Red Door Aura

I am glad to see this added to the databank! I do indeed love being surrounded softly by this Aura! Her bottle is simply gorgeous in a very undertated way much like its older sisters yet stands out nicely on any vanity. It really does linger and project like a ray of light with all those zesty yet opulent notes. Aura is easily wearable on a daily basis and manages to be both sweetly zesty and woodsy-creamy and its structure is well balanced and nicely rounded. I keep my original Red Door for special occasions because I find it much stronger: a power perfume of the 80's inddeed to my great pleasure! When I first smelled this fresh, pretty and sparkingly feminine floriental (to me)it put a smile on my face and a bounce in my step. I love its elegant and classy character and enjoy the raspberry-citrus blast which first greets you with tart juicyness.Aura then becomes creamy with gentle blossoming florals and a rich sandalwood -amber scent .Once more she changes, drying down to a sweet musky scent that still holds more than a hint of raspberry and much sweetness.(I wonder where the sugary notes come from since there is no vanilla. Probably the raspberry) .As the reviewer below stated: Shimmer was a bit too faint for my taste, Velvet is gorgeous and quite enduring with its sophisticated woodsy character. Aura is now one of my favotire florals !

This was a blind buy (among other impulse Arden scents in the Green Tea line). I'm so glad I gave Red Door Aura a chance. I love it and can confirm (like others) that there are notes in this fragrance that remind me of Alien by Mugler. I own Alien and it's obviously far more powerful, well-rounded, and sophisticated. I only use it for evening outings but I would readily use Aura during the day and night. Aura is a lovely scent that might be more agreeable for those who say Alien is far too strong for their taste/everyday use. This fruity floral is well-rounded and smells good for its price point. Longevity and sillage are moderate. A lighter hand is best with EA Aura, especially if you spray it on your top. The raspberry, orange blossom, and bergamot mix in the top notes are noticeable. I'm not sure how well the mid notes shine, but by the time the scent is drying down in about 2-3 hours, the top notes blend very well with the base notes and that's what matters to me. A nice blend of fruity florals and woody/amber/musky notes. I've never tried the original Red Door, but appreciate those who hailed Aura over the original. I can definitely see this as a repeat purchase when my 100 ml bottle is done!

So delicious, balances sweetness and freshness with spiciness and warmth. Smells very womanly to me, particularly after it develops on me, becoming warmer, muskier and spicier (although maintains a floral sweetness) making it much more seductive than the initial fresh, flirty fruitiness, so I personally see it as an evening out perfume. Great for someone like me who's young and wants to venture into slightly more mature smelling fragerences without biting off more than they can chew. Decent spillage to begin with, at least compared to what I'm used to, and can still be smelt on the skin after 6-8 hours on me. Overall a beautiful fragerence that I can see myself using up and repurchasing in the future. ETA: After wearing it a few times I've come to realise that after it's all-but-vanished (after a whole day of wearing) there's a vague but unpleasant public toilet smell left on my skin. I don't take back that this is a scrummy perfume and I'll continue to wear it given I can be sure that I'm able to wash it off (or I suppose apply more?) when it comes to the end of the day/night .

I like Aura, I'm sorry it was only available in 30ml. My body chemistry likes the original Red Door too but the original one is my MIL's signature scent and I doubt my husband wants me to smell like his mother, lol! This is just spicy enough to have some character but not in a way more modern people will find obnoxious. I suppose very scent sensitive people won't like it but I'm not for sensitive people! I'm so frustrated that the sales lady told my husband that it only comes in 30ml and I can't find it here anymore. I could've easily gone through 100ml of this fragrance. I guess there's a greater chance of me finding Thierry Mugler's Alien and all I can hope is that it "behaves" similar to this Aura with my skin chemistry. I'll still keep searching and hope that some branch of Matas still has a bottle for me.

I was puttering around my gym's washroom one day, and the management had generously supplied this lotion for everyone's use, so of course, I tried it. I'll try anything once, especially if it relates to perfume. I liked the interplay between the citrusy, somewhat salty bergamot and the juicy raspberry. This isn't a sugared raspberry note--not that there's anything wrong with that, mind--it's a more natural, rounded raspberry. So the fragrance is somewhat sweet, but not candied sweet (as in Pink Sugar, say). I made a note to acquire this perfume, and ordered it when I got back to work. Whenever I wear Red D'aura (as I call it), I'm struck with how fresh and fruit-pleasant it is. Oh, and the lotion rocks, too. Maybe I should grab me some of that.

The original Red Door is my mother in-law's "holy grail", even though she wears it well it failed to grab my attention but to my suprise Aura is sparkling & a flirtatious personallity to it that evokes an aura of morden women that provokes glamour, elegance and sophistication in her every step. On me the silage is moderate but present (it seems to warm-up and intensifies with my body heat in warm weather but never cloying...a plus as I don't have to reapply)and longivity is about 6-7 hours ending with a warm woody and a bit soft spicy base. IMO, this makes an ideal signature fragrance as it sparkling and sensual all in one. In short this juice has its own character that I find unique (atleast to my nose) hence now my new signature fragrance.

I smell Anise in this or like a tea like scent. It smells so good. It's not a bam in your face type of smell. Very soft and feminine and warm. The Amber in this really brings out that warm feeling and the flowers make this scent very feminine with the right amount of sweetness. A honey like sweetness. I would wear this to work or in the daytime. I would prefer something stronger for nightime. Although Red Door Aura would be good for a date night. It's a very SAFE perfume.

Floral, Fresh, Sweet and Spicy. I detect a honey note on my skin but it's not listed. Might just be the amber. I've gotten some compliments on this. It's safe and easy wear. Long lasting too. I keep catching whiffs and it makes me feel so happy. I'd say that this is a great signature scent as it could be worn in all seasons.

Got a 3.4 oz bottle on Ebay for a great deal based on the reviews. I must agree with several reviewers that the scent in the beginning reminds me of Thierry Mugler's Alien with a little sweetness but the jasmine disappears in the drydown and a raspberry, woody scent remains. It's a beautiful scent nevertheless.

I really enjoy Red door Aura ...On first spray I get the orange blossom then the jasmine starts to come in as it dries down. I wore this to bed and woke up still smelling it on my clothes, it lasts 6+ hours. The notes blends very well together and it can be worn all year round.

Wow, this is really beautiful! I wasn't expecting this at all and I'm very happy. It smells similar to Alien, with the raspberry giving it a youthful twist. You have to wait an hour or so for the dry down to be reminded of the Red Door relation.

I LOVE the jasmine in this! This is absolutely divine in the summertime. The raspberry is very prominent and a lovely compliment. It's a very seductive fragrance with impressive staying power. 10+ hours on my skin. Great job Elizabeth Arden.

Recovering from the flu and playing with perfumes. I layered this over Bronze Goddess (which is very much a skin scent. Very little sillage.). It gives it just a bit more depth, and another branch of fragrance to explore. Very nice together.

I totally agree with dmaw. That is exactly what I though when I tried at Belks today and that is exactly why I bought the gift set. Merry Christmas to me early. LOL

I want this . . . all about the Red Door collection

The original Red Door was one of those fragrances that I couldn't stomach. When I saw a bottle of Red Door Aura at TJ Maxx for a steal and saw the notes and some of the reviews I was intrigued and had to buy a bottle. First impression - sparkly and light hearted, a bubbly and youthful fragrance. I couldn't tear my nose away from my wrist! A little ways in - the perfume has gained some heaviness and depth, and I wasn't so sure I was crazy about it. I wasn't able to discern any specific notes, really, but after how much I loved the initial notes this stage was kind of a letdown. Even further in - the base here is fabulous. After that unsettling stage in the middle finding the smooth base with woods and a soft almost spiciness is really nice. There is something that speaks of class and sophistication without being stuffy and pretentious. I do really like this. I think the middle stage is very similar to what I remember the original Red Door smelling like, but overall it isn't quite as harsh. I feel like overall this is more wearable and less likely to offend anyone sensitive to perfumes. Just don't overdo it! :) I think both fans of the original and those who don't like it could enjoy Aura. And also - this definitely resembles Alien! I was very surprised. Once the base comes out the resemblance lessens, but there is a definite similarity between the two.

I am surprised how much I love this recent Arden release - this is a fresh, yet slightly spicy womanly easy to wear scent which isn't like all the watery floral patchouli-fruitiness which is in abundance at perfume counters as of late, to my nose it is well blended and very classic yet contemporary and I am loving the musky notes. I do get a very small amount of the original Red Door in here (of which I am a big fan) but its well blended into a sea of peppery notes and sweet smooth and seductive raspberry. There is also a good dose of sandalwood and rose which reminds me of Rose Musk incense which I have been trying to find in a perfume for several years. This reminds me of two scents actually - the original Hot Couture and Amarige D'Amour, almost a love child of the two scents on my chemistry - it is very wearable and I can imagine it working for warm or cooler weather it has quickly become my go to scent for when I cannot decide what to wear. Something in this is a bit metallic for my nose of late. It is annoying and almost too cool smelling for me so I have passed this on.

I got this when it first came out. Such an uplifting scent! I loved the sweet raspberry and orange blossom, with that hint of sandalwood and jasmine dry down. Of course, I went nuts over it, bought two backup bottles (it's soooo cheap,) and never finished the first bottle. For some reason, after a few months of wearing it, the magic went away for me on this one. I no longer got the freshness from it. All I could pick out was the raspberry note all day and it seemed to lose it's longevity. It dried down to some sort of tart and sour smell. It might have been that the weather had changed, I probably should have just put it away and tried it months later, but by then, I was just sick of it. Now, I find myself wanting it back, thinking it might smell different. Unfortunately, I refuse to wear perfumes that I associate with past times in my life, so this one has to stay where I left it.

Although I usually like Elizabeth Arden scents, I was a little suspicious of Red Door Aura, because I always thought that the original Red Door is too heavy, sweet and overpowering and perhaps most suitable for ladies of age 50+. The other day I got a small bottle of Aura as a gift - I was pleasantly surprised, I'll readily admit! This variant is significantly fresher and more youthful. The floral notes are lovely and the fragrance feels stylish while remaining modern and fits even the younger woman, I think. According to me, fits the very best during the daytime in spring. Despite its power, it is inoffencive and can be used at all times and places. Aura is feminine and cute, yet very sexy and sensual. It reminds me somewhat of Emporio Armani Lei - but more floral, sweeter, brighter and not quite so strong. I can warmly recommend Aura to all women over 15!

When I first tried this it failed to impress. I put it aside as a giveaway as I’d only got the 30ml bottle. Move on a year...still hadn’t given it away and it resurfaced having been in a box, so dark and cool. It was winter when I tried it and I found it harsh and synthetic smelling. Now (summer 2025) I sprayed it again before consigning it back to the donations box and 20 minutes later whipped it out! It starts fruity, lightly floral, clean, refreshing and on dry down warm, and I’m getting the amber and sandalwood but it’s light. It lasts surprisingly well on me. Blind buy as I love the original Red Door and Red Door Velvet but they’re winter fragrances for me - decided RD Aura is a slow burner but definitely worth keeping. It’s not a show stopper but it’s a great one to keep in your bag and spritz without upsetting the locals.
