Cuir Patchouli

You really need to love patch to warm to this beauty. Patch can come across as quite a cool damp note (Serge Luten Borneo) but this has been lightly warmed up and sweetened with amber and cinnamon. I do get a good dose of leather but patch is king here. The sweetness is apparent for the first half hour. Perfectly unisex and of course it has good longevity and sillage even in this cold room. The patch and leather start to become more prominent after half an hour. Patch and leather remain rulers to the end with the leather the last note to remain. The bergamot seems more evident now which seems a bit curious being a top note. It might be the sweet amber eases off and allows it in. After half an hour or so there is some similarity with Serge Lutens Borneo for which I am very grateful. There is even a dark chocolate aspect to this. I was not sure what to do once my Borneo decant had gone. Apparently it is still in production but it's longevity is not good. Not the most unique mix of notes but it's clearly made by a Master. It oozes class and sophistication. I'm glad I have it in my collection.

Just got this blind buy and I'm surprised that no one has noticed its similarity to Coromandel CHANEL. The opening is nearly a dead ringer, at least to my edt version of Coromandel, which I purchased in early 2010. It dries down to an ambery patchouli mix, with a suede (as opposed to leather) note definitely there but not dominant. And yes, it feels a little chocolate-y all around. Longevity is okay. I'll wear it when I'm in the mood for Coromandel but don't want to use it. It's quite good on its own two feet anyway.

I love this perfume, I have my name carved on it, I remember I bought it when I was 19... I always had a thing for heavy perfumes. it's considered a heavy perfume, (but not as heavy as in Nah) the heavy classy unique perfume... I like to wear it on special events/nights...

Elie Saab Cuir Patchouli (2016) - Mossy Leather - #franciskurkdjian creates this perfume that resembles a dark and mossy Forest while wearing that beautiful well-worn leather jacket. I also get baking spices and amber resins in the drydown. Balance and transparency is similar to a Lutens or Chanel exclusives.

Interesting leather patchouli scent, which turns more into a patchouli perfume the longer I wear it. I’m also picking up something synthetic and balsamic in the base, which might sound like I don’t like it but I do. This base is similar to Grand Soir, an obvious nod to a familiar Francis Kurkdjian signature.
