of greens similar to that Green Irish Tweed, but not as clean as a smoky birch dirties up the clarity. With the smoky green comes a sharp violet leaf reminiscent of Dior Fahrenheit, and overall it achieves a similar gasoline/petroleum vibe. As this goes into the drydown, the violet leaf and ozonic qualities of this fade and sweet cinnamon enters. The cinnamon is very light, and merely compliments the green character of the scent. A definitive woodiness remains that is without a doubt cedar (not just some generic woody note, you can tell it is cedar.) The smoky birch turns to a soft incense similar to that of BdC EdP's incense, and a vanilla emerges. The base is woody-smoky-vanilla with some of the sparkly DNA from Eight+Bob Original. This is a very wearable scent, like PdM Layton, and like Layton too it can be argued that Cap d'Antibes is not worth the price since it isnt 'revolutionary' or 'groundbreaking niche.' Instead it takes a cacophony of popular scents and doesnt clone them, but combines them with a splash of good ole Eight+Bob Origial. Is it worth is? That is for you to decide. My thoughts? It's worth a try.

I will spare you the Eight & Bob brand rant (I'll save that for Eqypt) and just stick to the facts of what Cap d'Antibes is. The opening is a very green and pleasant actually with a really authentic feel of fresh vetiver, grasses and some sweetness. This sweetness is being provided by the main element which becomes very apparent very quickly and that's violets. I actually think this is a good combination with the greeness because it blends well with a superb, juicy cucumber note which never once goes that awful way it can. There's a woody hint of birch/cedar and maybe the oakmoss? but it doesn't really serve to make this less powdered or relentlessly about violets. I quite like it but for the price I wouldn't bother. Update: Upon wearing this today I'm actually quite impressed with the remarks I've had already and although I have only just applied it really my sillage trail was commented upon some 15 mins after I had exited the room. Two things to note it was my mum who commented on it and she has a very good sense of smell and it really is freshly applied but hey still pretty good. I have to say I liked it the first time but I really like it now, shame I know it fades but I can't fault the way it starts out and if you are a fan of violet scents this brings some nice attributes to the table.

Not being very fond of violet leaf, this was actually a decent surprise. The opening is fresh, green and aquatic with a minty violet, followed by mossy notes spiced with cinnamon and drying down to a mix of smoky sweet woods - overall it is very wearable, and the base notes actually makes it possible to use this one for most part of the year. You could say the overall sensation is fruity, juicy and slightly peppery, almost fig-like. In this case if you might expect something generic from the description, "not your run-of-the-mill aquatic/aromatic" may be an unnecessary comment but never the less that's how I feel about it.

This scent reminds me various designer creations but most vividly it reminds me a tamed version of Fahrenheit. Iit's velvety smooth, no complains about its quality but.. it smells very familiar. I get mainly smooth violet leaf with some birch and a nice sweetness from the cinnamon which becomes stronger as time passes. There's also strong cedar, mild mint, faint incense and mild vanilla. A much toned down Fahrenheit version with cinnamon (a little One Millionish by Paco..). This is what I get. It feels totally unisex. Performance is good moderate overall. Very good scent but not for me.

I got this as a gift from my SA. Based on the notes, I should hate this but I was surprised by how it developed on my skin. It has a lot of that "fougere" vibe that I don't particularly like, but there's something else that rounds up the fragrance, probably the sweet notes and spices (I guess the vanilla and cinnamon). The green accord and the mint gives Cap d'Antibes a fresh facet and I get whiffs of it from time to time, which makes it much more pleasant than expected. On later stages of the drydown it gets woodier but it retains that fresh facet. A strong like.

Strangely, a darker and yet clean fragrance, definitely for men! I really like the mix of violet and Mint, they really give way initially. It;'s actually fantastic, though very synthetic at first. it makes way for a warmer note afterwards. I can smell lots of leaves, wet and dewy and a hint of basil possibly. Actually, yes.... Basil. The heart is birch, it smells woody and yet white-floral, which gives it a paper vibe that I quite enjoy! Good fragrance, lasts about 5 hours and sits fairly close to your body!

As soon as I applied this and had someone smelled it, they complimented and said "Is this Fahrenheit?" Then smelled again and said "No it's not its lighter but has a hint of it" And I thought that was perfectly said to me. It gives that "touch" of Fahrenheit then goes away after into a nice, fresh, green, minty fragrance. It's enjoyable for the Spring possibly Summer as well and worth a try. I think this is full bottle worthy if you find it for a good price.

Opening similar to the central accord of Fahrenheit, but more in the aquatic direction with the addition of black birch oil (not birch tar). Dry down of vanilla, black pepper, cardamom, norlimbanol, ambroxan and something vaguely woody, like pepperwood and cedarwood, similar, on the one hand, to the dry down of Eros Flame and, on the other, to any dry down of a shower gel style fragrance

Punchy violet leaf with a subtle leathery petroleum note, reminds me of Fahrenheit, while the green/bitter part mixed with the violet leaf brings memories of GIT. Half an hour in and the cinnamon starts to show some kick which now sends me to a niche version of 1 million. I guess it lack originality, but it's nice overall. 6.5/10

I used up my tester that I got for buying something else. I get really long longevity with this one. 10 hours+, at least when some perfume hits my clothes. The smell is «green» and fresh, a little sharp and bitter maybe. Could work as a everyday scent I guess, for work maybe. Not for dates or Party in my opinion.

The fresh opening reminds me of my beloved Acqua di Gio but with a bright mint, then it settles into something warmer, spicier, but also sweeter and fruitier. I like that neither the spices nor the freshness is too sharp; it stays crisp without being piercing or unpleasant. Not groundbreaking, very comfortable.

"Cool mint" would be the best way to describe this, although there is (fortunately) no wintergreen in this. The violet leaf is done well so it makes a frosty green note added to the mint, and the tiny amount of birch stops it from being insipid. This is likeable, but not something I'd seek out.

I smell the resemblance to Fahrenheit, but more smooth and green. The opening has these marine qualities but without the stank. It's very masculine, smokey, green, and dense. Lasts a good 7-8hrs on me.

Fresh and green, slightly aquatic/ozonic. Verging into shaving cream, but nice.

I feel like layering this with Ombre Leather would work really well.

Cap d'Antibes begins with an excellent violet accord which is joined by a strong, slightly tarry birch note later in the first half hour. Spices and some minty airiness add some complexity, with growing moss and woods gradually replacing the floral top. However, in less than three hours on my skin, only woody aromachemicals and a sprinkle of cinnamon & vanilla remains. The dry-down is very generic. The longevity of this scent is fairly poor. Overall, whilst the violet top and the birch heart are fairly well done, I feel Cap d'Antibes doesn't smell very niche and performs poorly after the first hour. Despite whatever back story is attached, the scent is certainly over-priced and lacking the complexity and artistic flair of niche scents in the same price tier. Worth a try for fans of purple florals and birch. Otherwise fairly forgettable, especially in the dry-down.

I had high hopes for this one. It starts of with spectacular natural smelling green notes and violet leaf which take one to the French Riviera, suggesting a perfect summer banger. However, the dry-down soon becomes a persistent, brooding incense bomb which is a move away from the aestival aromatics announced in the opening. This was an instant love, which became an "OK" after the evolution of the scent. May work well in winter.

Fresh, dry green woods with a touch of background sweetness. A fallen birch trunk with moss growing on it, muddled mint and violet leaves rubbed all over it lending a camphorous and ozonic brightness, on a sunny late morning. The baser notes add a faint hint of sweetness and smoke. Moderately strong projection fades over 3-4hr, longevity 8-10hr.

I don't know how to feel about this, it's almost a nice fresh very masculine mediterranean scent but theres just something off. I ithink its too strong and could do without the cinnmaon and it smells like an old persons house. Nothing new or groundbreaking but could be very good if it was just a little different

I’ve tested quite a bit and out all of the samples this one showed the most potential in the opening. But the dry down has a very synthetic overbearing note I did not like, such a shame.

Cap D'Antibes opens fresh, very aquatic with nuances ozonicos calone or something like melonal, notes these undeclared database and terribly synthetic (very point against). Violet leaves the aroma directed towards a green tone that quickly becomes very woodsy with facets that no abuse or sweet or smoked diluting the fragrance with this point perhaps smoked powdery synthetic or evernyl moss. Like the other fragrances of Eight & Bob, Cap D'Antibes is no big deal, it is also very expensive for the quality that we provide (negative hoot). Rating: 3

Smells (to me) really designerish, like one of those clothes shop we have here in spain. It’s strong, like the room diffusers those shops have, and i’m sure a lot of people will like it. But not me. Sorry. It’s also a bit nausea inducing. Might be for its huge quantity of sinthetic stuff it has.

I am sorry, this is horrible. Where are the violet leaves and mint I was looking for? I just feel birch covered with motor oil. Try before you buy.

Smells like spruce trees to me in a boring and annoying way. Would not wear.

I don't smell any of the listed ingredients, nor any resemblance to any fragrance except for the smell of vanilla pine, for a car, the durability is really below the minimum, barely 3 hours on 3 different people, it seems that only the bottle and the box in which it is packed are certainly identical to the description skip this Georgian "smell" under every level🙄☹️ I by from easycosmetics at.

Nothing says panic button quite like niche aromatics. Let's face it. We've seem to always chase the ghost of Cool Water, Acqua Di Gio or Aventus. Finding something atypical in the aquatic region can be an adventure. Eight & Bob is...Eight & Bob. The price NEVER matches the product and at times the book is better than the fragrance. This time around, I'll vouch for the fragrance over the book. From the surface, the notes look sissified and Bob-ish(if I may). To my surprise, this fragrance has a little attitude with a touch of that green spunk we can all appreciate. For an aquatic, this is a powerhouse. This opens with a dash of cinnamon for seasoning escorted by a gust of mint. The birch stealthily positions itself underneath the herb masking itself as some sort of flavored leather. The smoke is short lived and smog-like which doesn't oppose a threat to the middle or basenotes. Today is the day that you will learn if you like violet leaves or not. The distribution of "green" forces you to choose sides. As the violet fades to black, evident is the subtle wave of watery accords ushered by the verdent notes. This is when Cap d'Antibes ventures into that familiar aquatic designer fragrance route. Now that i think about it, this part of the course smells a lot like Zegna Z. The turpentinic presence is reticent giving the cedar plenty of freedom to supplant the mossy appearance. I commend Eight & Bob for creating an honest fragrance for the beard growers. Grab it if you see it in someone's swap list.

At first, I thought Cap d’Antibes would be just another light, fresh summer scent... but I was wrong. I first came across Eight & Bob at a small boutique in New York while looking for something different. I was expecting Cap d’Antibes to be an easygoing citrusy fragrance, but it turned out to be way more complex. It’s fresh, but not in the usual “blue” or aquatic way...this is fresh like a crisp morning breeze on a yacht, surrounded by pine trees and salty air. The opening hits with mint and birch, giving it a cool, green edge, almost like a walk along the coast before the sun fully rises. Then, as it dries down, the cedar and incense come in, adding this warm, slightly smoky touch that keeps it from feeling too light or fleeting. It actually reminds me a bit of Creed Erolfa, but where Erolfa leans more on that bright marine saltiness, Cap d’Antibes feels greener and more refine like a mix of ocean air and the wooden deck of a sailboat. Longevity? Solid 8+ hours, and with a bit of wind, it somehow projects even better. Perfect for days when you want that fresh, clean feel but with a bit of elegance. Not the typical summer scent, but that’s what makes it special.

Wow, this was a dream. I had to dish out for a full bottle as soon as I got my sample. Sweet, suedey, creamy, and effervescent, Cap d'Antibes is an elegant trinity of violet, moss, and cedar. The other notes play a distant second fiddle, but it's excellently blended. No one is left out. Though I've never visited Antibes and thus have no idea what it's like, this fragrance does capture the romantic storybook essence of a lush woodland on a summer's night, illuminated by fireflies and starlight. While perhaps not extraordinarily unique, it is most tastefully executed. Unisex, but male-leaning, and a tad formal. If you have an obsession with softer fragrances evocative of natural landscapes as I do, this is a worthy addition to the shelf. My only critique is the longevity. This was no longer noticeable after about half a day's wear.

A plastic bird flew into a net, got stuck not knowing what to do. The bird pressed through tiny words through its tiny lungs: "I'm like all alone in this" A lonely hunter heard the bird and trockeled it out of the net, The hunter: "Hey man! I am Bob, you smell like candy and ass whipe" Whassup?" The tiny plastic bird, now embedded in two large hands, answered: "I wash myself in the river by the power plant, every day at eight a clock. And I am plastic, you know? Bob tried to squeeze the life out of the bird, only to notice that the bird was gone, all gone.

Sample 3 - Discovery Set Violet leaf, I like the one from Mancera Wind wood. This scent is replicates the rich Mancera diluted with Birch instead of vetiver. So this is light and does not project. Might never make it in my shelf, unless i cant get Mancera wind wood when i want it next summer. Certainly not a replacement. I cannot put a score, or recommend this. Sorry

A fragrance that offers the notes of the French Riviera, Cap D'Antibes meeting place for painters captured by the particular light of the place. The green notes reproduce the marine notes, musk and birch reproduce the breeze that comes from the French Alps. A decidedly masculine mix but ideal for women on summer marine evenings. Price always from niche perfumery

Ça ressemble à Fahrenheit 32 un peu acquidigio armani violette et concombre 🥒 c’est frais avec de l encens rien d extraordinaire mais pour les amateurs de 32 et de Kennedy acqua di gio etc pour être un excellent parfum par contre leurs qualité de parfums à eight and bob et superbe leur parfums sentent naturels et ça tiens toute une journée sans problème

I sprayed, and then I regretted doing so. Definitely a masculine scent. Cap d’Antibes opening is terrible on my female skin, a cross between Brut and a dime store cologne. I like the drydown better, I can sense the aquatic vibes and olfactory connection to Cool Water. This scent has good performance, if Caps works for you that’s a plus.

Spring Summer scent: 7/10 Opening is green, fresh and a bit aquatic, I get some bergamot too I think and it gets a bit more woody in the dry down with a hint of cinnamon and incense. It's actually a nice sent. Pretty clean, works with a clean look, smells like camus the stranger. Silage: 4/10 Longevity: 5/10

It's kind of like a mix of Cool Water/GIT with Fahrenheit for the opening. A lot of violet, slightly petroleum vibe. I like it but it fades within 30 min to the dry down which is all incense over green notes much like TF's Vert d'incense. Not unique enough to purchase, especially for the price.

The fragrance exudes a tea-infused essence, reminiscent of a delightful tea blend. However, I discovered that the prominent presence of mint isn't to my liking. Similar to my experience with Beach Hut Man by Amouage, I find that an overpowering mint note isn't my preferred olfactory experience

When spraying this for the first time you get that green vibe in the opening of violet and mint, which gives you that fresh, minty vibe. Then in the drydown you get a woody vibe with the moss and Cedar notes mixed with the Vanilla that gives you that sweetness to it. This is a great scent.

Out of the Eight&Bob sample collection I purchased. I gravitated towards this one and Egypt. Because I get the Fahrenheit reference. It’s almost like a hint of the original Eight&Bob mixed with aspects of Fahrenheit. I think it’s easier to wear than Fahrenheit and better overall.

Very, very boring and mediocre. The violet accord that overpowers the most part of the fragrance is very similar to the ones that are used a ton in designer frags, such as Carven pour Homme, which is even a better fragrance than this one. Total waste of time
