Bee

So I primarily wear jimmy choo illicit, my all time favorite scent. Lately I've been looking for other events that aren't discontinued. I love honey fragrances. But I find that many perfumes with honey notes lean towards floral, rather than Amber or gourmand. Bee is a whole story. For me, i can smell every single note as it dries down. This is definitely not a safe blind buy, because the notes are far too significant to work for everyone. When I first sprayed it I immediately smelled the rum. And a green scent in the back ground. It woke up my senses and I smiled a bit because it was rather unexpected. Then I smell the honey and cinnamon, and for a second it reminds me of illicit, because it pretty much dissipates into a Amber gourmand fragrance. You can certainly smell the cacao at the end, alone with the vanilla and the sandalwood is nearly unnoticeable. If I truly had to compare bee to any other fragrance, I would only say that the cacao note is VERY similar to the coco radiant Vaseline lotion. If you like that lotion and want a perfume that pairs well with it then I strongly recommend sampling this bad boy. Because it really goes nicely together. This is a perfume you shouldn't spray on your clothes. Because if you do there is minimal dry down and the rum sticks around all day. And the rum opening is STRONG. I mean, it's soft... But it's strong. Like you definitely know that's the exact note they're going for with that opening. In short, I think this is a cold weather fragrance. I could see wearing this on a night out too, though. If you like boozy, gourmand, honey, vanilla, you will probably like bee. It's a soft, sweet fragrance with a intense story to tell.

I can't believe I actually like this one. If I even think of honey or see it anywhere I can instantly throw up. That specific reaction to honey was caused by my mother (smother) who used to make me eat a tablespoon of this disgusting mix of honey and black onions, and this was a daily occurence. I grew up hating honey, and now as an adult, I really don't want to have anything to do with it. However, I just recently discovered Vanilla Milk, which really threw me for a loop. On the first blast I thought it was the worst perfume I have ever smelled, but it slowly transformed into pure heaven. Today I decided that I would love to test the rest of the line, and I started with Bee. Honey in Bee is truly potent and quite chemical smelling at the first spray. I found it sickening. It's like you mixed a pure honey with gasoline and turned it into lotion, just unspeakable. However, thirty minutes later, the magic started to happen. I started liking it more and more. It slowly transformed into full blown, boozy gormand with very little evidence of any honey present. Bee is really beautiful perfume, in fact, it seems that entire line is nothing short of amazing. Performance is not beastly, neither is projection, but I will have to get this for my daughter whose name is also Bee🐝

It's pretty crazy how polarizing this scent is if you look at the previous reviews! As for me, I own it and I actually love it. No dirty coffee mugs to my nose (!!). First off, I think you really have to like the smell of honey, and you have to like sweet perfumes in order to appreciate this. To my nose this smells like a soft honey shampoo, which is probably from the addition of the bran note (lots of shampoos from the 70's had honey and wheat germ, which is similar). I'd say it's great to wear in the Fall and Spring, maybe too sweet for hot summer days. I'd also use this as a layering scent to add honey sweetness to something. I may try layering this with BR 540. This also might layer extremely well with TF Lost Cherry. I prefer this sent to Ellis Brooklyn Sweet, which I also have, but that one is over the top sweet. I may have to do more wear tests to be sure of how I feel (I was drawn in by the marshmallow note). Bee might also smell absolutely amazing layered with a chocolate perfume. Really, skies the limit!

Bee is honey cinnamon sticky buns with a boozy, rummy glaze. It opens with a *strong* blast of photorealistic honey that sits just on the right side of too sweet/strong, but within the first half hour to hour, it mellows into a softer, warmer honeyed pastry as the bran and cinnamon peek through. The boozy rum note is mild and just adds to the warmth without tipping into bar floor territory. This is gourmond gourmond gourmond, so if that's not your vibe, you probably won't enjoy this, but if it is... well. Get ready to slather yourself in it. It has good longevity, moderate to strong sillage, and may be too strong for anyone who likes a lighter, fresher gourmond. This leans more winter/autumn appropriate to me and I want to give it a try later on in the year to see how that changes things, but that said, I think you could wear it year round as long as it wasn't a super, super hot day. It's the only Ellis Brooklyn scent I've tried that I truly enjoy and could consider getting a travel spray or even a full bottle of.

This is a great, big, LOVE for me! Absolutely beautiful and addicting. It's one of my longer-lasting perfumes. I have a small dabber bottle for testing but I already ordered a full bottle, I love it so much. There is almost a mint-like quality to it (am I the only one picking that up?), a brisk little zing in the dry down that balances out the honey sweetness - I'm not sure if it's the davana - I don't know much about that note - but I adore it. I plan to wear this into the spring, probably on those chillier days - it's a cozy scent but not as autumnal as many other gourmands so I think it will be really nice for springtime, with the honey being a fitting natural theme for the season. Interesting that this one seems kind of polarizing - maybe you'll either love it or hate it, but it's a LOVE in my little world! This is the only Ellis Brooklyn fragrance I have. I sampled Salt and Myth, and didn't love either of them, but that's OK - this is the one for me!

This is what I was hoping Angel’s Share would be. (The apple pie note in Angel’s Share is a big turn off for me because I just don’t want to walk around smelling like apple pie). The bran/wheat note is front and center for me as soon as I spray this, it’s pretty potent up front but it doesn’t lead the race for very long thankfully bc it’s a note that kind of makes me a little nauseous (a similar note sits somewhere in the Ellis Brooklyn Vanilla Milk fragrance as well) then what emerges is the most creamy buttery delightful vanilla, the rum doesn’t come across as abrasive rum straight from the bottle but reminds me more of a rum eggnog, drenched in buttery vanilla creaminess so the harsh alcohol smell doesn’t happen here. I get the tiniest dash of cinnamon and drizzle of honey. It drives my fiancé crazy every time I wear this. Longevity could be better but I personally don’t find $108 for 1.6oz to be super expensive so let the overspraying commence.

This is a lovely honey fragrance. I too, though it smelled of honey flavored cough drops in the first 3 minutes of wear. But the dry down is so captivating! It turns into a warm, boozy vanilla/ honey bomb! So I got used to the smell and I can no longer smell cough drops, because I love it. The drydown comes in after about 15 minutes of wear, and that's what Bee is about, honestly, it's the drydown. It sits close to skin, and it last and last...to my nose, it isn't sickly sweet, all the notes balance out with each other. That being said, Bee doesn't smell like 'raw honey', or honey straight from a bee's nest, or bottled honey. It's smelled like perfumed honey, because the drydown is a mixture of notes. But that's what makes this heavenly. Bee has a DNA of it's own. Autumn is around the corner. I'm going to rock this and buy some back up bottles for the winter. I think you should too!!

I absolutely adore this! I wouldn't have picked it from the notes alone as i'd have been put off by the rum and bran.. but personally I don't detect these. I picked this up for a sniff in Space NK and was instantly in love with the clean honey and warm sweet vanilla. There's a mineral vibe in there too which I wouldn't normally like but it gives the right balance to everything here so that it can't be cloying, in my opinion...and the honey gives more depth to the vanilla without being too HONEY if that makes sense. I knew someone who used to wear a honey perfume that I found repulsive because being around her felt like being suffocated in a jar of actual honey. So im careful with this note now. it's soft enough in this juice. It's an easy every day wear and it just makes you smell gooood, have had loads of compliments with this one.

I just received a sample of this free, with an online makeup order. I didn’t ask for it. It wasn’t on my radar at all, despite the fact that I love vanilla perfumes, amber perfumes, and gourmands. If I read the reviews here, I absolutely would never have bothered to get a sample. I sprayed it today for the first time. The initial spray was somewhat cloying sweet. But the dry down is amazing. I think it’s the bran that my skin chemistry is picking up and amplifying. I love it! It is a clean girl fragrance. Vaguely reminds me of a shampoo from the eighties that I can’t remember the name of. Somewhat soapy, warm, and comforting. I feel like this is suitable when you want to wear something inoffensive. I feel extra cuddly and huggable. 2-3 sprays is enough. I reapplied at lunch. It became overbearing and headache-inducing.

Ellis Brooklyn, Bee, is the first perfume I have tried in almost 10 years! When my sample came, I couldn't wait! And I just have to say that I am SO, SO happy! I simply adore this perfume so much! Unlike many other reviews on here, I found that I really enjoyed the opening. It reminded me of boozy, sweet cigar/pipe smoke - which I really enjoy the smell of, and then it mellows into lush, warm honey vanilla on my skin. Simply divine! My only complaint is that I could do with a longer dry-down as I did like the opening. I will be adding this to my collection for sure! EDIT: My 10-year-old son just came into the room and said, "I love the smell of you!" - So I would call this a hit in my house! He described the perfume as a 'wedding perfume - for special occasions.' Perhaps I should get him to write my reviews??? :)

It's a YES for me! I too, got a 100mL bottle w/ a reduced price from TJ Maxx. I have never smelled a real honeycomb, but I bet if did, it would probably smell like this! I have other fragrances that have honey in them, but when I wore this, I felt like it was a pure, undiluted, fresh honey fragrance! There is something about this that is intriguing to me. It isn't extremely heavy, but it has some depth - and the honey is light, but rich at the same time...it's not a faint honey smell at all. This IS honey for you. It's wearable to me in the heat w/o making me feel "icky." I would have never grabbed at something like this necessarily; but after experiencing it, I am so happy I did.

wearing this scent for the second time and it’s quickly becoming a favorite of mine. the honey note is syrupy without being sickly sweet, and combined with the rum and cacao it becomes so deep and rich. i’m of the opinion that it’s a gorgeous summer scent - the cacao is the most dominant note after around 20 mins, but i find that the sun brings out a sharper whiff of honey every now and then. it reminds me of a tanning lotion my mom had in the late 2000s, so i can only imagine wearing it on a sunny day at the pool or on vacation. i’ll definitely be investing in a full bottle for next summer

I first tried this the day it arrived in the mail - when it was in ship shock, with an unprimed nozzle, smelling like unappetizing animalic bran. I knew enough to try again in a month. I can’t identify the bran now and the honey is hardy animalic anymore. It’s sheer and warm. Barely sweet. I mainly get the rum, honey, and vanilla with what smells like a veil of marshmallow powder and a dusting of tobacco. There’s an herbal tea-like undertone. Smells a lot like mimosa to me but that note’s not listed. Another love from Ellis Brooklyn. An easy wearing, perfect addition to the summer rotation.

ITS SOOOOOOOOOOO PERFECT!!!! Don't let the rum note scare you off. You won't be smelling like a pub with this fragrance. The rum adds such a deep warm spicy sweetness to it, much like an apple cider, but without that pumpkin spice vibe. The honey and bran are so good together. I guess the cinnamon note is more on the subtler side. The dry down reveals a warm vanilla that's far from basic. Not getting much of the balsamic scent though. I'd like to think of this fragrance as the VS PINK honey mist's Cool Mother. Sophisticated, sweet, fun, a bit daring at times, turning heads.

This is one of my favorites and I got it at TJmaxx...2 times! It didn’t smell like much to me when I first got it but I came back to it a month or two later once it started getting colder out and it feels so thick and sexy/cozy. Imagine angels share mixed with Ode to Dullness JHG - it’s the honeyed comfort version of that to me. Hope that makes sense! I think this is the perfect “rum entrance” perfume. Enjoying honey is a must but don’t be afraid of the alcohol notes. It does have a heavy handed atomizer which I don’t love, so I spray from a further distance than normal.

Surprisingly, I'm seeing a lot of negative reviews, despite the good rating. I personally love this perfume, my new favorite! It's sweet, sticky, and boozy, with a woodiness that reminds me slightly of Angel Muse. This is definitely an acquired taste, and you have to know what you like before you commit to a full bottle. It lasts a decent amount of time, and projects pretty well. To me, the price is right. And the bottle is to die for! Tbh I mix this with light blue intense and it's perfect for summer, though it's weird, kind of niche-y and hard lemonade-ish

Absolutely gorgeous! Perfectly gourmand sweet in a way I've never quite experienced before. I really wasn't expecting to like a honey fragrance so much, but I truly am impressed! Sweet, powdery, spicy, boozy, just good on good on good. Almost reminds me of Honey Bunches of Oats or Honey Nut Cheerios! I'd wear this any season at any time of day. Average longevity and sillage, not notably good or bad. Tester bottle, so the atomizer is beyond me, but the bottle is plain and cutesy. Very pleasant surprise, will likely be purchasing a full bottle! 9/10!

I love this perfume but can understand how so many people don't. It's super sweet, boozy, and in your face. I love the smell of honey so if you like smelling like you're drizzled in it this may be your thing. I like to add this in small amounts to other lowkey scents to sweeten them up. I only have a small sample roll on but will probably replace this once it runs out and goes on sale. The price is a bit steep. I did buy an Etsy dupe called HoneyTrap. I hope it's close enough in profiles so I can save some money on this perfume addiction. :)

WOW! This is absolutely beautiful! It reminds me of Rich Warm Addictive a bit in the beginning but it gets so much better and more feminine as it dries down. I can smell every single note listed in the correct order. It is heavy and potent to begin with and when I first sprayed it, I thought this will be a winter only perfume but after it dries down, it does become softer. I think this would work in spring too but I am not sure I would try it in summer. I definitely wouldn't recommend in a hot humid climate for sure but I adore this! :)

The gourmand haters will NOT be fans of this one. Good thing I love smelling like a sweet treat good enough to eat 😁 A deeeep syrupy mix of vanilla, honey, and rum. I can smell a little bit of the cereal note in there too lol, I think its subtlety plays off the other louder scents well. Something so rich that if it were a real dessert you would only be able to take two bites before you have to stop, but it's so delectable the stomachache is completely worth it. So sweet it'll make your teeth hurt.

Not entirely what I was expecting, but I'm not mad about it! I can definitely smell the honey, but the rum and cinnamon definitely stand out right away. It's a little overpowering at first but the dry down is really good, although sits close to the skin after a short time. I wouldn't get this if you're looking for something particularly gourmand. It's sweet, sure, but equally if not more spicy thanks to the rum and cinnamon. Gave my nose a vapor rub feeling on initial spray haha.

🐝 Bee by Ellis Brooklyn: 🥰 a rich, deep, creamy, sweet-but-not-too-sweet, honey-vanilla gourmand; I am SO deeply in love with this; it has me in a chokehold; 🥴 I am craving it & I NEED to own it! 😍💞 This is one of only 2 honey-vanilla fragrances I feel have been done exceptionally well; the other is Honey Mist [& Honey Lotion] by Victoria Secret & it's a fruity-floral, honey-vanilla gourmand. (That being said, Honey Mist has been reformulated and is no longer as fruity & juicy.)

I love honey. I love gourmand scents. This is SO GOOD. very boozy in the opening, you might think “hey where’s the honey?” But don’t worry, give it 10-15 minutes and it’ll start to come out. An hour later, the honey starts to shift into vanilla territory. It’s still honey, but a little softer and cozier. I love this. I would say if you are an Angels Share enjoyer, this is right up your alley. Less complex, more casual, but they’re definitely in the same family. I love!

Pure honey at first, dripping and sticky. Sweet, cloyingly so but for some reason, I can’t get enough of it....in the background, to my nose, there’s a chocolate note that is floating around and it gives this fragrance a magical twist! The dry down is a beautiful and heavily honeyed vanilla. It’s luminous and cozy with a touch of sexy. I love Bee and it’s one of those fragrances that stays with you even after it has long disappeared. A true love 🍯✨✨✨✨✨

God, I love this one so much. I wasn’t a sweet girl until I tried Bee, and it’s sent me on a gorgeous sweet fragrance journey. It’s straight up honey and vanilla to me and it lasts all day. Typically, I lean towards musks and powders, but for days when I just want to smell nice and pretty I turn towards Bee. It is VERY sweet for sure, but damn it’s good (and affordable!) The travel size lasts forever, just buy it and keep it in your bag- it’s worth it!

Probably in my top 5 favorites!! I'm a huge gourmand and warm spicy lover, and this is very sweet and delicious smelling without being sickeningly so. I would say that this is a perfect perfume for winter or fall and maybe cold spring, because in the heat it can be a little overwhelming. The sugary sweet honey is balanced really well with the boozy and spicy notes, and it overall is a really appealing fragrance if you like smelling edible :)

Sweet with a tang that brings to mind actual honey. I feel like this is a warm and gourmand scent that's actually suitable for summer. It's very sweet, so I go light with it. I've been layering this with Super Amber to make it a bit more interesting and less of a complete sugar bomb, although Bee lasts longer that Super Amber. Still love it though! Also, the boyfriend loves it. This is the fragrance for giving great-smelling hugs.

I love this so much but it does not last beyond 2 hours for me. I would love to find a dupe that lasts longer. This is the first honey scented fragrance I have smelled and has set the bar for anything else I smell afterwards. Such a sweet and warm fragrance. I feel like a goddess wearing this. So many compliments. I’ve worn this in the spring, summer and fall with no issues, though it seems to last longer the colder it gets.

I love a good gourmand scent! Something about Ellis Brooklyn perfumes agrees with me because they always last at least 8-12 hours on my skin. I sprayed this in the morning around 8 AM before class and by the time I woke up the next morning I could still smell it on my wrist before I showered! I'd recommend this for a cozy fall afternoon while you're knitting or a fresh spring morning while eating baked goods in your garden.

It's lovely, fruity and sticky and warm like the sun, but you've gotta be careful when you spray. Very strong stuff and every time I smell it in public/on someone else it smacks me in the face like a honey-covered fist. I suspect the only reason it isn't rated more highly in terms of projection is because it's strong enough to make you go noseblind within an hour or two after application.

This is one of my absolutely favorite scents but I also, absolutely, understand the polarized reviews. Bee is cloyingly sweet and boozy at first spray and I get why some may say it doesn’t smell like true honey. I’ve honestly never smelled a single thing that smelled like true honey, besides honey. That being said I really enjoy the brand’s take on honey

Sweet, boozey honey with a bit of spice! I adore this one. It's not the most photorealistic honey but I see that as a plus because it makes it less cloying, and you could get away with wearing this on a warm spring or fall day. I feel like longevity on this one became better as it aged, one year in and I can smell it on my clothes for days.

I just love this scent! Such a nice boozy honey. It can be too overpowering if you spray too much, but it's perfect for going out on a winter day, when it's super cold out and you just get a hint of it. Definitely would be too nauseating in a tight space or during the summer. But amazing unique gourmand for the winter!!

I tried this one day on a whim in Blue Mercury and I found myself sniffing my arm all day. I've always liked the honey scent in Farmacy beauty products and this is similar. it's warm but not too sweet, I don't know, I just adore it and it lasts all day without being obnoxious. Recommended if you like all things honey.

This perfume is rich, full-bodied, and gorgeous. It is honey, rum, and spice but nothing is overpowering the other. I only need one spray for this to last all day and it will be on my clothes until I wash them. I look forward to wearing this perfume every fall and sneaking it in on cooler days leading up to it!

This fragrance is ADDICTIVE. Not really something that I even thought that I would like... Until I saw it at TJ Maxx for a steal,100 ML for $59.99. Scooped it up as it was the last one In the case. Sprayed it on as soon as I got into the car...and WOW. It is warm, cozy, sweet, but not overly sweet.

The notes are correct. I get liquor and then honey, the most toothsome sticky golden sweet honey smell. Sillage is great and I get compliments. Compared to Zoologist Bee, Ellis Brooklyn's is more gourmand sticky honey, while Zoologist is lighter, smells like sweet nectar and white flowers.

this is suuuuuch a good honey scent. super honey forward, with warm spicy notes too. absolutely love this perfume. I disagree that it can't be a summer scent. personally I'll be putting this in my summer/fall rotation immediately! one of my favorites immediately.

Love this for cooler weather. It can be overpowering in smaller spaces but it's a regular cool weather perfume for me. On me the rum is quite strong creating a wonderful boozy honey scent with a hint of the spiced vanilla coming through as it dries down.

This scent reminds me of Palmer's Cocoa butter body lotion/any of the cocoa butter products. amazing!! Girlies, layer Bee with cocoa butter and you'll be smelling soooo good! Such a unique scent, I get more cocoa mixed in with honey and vanilla.

Gorgeous, addictive, sensual honey scent. The best one I've smelled, I only wish the sillage was stronger. Unlike most of the honey scents on the market this one is for women and smells lovely on the skin. I only wish the sillage was stronger.

I really like this. Spray with caution though, it's potent. It's very cozy, sweet, rich, honey, rum, mildly medicinal in the opening. One spray under my shirt and that's plenty! I catch whiffs throughout the day!

Sweet, delicious nectar! In the winter it smells more like straight honey on my skin. In hotter weather, I get more: rum, cinnamon, cacao are all more pronounced, but still very much a honey scent. Decadent!

I get so many compliments when i wear this perfume, and i love the scent. It does remind me of honey butter menthols, but in a good way.

I did previously review this, but wanted to write an updated one after wearing it more. Sweet, honey, vanilla, cinnamon, warm, warm spicy, boozy, woody, powdery, rich, decadent, smooth, feminine, sensual, chic, charming, whimsical, dreamy, delightful, intriguing, alluring, tempting, intoxicating, addictive, inviting, cozy, comforting, unique A beautifully unique, rich, and decadent honey fragrance. On me this opens with a splash of boozy rum, rich golden honey, warm spicy cinnamon, and wheat-y bran. These notes stay intertwined throughout the dry down as the sensual and powdery vanilla, sprinkle of cacao, and creamy sandalwood become prominent too. The dry down is really beautiful, and is a lovely powdery vanilla and sandalwood laced with honey and cinnamon, and it rounds out the thick richness of the honey. Overall, honey really is the star of this show, and other the notes that are the most prominent on me are the cinnamon, vanilla, rum, and sandalwood. Bee has really grown on me over the couple of years that I’ve owned it. I’ve always been interested in honey and cinnamon notes, but I’ve never found anything that felt like me, and like it was super wearable. This isn’t something that I’d reach for on a daily basis, however when I’m looking for something sweet and decadent this is an excellent choice. This feels quite unique. I think having a larger variety of fragrances to choose from made me enjoy this more. I think it grew on me because I no longer feel like it’s something that I’d be considering wearing regularly, but only when I’m in the mood, and it’s much more fitting for that. To me this feels feminine, and suitable for women of any age. This is such a lovely fragrance, especially during the colder months of fall and winter because it’s so sweet, warm, cozy, and comforting. It feels suitable for any occasion from casual to fancy. I wouldn’t really consider this a safe blind buy for most, but definitely worth trying if you’re looking for a honey fragrance. I’ve really gotten into Ellis Brooklyn fragrances a little more lately, and have several in my collection. I own their mists in Marshmallows (my favorite of the line!), Sandra, and Vanilla Sin. I have the perfumes in Vanilla Salt, Queen’s Caramel, Miami Nectar (my faves!), Bee, Vanilla Milk, Salt, and Myth. I get good performance with Bee. The longevity is decent, about 5-7 hours on my skin. The projection is moderate, it radiates out at least a couple feet from me.
