Capua

This is very Black Afghano inspired where the oud has been usurped by vetiver. Personally, I prefer this one. The opening is a medicinal cypress blast with an explosion of balsamic and lemony elemi. The elemi resin then melts itself down into a pool of amber embers, glowing away steadily in the background. There's an abundance of woods and the dried roots of vetiver here, used as tinder for the fire found in this perfumed hearth, full of pitch black soot and the sweetest of velvet smoke. Leans masculine, but I'd wear it still gladly, and last and last as though you've been literally smoked by all the ingredients in this beautiful fire, like a bakhoor ritual. It's carbon black and amber in colour and thick velvet in texture. I like it very much and need to give it a few more tries to establish if I will add a decant of full bottle to my collection. This house continues to impress me!

🤎 I looooove this fragrance!. Perfectly smoky, warm, lightly spicy... my goodness this is beautiful, very sensuous, elegant and even mysterious...irresistible!. I have to admit Capua makes me a little weak in the knees. Really nice and powerful combo of rich, dark and smoky woods, sweet vanilla and soothing (also slightly earthy) vetiver. It’s THE FIRST vetiver based scent that smells this sweet! And it actually works beautifully together. Absolutely mesmerizing perfume! Follow me on IG: scent.guide

Smells really good. Woody, sweet, ambery. The cedar isn't as dry as in many perfumes, it's really sweetened which makes it really smooth and pleasing. This smells niche and very high quality. It's a loud, masculine fragrance.

Another First review. I cant tell the notes apart with this one,, All i get is a sweet smoky woody smell that lasts for ages and it is mouth watering for me. A must try. 12-JUL-2020

100 times better on skin than on card. Bears no resemblance to the notes listed, it's more an earthy leather with possibly some herbs and geranium, plus lots of patchouli.

Like walking through the aftermath of a wildfire, cedar and vetiver still smoldering, amber adding a dark glow. Smoky woods at their fiercest.

Like a more sophisticated less sweet and stronger version of Black Afgano. Very smooth and long lasting. I may have to shell out for this one.

Very beautiful; peaceful and earthy. I have a large decant, and wear it when I want to calm and ground myself. Fills a good space without being obnoxious; lasts for hours. The only reason it’s not on the short list for a full bottle is that it is, as others have said, quite like a lot of other things, primarily Black Afgano. Also? It feels overpriced for what it is. All talk of “the Silk Road” aside, elemi, cedar, decent vetivert? They’re all in here, they mostly feel natural, and they’re all quite affordable, as is cade, which I think is what they’re using for the smokiness. And I just don’t feel like paying oud prices for vetivert

Burnt, resonated amber. I like this. It’s one of the weaker offerings from the house, or maybe subtler. Hard to call it. When I smell a subtle fragrance, I tend to assume the perfumer is hiding low quality ingredients or blending. Not sure if that’s the case here. This is simple and to the point. Smells better on paper than on skin. On paper, this fragrance is refined and gentlemanly. On skin, charred and smokey to a fault. Could’ve used a tobacco note. Would be a lot more charming had they toned down the smokiness. I like it as a room refresher. Wouldn’t wear this.

Sophisticated and smoky woody aromatic that follows a fairly trodden path in recent perfumery. The perfume opens with notes of smoked cedar and elemi resin along with synthetic notes like cashmere wood and ambroxan. As it starts fully developing one also gets notes like vetiver, ambrette (musk mallow) and cade. Overall the well blended masculine scent has moderate sillage and good longevity. Unfortunately there are too many of these type of scents in the market today for it to make a huge impact really and the deluxe pricing and packaging will not help. Enjoy!

Smoky, ambery woods. A green piney cypress leads the opening, along with a fresh peppery veneer, but at its center is a dark, rich smoky woods. The immediate aftermath of a wildfire, charred trees still giving off warmth with conifer needles littering the ground. Resins slowly displace the smoke as it dries down, adding a mild sweetness. Strong projection fades to a modest scent bubble over ~3hr, longevity 10-12hr.

definitely getting the black afgano vibes. finding it more bearable than both rausch and terroni (it turns less sweet on me). and the vetiver is quite prominent. kind of like this - as i love my vetiver. but then again, i don't think it is FB worthy for me.

More my style with a dry spicy sweetness initially and after a 2.5 hour dry down I picked up on mostly a dry sweet clean fragrance with saffron and musk as well as powdery notes.

I haven't experienced Terroni. I know some compare Terroni to Black Afgano. I can tell you this is not Black Afgano. Its missing depth, the hint of sweetness, and certainly longevity. You could say its reaching for that. Certainly not as great. I have Black Afgano and Mancera's Hindu Kush. If you have those, you don't need this. But for a shell of Black Afgano but even less than Hindu Kush, you can get this. You can get an ok price at a discounter. If you are going to do that, just get Black Afgano. This is woody with a hint of smokiness. That's it. Just over 5 hours in performance. The Electimuss Discovery Set so far has been a mixed bag. Most have been a like. But very few (so far) are a love and this one is just ok for me. Love the bottles.

To be totally fair: these comments are coming from testing in 80 degree weather in the summer. Believe it or not, I have never tested black afgano but to my nose this smells very similar to Lattafa maahir black edition (around 50 usd). I am not loving this but again to be fair I absolutely love this house and have loved almost every offering this far and I’m bound to not like every single one! This is has a very dark woody smoke vibe. I don’t hate it now but don’t love it. I will test this again in the cold months to see if my tastes change in this one...

Dry, warm, dusty, and woody with a mild, unisex floral note (possibly geranium) that fades after the opening. There's also a gentle, sweet smoke accord in the background. The opening is on the dense side, but the more it dies down, the more soft and pleasant it gets. Not a bad fragrance for a summer day or a warm autumn day, though it probably wouldn't be my first choice.

Not much to say. Smells like burning freshly cut wood. I could also smell some spices hanging out in the background. Interesting fragrance. I would like this on someone else, but not on myself personally. Wife says it reminds her of a grilled food stall at a carnival.
