Passion

To say that "Passion" is an unexpected and a stand out perfume is to say nothing, really. First sprays invoke a memory of bitter herbs and woods in a wise woman's house lost in the forest, a heady concentration hitting your nose and stopping you in your tracks. It is not unpleasant, but bewildering and peculiar, making you take several sniffs at it. Bergamot with aldehydes come through next, softening the initial "blast" and creating spicy-herbal note with artemisia. Ylang-ylang and LOTV are indistinct as singular notes, but lend themselves to sweetness slowly flowing in. The woods are most plentiful and beautifully done. They are on the dry and sunny side, deep and fragrant. Patchouli lends its bitter-green accord, reinforcing oriental spices feel. Heliotrope and orris maintain powdery facet, whilst jasmine and honey add a slightly drunken/alcoholic edge to the heart. Florals, despite their profiles, are neither too sweet, oily or cloying. Quite unusually, they play the secondary or even tertiary roles, supporting the oriental lusciousness of spiced woods. Incense comes into the heart with moss covered leather bringing composition to its crescendo all the while adding yet another coloured facet to those already at play. I can confidently say that until I tried the "Passion" I did not know that woods had so many different shades and notes. It made me feel like seeing a green titanite (sphene) gemstone for the first time - its incredible play of colours shifting from/between bright and intense green, yellow, orange, ochre and into the reddish brown. As the scent settles into the skin, woods and spices mellow, with vanilla and musk adding airy freshness and maintaining the delicate sweetness. The spices are piquant and golden, and perfectly in balance with all other notes. Civet and musk are unmistakably animalistic, however in an elegant and classic manner, neither overpowering nor creating any unpleasant associations. The "Passion" is a most ingeniously designed in a coherent, logical and seamlessly transitional manner, with depth and nuances so utterly captivating and unique. The scent is most certainly unisex and best suited for special occasions and events, although moderate application during the cooler months will be perfectly appropriate at the office or outside. I also found that this fragrance is a perfect layering companion for those who enjoy creating their own signatures. It goes amazingly well with white and yellow florals, red roses and fruity tobacco. It also anchors lighter notes very well and extends their projection and sillage. So one can compose its own character and passion for the world to see and admire with confidence and panache. "Passion" is a perfume about being true to one self, dedicated and in love with what one cares for and being able to stop the world in its tracks with admiration of fearless intensity of one's heart and mind.

I just bought this for the first time. I have it on today. I bought this because its very well priced and been around for years. I love strong heady spicy woody earthy perfumes. Either really sweet spicy orientals or powdery scents (clinique aromatics elixir has a similar offensive bitter flower opening notes but dries down into a heavenly soapy smell) l can smell such a similarity in clinique aromatics and this. l love em both and now see they have pretty much the same ingredients, thats why l took to this perfume, it was like coming home to a pair of well worn slippers that are familiar and comfortable. Im not a fan of fruity bubblegum scents or just floral scents although l love gardenia and lillies but l feel fruity bubblegum scents belong on 20 year olds not a woman nearing 50 like myself. I like the ingredients to this as they are in most of my other perfumes and reviews say good things about it. Sooo the first impressions: Omg it had a strong way too much lavender smell which isn't in this l guess it must have been the bitter bergamot (which l cant stand but it seems to be in almost everything,) coriander gardenia and lilly of the valley and ylang-ylang fighting for first place and l didnt love it, but should have. l thought oh no this was a mistake, but then the dry down happens and I'm vibing with it, it's turning sweeter and more powdery with the vanilla notes pushing through now as the flowers take a backseat. I'm getting that powdery soapy smell l crave for now. It is indeed a beast but a very nice perfume. I agree not for someone below l would say 35 or maybe a bit older and definitely not for someone new to fragrances it would horrify them. But I really like it. It now has the creamy soapy flowery clean but expensive smell you would imagine a socialite woman dressed in dior or chanel in a silk shirt with gorgeous jewelry perfectly groomed with long red nails and a mink coat who looks immaculate and insanely expensive would smell. I'm imagining Elizabeth Tailor in her 40s smelled of this. I think people are going to compliment me on this one when l wear it. Luckily no one will also be wearing it, as everyone around me always rushes to the latest YSL dior or gucci on the market so it will be unique to me. I don't adhere to times or places or seasons l should wear a perfume, I'm confident and wear whatever my mood desires, the stronger the better, office friendly doesn't exist in my world. I know my scents are gorgeous, strong, and have major personality so enjoy London. 😆 I'll wear it to work, shopping, out at night, l like to introduce people to different perfumes they have never worn, or thought they could wear, and people always ask me what im wearing. I give this perfume a 7.5/10. I wish l could smell the coconut in it though.

Very witchy! This perfume was a such a surprise in the best way! It's like Magie Noire, Opium, and Poison rolled into one but it WORKS! I bought a small sample vintage bottle and it's held up remarkably well. It starts off with a peppery cedar note like Opium and a strong civet scent like Magie Noire. The floral notes help keep the Pepper and Civet in check, though. Poison has that plum/grape soda note that Passion tones way down with just heliotrope and honey and no fruit. It's like Passion is Poison's older sister as Poison can be very childish, like a teenage girl found a black dress in an old trunk and is playing Goth for a day. Passion IS the witch, not just playing at it and ultimately running back to safety with the grape Koolaid note like Poison does. You can never take Poison that seriously because of that kiddie grape note that never goes away. So many perfumes go for youthfulness by packing in the candy and fruit notes, Passions goes easy. There's just a HINT of sweetness, like maybe if you get her alone and get her clothes off, you'll have an amazing time. If she doesn't kill you. Once the cedar and civet gas off, you get heavy, smoky incense, like Poison tries to do in its dry down but never really accomplishes because the grape soda note keeps killing it. You have to really search for that sweet honey note in Passion, but it's there, lingering in the background, urging you to stick around, have another drink. For a while I thought expensive perfumes were expensive mostly because they must have expensive, exotic ingredients, but Passion has all the same ingredients that expensive fashion houses have, yet Passion is a fraction of the price. So it must be that in the perfume world 90% of your dollar is paying for the use of the house name. Decant Passion into a bottle labelled Yves Saint Laurent or Dior or Chanel and people would fall all over themselves to throw down $200 for a bottle. I love this so much I immediately bought 2 more vintage samples. This is a nighttime perfume and probably will knock your socks off in the fall/winter. This is definitely going to be a signature for me for a while. At this price, you might as well snag yourself a bottle, even if it's new and not vintage and give it a try if you like Poison but are always put off by that grape soda note.

I don’t know what it is about this perfume, I’m probably far too young to be rocking this but I just can’t help it. I saw the notes and thought I’d be interested in this as it has white florals, civet, leather and oak moss all of which I love and I’m a fan of big 80s powerhouses and celebrity fragrances. This obviously ticks all those boxes... When I first smelt it the aldehydes literally knocked me out and the spices soon followed. I only had a the small tiny bottle that you dabbed onto your skin and literally one dab blew me away. This is so ethereal and dark, it makes me thing of Anjelica Houston playing The Grand High Witch or Cher when she won her Oscar in 88. A tall, dark haired powerful woman who men literally crawl on broken glass to be In the presence of came straight to my mind. After the aldehydes dry down it’s a warm gardenia peeking through, even though it’s drenched in all these exotic spices and earthy notes the gardenia and the tuberose still try to overcome them with their buttery creaminess. However that doesn’t last long as a Smokey veil of Incense soon seeps through and it makes me think of those little hippie shops they have in Camden market where they have incense sticks burning and you’re going inside to get away from the cold. The civet and oakmoss are beautifully blended with this Incense and it takes about 16 hours for this fragrance to reach this point on my skin. Elizabeth Taylor knew what she was doing when she created this perfume. Fur coats, dark lipstick and glamorous events with a twisted dark side to fame, I’d love to know some of the drama that has gone on at big parties when people have wore this perfume... For such a cheap fragrance this is an absolute classic and should be raves about more. I know it started the celebrity fragrance trend but this one really packs a punch and lasts on the skin (and in time) more that 90% of all other celebrity fragrances. Elizabeth cared about her perfumes and put an awful lot of time and money into them and it really shows. By today’s standards this is easily Unisex. If this was poured into a Tom Ford Private Blend perfume bottle so many people my age would absolutely die over this and pay the ridiculous £250+ prices for it. Either way I’m glad I can enjoy it for £15 for a large bottle lol

1988 Vintage Amber-Chypre/Amber-Spicy Scent with Purple Passion Vibes... This vintage beauty walks the line between being a variety of different styles, especially amber-spicy and chypre-floral scents. At the end of the day though, a few hours in it settles out into a vintage-y amber, and you will catch reminders of several different vintage ambers (Bal à Versailles Jean Despez, Ciara Revlon, Tabu Dana) although the coriander stands out with a lovely spiciness. The mood & tone of this scent matches the film Purple Rain (1984), and although the film was released 4 years earlier, I could imagine Prince or Apollonia Kotero wearing this for a purple passion vibe. Opens with a burst of aldehydes, coriander & gardenia accented by artemisia, but already the spicy incense & civet notes are swelling through. Coriander stands out nicely here in the opening. For me, civet here isn't as forward as the notes would suggest, either that or it's well disguised with spice. I find the civet here less forward than Bal à Versailles Jean Desprez & Paloma Picasso Paloma Picasso. The overall effect here is spicy dark purple vintage amber. As it transitions to the heart, it gets sweeter, with honey & tuberose notes emerging, while oakmoss & patchouli are swelling through tilting this to nearly a chypre. The longer it's on the skin, the more it takes on a creamy sweetness from tuberose, sandalwood & coconut. This is unsigned, but it's not a dupe of anything, although I would put it firmly in the category of vintage ambers/chypres that includes Bal à Versailleds Jean Desprez, Paloma Picasso Paloma Picasso, Poison Dior, Youth Dew Estee Lauder & Diva Emanuel Ungaro. This has excellent performance for year round wear, but the dark purple and spicy amber profile is most appropriate in cooler weather. Contrast to Purple Patchouli Tom Ford: These are different, but there are similarities with a dark purple vibe as well as amber, woody, patchouli, earthy & warm-spicy tones. Passion is spicier with more forward incense & civet notes, while Purple Patchouli is more balsamic. Both have excellent performance. Overall: gorgeous vintage purple passion amber spicy scent, with excellent performance. It's a love for me. Enjoy!

Well, this is gorgeous. I need some time to get acquainted with this scent. Will review in a few days. 🤍 (Just leaving this here to remind myself.) ~~~~~ Alright...I needed a few weeks, but here we go. Verdict: LOVE. 💜 Still gorgeous. This is complex. Very vintage smelling and loud. The 80s in a bottle. Aldehydic. Classy lady type of scent. I wish so much that I’d smelled Passion before ever smelling White Diamonds. They have a similar underlying DNA, and I am struggling to shake the association between the two. But Passion is still very much its own scent. She’s the saucy younger sister of White Diamonds; she wears leather instead of lacy frills. The jasmine in this is almost indecently carnal. Mrs. Taylor’s signature gardenia note keeps this composition “alive” and wet...it never turns to a dusty potpourri. !!️ There is a horrifying coriander blast in the beginning but it quickly goes away. She’d be scary if she wasn’t so sweet, and dirty if she wasn’t so powdery. Thank God for the coconut. The honey. The iris. The civet and patchouli are well-tempered in this fragrance (on me, anyway) - it really comes across like a fancy bar of triple-milled bath soap, at least for the first few hours. Passion wants to be a “bad girl,” but she’s not, and I love her for that. I am insane so I brought my bottle into the shower with me and doused myself while my skin was still dripping wet. Like, all over. Rubbed it in. I’m sitting here now, in my satin bathrobe, feeling absolutely invincible and very, very fancy...which is surely as Mrs. Taylor intended. 💜 Update: 6 hours later...I am still radiating this beautiful scent. It isn’t overpowering or nauseating, despite the warm weather. It’s just lovely. Lots of sandalwood in the base, but not enough to drown out the florals entirely. The patchouli is still (mostly) behaving for me. Great drydown. A quality perfume. To quote Shania Twain, “MAN, I feel like a woman!”

This doesn't smell like the 1980's--it smells like the 1960's!! Liz Taylor in a brocade caftan, skin bronzed and ready to be bared with a neckful of diamonds on a yacht somewhere with Richard Burton (the first time she married him.) Reviewing vintage EDT (Painted gold diamond/purple "inlay" cap.) This reminds me SO MUCH of Jovan Mink & Pearls, but add a touch of tuberose & gardenia, a dash of extra spice, and dial up the smokey incense to level 100. My boyfriend has noted the incredibly sensual aroma of Mink & Pearls, and Passion is like an amped-up version, so the name is perfect. Extra super animalic old school musk ambrette, indistinguishable (aka subtle and well-blended) florals, warm spices like cinnamon and cumin, cool spices like cardamom & coriander, luxurious resins dripping everywhere and man oh MAN does that oakmoss just SING! I don't appreciate coconut much, unless a scent is expressly beachy, but like Cabochard, you can't smell it in the mix, so fear not if you're like me in that regard. If you love 60's vintages, there is a very good chance you will love this, too. It has many of the qualities of the green leather chypres but with added oriental notes, like Youth Dew on steroids. I can't wait to get the pure parfum, EDP, lotion, shower gel, and dusting powder! I want to LIVE in this fragrant cloud and die in it, too! The vintage is easy to get and affordable, look for either VERY LITTLE listed in the ingredients (mine reads only "sd alcohol 40, fragrance, pg, water, benzophenone-2, blue 1, red 33, violet 3) OR look for a longer list but make sure "oakmoss extract" is included. Hope you enjoy this as much as I do. This easily holds its own amongst my heavy hitters, DEFINITELY has the gonads of Alien, Poeme, L'heure Bleue--but has all the nuance and retro sophistication of Mink & Pearls, Cabochard, and Miss Balmain. Passion leans more towards a spicy deep cinnamon with a leather and a smokey incense quality. There is also the hint of a classic lotion type scent. The impression that I get is as if you walked in while a woman was preparing for a night out on the town, slathering lotion on her arms and legs while wearing a sexy slip before stepping into her formal or cocktail gown and zipping it up. The image that I see is Elizabeth Taylor when she played the part of Maggie in "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof". (When I make this reference, I'm not referring to anything other than this movie and role by ET). Elizabeth Taylor's Passion seems slightly more naughty, there is something about it that has a sultry sexiness... so it really does represent Elizabeth Taylor extremely well, particularly in the role as Maggie. (It has been over 20 years since I've seen this movie, I don't remember a lot of the storyline, plot, dialogue, etc... of this movie -- so this is just based on the initial impressions. The Elizabeth Taylor Passion perfume reminds me of the photo shoots that they did for the marketing in this role with Elizabeth Taylor and the white slip she was wearing). This was one of her most daring and sexy roles, from what I remember so if she named this perfume "Passion" then she was probably thinking back to this era in her film career. ----------- Some have compared Passion to Ysatis, but they are really both two separate fragrances - perhaps sisters, but definitely sisters with two separate personalities. The depth of the chord and notes is similar at the start, but quickly Ysatis moves more into a softer floral; Passion carries more drama. It is almost as if Passion is like Elizabeth Taylor - and Ysatis is like Veronica Lake.

I honestly can't wrap my head around why this bottle is constantly in the bargain bin for $20. It feels like a clerical error. If White Diamonds is my signature, Passion is my side piece. He has a BAD reputation. He stays out too late, smokes too much, and probably doesn't pay his bills. He is the one I call when the lights go down. This scent absolutely smells like you're on the hunt for a man and are probably carrying handcuffs and a riding crop. It opens with a big dose of aldehydes and gardenia. It's loud and floral. But the dry down settles into this dark, smoky, animalic mix of leather, incense, and civet. It's sweaty, spicy, and smells like a velvet smoking jacket found on the floor of a hotel room at 4 AM. Oh, how that sentence makes me miss the 90's, but I digress. I have received more compliments from both men and women while wearing this than anything else in my life. To give you an idea of the vibe, a dear friend of mine (who has absolutely no filter and loves a TMI story) spotted me out one night. As soon as she hugged me, she buried her face in my neck and blurted out: "You smell ABSOLUTELY SLUTTY. My god I'm in love!" If that isn't the highest form of praise, I don't know what is. Call it lucky body chemistry, or call it Elizabeth Taylor, the Patron Saint of TOO MUCH IS NOT ENOUGH smiling down from heaven saying, "Well done, my good and faithful hussy!" This stuff just WORKS on me, and I'm so very glad it does.

I remember the year this was released. Whenever I would go to the clubs in and around Hollywood, as soon as I opened the door I would be met with ET Passion and clove cigarettes. Smelling it again now triggers a lot of memories. It's interesting that many other reviewers bring up the strong civet note. I suppose if civet is a new experience for someone it can be a bit overwhelming. But in comparison to something like Aromatics Elixir, Passion is much more restrained. Passion is a moody smokey violet, incense and powder bomb. She's Demi Moore in the 80s in a purple cocktail dress and black leather jacket. I would describe the patchouli in this current iteration as earthy but elegant. Nothing like the dirty patchouli you find in Tabu or Charlie Blue. Perhaps the aldehydes make the patchouli behave. I can't imagine that those who love gourmands and fruity florals will understand this fragrance. It's much too vintage. Also, for those that identify as traditionally male, many will not be comfortable wearing Passion. She's definitely traditionally femine. If longevity is your thing, Passion delivers. And she projects well and will leave a scent trail for miles if you like to over spray. She's best in the fall and winter but on rainy and cool early spring days, Passion is a nice tease of what your blooming shade garden is going to smell like. I will always have a bottle of Passion in my collection. Maybe you will too.

yes i see why many could begin to associate this scent as a maternal in the sense of cultural connotations, this being worn my many mothers and grandmothers during the 80s - 90s frag powerhouse era, but that was more in the west.. I am from eastern europe and what is generally associated as a maternal, ''granny scent'' would definitely NOT be considered ET's Passion. This is a work of art, a striking plumy deep aldehydic almost scary and invigorating start with a soapy (like dove soap bar) start, immediately followed by an insane plummet to your nose with a mystical witchy incense almost reminding me of a witches hut, but the witch is not your stereotypical patriarchal-set witch, shes that love witch, seducing men into having sex with them and proceeding to suck their souls out in a very esoteric manner, shes a vampire, a diva and a mistress of the dark, an alchemist and a woman who knows what she wants, she does not stand somewhere to care, she simply exists and is fullfilled enough with her own presence to not give a singular fuck. All things aside - i do not really care about gender roles in perfumery whatsoever, im a young man who simply chose to wear this fragrance because of the notes, i loved them, i blind bought it and it became an instant love at first sight. Dare i say, this will be my signature scent till i rot 6 feet underground, overly perfumed and nicely set in my mahogany deep coffin..

The bottle is so beautiful and that's why I bought this. It seemed like some kind of crime against humanity for an art deco eggplant bottle to be sitting in a big box store when the bottle alone is probably worth more than the asking price. Forget the juice for a second and let's all take a moment to appreciate a bottle that reminds me of both the Empire State Building and Jessica Lange in a satin slip dress. Although the bottle is opaque, the liquid inside must also be purple according to my imagination. Even if you hate the perfume, you could use it to spray on trees and fire hydrants to confuse neighborhood cats and dogs. Or for some other prank. Keep the bottle for sure, went my thoughts at said big box store. But maybe you'll like it. I sprayed it a few times several hours ago. It's winter. The temperature is in the teens Fahrenheit. I like it but can't imagine craving it every day. It goes with cold weather, black sweaters and possibly dress up clothes that I don't wear anymore. I think some artists might like it, people who don't want to smell like the crowd. It's not subtle really but it could be if you didn't use very much. I get the comparisons to Poison but it's not the same. It's more leathery, woody, mossy and animalic. Poison has a sweet grapey note that is either completely missing or turned way down here.

Giiiiiirluh! This is one of my grown and sexy, vintage and voluptuous, lady in a mink perfumes. There is no casual wear with this. I feel like I’m an expert on the few frags I stole from my mom as a teen, this is definitely on the list. It opens with aldehydes, not No.5 aldehydes but much more 90s style aldehydes, and exotic spices, then rolls into grapey honeyed tuberose and smoky incense powder. The other notes are all there, taking turns as the weather and your body chemistry dictate how much or little of them you smell. Sometimes more coconut, or leather, or sandalwood, or more civet. I hate civet, but this has just a tad to keep it interesting. If you like Avons Mesmerize or D&G red cap, I think you would like this. The old formulation with the purple cap is all I buy, and the smaller the bottle the better the batch. I just bought a 2oz and a 1.5oz, the 1.5s are more incense forward and stick a little closer to the skin, but to me they are also more dense. Stays for days on clothes, I smell it on my skin for hours and hours. Not for a small office space unless you want to make a problem. Husband supports me buying all of the vintage bottles on the internet, he says I should always have this on deck. I want to buy a new bottle and do a comparison someday.

I absolutely love this fragrance. It's not as strong with as much depth as it had in the 90s but at least it wasn't butchered beyond recognition like my beloved Poison. If you're a fan of Amouge's Memoir Woman, the original Poison, and another favorite cheapie "Jontue", chances are, you'll love this for the price point. I love this scent so much, I use it as a toilet spray and NOT because I dislike it, I love the smell of it lingering. I live in tropical weather so it's rarely cold enough to wear it without being overwhelming. Too bad this isn't a lotion and a candle. I have a love hate relationship with tuberose. Tuberose makes me nauseous if overwhelming but... like with Poison the tuberose is blended beautifully here. The tuberose offers just the right amount of sweetness. I've worn this off and on over the years since I was 16 and I'm 41 now. I recommend this to my teens looking for that 'gothy' vibe. For the price point, it's an affordable option to smell bold on a cold winter's night with the longevity of one of my vintage niche 80s bottles of Poison. 🧐🤔Dior certainly doesn't have an excuse to have butchered Poison if Passions wasn't butchered. The incense mixed with spice and everything nice. For $20, can't go wrong in a mid winter's night dream.

This was on my "Perfumes I Had" list due to a vague memory of the bottle and scent, and remembering that I liked it. Seeing a drug store deal on it today, decided to pick it up. After spending the last couple of years experimenting only with niche, discontined, and indie perfumes.....I'm CRYING......this has been here right in front of my face the whole time?? It excites my need for something sweet and fruity, even without the acidity of my other favorites in that genre. Some reviewers have described it as being a cozy sweater type scent - I get that. Although it doesn't smell like grapes or wine, it smells the way concord grape jelly tastes...... purpley, sweet, gingery, and a little bit powdery. The color purple, as a smell. I notice the actual liquid is purple as well. I definately remember having this one and it's bringing me back to the late 1990's when Vanilla Fields, Sun Moon and Stars, and Malibu Musk were sitting around on my dresser. If I remember Sun Moon and Stars correctly, Passion does have a similar vibe. I can't believe this forgotten (by me) gem has been avoided for so long. I feel like a struggle has ended, the vague memory I had of Passion is satisfied, my subconcious search for "more perfume" can finally rest.

A plum cloud of spices, narcotic flowers, dark woods and lust. When Elizabeth Taylor launched her first perfume, I was a teenager. Everyone was talking about it. Years later I was able to sample the male version and I really liked it. The current formula is very short lived on my skin. Then I gave the female version a try and I must confess I love it. For today’s standards Passion is perfectly unisex if properly applied you can actually layer them both. The opening is very aldehydic, you can feel the gardenias and ylang-ylang right on your face. Some people may dislike it but I don’t. Then roses, jasmines, honey, some dark herbs, spices and incense join the chorus to make it a perfectly nocturnal creature. A background composed of woods, dirty civet, mosses and vanilla are the last mating call. Passion is dark, erotic and glamorous all in one. It’s sexual without turning vulgar, elegant without being uptight. It must be sprayed with caution, this potion is strong. The base notes are very similar to Obsession for Men, the opening are a grand dame and the middle notes are a love potion being prepared in a sorcerer’s cauldron. No doubt this is our beloved Elizabeth in a bottle. Golden age glamour, class, sex appeal and elegance.

This is perhaps the best oriental that money can buy. It's hard to believe that you can smell this good for less than $20. I think I paid $8 for my bottle from Marshall's (this was around 2021 or so). It's powdery, smoky/incensey, green (in the opening), leathery, soapy, sweet and animalic (in the best way). The sweetness can be attributed to to combination of honey (which thankfully does not come across as "pissy" in this fragrance) and grapey florals (tuberose, jasmine, gardenia). Passion's animalics (which are pretty inoffensive in comparison to other fragrances) are balanced out by an aldehydic/floral soapiness. Despite it's drugstore reputation, longevity and performance are solid if not above average. If you overspray it could give you a headache, but hell just take a doggone Tylenol and keep spraying. Besides, I've found that any one fragrance can only give you a headache on the initial wearing, after that you'll be immune forever. Bravo Liz. Oh and despite the grandmotherly implications of the note breakdown, there is definitely and androgenous, unisex aspect to this fragrance as well.

when i tell you this is the wildest blind buy i have ever purchased, trust me there is no other wild child like passion by Elizabeth Taylor. this is my first time to smell a perfume with a civet note and i must say that it is a strong note. the perfume almost entirely smelt like civet at first. probably my beginner nose being introduced to a new kind of smell. thank god i gave it a second chance because i sprayed it after a couple hours and i finally noticed the incense and sandalwood notes. this smells expensive, unique, and hard to explain. one spray is enough to have you smelling for hours. the projection is wonderful for the price point. i recommend this if you're looking to expand your smell knowledge. Edit: PASSION GIRL WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN ALL MY LIFE???? honestly after wearing her for some time, I have truly accepted her as she is. Incensey, purple floral, civet, and sandalwood. dark and mysterious. Alluring and beautiful. I imagine a faerie queen having this perfume as her signature scent. I love you, passion by elizabeth taylor.

I find that if you combine a vintage passion with a newly made one you get a wonderful perfume with vintage feeling. Absolutely gorgeous, great projection and longevity. I bought a vintage one (74ml unused) first, out of curiosity and found out after arrival that my vintage, has oxidized and darkened, but middle and base notes is gorgeous, so I bought a newly produced one. My newly purchased one is nice, but nothing more, it lacks depth, spicyness, and warmth. To me my new one is a bit more make-up/lipstick scent, not as nice, more bland, not as spicy, warm and inviting as the vintage one so I layered them and wow. I got a stunning, sexy, warm, inviting, smooth dark perfume. Perfect for a self-comfort day under a blanket or in an elegant dress with heels. The lipstick scent disappears when combined and the perfume get a bigger body with much more depths. Together they are a keeper. One by one-not so much. Vintage one was expensive but newly made one was cheap so together the price was ok. I got them both for under 100€

A nice friend here sent me a vintage mini of this. I own the current formulation and wear it a lot during cold weather. It is a rich, powdery spicy sexy beauty. That being said I can tell the top notes of the vintage mini have gone off so it isn't as potent as today's formulation. It is Passion without the aldehydes, coriander and wormwood. The real difference between the 2 comes through in the dry down there is more civet in the vintage. It reminds me of my bottle of Revlon Intimate and my bottle of Zoologist Civet. Creamy, buttery toned musk. Delicious, sexy, your skin but better. Where with the current formulation the muskiness is cleaner, less civet and I get more coconut in the dry down of today's version. I love both. This vintage mini also reminds me of Avon's Occur! My late grandmother's signature. And she smelled fabulous all the time. She never wore to much, and the fragrance became a part of her. Passion both versions is that same type of fragrance. If used correctly it becomes a part of you.

I tried Passion for the first time only a few weeks ago and I absolutely adore it. I bought a bottle straight away. This scent is so mysterious and dark with its smoky incense and musk smells. It makes me think of Elizabeth Taylor in a fur coat. I can absolutely imagine Elizabeth wearing this and I've read she did wear Passion, she was heavily involved in the making of this. I adore most of the Elizabeth Taylor range. I think her perfumes are up there with the high end perfumes they really perform well. A lot of people say Passion or White Diamionds smell like grandma. I totally disagree, I'm still young and I adore this smell and when I wore it I felt glamorous and sexy and seductive I even had several men give me compliments. Elizabeth Taylor was the real deal. Passion is definitely an acquired taste but for people that like intense dark mysterious smoky and seductive fragrances then this would be right up your alley. If you like Passion try more in the Elizabeth Taylor range.

From a gift box of minis after reviewing ET’s fragrances, Passion blew my mind. Musky, skanky, wet saliva coated bodies in the wake of a boozy, cigarette smoked, dance filled all-nighter at Studio 54. Halter neck silk sheath and gold sandals strewn across on the floor. I get hardly any florals which is fine with me but I’m thinking the powder volume might be drowning them out on my skin. I can smell florals when I sniff the nozzle but not on my skin. I’m comfortable in this type of powdery, skanky, musky fragrance (MKK, Kiehls), and applied with a light hand they always attract compliments. I’d registered a similarity to something I already own but it wasn’t until my friend greeted me with a hug at the restaurant where we were meeting and said, “Oh you smell gorgeous, I don’t think you’ve worn that since we were in Paris?” Ahhhhhh, L’Air de Rien by Miller Harris. That’s what’s familiar. With the skank turned up. Immediately ordered two full sized bottles of Passion 🤣.

This perfume has been on my mind lately. I can't seem to get my mind off this one. Yes, it made THAT MUCH of an impression. This perfume is in the same genre as the original Poison by Christian Dior, but I find this more wearable. There are a couple of notes within this that have made me push this back to the back of my fragrance drawer and not wear as often. This has a slight scent of a woman's lotion - almost like the original Jergens hand cream. It also has a note of civet which I feel dates this perfume. This wears the best in fall/winter - it is slightly too heavy to wear in the spring/summer -- but I could see this being worn for formal events on a cool evening. This is a perfume that adds instant power and confidence. You can tell a lot about a perfume by how other people respond to it. This is a likable perfume, it receives a ton of compliments - and people have a wistful look in their eyes. This definitely has a magical quality about it. It is beautiful on.

I always love when I see a perfume with an Artemisia note because I love absinthe, the scent of wormwood and anise. To be honest, that's why I bought this and also the fact that my Aunt has always called me "her Elizabeth Talor" because of my dark hair. I love this scent! It's incensey and strangely comforting to me. I would imagine a witch would wear this with a black velvet dress. I am not the targeted demographic for this fragrance (I'm 27) but that has never stopped me. I feel like if you have the right personality for a perfume out of your demographic you will be able to pull it off. I wear this the most before I go to bed because all the notes plus the big aldehyde makes me feel cozy. I feel like a movie star just coming out of boudoir in her fuzzy bath robe. The lasting power is just stellar for the price point too. I can still smell this on my wrist when I wake up the next morning!! The bottle is also incredibly cool as I am a sucker for art deco.

New Lotion: less woody, soapier. Wonderful! New Powder: smells WEIRD, gasoline-y, woody. I LOVE IT! ALSO: it's sparkly! Pure Parfum (vintage): fantastic. Floral animalic spicy ambery intense Chypre. For men: also love, unisex, great pillow spray for exciting dreams. A vintage EDP is on the way, I'll update you. For Science! (Update on the EDP--it's wonderful, as expected! Very woody and animalic, the tuberose is a bit more prominent as well. Sillage is about the same as the EDT but the staying power is much better. The EDP's come in tiny purse sizes; I wish bigger bottles were available but I'll just have to be judicious with it.)

I love this perfume!! I bought this for christmas for my grandma and she loved it so I decided to buy myself a bottle. I am 29 years old born in 1994 but I love vintage everything especially perfumes from the 80s, 90s and early 2000's. At first smell this reminds me of coco chanel, the fragrance from 1985. It is very strong, unique and amazing, a tiny bit masculine but very beautiful smelling, it has a projection and personality. Very different from modern fragrances and its a bit magical. It does increase my confidence when I wear it and puts me in a good mood. Its awesome for the price point i absolutely love this one!! :) Think this is my new signature fragrance.

If you wear this at night and your a man, you're a walking enigma, a ghost of the late great Jim Morrison ready to exert sexual prowess on the decadent groupies. This fragrance is decadence, it's not fresh, not clean, not for anyone wanting anything subtle or neat. One spray is enough, it's unisex whatever the votes tell you. Not safe for anything during daytime, clubbing and outdoor concerts only. If I told you the projection you wouldn't believe me, Joop homme projects less, spray for spray, compared to this. If they made a unisex powerhouse in the 1980s this would have to be it. Warning: Choking yourself out is possible with 1 spray 10/10 masterpiece

This is one of the most sensual, dark, seductive, bold and vintage smelling perfumes I have ever experienced! I much prefer it to Poison by Dior! To me it smells somewhat nostalgic and mysterious, like I moved back in time. It's just so different to anything in my collection and I have couple of other vintage perfumes as well. This is something I would wear for a night out in the winter time to a wine bar or when I have chilled evening at home with candles or at the fireplace. The smell of it on my skin is intoxicating and personally I love the aroma and the whiffs of it around. It's something I would wear on special occasions only or just for myself 😊

The reviews are so polarising I had to try it out for myself out of curiosity...and honestly, this is not as scary as I had anticipated. I actually really like it. It is vintage, powdery, animalic, floral and veryyy potent. I sprayed one spray on my arm the other day and it was still present until the next day, and a bit got on my tshirt and is still there now, loud and proud. Its a wilting bouquet of flowers with an incense cloud in a dark dusty attic. I find it both intoxicating and charming, but its certainly not for everyone. You really have to like powdery vintage perfumes and have an old soul sensibility to truly appreciate this gothic beauty. 🖤

What a beautiful scent she is. I wanted something different from what I usually wear, and a friend recommended this one to me. And I am so happy they did. She's heavy but mysterious, dark but delicious. She also stays around for quite some time, around 8 hours or so. She's a bit strong, but it doesn't bother me, really. It has such a woody and interesting combination of scents in it. I get a lot of incense in there too, and I love that scent very much. Reminds me of when I was a kid, when my mom and I would burn some incense every evening. I absolutely love it.

I got this as a gift, I love Elizabeth Taylor White Diamonds and Diamonds and Rubies but never had Passion. This is definitely its own beast! Dark, sultry and unapologetic. I was enthralled on first spray, she evolves with you. Her cloud envelopes and follows you. The dry down is more subtle but very alluring. It's the mysterious Aunt of Dior Poison and Youth Dew. She has definitely fallen into my favourites, a timeless classic to my nose and those who love bold 80s rich scents with a little intrigue will love this!

This is what I imagine tyrian purple smells like! This perfume is so smoky and a little bit sweet, if Poison is grape soda then this is Saperavi wine. The white florals are beautiful and dangerous in a way that makes me think of datura and the purple wings of the night flying sphinx moths they attract, also reminds me of the surreal purple silk cut cigarette ads. I think I'd love to wear this with a dark velvet kaftan and a pretty little art deco amethyst pendant to match the bottle.

I've had the reformulation for years, loved it, wore it, etc. I stumbled upon a tiny glass dabber bottle in an antique store for $4.95 and it's got to be vintage of some sort; this thing is potent! I'm floored, it's dirty in the absolute best skanky way from the civet and leather, but also fluffy clean from the aldehydes and sandalwood; the most beguiling perfume I've ever had the pleasure of encountering. I'm so smitten; the vintage formula is an absolute love.

Some of the reviews mention surprise about Liz Taylor launching such a dark, moody, heady fragrance, but she (very) famously wore Bal a Versailles before creating her own line. Passion is by no means a dupe for BaV, but they share the same character; powdery, animalic, patchouli, indoles. (If you look at the reviews for Bal a Versailles, you will see that it was Michael Jackson's signature-- it was actually Liz Taylor who introduced him to it!)

Wild and crazy grape soda top I can't wear it because the dry down is too feminine, but it took me forever to give mine to my fiancée because I loved taking random huffs off the atomizer. Even though I couldn't keep it for myself, this was one of the best blind buys I'd ever made. Crazy cheap when I found it. Amazing art deco product design, from the package to the bottle, and a truly incredible 80s style fragrance. Probably eleven out of ten.

So I bought a new version of this the glass is clear and it's a whisper of what it once was. I bought the vintage version both parfum and by far the vintage is great Sexy spicy provocative powerhouse. The new version is light fresher and definitely not the great perfume it once was. So if you buy this vintage all the way! Quality has gone down in everything nowadays in 2024 the stuff from the early 2000s and under are the best

Best celebrity scent ever! This is soapy, incensey chypre/amber hybrid with nice musk and leather notes. I love the subtle sweetness. It's in the same family as Ysatis and Paco Rabanne A La Nuit but with an herbal soapiness that wears well in any weather. I prefer the vintage but the new formula isn't bad at all. Passion is much better than White Diamonds in my opinion. My favorite out of that line is Diamonds and Rubies.

Yep, I wore this in the fourth grade. By ten, I wore Ysatis. Eleven years old, I wore Nakomis and at twelve years old I wore Poeme. Anyhow, I just thought why on earth would I suffer for not being able to purchase the high-end fragrances when this is the embodiment of sultry, deep dark and delicious? Just think--a drop of this and everyone knows that you're a person with magic. This is not outdated even though it's 2026.

It’s giving “Honey, will you hold Mommy’s cigarette while she helps you put on your coat” vibes. Mommy really wanted to be the next Stevie Nicks, but got wrapped up in a bad relationship instead. She’s full of empty promises. A cashier at a truck stop. Maybe things will turn around, but til then there’s this sultry, animalic aldehydic bomb to hide behind. Edit - Oddly enough, something about this has just grown on me!

dark, rich, decadent. y'know, everything to expect from a perfume called Passion. yes, post reformulation it got lighter, but it's woody / powdery / boozy via animal feces vibes remain. it's the perfume to put on when you want the femme / homme fatale in you not just to live, but to thrive. a fragrance that thrives in colder temperatures, but I believe the bold soul can pull off Passion even in the wildest of heats.

Cheapie version of Bal a Versailles by Jean Desprez, great to combine with. Love it when it’s that time of the month, when it’s not, I don’t care for it. Body chemistry is so fascinating. Vintage, long lasting and polarizing. Good blind buy if you were curious about 1960’s style expensive perfumes. My grandma wore this so that memory helps too. Not for everyone but at $20 USD or less, an easy experiment.

White Diamonds has been a constant in my lineup ever since I first started collecting fragrances, but it's taken me until now to try her dark, saturnine older sister. I'm in love. Very much the same DNA as White Diamonds, but more sultry - the budget answer to a Dior Poison or a TF Black Orchid. I envision dark lipstick, stiletto nails, leather boots, and lacy black dresses when I smell this masterpiece.

I have a row of small bottles of vintage "drug store" perfumes on a shelf in a very old white metal mirrored medicine cabinet in one bathroom. I know it's not a great location for perfumes, but I put them there for snoopers to discover and I like the total look. I just sprayed on my Passion and it's still fresh and lovely, years later. I forget the dynamic top so it always surprises me, pleasantly.

This perfume reminds me of my granny... and of woodsmoke, warm Appalachian wind, wildflower honey, freshly washed faces and linens, Sunday mornings at church, and the most beautiful flowers in North America. It can't be a coincidence that my late grandmother adored Imari and Habanita. Being alive never goes out of style. Nor does a good home-cooked meal.

I got a vintage bottle of Passion from eBay, and lemme tell you: this baby can PERFORM. It's not as dark as I'd have liked, but it grew on me. Passion leads more clean, but the woody, animalic base prevent it from being a generic, fabric softener type of scent. Lasts for 7-8 hours on skin, and for a whole week on clothing. Be careful with overspraying though. This stuff is nuclear!

I swear, this is what the classic Maleficent smells like. The queen of evil is also a night seductress. That's my description in a nutshell. The bottle even looks like it belongs on her vanity! Absolutely love. I can't pick out the individual notes, except for the smokey incense. Best worn in the night time, but winter mornings are a safe bet too!

I love this, it's my late-summer favorite. I recommend this to lovers of Paloma Picasso, Poison, Giorgio, Cabochard and LouLou. It's incensey, tuberosey, powdery, and oh-so-oakmossey (even in new formulations, the farnesol battens the hatches!) Spend a little more per ml and getchu the vintage, it's grapey, dreamy, gardeniatastic & so worth it!

Elegant less invasive than most of what passes for oohh la la "perfumes" mass synthesized nowadays Pleasant mild ambery musk with tame dose of spicy florals well blended. i don't see how this can offend anyone. Having said all that, would have liked a little more of the coconut or vanilla shine through as I don't detect them at all.

Passion is bold yet balanced, powerful yet sophisticated, and dark yet not suffocating. The profile is woody, floral, and musky, and can perform. It reminds me of CK's Obsession 1985, but more floral. Be warned: you need a light hand with this one! I accidentally oversprayed for the first try, and had a coughing fit.
