5th Avenue After Five

It was a blindbuy just because I found it for a steal(it was a sealed barely used 4.2 oz bottle which I purchased for 14$)and also my other blindbuy from this line was successful(5the Avenue NYC) It's an absolute hit! I never imagined to find such an interesting perfume this cheap! I love it when I can detect different listed notes and it's the case here.I thought it's going to be just a nice but generic perfume and it's intresting notes won't showup but as soon as I spray it coriander says hello to my nose.I know coriander from agent provocative eau emotionelle.back then I didn't like it but gradually I started to appreciate the unique spicy-aromatic-herbal edge it gives to a scent. When first sprayed I can get coriander and a hint of saffron blended with bergamot and a lush and sweet plum.this stage is tasty and intresting and I'm positively surprised.after couple of minutes plum fades and is replaced by a floral bouquet.though honey suckle is one of my favorite floral notes,I wished saffron-plum combo to last more.albeit corridor is more consistent and doesn't leave honey suckle alone and lasts for a long time.well this isn't my favorite stage.maybe because there's no more plum sweetness to cover bitter edges of coriander or it may be because the overall scent is getting drier Luckily soon enough woody notes come closer.well I don't have a fixed emotion towards woody notes.dominant woody notes can ruin a perfume for me but here sandalwood is creamy and rounds the edges and birch is here to make sure 5th avenue after five keeps it's uniqueness.I don't know how birch is supposed to smell but in this stage on my skin there's something very similar to suede/warm skin note in Lacoste pour femme.like a warm,soft,clean and feminine leather just in drydown I start to pickup jasmine and musk and they're subtle,almost creamy and clean just like woody notes 5th avenue after five goes through different stages of development and I enjoy this olfactory travel.it starts as a sweet(not too much)and spicy fruityfloral then turns to a floral with rough,bitterish aromatic/herbal(I don't mean green by using this term)undertone and finally dries down to a rounded woodyfloralmusk.it's not the prettiest smell ever but it's pleasant and original.something that I expect from an expensive highend or even a niche fragrance! Elizabeth arden 5th avenue after five is not a loud and glittery club scent,it's not really dark either but it's a great evening scent just as it's been promised in it's name.it's also wearable during day and for office,year round.it's rather inoffensive but is far from being boring or unoriginal.I see it as a classy feminine scent,warm,pleasant,comforting and clean,sensual and sophisticated but I can see that a man can also pull it off without much difficulty.since it's opening and drydown are totally different I highly recommend you to try it on your skin and give it enough time and keep in mind that what lasts with you for a longtime is the drydown and first stages are there for less than an hour My first experience with this line,NYC,was leaded to an amazing longevity but soft sillage(sillage was moderate at first but it soon dropped,but it lasts as a skinscent on me forever and I can smell traces of it until I take a shower!).longevity is the same here(I think it's something about my skin as it doesn't last on my sister more than seven hours)but fortunately sillage is better.it doesn't pass moderate,just keeps it's projection for longer time.I even like it's bottle(except frosted plastic part of 5th avenue line's cap).it looks simple and classy just like the juice inside I'm very much satisfied with this new member of my wardrobe.It's not what I usually go for.I even don't think I'd wear it often and I know that this huge bottle will last a lifetime for me but I sometimes crave it and go for it specially when I want to step out of my comfort zone .I highly recommend everyone to try it(on skin and with patience)and I see it a safe blindbuy for whoever likes Lacoste pour femme(not that they're similar.they're totally different in first phase but share similarities in their drydown)

I'm surprisingly impressed with Elizabeth Arden 5th Avenue After Five! The 5th Avenue line has been a bit all over-the-map for me (though I've only tried 5 of the whopping 15 (!!!) flankers). Mostly I've found them to be dissatisfying -- not bad smelling/stinky, just disappointing due to lack of intensity, projection, and longevity. But I keep trying them because they all are, at the very least, pleasant, and a few are absolutely lovely and beautiful -- and they're VERY inexpensive. So far, the two winners of the five I've tried are My 5th Avenue (a lovely pear/jasmine/musk reminiscent of Ralph Lauren Woman) and, now, 5th Avenue After Five. So, 5th Avenue After Five is not just pleasant; it's actually interesting! I keep seeing people saying in their reviews that it's non-offensive and, while I think that's true, After Five is a step above the usual office-friendly frag. While not exactly complex, it does play with opposites very skillfully, maybe the way a classic chypre would. It starts with a burst of citrus/lime and is quite soapy, almost aldehydic (maybe, a little like Estee Lauder White Linen, but without all the oakmoss) -- so you have to like soapy scents to enjoy After Five. Then, as it settles down, a beautiful fresh, green but sweet honeysuckle comes in along with the lightly animalic bite/tang of birch/leather and the rumbling deep fruitiness of the plum. That leather/birch + plum accord gives it just an echo of the weightiness of heavy hitters like Rochas Femme (an old favorite of mine) and Calvin Klein Secret Obsession (a newer fave), but without the over-the-top thickness/richness/heaviness of these older ones. 5th Avenue After Five is not gourmand sweet, but it is sweet; the plum gives it a deep fruit sweetness and the lily of the valley brings a fresh "green" floral sweetness of LOTV, if that makes any sense. But these opposites -- plus the leather/birch note + lime -- play so well together that After Five never comes off as particularly sweet even though it is kind of sweet. Ultimately, there's something so reminiscent here of more "old school," 20th century scents -- but way more low-key -- which, I guess, is partly why I like it so much. It also performed very well on me; I do tend to overspray (especially with Elizabeth Arden scents!), but my 12 or so spritzes radiated steadily (though at close range) throughout the 8 hour day. In spite of having echoes of Femme and Secret Obsession, 5th Avenue After Five is really in the same genre as two other light birch/leather perfumes I have -- Alfred Sung Shi and Alaia for Women -- and I will probably be storing it next to these two. As light, fresh leathers, these three are similarly fresh, clean, "cold," well-balanced, and unisex. All are proper, office safe, reserved and classy scents. Overall, After Five is a great find and fantastic hidden gem for both fans of old school classics and modern light unisex leathers. <3

I don't know how there isn't cedar in this because when I first spray, I smell cedar woods strong.. then a blast of lily of the valleys before it settles out and is blended so well almost right away into a soft white floral and powdery woody beauty. I've layered just now with the lotion, the spray, then some vintage chanel 5 edt, vintage Picasso edp, and non vintage chanel 5 edp for good measure so I'll leave a better review when using this alone, but I'm just so shocked there isn't cedar here, because I smelled it very strong that first few moments before I started spraying other stuff on top like a mad woman. 😅 I love powdery scents after a bath before bed and to get that perfect powdery goodness, I've got to layer. I will say, this is so classy and elegant smelling, an easy signature scent, non offensive, every day wear. Smells like clean fresh soap layered with clean laundry, but not that overpowering chemical cheap laundry soap, something fancier. The good stuff lol so clean laundry on clean skin after bathing in beautiful rich soap.. it's gentle, like what I'd imagine a sweet mother's hug would smell like. Or your sweet grandmother who believed cleanliness was next to godliness. Anyhoozie.. I'll edit when I'm wearing it on its own. For now I'll just enjoy my layers, because I like to be punched in the face with powder before bed and After Five is more like a light dusting, not strong enough on its own for me, though very much there, it sits very close to the skin for me in early June (Canada, so don't be thinking summer yet lol we're still very early spring).

In a word, this is versatile. Do I love it? Will YOU love it? I do because it has a place just like many of my scents. It's a feeling, a mindset. If I had to split my perfumes in half and throw away half of them, this would go. But there are days when I would love this more than ALL of them. Just not as often. So I love it, but it's not really a "love", MOST of the time. Will YOU love it. Probably about the same as me unless your CRAZY in love with this, which could be more than possible! Most everyone can love this SOMEtime. It's a great gift! The clear bottle and liquid are a favorite of mine. I like that "pure" look. It's like the first waters of the earth. To compare this scent so you might have an idea of what I smell would be, Paris Hilton's St. Mortiz. I don't think it's just ME. I think you certainly can smell a bit of St. Moritz IN this scent. I can't comment on the lasting of this scent yet. It usually takes awhile before I am sure. I've had to come back more than once and rescue my lying reviews! But I can say, it's alright for sure. It's cheap enough that if it only last a few hours, it's worth the buy! I hope you enjoy your bottle as much!

Ok. Oh, so... this sure is surprising! I honestly wasn't expecting... anything like this! I smell white florals, but no so much of that plum... but a lot of coriander, which I instantly love. Bergamot and birch really complement each other beautifully, and coriander+saffron create this addictively unique, cool and fresh, uplifting and warming combination, that I can almost call nostalgic. This perfume takes me to places... It's like a scene from a memory. I hear the loons calling... I feel the wings of the dragonflies against my legs... I smell smoke. A dinner is cooking over a fire, and wind is rustling through the birch leaves. I feel calm. I smell... serenity. This perfume, to me, is the purest essence of summer. No fruits, no sugar. Just pure flowers, bright and comforting zing of the birch, and coriander... reminds me of our old summer cottage, at the middle of the forest. I see the night of the Midsummers Eve, when the air is cool and warm at the same time, and the bonfires burn at the middle of the lake. This is love. The smell of the North. This is home.

I definitely agree with this being elegant. I was expecting a less formal juice for a lazy afternoon after a hard day at work, nevertheless, I am not disappointed as the fragrance possesses some of my favourite notes and has the ability to alleviate the working day tension. It is hard to say if it is creamy or powdery; I would put it somewhere in between. My skin makes plum sandalwood, honeysuckle, corriander and jasmine the most prominent and most detectable notes; they are mixed in perfect proportions without one note overpowering the rest. After Five is a great fragrance; multifunctional (suits any ocassion), discrete, yet lingering nicely for a good 5 hours. Feminine and clean. Perfect choice if you're unsure what to wear on the day, but it is not to say it is boring. I find it quite appealing to see this fragrance is perfectly capable to fit my clothing whichever I might put on, rather than watching myself try hard to make my clothes fit the fragrance I am wearing. Another quality gem from Arden. Affordable, yet well made.

These reviews are so entertaining. I wore this when it first came out in 2005 and was recently inspired to buy another bottle after all these years and I still love it. On my skin it smells fresh, clean, mildly floral and quite elegant. I recall it never had great longevity but it's not expensive so I don't mind re-spraying throughout the day. Absolutely love this, I do not get any of this 'pledge cleaning product smell. I normally have a real aversion to cheap perfume but I think at this price point it's very elegant and understated with balanced notes and beautiful dry down.... Now i'm off to read comments on JLos Glow because that it a perfume I agree smells like cleaner or toilet spray.

I had to put this on over the top of another perfume I'd put on early this morning, because I couldn't stand it (the too heavy coconut smell), and thank God for this HEAVENLY PERFUME!!! I has righted the wrong! It is divine! Gorgeous!! Such beautiful florally smells! This is only the second time I've worn it, and I love it even more than the first! Oh........sublime! I'm happy now. Thank you Elizabeth Arden. I love every one of yours I've tried so far, and it's been a long while for me, finding the right perfumes - I never seemed to find anything I liked before! I'm thrilled with these, and I can't wait to try them all.

It is elegant, could suit a natural beauty or a well made up lady. Natural being a good word for this. It is warm and inviting with mute woods, light airy and almost creamy tonka and sandlewood, Can maybe smell saffron and coriander. Really everything is so well blended that After five stands alone. Tried many perfumes in this group but none like this one. It is not spicy borders on powdery but is to well blended for that just enough sweet notes to keep it from being bitter yet it is far from being sweet. Just perfect and warm. Am happy I got this in time for fall but will probably wear on occasion all year long.

I love this fragrance. I think it is very light and creamy, easy to wear to the office as it is not offensive. I think that EA fragrances are so well made for the low price, they last a long time on the skin and are good quality. I bought this online - blind buy and I am so happy with this scent that I reordered and bought two backup bottles. It is so lovely and not overpriced that I can afford to respray during the day. The name is a bit misleading, it can definitely be worn before 5 and even after 5 if one prefers - it is suitable for anytime of the day. I am really enjoying it!!

I just got this today and I can say that I love this soooo much since first sniff !!! I was a little bit afraid about this because it has been a blind purchase but I have readed some opinions from here and some of them weren ́t good reviews but some others were. The good ones matched exactly with what I was looking for in a perfume so I bought it. "5th Avenue After Five" is sooo sexy and elegant, I just love it and I really recommend it if you are a sexy and elegant woman, you won ́t regret this product ;)

This perfume is beautiful, the opening is not very friendly to a sensitive nose but the dry down is amazing.. I feel plum and then woods... The coriander notes in the beginning can be on your face so if you have a sensitive nose don't spray this on your neck.. The longevity is insane(my body eats up scents so if this worked on me, it can work on any skin) and the bottle of 125ml is much affordable ..you won't regret buy... But do test it before purchase...

This is a gorgeous perfume. I've had it on for 10hrs now, and it's still just as strong! The smell changes quite a lot throughout the day, and every one is gorgeous! Very smooth and soothing, fresh and florally, and lots of deeper woody smells as well. It's a total pleasure to wear, and every now and then I get a good whiff of it, and so many different fragrances, from soft to quite intense. Beautiful. And yes, very elegant too. I love it.

Less is more. That is how I describe this classy, classic fragrance. Not every perfume has to be in-your-face and over the top. Quiet sophistication is just as effective. When I smell it I get an image of Audrey Hepburn in a little black dress, gorgeous black hat, a pearl necklace and a lit cigarette gazing wistfully through the window of Tiffany's. I shall say no more..that about covers it.

Slightly edgy, expressive opening notes evoke memories of crisp, fresh fragrances from the early 2000s. As it develops, the composition becomes powdery-smooth, softly sweet, sensual, and caressingly enveloping. With a clearly perceptible sillage, it lasts for many hours. One of my favorite 5th Avenue flankers. The beautiful bottle is refined and perfectly complements the fragrance.

Dewy, soft spicy and musky. I can smell the honeysuckle, musk, coriander( it was cardamom to my nose) and the light woodsyness. No smockeyness for me, just a distant hint of leatheryness. stays for hours on my skin and I can smell it well during the day. spring and fall appropriate.

So may be I am the only one love both Fifth Avenue. Fifth Avenue smell more rich and elegant more suitable for office wear. After Five has fresh smell, unoffensive and easy to wear. It's cheap, nice, fresh, easy to find...so what else...go get one for you!

This smells like a department store? YUM! New clothes? If there is ANYthing in this world that can compare to perfume, it's new clothes! Clothes and perfume, this must be a heavenly perfume. Now....just now, is the first time I've ever wanted to try this.

so distinct! 😍 it truly stands out, it s feminine but in a strong way, elegant, but delicate. the opening is lovely, to me it smells like a green stem which has some white flowers layered upon it. a sweet bouquet where everything blends beautifully

I love this one! It's musky and plummy! If you lika a scent of plum you will like this perfume. It has no resemblance to original 5th Ave. This one is so much softer and way more pleasant!

I like it, but don't love it. It is a great fragrance for during the day and is quite light. For a fragrance that is named 'After Five', it needs to pack more of a sensual punch.

I own(ed) several of Arden's perfumes and like them for the most part. I don't blame some reviewers for being on the fence about After Five. I really like this fragrance, but need to use it a little more before I decide whether I "love" it. Other reviewers are not wrong when they describe it as a "gem". It really is a surprising, lovely scent. I've now come to expect a similar smell among the 5th Avenue line, just as I experienced with the Green Tea line. While I do detect similarities between After Five and NYC Limited (and vaguely the original 5th Avenue), this fragrance holds its own. It has a softer, creamier, and cleaner smell. It's not extraordinary, it's not the most memorable scent there is, and for an EDP, it sure disappears fast :( But it's clean and soft, and despite the name, it's appropriate for all day and evening wear, including the office. The dry-down leaves a beautiful, inoffensive, close-to-the-skin scent. I've experienced bergamot in other fragrances and it came out as a loud, screeching note. Not with After Five. All the notes seem really well balanced and don't change much over time. I'd be comfortable with respraying this on my skin without worrying about body chemistry changes negatively transforming the scent. I owned and love the original 5th Avenue (which was a repurchase on more than one occasion) and the NYC Limited Edition. Within a year, I can count the (few) number of times I reached for the NYC. There was nothing remarkable about it, much as I liked it. I believe it smelled like one or two other fragrances that I owned and liked more, so it was forgotten. After trying it one more time this summer, I finally gave it away to someone who was over the moon about it. Between Style and After Five, I settled for a blind purchase of After Five based on reviews and don't regret it. I would not repurchase it once it's done since I believe I am done with the Arden line. Most all the scents I bought started to smell the same, which is a clear indication that I need to forget about them for a while and come back to them in the future to appreciate them more. Bottom line: this was a safe and pleasant blind-buy. I will enjoy using After Five year-round, but I would not repurchase it based on familiarity, longevity, and sillage.

A dry sort of clean scent. Abit cold. But very sophisticated. I get the wood notes especially birch, also saffron, white musk and a hint of plum. Not a fan of the opening, but it gets better and better as it dries down, I just love the combination of dry woods and white musk. Aloof and minimalist, yet I also find it comforting and quietly sensual. Like someone else has already mentioned, indeed the scent brings to mind shopping malls, new clothes, new bags! And also the scent of a woman's clean body after toweling off post-shower, hair still damp. And crisp white sheets in 5-star hotel rooms. I appreciate the dry, almost astringent nature of this scent (it even parched my throat when I had my nose attached to my wrist for 2 whole minutes), but just a tad bit more floral sweetness or a pinch of amber would have toned down that astringent note and made it absolutely perfect. It does smell expensive. But it's also very easy to wear, and versatile enough for all year round. A cool, discrete beauty indeed. An ageless sort of scent, neither young nor mature. Something to reach for when you need something more subdued. Perfect for the office or daytime, and I loved using up my sample just to lounge around the house in my bath-robe after a nice long shower. I could even fall asleep with it, it's so calming. I'd love to buy it, but I have enough perfumes for now, next year perhaps. Staying power is good, sillage is light but noticeable, price is great. Oh, and do not buy blind! There will be many out there who will not appreciate certain aspects of this scent, maybe find it too simple or too clean, too sharp, etc, so test first.

I have owned this one for quite a while yet the 125ml bottle is almost full. Not that I don't like it: it is scrumtious. I delight in gourmand fragrances but this one, I am rediscovering all over this morning as I sip a tea in the comfy warmth of my home while winds howl outside (-15 degrees here now). This is another beautiful creation by E.A. Though it does remind me of the original 5th avenue, this one is not a 'come out and play' scent. It is bolder, still as fresh yet more mature. It has a vintage-y quality I cannot define. It starts off whith what seems like a burst of ruby-red grapefruit (not listed here), bergamot and lily of the valley which rules throughout. Fresh and clean come to mind but not in a 'Clean Provence' kind of way. It is richer and more potent, a floral juice which bewitches the senses without drowning them. A fresh plum note gives off a deliciously fruity whiff here and there, making it less serious and more sweetly sophisticated. To me, it smells like pure class: it is light, not overdone but falls upon you like a sophisticated -scented silk scarf. Tingly sandalwood is predominant giving it a smooth, seductive depth which is slightly mossy , yet airy with the watery notes of lotus. Sillage is not so great and longevity is rather poor on me but for the price , this gem is worth every drop. I shall use it more often, probably on cold and drab days like this when I need a bit of Oomphy comfort! xxx

This scent came to my possession by an accidental sale run in tkmaxx..I kind of liked the orignal 5th Avenue so I expected this flanker to be somewhat similar - I should have known better, as the other ones I tried were anywhere but close to it..:-D And this one is no exception. It opens up very sharp, synthetic and dries down to a simple honeysuckle-birch-citrus-sandalwood combo. It isn`t a bad thing, but somehow it makes me recall the Green Tea-line and D&G Light Blue at the same time.. Basically in the beginning it`s slightly citric, sharp and at the same time refreshing. On my skin it is a bit like lemon icing, but as time passes it becomes sweeter and a bit more woody in the drydown, yet again I`d rather it just stayed fresh as it is in the beginning.. It wouldn`t hit top scores in the sillage and longevity department - didn`t last more than 3 hours and had to respray - although I can see this a good option for the spring and summertime when you want no heavy scents, but even then I would probably still opt for the original 5th Avenue instead of this one.. All in all it`s pleasant, but nothing special. It`s not too sweet and refreshing so if you like fresh and slightly woody scents and you see it on sale, get it and try it, you might just love it! I can`t see repurchasing it though as I`ve better summer scents than this one..

I bought this on a whim from a bargain bin not knowing any of the notes - the spray bottle itself smelled a bit like the original which I have had in the past and when sprayed on it was a bit bland but within 10 minutes and walking around the store it had evolved into a lovely musky powdery slightly spicy aroma and I decided to buy it. At first try I picked the notes out as hyacinth, lilly of the valley like the original, tonka, and a bit of saffron with a slightly white-chocolately melted wax type note not unlike Omnia. Looks like I was right about a few of those a bit surprised about the lotus and the plum but it is definitely a clean yet musky non-offensive scent that would work in an office/every day wear type setting. I liken it to others such as SJP's lovely, Estee Sensuous and Red Door velvet - easy to wear, non headache inducing, quietly sexy white floral and a bit musky but definitely not irritating to anyone as it really is a skin scent and worn close to the skin without any great sillage. Alot less sweet than the original which was overbearingly sweet on my chemistry. I will happily use this bargain up. I have just realised a similarity between this and an old perfume I used to have called versace 'Baby Rose Jeans' it has a similar powdery rosy sandalwood powdery base but is not as sweet.

After 5 is an elegant, clean and pleasant scent. I would not call it sensual or fun scent that I want to put on for a night out but I could see this as a nice daily perfume. The floral bouquet is pleasant, polite and interesting enough not to bore me during the day. At first I smell a nice fresh bergamot note mixed with a slightly sweet plum. There is also a nice pinch of pepper. But very soon the scent develops into strong floral bouquet with predominant lily of the valley. I have to admit that I love lily of the valley and it is decent here but it is not my favorite as the composition is a bit too sharp and crisp for my tastes. I prefer more delicate lily of the valley. Still, it is a nice clear and clean floral that exudes elegance and class. The floral bouquet lasts for at least 4 hours on my skin finally transforming into a very light and woody musk. I do not find the dry down to be particular interesting. Overall score is 7/10. Elegant and pleasant daily floral but I will not repurchase it once my bottle is done.

This scent is clean and pleasant, not a powerhouse one. Inoffensive and relatively mild, the name After Five might fool others into thinking that this is an evening, out-in-the-town scent (as one review also noted). It's more of a daytime ladies-who-lunch scent, or when one wants to quietly unwind for the day. I don't get the furniture polish smell like some, or laundry detergent. It's likeable and I will use it. When first sprayed on my skin it comes as a strong floral, then after a few minutes turns into a clean, soft and elegant scent. I wished EA didn't brand this under 5th Avenue (as another review also mentioned earlier) because one would now compare this with the original.

One of my current favourits. It is easy to wear, not offensive, not too much of anything and most importantly not sweet. I reach for it every time I don't have a preference. Good for any casual activity. My 17 y.o. son calls it feminine, my husband calls it sexy. I feel well-groomed and neat wearing it but hubby allways gets in the mood when he can smell it on me so it is a keeper. I can't distinguish the notes, nothing stands out, it is a well blended fragrance. Longevity and sillage are both all right, I enjoy it all year around.

I like both Fifth Avenue and After Five. I find After Five to be a very subtle, delicat, soft, creamy fragrance. Great for an early and late afternoon. If I have to weat this fragrance after five, it will be for an 5 to 7 ;) or for a dinner with my girlfriends. I find it to be more "comfort" and casual fragrance than romantic or for a night out. Unfortunatelly, the silage and the lasting power are very poor. After 4 sprays (two of them on hair) and three hours later the scent was completely gone.

This perfume smells so good and promises a very sophisticated, sweet-ish floral and I was very excited when I first sprayed it. Much to my disappointment, its sillage is less than 1 hour on me! :( I do use it, sometimes, as my bedtime fragrance...when I pull the covers up around my neck, the smell is divine!! I am quite intrigued by EA perfumes....& I plan to try more of them in the future...this would be a winner, for me, if the sillage was there! Better luck with other...I hope! :)

Why is this perfume so cheap is beyond me but I am not complaining. This is one of the perfumes that doesn ́t make any big statement but anyway it smells great and I think it is the perfect everyday office scent. It leaves a trail but it is not owerpovering. I can detect bergamon, honeysuckle and lotus. It ́s a bit too much at the begining but it quickly settles. I haven ́t smelled all Elizabeth Arden ́s perfumes but from what I have smelled I think this is the best.

I have contradictory opinions about this one, no way I can decide whether I like it or not. A warm, soft and clean fragrance, at times becomes heavy, I think it would be difficult to wear in hot weather. Incredibly attractive at first, but I just can not cope with it, think it might be tonka bean or musk that bothers me. I was attracted to the plum, like the composition, but the dry-down is just weird,I believe that many like it though.

This is not really an evening fragrance for me. I would say it's still before five for this 5th Avenue. It's a bit more interesting than the middle of the road original but it's not lifted to the level a date-night perfume. It's musky and woody, the florals and fruit bringing it back from going too much in that direction. It's good and much like the original, for the price I think you're getting value for your money. I enjoy it.

I don't know about After Five, I would say Before Five in the AM. This is a perfume I would wear to work during the day. Lots of Citrus and Coriander makes this a pleasant fresh daytime fragrance. I have never been to NYC but I am sure the city is much more electrical, passionate and exciting then this perfume has described. Still a good fragrance just not one I would choose for an exciting night out in New York.

I read the reviews. I have this fragrance in my collection over five years and its down to half bottle. I sort of forgot how it smelt. Soooo I ran for it and sprayed it on.....and re-read some of the comments, analysing the scent with each post. I agree with it not being in your face, but also not young either. It is not a "stand-out" scent. However its beautifully serene. I like it actually.

Elizabeth Arden have it a little rough I feel. They make truly high quality products, but suffer a little with their 'old fashioned' image. After Five is a very elegant, fresh, sweet flanker, very different to Fifth Avenue. Very sweet, fruity opening, which develops into a smooth, floral, musky scent with creamy sandalwood. For the price it's selling at, it's a must have.

i had to go back to this one. after two years from purchasing the giant bottle and avoiding it constantly because the top notes were killing me softly i decided to give it one more try. what a pleasant surprise.i can`t believe it`s the same perfume i judged so wrong. it`s fresh and elegant and i feel like smelling myself continually.i`m amazed, really.

I really, really like this scent. It's light, sensual and clean smelling. It's a little powdery, creamy and slightly woody. On my skin it even smells a little nutty. Unique and lovely. I purchased this untested because the price was fantastic, and I just crossed my fingers and hoped for the best. Turns out it was a smart buy! I picked a winner. :)

I find this one fresh, clean classic, I expected this one a little different...though it is very nice but its a bit too simple for me, I bought this after reading some of the reviews here and I am still not disappointed. I would place this in a category of scents "if you dont know what to wear, wear this one". Its good for day and evenings.

For some odd reason I really honestly like this one, something about it is pleasant and not offensive to my senses at all, unlike 5th Avenue. After Five is pleasant, a fragrance I would reach for again and again. A friend described it as a clean smell that kind of reminds you of the scent of white flowers in spring.

A classy and sophisticated fragrance for daytime use. The only disappointment is that it is not long lasting on my skin. Somehow it reminds me of the perfume Beautiful (as someone else mentioned before) but in a light version. Don't be fooled by the bad reviews. You need to try this wonderful perfume!

It's a moment of peace. A single spray of this perfume, and the atmosphere becomes rarefied, the breath calms down. Quiet in the surrounding countryside, the cicadas in the distance keep us company. 5th A. After Five is an aromatic tea, sipped extremely relaxed with my soul mate or simply alone.

I have the perfume Gel and I quite like it; no hints of furniture or hairspray for me in this; just a nice floral. I do prefer the original to this scent but this Gel formula is still very nice. Lasts for about 4 hours on my skin.

it` so nice:)i love it now. i must admit that at the beginng i had to compare it with Fifth avenue..but i chose this one i like the smell that lasts on my skin i believe it`s nice for coldish days but i just like it

Both Fifth Ave & Fifth Ave After Five impresses. It is long lasting. It is a classic and it wears beautifully in the tropics. It is one of my "feel good" scents.
