Fawn

This is a great summer perfume! I love beachy, sunscreeny, white floral scents in Spring/Summer and have Soleil Blanc, Eau de Soleil Blanc, Vacation by Vacation, Bobbi Brown Beach, Alien Goddess etc. Wore side by side with Eau de Soleil Blanc and they’re near dupes. If anything EDSB is very slightly warmer and Fawn is ever so slightly more aquatic/salty. I got Fawn for a great price and am very happy to have her :) As compared to SB, Fawn is far less floral and heady. Definitely less fruity than Vacation and less musky/perfumy than Alien Goddess. If these are your type of scents, go for Fawn. Do you need it if you have SB or EDSB? Prob not, but why not :)

I did not expect to love this one- I feel like I have smelled every summer/tropical/sunscreen scent under the sun and nothing could surprise or impress me anymore. But Fawn is a beautiful and unique version of these! It combines it all- with a bit of floral in there too. It smells like an expensive coconut sunscreen, with a floral perfume layered over it, while drinking a limoncello spritz. It smells delicious, tropical, expensive, inoffensive, and gorgeous!!! I would definitely consider it unisex, which normally puts me off a scent tbh, but this would be delicious on man or woman with a slight lean towards being feminine.

I bought an Ellis Brooklyn 10 travel size bundle from a great seller on eBay. They threw in samples of this one and Miami Nectar. I kept this one as my purse spray refresher- and every time I sprayed it on, it was so refreshing, clean, and sparkly! Found a great almost full bottle through a Facebook fragrance group, $25 shipped. Just received it and it is every bit as pretty as my sample, even better! I love the balmy sunscreeny aquatic vibes with the creamy base, so enjoyable, and it absolutely radiates in the sun! Very happy with this one!

I was so surprised by this perfume. It is so nostalgic to me! This is a really creamy floral scent. I do get coconut but not in a sunscreeny banana boat kind of way. This reminds me of an old Harajuku Lovers perfume I had as a kid but I can't quite place it. For me this conjures up a feeling of innocence perfectly mixed with class. I've tried other Ellis Brooklyn perfumes and this one has amazing staying power on me compared to others. Especially on clothes!

I do like this one very much. Never thought of It as beachy. Never picked up the coconut in it. To me, it was always a neroli bomb with amber..at least, on me. I wear it with a good orange blossom lotion to extend the wear. One of the best of EB, imo. It's not earthshaking or super original but it's well blended and smells really good. The price is ok too.

A sophisticated woman at the beach. Do not understand the hate, this is stunning! Delicate beachy florals that walk the line of sunscreen/tropical drink but expensive smelling. Lovely! Can’t believe I found this at Ross for $29! After testing, I sprayed myself before I went to bed and it was still going the next morning. For me, it has staying power.

I totally agree with @ekrapf. Fawn is a northeast/ New England beach with sunscreen, warm sand, salty skin, and floral in the way sun tan lotion is floral. It reminds me of the New Jersey shore when I was a kid. Fawn is nostalgic for me.

Found this on a whim at Ross for way cheap and couldn’t pass it up even though I didn’t know what it smelled like. Before reading any reviews, my immediate thought was a classy woman at the beach or by the pool. Sunscreen, flowers, tropical, a tad creamy but not at all sweet. It’s not my vibe but it’s not terrible. It smells very clean and fun. I like it ok on its own but love it layered with Ambre Vanille by LM and with that little bit of depth and sweetness it gives me the vibe I go for. I’d wear it on its own for a day by the pool but even then, I don’t think it’s anything unique. It will get used as it’s inoffensive and good for a hot day out but this won’t be a staple by any means. Don’t get my wrong, it’s beautiful but it’s very particular.

now this is a citrus for my fellow gourmand girls! i am typically drawn to super sweet, super warm fragrances so this one was out of my comfort zone. this perfume is definitely a fresh citrus, but the vanilla and musk notes allow it to read a bit unique (on me). it’s like a cousin of a gourmand perfume, with the characteristic warmth despite the contrasting fresh notes. this is the only citrus based fragrance that i’ve loved, and i think that might be why! i highly recommend for a spring/summer scent if what you typically wear would be too sweet or cloying in the summer. i got a small sample with another order and i am planning on buying a full size asap!

Pretty, beach scent. Starts off with blast of coconut. Then then white florals come out. It gives it a Monoi tiare oil vibe. Coconut with tropical white florals - gardenia/tuberose/tiare - any of the above or a mix of all three. There is also a bit of light blonde wood underneath and warm skin scent which makes it smooth. There is only the faintest citrus/bergamot scent in the mix. It is not really prominent - just adds a bit of brightness. Really very nice if you like a beachy, coconut, white floral scent. One of the only Ellis scents I like - very pretty.

Lily soap and coconut milk. Came off a bit aldehydic and citrusy to me at first (my first thought was oh, is this going to remind me of a Chanel fragrance?), then it settled into a mild white flower coconut milk. It’s not mind blowing, but if you want to smell tropical without blasting yourself full of coconut and tiare, I’d say this is a nice and tame route to take. I think I’ll return it because I just have (and have decluttered) so many scents that are in this family: Soleil blanc, guerlain terracotta, Beach walk, etc etc

Very soft and beautiful coconut gourmand, floral, in the same camp as TF Soliel Blanc, but I’m a bit anosmic to that one so I actually prefer this. There’s a bit of a play doh thing going on here as well, but it’s not overwhelming to the composition. I actually wore this scent on my wedding day and honeymoon, so it will forever hold a special place in my collection. Sillage is moderate, but the scent lasts for ages on my skin.

I got this in my quest to smell like summer/beach/sunscreen year round and also because most of my other favorite fragrances feature neroli. This is what I consider my summer perfume for wintertime- the base notes seem wintery to me and there's a kind of sharpness/crispness that my other beachy fragrances don't have. It's nice but it's not my favorite, and at that price point I probably won't be buying it again.

This perfume opens sweet and daintily-- like fur. I get a noseful of plush, soft cream and cozy vanillas. Suprisingly, on the dry down, these sweet calming notes turn to a grassy plane. Somehow the fragrance becomes an hazy, grass stained dream I was catching whiffs of it all day layered with MixBar Tangerine Squeeze recently. It compliments so many fragrances!

Fresh coconut milk, watery bergamot, and tender, dew-kissed rosebuds. As vernal and soft as its namesake. A morning daydream in an enchanted rose garden, chiffon ribbons braided into hair that has never been cut, a white butterfly landing in the palm of your hand. Innocent, sweet, and with the lightest touch of magic.

Fawn is a very fitting name for this. I found this in a sample set. I do really like this. However, I recently picked up Live Colorfully by Kate Spade and they are very similar. This is a very soft fragrance. I love gourmand scents and this is a fresh floral spring time gourmand. It’s a nice creamy floral.

To be honest I really did not like the opening of this one which just smelled of pure coconut. Luckily that dissipates pretty quickly though and then you're left with something that just reminds me of sunshine and makes me happy. It makes me want to spend the day outside and venture around.

This perfume is designed for somebody else, with different skin and different air. It doesn't come together for me. I get the coconut and the neroli, but they just sit there, like two nice people on a blind date that isn't going to work. I wouldn't mind smelling it on someone else.

I don't get all the citrus everyone else is picking up but I'm really not complaining about it. It really does smell like the memory of first love. It's floral and light and feels like jovial romance. Like confessing to your crush at your middle school's Valentine's day dance.

My teenage daughter wears this — I really love it on her. It’s light, it’s youthful, it’s innocent. She loves coconut and white florals in the summer, and this really delivers. This is one of my favorites from the brand, but maybe it’s just because I love her so much.

Testing my sample; sea-water infused tropical suncream, very similar to TF's Soleil Blanc, just muskier and saltier on my skin as it dries down. Easiest to wear from the entire sample pack, very mainstream. Warm weather, spring and summer.

Clean, impressionistic warmth and light. If this were a drink it would be lightly creamy coconut milk with a just a touch of spice added in, served in a glass with a white flower decorating the rim.

Very beachy- smells a lot like Replica Beach Walk- sweet & sunscreeny. It's pleasant but nothing special- if you want to smell like you just came from the beach this is for you.

TF Soliel Blanc’s lil sister but more citrusy over tropical. The Bergamot note stands out the most to me. I love these type of scents in hot weather.

Very very floral on me. A bit of a magnolia overload and almost like aniseed on me. The amber comes through and anchors it into something wearable.

For a white floral, Ellis Brooklyn Fawn is disappointing. For a sunscreen fragrance, though, it's quite lovely!

I don't get coconut at all, but the fragrance has a beautiful woody notes on my skin.

Beachy, sexy, pretty. Feminine and sweet. Easy to like. Heavy on neroli.

It's strange this comes up as primarily citrus in the chart above. I get an immediate coconut amber on my skin. I have an older sample, so perhaps it's been reformulated? (I'll have to check for the box and update this here). On my skin it's a quality scent that isn't fussy or overly sweetened. Reads sheer with decent projection (at first). It does smell like the coconut tanning lotion, but not as loud, a little green, and pretty. A quiet dune on a sunny shoreline. Then it dries to a skin scent and disappears within 3(?) hours.*** On clothing: it smelled a little more abrasive to my nose at first. I think the LOTV and bergamot burn through the amber in a way it doesn't on my skin. Amazingly, it lasted all day on the clothes. ***I may be anosmic to this on my skin. It stayed on clothing 24 hours later. Not as smooth smelling on clothing though. Undecided on this one for now.

My review is via the Verses kit I bought containing Myth, Fawn, Rrose, Tonka Bean, Patchouli, and Palo Santo. While I was unimpressed with the much-revered Myth, I did find Fawn a bit interesting, but only a bit. For me, it's too much citrus even as top notes, not enough coconut, and a bit too much floral. It's a mishmash that winds up not really working well enough to purchase a full bottle for me, although I admit to owning the extremely similar Issey Miyake, Shade of Sunrise and Dolce & Gabbana Light Blue Sun, the latter of which more than satisfies the salty, beach citrus need. Both Fawn and Shade have a hairspray note for me, a slight turn-off when warmth and realness are goals. Like Kategold says below, Fawn's still too sharp and flowery. It needed a coziness it sadly lacks.

this fragrance combines elements of both green and spice. its like if you took cucumber or a light floral and mixed it with some sort of spicy oriental note. i think the zinginess of the spice could be coming from the bergamot top note mixed with the amber base note. definitely masculine, could be unisex because its not outright cologney, but there is nothing feminine or girly about this fragrance. its very clean and almost powdery fresh. i get no coconut milk or vanilla at all from this. maybe the ever so slightest bit of sunscreen but that is a reach, it doesn't scream sunscreen or beachiness at all to me. all green and fresh with a pinch of spiciness.

Sadly, this is pretty much a scrubber for me. Why? Because it's trying too hard to be aquatic, coconut, and floral and comes off as an olfactory mess. Leaving out all florals except the neroli might have made this work. Instead, it is heady, cloying, and sadly, can't be fixed with layering. I'm so glad I got this in a six-pack called Verses, which contains a good tonka, a fair patchouli, a decent palo santo, and then Rroses, Myth, and Fawn. Fawn is the worst of the bunch. It solidifies for me that Ellis Brooklyn is not a safe blind buy, but the other five small bottles are salvageable.

Ellis Brooklyn is difficult for me to review only because I've been on a vintage kick with real oakmoss, civet, spicy ... green chypres, and '80s power scents. So now smelling Ellis Brooklyn scents they just don't compare. BUT most of them are clean smelling and inoffensive. The smells remind you of potpourri, hair care products, laundry dryer sheets, soaps etc., but they aren't bad. This is one of my favorites from the line. Something about the coconut makes this a creamier more robust scent.

I get the "zingy cucumber" described, a strong gardenia-like (magnolia?) heart for sure, and the milkiness of a coconut that is very forward and prominent, without becoming an actual pina colada. For that reason, it's beach evocative but not cloyingly (thank God). I like it, and voted that, but I don't love it. Only have a sample size and I will likely reach for it alot this summer so I can just use it up. No full size needed for me.

Fawn shares similarities with TF’s Eau de Soleil Blanc, but with a slightly brighter citrus opening and a drier, less sweet composition. The TF resemblance fades as it develops, with neroli taking a more prominent role in the dry-down. The overall effect is a neroli-forward take on a summery, sun-kissed fragrance but without the creamy coconut softness. It’s nice enough, but nothing special.

if this perfume had any staying power at all, even just a LITTLE it would easily become my signature scent. too bad it vanishes almost instantly. Its honestly such a shame. the experience of smelling this perfume really is as described, youthful, free, curious, slightly untamed. its so beautiful, yet fleeting. I'll be searching for another one like this.

While this is a pretty blend of florals, it creeps into headache territory because it’s so strong, sweet and the florals are borderline screechy with a very heavy rose note. I’m glad I only got the sample because I would be returning it. This is a straight floral- there is zero coconut milk, amber, vanilla and musk.

For me, this smells extremely similar to Clean Reserve Solar Bloom, although that one is much cheaper (Clean runs awesome sales) and a bit more interesting with the addition of a coal note. Fawn is a bit too much white floral for me, although it is quite nice layered with Salt.

I had high hopes for the brand and Fawn, since i am very into clean beauty lately. Not unpleasant but nothing special either. For me it doesnt really open up, its like many nice notes are put into a bottle and mixed into a mess of everything together. its sadly a no.

This doesn’t seem to be anything like TF Soleil Blanc. It’s a syrupy sweet, synthetic floral scent. No coconut that I can tell. If you like florals you might like this. It’s too syrupy sweet for my taste.

This is way more citrus than coconut; the coconut is there but has a very powdery element to it. It’s just ok to me. I don’t think it’s beachy summery either.

Citrus with something warm underneath. Almost no sillage or projection, I cannot tell I’m wearing it after a minute or two.

Coconut, coconut, coconut and vanilla milk with soap. Nothing new, nothing special.

Smells like powdery dry shampoo.

This fragrance was a big old disappointment. I don't know what I was expecting, but the first whiff was a pretty generic "tropical" coconut with a lot of neroli. And then the coconut faded, and it was just neroli. Not even good neroli either - really one-dimensional and overly synthetic. And then it was gone. So not only was this fragrance unimpressive in terms of the scent, the longevity was also terrible. There are so many better neroli scents out there, ones with actual depth and complexity. Skip this one, it's not worth your time.

I think it's the magnolia in here that I'm not loving. When it comes to tropical gardenia scents, there are much better ones available. A brighter and prettier sister fragrance at lower price point would be Gardenia & Cardamum by Banana Republic, and the luxury version of this would be California Reverie by Van Cleef & Arples with the main differnce being in CR the citruses are turned way up, making it one of my favorite scents of all time and a true olfactory gem.

With all the bergamot and coconut in this, at first it just smells like some generic tropical cocktail, however it does change with time to include the floral elements and a tiny bit of musk. The amount of coconut that remains makes it not for me, and reminds me of Crystal Noir, which I'm not a huge fan of. If you are really into coconut but don't necessarily want sweet, like Crystal Noir, this could be for you.

Smells like suntan lotion upon application and then the floral notes kick in. This one makes my nose tickle. I think this house just really isn't for me; the only fragrance I've liked enough to consider buying is Myth. I don't think any of these fragrances are safe blind buys, for what it's worth - if you can test them out before buying, I would.

I like the coconut note but eventually it fades into something unpleasant, too heavy, musky, and even leather-like scent. I personally prefer Beach Walk over this coconut smell, because Beach Walk is a fresh coconut versus this one is like old overripe and close to being rotten coconut.

More floral than REPLICA Beach Walk, the neroli in this is very forward. Not as sweet as TF Soleil Blanc. This is another coconut heavy fragrance for those dreaming of the beach and tropical locations but I think it will be stifling in the actual heat (same as those mentioned above).
